Good morning.. prayers for everyone and their family members who have needs...

Maryq.. I love Christmas breakfast with your neighbors. what a cool idea... I made breakfast burritos on the 24th so the kids could just heat and eat and not be in my kitchen.

Maryz... I thought of you when we watched Christmas Vacation.. Richards favorite part is when the cat blows up under the chair.. mine is when the squirrel comes out of the tree...it really is a good movie..

Judi. when my grandma was tired of hosting Christmas we all decided to bring dishes and do the cooking and cleaning. but one year we forgot to clean one pot and that was it. so I have been doing holiday dinners for a very long time..I wear slippers the entire day. and Jerry and I do the mad rush to get the food off the stove or out of the oven and ready to be served... how nice of Ken to make you a special box...he is a sweetie.

Cindyg.. glad you're there for Vicky, I am sure she appreciates you a great deal. every holiday Jerry and I talk about the need for a bigger fridge, then the leftovers are gone and we don't need one anymore.

Izzy, you have a beautiful family.

our Christmas was wonderful... about a week ago one of Santa's elves put a present under the tree for Marilyn... she was excited to come home from shopping with me and see she had a gift. so she writes this letter to Santa saying she got this gift and there was no name in the from part of the tag so who was it from.. Santa wrote on her letter that she had made the extra good list this year and got a special elf present...

on Christmas eve she made a stocking for Richard because he didn't have one.. she used raggedy ann fabric...and Santa left him stocking stuffers too... I love that she still believes.

it was a wonderful Christmas and a good day for family.

today I am taking Mar and her friend to the show to see Frozen. then to lunch. we should have a fun time.

hope you all have a wonderful day,
Chriss

Good Morning Girls!

Happy Day After Christmas! It's back to work for me, but late shift today and tomorrow... with the weekend off to recover and clean up messes! It's all okay tho... I love these kind of messes--wrapping paper and bows and with the sounds of laughter in my head while I clean.

Izzy... love the photo--even tho I had to crank my head to see it! Couldn't figure out what was on your DS's head! It's a cowboy Hat! Not so scary--rather beautiful I think. If I could ever get my kids all in one place at the same I'd love to have a portrait! Enjoy you r ME today...

Maryz... Poor Scottie is so lonesome.. may be you will have to get him his own play mate! Another puppy? Many prayers for A ...

Cindyg... What fun... all new appliances! Sears LOVED us one year... new DW, New Fridge, then a couple weeks later the stove blew up and needed a new stove/oven.. a couple weeks after that it was the washing machine! DEX got custody of the Sears charge card, but I still remember the account number...hhhmm gives me an idea... And a Pandora bracelet---how sweet, will save DH from thinking of something to get your every occasion! He's not so dumb!

Judi... I never feel let down after the holidays either.. I look forward to a new year with new possibilities and new challenges. All the things I've been waiting to do until "after Christmas" are now on my TO DO list...However I think it's going to take lots of COFFEE of to get them all done!

Tess... will add your nephew to my prayer list.. Good to hear he is feeling better.

Vicky... I take my tree and stuff down on New Years Day. Every year I promise myself I'm going to put it away all organized for the next year.. But as soon as I get it all back out to the garage I find a few things that I've missed!

Suzette....Congratulations to the engaged couple... Do you have the wedding quilt in mind yet? Prayers for your SIL for speedy recovery!

Chriss.. isn't it fun to have Mar around when she still believes! Santa came here every year, even when the kids were in High School- tho they didn't get up at 6am anymore to see what Santa brought! Breakfast at the neighbors was fun and it was nice to actually meet the folks that have lived across the street from me for 18 years--never actually MET them! I had time to come home and take a nap before my kids arrived!

