Good morning! We are going to be 62 today—great for a little shopping and delivering DGD’s birthday cookie I made yesterday. I’ll get to see my DD but will have to come back before I see the GKs. I’m bringing chicken back for Mom’s dinner and will drop it off to her on my way home.

We attended a funeral last evening, then we went out to dinner with friends that were all former co-workers of DH and the deceased. Before we went to the services, DH had to make an emergency run for a rental. Why do these people think they can flush ANYTHING and it will go away…

Lois—when you finish wrapping, you can come to my house and wrap for me. I don’t have much. I need to pick up a few gift bags when I’m out today.

Judi—I hope some of my nice weather makes its way north and Izzy doesn’t take all the warmth as it goes by her farm… I am so looking forward to your quilt. The teaser blocks you showed are so pretty.

MaryZ—I thought Dusty chewed a lot when she was a puppy; I was lucky she was a small dog. Our Spike tore up an overstuffed chair one time, but he had a good excuse… a mouse. DH accused me of putting Spike up to it because I didn’t like the furniture… He will never know for sure, but I got rid of the chair. I didn’t know what had happened to Tommy Sands; he was so cute. I think I had seen a later picture of him… still pretty good looking at that time.

Becca—that’s so sad about the ashes. With coal there is potential of warmth, but ashes… wow, what a sad message that sends.

Chriss—how neat you got to spend dinner with your son. Is he busy with finals this time of year? I had Mexican chicken last evening.

Sue—have a wonderful and safe trip!

Suzette—have fun with the contest! Sounds like a lot of fun. I like the idea of a breakfast, too. My friend gave me the sweetest “Christmas Breakfast” tea towel last evening.

Izzy—hope you get some of this lovely warm weather. Unfortunately, we are to have the cold and chances of snow returning on Friday and staying for a few days. Enjoy the parties… eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow ye may diet…

Cindy—is there a recipe for the King Ranch Chicken? I hope Scooter’s hip isn’t serious… I totally agree with being a teacher… I remember what I did in school, and I know kids are much smarter and cleverer than I was… Horrors!!!

Have a great day! I’m off to get ready for my day of running… (Well, driving, mostly…)

Good morning :o)
I'm all done with PT, my medical insurance wouldn't approve anymore, they paid for now and then the attorney is going to get the auto insurance to reimburse them.......a mess! I'm doing better, I'm about 75% better most of the time, some days are even better then that but then I still have days that are worse. I'm going to try and call today about an appointment for a massage therapist, hopefully she can get me in soon. I'm really hoping that will bump me up in the 90 and 100% ranges. Holly, Jaz and Easton are still here :o) we are having a great time, a little crazy because we also have her Cocker and Chihuahua LOL her Cocker and mine are brothers and they are like a white tornado, they have to have time outs and some alone time for my sanity throughout the day.
Sue, are you going to Alamogordo?
Maryz, WOW I can not even imagine a dog eating a couch like that! He was lucky you had a cousin! My brother and SIL had 2 Rodesian Ridgebacks and they were house dogs, I'm a little dog person, Cockers are as big as I go LOL my main reason is I don't like to push a wheelbarrel around the yard to cleanup after them LOL
Well it's school time here, so I gotta run, I watch Easton while Holly takes Jaz. I can be on the puter but can't type if I'm holding him LOL I mostly just play with him. He sees something in my bookcase that he likes and smiles and laughs at it, we haven't figured out if it's 1 thing or just all of it together.
I hope you all have a wonderful day! Prayers for those in need.
Tina

Good Morning Girls

I know it's really Wednesday, but it sure feels like Tuesday to me--having Monday off kind of throws me! Yesterday I went back to work for my usual shift (10-6) then discovered that I'm really working late shift all this week. Fortunately I didn't have to stay until 9 last night, but this morning I get to putts around a little before going to work. Guess it pays to check the work schedule! It's bright and sunny and has warmed up to 21 ABOVE ZERO! Yeah a heat wave!

