Good morning... I just saw a picture of dogwood trees near Yosemite, they are budding already they usually bud around May?? all of our trees are budding.. I so miss having seasons like we used to have.

Suzette, I think your dogs are smart, I'd stay in a cozy bed too.. are your treatments daily? I am not a coconut fan but Jerry sure is.. I will have him look at the cake recipe.. he may add chocolate and call it a mounds bar.

Sooz... pictures of fabric can never be too big....I saw your pictures in the photo section, you and DH are adorable together... and how nice of your mom to send fabric..I have my mystery block fabric cut out but need to sew it together.. I am using 30's fabric and trying to sew down my stash..what color scheme are you going with?

Lois, your DH is a sweetie, how nice of him to drive you to work..

Teresa, you have a great weekend...

Izzy, glad the swap will work for you.. I will iron out the details and post either in the middle of March or when everyone sends in their birdhouses, which ever comes first..glad you have teeth...

Velda, if your DH loves chocolate have you made the cake from the recipe off the Hersheys cocoa can? oh my gosh, you will never buy a box mix again.. trust me, next time you're in the grocery store just look at the can and see if you have the rest of the ingreedients...

Judi, one day I am going to look up applique and try all the different kinds... I love what you do with applique...

Maryq.. I will gladly trade some cold for some warm, but only if your cold comes with water.. either rain for now or snow that will melt... too bad they can't ship all that snow this way when they do the roads..

for me it's time to get gas and go to work... you all have a superb day..

Good morning, good morning!
We are a little warmer this morning at 7 degrees as it was -7 yesterday morning. We watched the mini-series on the Yukon and I still marvel at how they survived in Alaska in the late 1800's. I would be much too wimpy.

Chriss - I was trying to find the thread where your block from your secret pal was along with the tut, but could not find it - could you point me in the right direction?

Izzy - so sorry about your fall; ouch! Glad you were able to get into the dentist right away and I hope everything heals up quickly.

Miriam - your DH must be a patient man to deal with repairing and fixing up those rentals, and also having to deal with meeting code requirements. That is one thing David does not miss with getting out of the contracting business.

I made a pork chili last night, but both David and Elizabeth were feeling yuck, so I split it up between the fridge and the freezer. I had to set the scrap cutting aside and have been putting together some string blocks.

Stay warm everyone!

Good Morning!

Bill turned on the generator this morning so I have internet! Yay!

IZZY - your teeth!! OUCH! Are you getting implants or a bridge? I just finished 2 implants and I love them! But they were spendy. Feel better soon, girl! And I'm sorry, but with the dog, the cat, and DH, our bed is pretty full. you might stretch out across the foot . . .

SOOZ - looking forward to your pix! We love pix here!

CHRISS - Sounds like things are going along smoothly at your house. Wish you could get some rain, though. I miss rain.

SUZETTE - you have smart fur-babies! Guess you aren't out on your deck sandwiching quilts! I use my living room floor when my dining table isn't big enough. Snickers knew to stay off anything I put down. Scottie is still in training for that . . . sorry about your friend's lyme disease.

LOIS - glad your DH is driving you to work. If you slipped into a ditch, it wouldn't be good for you to be trying to walk on ice alone.

TERESA - you're not excited about your trip, are you?

SCRAPS - hi! Hope you are staying warm! Here, because treatments go on for weeks or months, it's not economically feasible to stay "in-house" unless you are independently wealthy.

VELDA - you're already talking about going back to IL and I haven't even got to TX yet!! Wait for me!!

JUDI - congrats on the weight loss and finishing your quilt! Both great achievements! Because of all the holiday activities, dr appts, and company staying in our trailer, we ended up packing for this trip "on the fly". I didn't really forget anything, but did end up bringing along a lot of stuff that was in the trailer than we didn't need. So 'fortunate' that we broke down for 4 days in Barstow so I had an opportunity to clean and rearrange some of the cabinets! LOL!

MARY Q - you still have that Polar Vortex? We've had no news for 9 days so I've lost track of everything in the world but dust. I love that scarf you made for Suzette. (and you were such a sweetie to do it!) Was it hard? My DD in TX is a scarf ho. She loves them. I have VERY limited crochet skills, but I would like to make her one.

CHRISS - the seasons are changing everywhere. We get less rain than we used to and many winters don't get even a skift of snow. I, too, miss seasons. I'm keeping an eye on your swap ideas. I'm whittling away on my "gotta-get-done" projects so maybe I'll have time . . .