Everybody got here about 4:00pm and Evie wanted to open gifts right away of course. She started counting how many packages she had under the tree. Brennen got a Kindle Fire so he had to show me how it worked--still a little over my head! I got a Gift Card to Joann (now have $90 work of GC's to shop with!) some quilt batting and a few other little things... Most of all I got lots of hugs and kisses and that's all I need! Got to face time with Jen for a little bit-tho it was awful noisy in my house to carry on a conversation, but she got to see her brothers and we got to see Kaya and Eli.

Oh dear, time for me to get going and get ready for work. Hoping it's a nice quiet day.

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Good Morning All!

The sun is shining but still very cold out suppose to start warming up for a couple days which I will be thankful for as need to move things from the rental storage home to our new shed it is finally done an ready to be used I am so happy may get things in order yet!

Itzzy....Love your family picture. That is something I don't have any of seems like we could never get them all together at one time an now some have passed so that will never happen.

Mary z....I hear you on the hosting thing we did it for years my daughter an one of the sons did their fair share but when it came to the younger generation that don't want to keep up traditions guess they want to make their own but it was sad an I miss our get to gethers, but I guess its "out with old"

Have a great day everyone......hope you can all feel some cotton today!

Good morning!

Got everyone fed here and then I got to come down here!

It is so nice that all my kids fight over who's house the celebrations are at - now that Matt has a big house - we can switch off between his, mine and Sarah's. One of these days, Aaron and Kate will have a place too - then it is only out here every fourth year! LOL

Cindyg - I love my Pandora bracelet - DH got me the candy cane bead this year - birthday is coming soon, so is another bead! In fact I showed him the candy cane bead on a ad on TV the other day - told him I wanted that bead - he had already bought it a week before! Such a good DH! You will have fun with that bracelet.

Decorations will stay up for about another week - until after Daniel's BD on the 3rd - then Sarah and I will organize how they are packed away and label all the boxes - that will make a huge difference for next year, now that I have finally found everything after the move!

Birthday season is starting - Ethan's on the first, Daniel's on the third, Stu's on the eleventh, and Emma's on the thirteenth. Anyone want BD cake? LOL

Daniel is hoping that we get a snow storm before he heads home - he wants fresh powder to ski in - humm - no more storms, maybe he will stay longer....

Well I have a table and four chairs to assemble for the little ones down in the Batt cave - I got it as a promotion when we bought the furniture - a farm set - solid wood and it was only $25 - retails at $200 - nice deal I think!

Have a great day!
Hugs

MaryZ - yes I am thinking about a wedding quilt for my cousin's daughter. I made her that t-shirt quilt over a year ago. But, a girl has to have a wedding quilt. Yes, this is the same sister in-law that was sick a while back. She has so much going on.

Dresden plate Question:

if my dresdens are 11 1/2 inches then how big of block should I cut to put them on? LOL and they are peach and teal with some white in one of fans and other blade is solid teal. What color background do you all recommend?

I am so ADD today I have like minions of projects in this room and I look and think while cutting for this mystery quilt Im working on too.

Audition different size squares and find the one you like best. Just lay out the fabric and look, don't cut until you are sure. Remember that when you applique to the square, that it will shrink up, so add extra to make sure you can get it trimmed to the right size.

Love your family picture, your's looks more sane than here!

Happy Day After Christmas! This was always a very special day, years ago when my Mother was still living. This day was her Birthday. Always a day for me to stop and remember her and her lovely personality. We all tried to make sure that her Birthday was a separate celebration, so she would not feel cheated.

Now you all sound like you had great memories with family and friends this year. So did I. We had time with our children through "face time" on our phones. Gifts from all. Most unexpected gift was a Kindle from our oldest son. I had hinted that I wanted a book of Jennifer Chiaverini's. So he got me a Kindle and an Amazon gift card to purchase the books I want. I am still in awe.
Just can't get over that he spent that much.

Now I have something to learn how to use. LOL
Reading from a Kindle is awesome. So easy to hold and turn the pages.

I am in the midst of making home made soup, so no time to chat.
I did get to read messages to keep up with you.

Izzy: What a lovely family So glad you shared.