Got a little sad news yesterday from my sister. My Auntie fell and broke her hip a couple weeks ago and is now in a nursing home. She's developed a nasty infection and is in a lot of pain. At this point we are doing comfort cares only and she is on morphine for the pain. She's not eating and for now it's a matter of time until God takes her home. So if you have a spare prayer today, think of my Aunt Pitty Pat--that's what we always called her. She is ready and I know my Mom and the rest of her siblings are waiting for her with open arms. I pray God be gentle with her in the last few days.

Izzy... oh how I would love to see a picture of a walking holly pointsetta bush! We're doing ugly sweater on Monday.. the only one I have is an old sweater of my Mom's! Do you get a prize for the ugliest? I made a little gift bag of stuff for the winner of our contest.

Lois... Love you motto!! "Oh Well" no need to stress right?

Cindyg... I have more wrapping to do too, and there's a huge mess on my table of wrapping paper! Some time in the next week I have to find the top of my table so we can sit down to EAT at it on Christmas Day. Hope your little Scooter is okay!

Chickie... so your renters don't know how to use a plunger??? Did you get your car in for a check up before you go off running today?

Judi... that's one thing I will give MN a lot of credit for.. they do a fantastic job on our highways! When are you leaving for Florida?

Maryz... we had a black lab once that ate a whole roast off the kitchen counter--boy did he get sick after that. Guess that's why I'm not quite ready for a dog yet. Hope you and you Sis have a GREAT time!! Will she be there through Christmas and New Years?

Chriss.. how fun to have a dinner date with your Son. He's such a handsome young man... if I were a few (ok a lot) years younger......

Tina... yep, it's pretty hard to type one-handed... so never mind that and just snuggle with that baby! They grow up way too fast!

Becca... ashes? Oh my that's just sad. More baking for you today? That's on my TO DO for the weekend. Cookie exchange at work.

Well girls I better get moving here a little this morning, take advantage of the time at home and get a couple more things wrapped up and the box ready to go to Colorado!

Wishing you all a most wonderful day

Good morning, good morning,
All these bad dog stories are reminding me why David and I decided to have cats! I had a beagle growing up, and the amount of damage that dog did....it's just with facing an empty nest soon, I think a dog lets you know they need you more than a cat does! Oh well, no pets until after we resettle anyways. I just look at the pets section in the classified ads every day and 'ahhhhh'.

We look like we're in a snow globe right now with big white flakes just swirling around. I may get to go steal Harley today so I'm hoping we don't get too much.

Have a wonderful day everyone,
Karlene

Good morning quilty friends. Not much going on around here, yet! LOL We have our annual Christmas luncheon here at work today. We also do a white elephant gift exchange...that's always fun.

I can't believe Christmans is next week. Sure did sneak up on me. I have got to do some wrapping tonight and tomorrow night. All of DGS's gifts are on the table in full view so I need to get it done before he comes over on Friday! I hate having a deadline! LOL I also hate wrapping. I have seriously thought about gathering everything up and bringing it all to the BX (base exchange store) here on base and having them wrapped. The different squadrons always set up wrapping booths this time of year as a way to raise funds. There is no set price, you just donate what you want and they wrap the gifts.

On Monday morning there was a fatal crash on I-5 which shut down the interstate for about eleven hours. I got off work at 4 p.m. and decided to stop at the BX and do some shopping. After that, I stopped at the food court to eat dinner. I left the BX at approximately 6:15 p.m. and went straight home. The drive normally take me 45-55 minutes depending on the time of day, etc. I got home at 11 p.m. I still can't believe it took 4 1/2 hrs to get home. I was worn out. Thank goodness I decided to go to the bathroom before I left the BX....I almost didn't! Also glad I had half a bottle of water in the car and my Kindle in my bag! I read the first half of the third installment of the Hunger Games trilogy. I couldn't believe that there was still so much traffic from the crash that happened so much earlier in the day. So sad for the families who lost a loved one. I still don't know the details of what happened.

Well, looks like we have a customer coming in so I better wrap up for now. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hugs,
Mel

Good morning!

I am not sure what happened to my posts - they just don't seem to make it through cyberspace.

The ashes in the stocking made me cry - that is just so sad.

I have a frozen King Ranch chicken in the freezer - y'all are making it sound mighty good for dinner.