KARLENE - we dont' have TV here, but our friends in their RV across the valley from us about 10 miles said they were going to DVR that Klondike mini-series. I assume your show is the same one? It sounded interesting to us since we have explored that area a few times.

CINDY - I know you'll be around soon. How's the puppy? Wish Scottie could meet her!

CHICKIE - you always sound so busy! The rentals do keep you and Doyal on your toes!

TINA - how's things at your house? we will be in Deming one of these days . . .

SHARONA - have you got the last of your boxes unpacked yet? When will your sewing studio be ready to move into? How far is it from the house?

MEL - how's the weather been at home. To tell you the truth, I miss it!! I like winter at home. I come south for these extended periods to please my DH. So far, he's been worth it.

We had a coyote in camp a few nights ago while we were sitting around the fire. We're told they are numerous this year. Scottie chased him off. The coyote leaped straight up and turned around in mid-air and took off. Such a brave little sheltie we have! And I charged after HIM to grab him up and leash him. Coyotes like shelties. They taste like cat.

Happy Quilting, everyone!

Chriss.....have a wonderful work day.

Karlene....I recorded that show can't wait to see it. I wonder how they ever managed to live in those difficult conditions. How did they climb Mt Everest in regular clothes?

Izzy remember poem: Jack/Jill went up the hill, jack fell and broke his crown, jill came tumbling after. Yet, the cost of it all is terrible. My dentist keeps warning me about saving money for that day. When that day, comes tell close family I'll have to sell house.

Geez, can you hear? Kitten is snoring loud. Sleeping on Xblock flannel sampler.

Suz - I think you should just go home and veg after work and your treatment. You deserve it. I hope you do get to meet your friend on Sunday.

Sooz - your mom is just the berries! What a great stack of fabric. I'll go look at your picture when I'm thru here. I'm glad you posted it. I always picture people in my mind of what I think they look like - most of the time I'm way off base. I must brag.....my BFF's friend, Linda, had a sister who passed away. Her name was Edith and Edith was an avid quilter. After Edith passed Linda was clearing out her house and warehouse and there was lots and lots of fabric. So Linda asked if Vicki, Sue and I could get together at Vicki's so she could bring a couple of boxes of the fabric over for us to go thru and take what we wanted. So here comes Linda with a pickup FULL of boxes in the back and also the back seat of that truck. All of this fabric was quilt shop quality. Vicki, Sue and I were beside ourselves. We spent hours that Friday night and Saturday morning going thru all that fabric. I can't tell you how much fun that was. Sue and I had ridden to Vicki's together so we had to call my DH to come over there with his pickup and take our fabric back home for us - there was that much. We couldn't believe it. And that wasn't even half of Edith's stash. Linda took a lot of it to donate to her church ladies who make charity quilts and Linda kept some for herself but she doesn't quilt much. We had many BOLTS of fabric as well as yardage cuts. So that was a real surprise and I felt so blessed. Gosh, Vicki, Sue and I still can't get over it. Thanks to Edith.

Lois - oh, goodness, you don't need to be walking on ice!

Teresa - good idea about writing down those numbers. I've done the same thing with pantos so I don't buy a duplicate. I'm so excited for you BOING BOING BOING. I know you will have a blast.

Scrap - good morning!

Izzy - ohhhh coconut cream cheese cake. Sounds SO good. I'm sorry about your teeth. I lost mine when I tripped over a parking lot car stopper and went face down on the concrete. My front teeth went thru my bottom lip and hit the concrete. The pain shot up my nose so I thought I broke my nose and blood was going everywhere. Luckily I was on my way to the restroom (at the ball park) so I went in there and saw the blood was from my lip, not my nose. My teeth didn't break but the roots of the teeth broke so I had to have them pulled and replaced.

Velda - when will you head home?

Judi - can you turn on the heater in the camper and get it warm in there so you can pack? When do you head for warmth?

Maryq - OMG 17* below. How do you stand it??? I made the Twin Sisters quilt - it was fun, wasn't it?

Chriss - we have Blue Bell ice cream here (made in the town where Sue lives) and they came out with a flavor of Coconut Fudge. It is SO good. You've got me wanting to look at the back of the Hershey's Cocoa can - LOL.

Karlene - you're too whimpy for Alaska.....I'm too whimpy for MN where Maryq lives! Pork chili - I've never made that. Mine's always with beef.

Well, I'm going to look at pix and get busy here. We are having winter tonight. It might be sleeting by the time I leave the office. They are saying the roads will be icy in the morning so guess who is staying home if that is so. We just aren't use to driving on snow and ice down here.

