Good morning all from balmy 20 degrees NW Ohio. Guess I will get out some suntan lotion with my flip flops.

Not much going on today. The furnace kicked off several times last night. When the wind gets up to over 30 miles per hour this winter the furnace seems to kick off. In 33 years here this has never happened until this winter. Now that the wind has died down it is running well. I am having the furnace people come out this week and look at the pipe and check the draw.

Our neighbor just came over and plowed out the drive in front of my garage. Don't know what I would do without my good neighbors since DH is bedridden and can't do things like he used to.

Well, better go get my coffee drank while I watch my Sat. business shows. Everyone keep warm. Spring will come some day I believe.

Good Morning Girls

The Sun is up and so am I. I tried to sleep in a bit this morning but couldn't make it past 8:15 so I'm UP! Got my coffee and as soon as it kicks in I'm off to do the chores and SEW! I'm in a much better mood this morning that I was yesterday so think I'll actually FEEL like doing something today. (This room mate thing has me feeling a little bummed--tho I know it's only temporary--I'm counting the days 67)

It's up to 20 above here this morning and we got a little more snow yesterday, just enough to make the roads a tad bit slippery and the drive home a little longer. By Monday we're back in the deep freeze. Last I heard they are expecting wind chill temps at -50! I bet they will close schools again! Am thinking I just might stow away in Judi's camper for a trip to Florida!

Judi.... what a fun day you have planned with the kids! There's just something about the laughter of children in the house that makes it feel so warm!

Suzette... A trip to Joann... oh be still my heart! I'm trying to avoid it for a while because I never get out of there without spending too much $$$. I've used up all that fun yarn for scarves and am trying to be good and not buy any more! But they are just so darn fun to make! OH NO I just checked on line at Joann and it's all on sale!!!

Chriss... I got my DGS Brennen one of those looms for Christmas.. He's supposed to make some bracelets for me! We'll see how that goes! On my to do list for today is to wash up all that red fabric... Hope you find some good deals at the rummage sale! I'll join you in prayers for good decision about the new job.

Chickie... oh how fun to do a bathroom!! NOT. When room mate leaves I'm going to need rubber gloves up to my elbows and face mask to clean her bathroom. Every time I go to Joann I look at all the beautiful flannel and have to remind myself I don't NEED any more--so fun to make burps clothes! One of my co-worker's & his wife are expecting...but I have until August to make some blankies and burpees.

Dolores... I thought I would be a nice wife once and make stuffed peppers for DEX... he told me I didn't have to make them ever again! Guess they weren't like his Mom's after all! How is your anniversary quilt coming along? Top done just ready for borders?

Lois... as soon as chores are done.. I'm headed down to work on Bird houses too! Have most of the houses fused on, need to sew and then make the birdies!

Sherry.... aren't we lucky to have wonderful neighbors with snow blowers! I'm sure my neighbor will be over later to do mine. He's such a sweet heart. One of these days I think I'm going to make him and wife a quilt! one of these days..............

Susieq.... congrats on the new GREAT Grand baby!! Sorry to hear your DH is in the hospital ... I'll add him to my prayer list for today.

Izzy... LOVE the cat block!!! Even tho I'm not a cat person, it is the perfect block for some one who is! How's your mouth this morning? Swelling down a little more?

Well girls, I better get self motivated here. Going to turn on the music and dance my way through cleaning the kitchen, dining room and porch. Then I'll strip my sheet and start some laundry. Need to vac up some cat hair and then I'm off to the sewing room!

Wishing you all a most wonderful day

Good Morning.....

We're having a heat wave too......20'!!! with 70% chance of more snow.
I see on the weather channel that Houston is covered in ice. My DD2 in Austin says it'e real cold...30'.
All went well with my new ob/gyn. LOL...the Government made changes & I do not need a Pap for 2 years. The Government made the changes?????
I spent several hours at several stores looking at laptops. I saw one that I think is good for me & on sale. Draw back I will need a new printer & a router Which adds up to $300 & I'd need to have my info transferred($$)to the lap top. I wish my Son-in-law was here to help me! I have to the end of the month for this sale...time to think.
Slept in today. I didn't fall to sleep until 4am, then I didn't sleep well. So tired & grumpy today.

Suzette......so so sorry you were forced to go to Joann's. Sounds like you found a procrastinating banker not a good mix. Making your Coconut Cake today for dinner at my sister's. I might make it 2 layers round.