Our dog is kennel-trained so any time we're gone that's where she goes. I wish we had started doing it 30 years ago...

I know there was more I was going to say but the contractor is here so I must run.

Have a glorious day, all! xoxo Sharona

Farm Chick - yes, there is a recipe for King Ranch Chicken. If I find one, I'll send it to you.

Tina - Cockers are so cute. I'm more fond of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels as I think they are a little smaller. The largest dog we have is the Tibbie and he's bigger than most at 20 lbs.

Maryq - I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt Pitty Pat. So sad. My friend lost her mom just before Thanksgiving and now her daddy has passed away. I wonder why it seems like more people pass away around the holidays.

Karlene - everyone needs a dog....even cat people.

Mel - that's terrible about the accident. And I'm sorry it took you so long to get home. I most places on my way to and from work I can maneuver my way around but there's a couple places that, if there's an accident, I'm just stuck with no way to get around.

Good late afternoon from dreary, drab, cold, Sw. Pa....Now that the day is ending, it really is looking drab, looks like it might snow at any time, but hopefully, it won't......

Had a busy shopping day today....Jim and I started out at Aldi's (always a treat), then the Library, Walgreens and then the highlight of the day, we drove through McDonalds and brought home BigMacs....Now, I know you're all green with envy or maybe just green thinking about BigMacs....But, you know when the coupons (buy 1 get 1) come in the mail, someone has to use them....After we got home and I regrouped, I then went by myself...Stopped at our church and gave our organist a small gift and that took about an hour....She's a "crazy cat person" much like me and I cross stitched some hand towels with, what else, cats.....Then went on and bought a hand full of gift cards....Spent lots of money and no big boxes to show for it! But, don't have much wrapping to do either.....

Just reading though all the posts and seeing the sadness this time of year, makes a person think and really appreciate what we do have...It does seem, there are more accidents and deaths right around this time of year....And the senseless shootings, just makes a person's heart hurt.....

Judi, I didn't see the video about the destructive kitty but from years of cats allowing us to live with them, I know 1st hand...But all in all and so many times I've said it "isn't that just the cutest thing"??? (As they're tearing through the house or tearing down the Christmas tree).....Just yesterday, a dear friend called and said she had great news....She and DH adopted a kitten....She has had cats in the past but she is over the moon with this new one....I didn't have the heart to tell her, she should have gotten 2......

Suzette, I hope you'll post a picture of that winning sweater....That really seems to be the "thing" more and more...Last year when DS and the kids came from N.C. they brought with them some sweaters that had found AND even wore them to church on Christmas...Of course I pretended I didn't know them, lol....AND then they had the nerve to ask if they could go through my sweaters to take home for this year......
Edited....Just checked and saw the picture...Yep, you win?

Chriss, I know we don't have to ask if you enjoyed your date last night....We do get a feeling that you might like him, just a little......I'm hoping while Terry is here, he and I might be able to do the same...It's always good to have some "alone" time and get caught up.....

Guess I'd better decide what to put on the table for dinner...Even with all that food we bought, I'm still having a hard time........Maybe Santa will bring me a chef or at least someone that will plan my dinners...............Oh well, I can dream.....

You all have a great rest of the day.........
Dorothy

MaryQ--My truck is at the "hospital" for new fuel injectors, oil change and check through. It's going to cost me PLENTY, but Millie is my baby so what's a gal gonna do? I took DH's car today. Millie may come back Friday, if not then next week. (Millie is my millennium--2000--Nissan Frontier.) For some reason we get helpless renters--they call at all hours for the stupidest little things. I guess none of them know what a plunger is. They think DH is their personal plumber, garbage man, light bulb changer...

Odie went with me today, and he was such a good little guy to wait on me. He charmed the ladies at my DD's office--they want us to come over and volunteer for dog therapy with the clients/patients. He wanted to stay with Mom when we took her chicken dinner to her. She gave him a piece of skin or two, so he planted himself next to her and tried to convince me he had taken root there.

I need to spend some time with DH since I've been gone all day... talk to you tomorrow. Enjoy your evening!