I hope we can all fondle some fabric today.

Morning (barely) -

We're having huge problems with this satellite interet connect - must be sunspots. I wasn't able to post anything yesterday.

I feel like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland: "I'm late, I'm late... no time to say hello goodbye" !!! We have more company and contractors showing up here in just a few so I''''d better get back to it.

Izzy - so sorry about your teeth - OUCH. Glad you're ok.

Suzette and Pat - praying for both of you.

I wish I could say I'd check back later - but we will have company through the weekend and next week will be a week of more construction and hopefully moving into the shop. Still no final inspection - they were supposed to be here no later than Tuesday morning. I''''ll check in when I can. XOXO!!! Sharona

Good morning… barely! I checked here earlier but didn’t have time to post before DH arrived back from coffee. I did my yoga with lots of help. Tinker Bell thought she should be beside me and for all the world it looked like she was doing what I was doing. Too funny! I wish I got to practice my yoga more regularly but seems like my agenda isn’t my own. I’m staying home today, and DH is going to work on the rental by himself. I know Tinker Bell and Odie appreciate being able to come and go through their door. They had to stay in yesterday since Odie thinks chasing us a mile down the road will get him a free ride wherever we are going. Not so, and for that reason… Lockdown!

We were at 8 degrees this morning. 13 now and going for a high of 19. I’m having trouble staying warm.

Suzette—hope everything goes well today! I must try that coconut cake… maybe today. It looks so good. Take care of yourself and just rest and restore your body and your mind.

Becca—This must be the week for tooth problems… Vicky, Izzy, your DH… I wonder if he was grinding his teeth while he was sleeping.

Cindy—what an amazing blessing you received from Linda’s sister’s passing. I got kicked in the mouth years ago and ended up with replacement teeth when I was 16. Hope you don’t get sleet. We have no precip in the forecast, but that’s when we get slammed.

Scrap48—Love that you remembered the Jack and Jill rhyme. Ours is “Izzy went up the hill; took a pail of feed. She fell down and broke her teeth; the goats were sad indeed.”

Izzy—check out my ode to you above… Apologies… I’m not as good as you with the verse. Why is it the babies always come in freezing weather? So… you used your hand on the metal rail… I always think of the little kid with his tongue on the flag pole. Guacamole is the same consistency as a really ripe banana… also hummus. You know how much weight I can gain on that diet?

Kathy—how much snow did you get? Be careful going out. The sun sure makes everything look pretty.

MaryZ—I really loathe the rentals. This one really needs some updating anyway. My friend’s son lives there. He is EXTREMELY overweight and very hard on everything. I know Odie would make a nice fat meal for a skinny coyote and worry when he and Tinker Bell go for a late run. They go way too far.

Karlene—is that “Klondike” you watched? We have one more night since it taped really late. What a life! Even for gold, you couldn’t pay me to live that way. My DH is NOT patient. This whole HUD thing is a lot of hoops for no benefit for us, but it does help out my friend’s son on his too limited income. My chili was beef/venison and so good. It will be repeated tonight—always better the second time around. I love string blocks.

Chriss—dogwood trees in January? Unbelievable! In Missouri they bloomed around Easter/April. I miss them now that I’m in Kansas.

MaryQ—this cold is the pits, and I feel so bad when I read yours is so much colder. I am so amazed at all you accomplish! I think I’ll get a ball of that yarn and see if I can figure out the instructions for the scarf. If I can’t, you may find the yarn in your mailbox.

Judi—Hope you stayed inside! My side of the bed has a pile of quilts and blankets. Congrats on the weight loss!

Velda—My grandma used to make the best chocolate cake. I think I’ll come to Texas for supper… Have a super day!

Teresa—have a wonderful time at the R2C! I’d love to see it too.

Lois—enjoy your day! I love coconut, too. Eating it in winter I can close my eyes and think of Hawaii and warmth… O.K. I’m convinced… I’ll be making it forthwith…

Sooz—what a wonderful care package!!! I think your mother must be a quilter? She should join us too! Really enjoyed getting to meet you in the photos section!!! (I love exclamation points too!!!)

I think I’ll make the coconut cake and clean up my brunch dishes then work on my birdhouse blocks’ embroidery… and try to stay warm.

Enjoy today!

P.S. Sharona--see you when you get back to us! Hope your computer connections get better.

Oh, funny here... Tinker Bell must be dreaming and chasing something in her sleep. She's semi barking and waving her feet. What a character!