Lois.....yesterday I had 2 different Lois's wait on my...was thinking of you! I wish I had started the birdhouses it sounds like so much fun. Hope you fine your magic fabric.

scrap48.....have a wonderful quilting day! The best thing to do when it's cold out. I'm in for the day.

Izzy.....have a good time with DH. Will check out your pic's.

Becca......isn't nice to be warm? It is so loving of you to work on QOV. What these men & woman do for us.....can't thank them enough.
When I was at the Dr's with my DD1 last month there was a man in his 90's, looking every year of it. He still had the twinkle in his eye. He talked about how he lied about his age to get in the Navy & the fighting he did at Pearl Harbor. He made it so alive it felt like touching history when I shock her hand. God Bless them all.

Dolores.....It's a good for a slow cooking dinner.

Chickie.....sorry you're freezing & I'm having a heat wave.. The freeze will be back here tomorrow.

Judi......your grands are right there's nothing like bread right out of the oven. Sounds like a wonderful day you have planned. Enjoy!!!
Congrats on finishing your hexxie quilt. Can't wait to see it.

Love & Prayers to all........Kathy

Good morning!

The sun is shining brightly in my East window - so bright that it is hard to see the screen - so who knows what I might type! LOL

Went to the new quilt guild meeting last night, about 40 showed up to start the quild chapter here. Bigger turn out that was expected. Looks to be lots of fun. I learned years ago at Little League meetings to sit on my hands and not say much - well, I got found out - it didn't help that I teach at the shop - LOL - so later on I will be demo-ing some of El's tricks - using her rulers. Sarah is helping with the Charity quilts and the website - she is good at both. We are under the Utah Quilt Guild - just a chapter here near the house.

After we get the Church bulletin done for tomorrow services, I will get to spend the day sewing! Yippee!!

We got a little colder last night, and now up to around 20. We won't get much warmer either. We need the snow - but the Pacific High is firmly entrenched and is diverting all the storms away from us. California and Utah are experiencing drought conditions like we had in 1977.

Well I am off - I get to sew for a little while, DH is still finishing up the bulletin.

Do something fun!
Hugs

Good afternoon quilty peeps!

It is a grand and glorious day here in the Great PNW, albeit a chilly one. Got up early this morning to go pick up my sunshine (DGS). We decided that we were hungry so a stop at IHOP was in order. I could watch him eat pancakes and siri-up (his word for syrup) all day. He just enjoys the whole process immensely! LOL

Now we are back home and I am doing his laundry (plus his father's). This is the only way for me to be sure he does not go to school looking like a ragamuffin... Oh well, I don't mind. When I picked him up this morning he had on a thin white t-shirt and jeans. It's not like he doesn't have clothes....unfortunately, they aren't self-cleaning, I guess. Oh well, enough of that.

Later today it will either be birdhouses or soap making...I haven't decided which. Maybe both!

I hope you all have a splendiferous weekend.

Hugs,
Mel

Hello.....

Suzette.....my coconut cake is done. The house smells of coconut. I'll be putting it in the freezer. I forgot the quilt guild is having a brunch tomorrow. Hope I can find room in the freezer.

Chriss....you day sounds packed full. Anything good at rummage sale? Yesterday I saw a Salvation Army next to the Dr's. I'll have to check it out. I have a rubber band bracelet....they are all the rage!
The process you are going through is so long and complected. Yet here a 5yr old boy was missing for several months before school & CPS found him missing AND they only realized it because his 7yr sister said something to her teacher. Mom & her boyfriend (not the father)are saying nothing. Missing since Sept...how strange the Mon now has a new tattoo "9-23-13" with a heart. Dept is saying not enough people to do all the work.

Susie....a big congratulations to you.....Wow, 5DGGC!

Sherry.....Good luck with your furnace. Hope it holds out.

Maryq....When does 'temporary' end? It sure can be difficult at times having a room mate.

Jana....I need to be part of the guild for a while before I start volunteering. How exciting to be starting a new chapter.

Must start thinking of dinner.

Heading for bed, didn't venture out! Very cold! Kitten went in seconds returned. How can it be so cold for so long. Well guess their are worse things in the world.

Venture to my sew studio, worked on making 1/2 triangles from rolls of thangles. Got the idea from quilt blog tutorial. Filtered through a number of quilt blog projects. Learning about different book/patterns author, read about some bio of those in the blog club. Interesting people out made me see how quilting is very part of many of our lives and that is so so good.
