Good morning, happy Friday.. I so love a weekend...

Karlene, sorry you didn't have the quarter for Aldi's.. that quarter is revered... we have taken Jerry's grandma there and people will give you their cart and you give them the quarter... it cracks me up... but here there are carts everywhere, people leave them in the lot or take them home and just leave them where ever they happen to be... amazing what people will do for a quarter...

Maryq.. what a wonderful thing to open my facebook page and see that cutie pie mooning me... he is so so adorable and has the best facial expressions... I do love Marilyn's excitement over Christmas... she has been counting presents and letting us know how many each of us has... she still believes in Santa.. but I think next year that will all change...

Tess, I remember buying a hog at the fair once, it was the very best pork I had ever tasted...

Sharona, so far I can't find a glow in the dark bball...I am giving it one more shot tomorrow but if I can't find one I will go console myself at Joanns...glad the building is coming along...

Cindyg.. the Emma fabric is pretty... do you have room for more fabric...

SharonKL... I wanted to get elf on a shelf for Mar.. but they only have the girl elf...maybe I can find one on Saturday, it is a neat story...kind of like the Polar Express.. Marilyn asked if the Polar Express stops outside our house, but I told her it will only stop if she is meant to get on it.. Santa has that list...I love when kids believe and don't have a lot of logic yet...glad you're having fun with your kids.

Suzette, how exciting to have a new granddaughter.. make sure to see that she gets smooches from me... it's part of the QIAD bylaws so you have to do it.

Lois, what kind of cookies? what kind of blocks?

Jules, hope your day is wonderful too.

MaryRose, happy vacation, hope we can get together.

Tess, I havne't had much time to look at that mystery from Bonnie Hunter... so I am way behind...

Dolores... if, in your next life, you live in Hawaii, I will come back in my next life as your house guest....lol... happy shopping.

Velda, glad your sewing is done... your santa faces were way more adorable than I imagined they would be.

Vicky.. not sure about hte shake but glad you're sewing is coming along

Becca, happy birthday shopping.

Judi, what kind of cookies?

you all have a super day,
Chriss

Good Cloudy Cold Morning,

LOL!!! My house still smells like turkey! My sister is coming over with her little DGD today to pick up her share of turkey & stuffing. It was a 21 lb bird, the smallest on the had. I need to do a few uglies & work on my table topper. I think I'm going to make a few pumpkin & sour cream breads as gifts. I'm just going to make my sandwich cookies.

Suzette.....OH happy happy dance for Lydia. Just read that lovely name in a book yesterday. I'm sure her quilt will be done very soon even with Christmas sneaking up on us.

Jules.....have a wonderful day.

Lois....I love the sound of your day quilting & cookies = a great day.

Mary/rosebud.....any day that ends in vacation is a wonderful day. How long is your vacation? Enjoy!!!

Tess....what type of sausage are you making? Do you freeze it? I love Mystery quilts. I had a quilting friend on Long Island & we would do them when they showed up in magazines. It would be fun to do one again.

Dolores....I'd like to live in Hawaii too. I've never been there bur I know I would love it. I want to learn how to make a Hawaiian quilt.

Velda.....I'm with you the PO is overworked this time of year. Hope you get all your sewing done.

Vicky....your shake sounds yummy. happy you are making good progress on your blocks.

Becca.....I had a friend in college born on 12/25. She grew up having her kids party on 6/25, so much better for playing outside. Hope you energy holds out.

Judi....sorry to hear the party was just OK. WOW that is some quilter. That means she's on her feet all that time. My new guild has a brunch in Jan at a restaurant. I hope its good. I think I heard there is a big lottery pot 400 million? I did hear it before I had my tea.

Well I'm off to dress Start my day..

Love & Prayers.......Kathy

Oh, there's nothing more frustrating that not having a quarter for the cart at Aldi's!!!!

I've spent every day so far this week Mom-sitting. Dad's show was last night, and he had a blast. I feel like they are two little kids, and they bicker about each other to me..... Dad can't hear and Mom is so tired that her oxygen is getting low. (83-86 on Wed.). She's getting weaker and it's so difficult to see.

Today, I'm off with DH to Tampa, to try to get something done about his pain management, darn PCP doesn't want to increase pain meds by ONE pill per day!!!!

Got good news (I guess) as I went into the Spouses Support Group. The biopsy on my throat came back as pre-cancer cells, called Barrett's Esophagus, but the meds I am on will help and I'm to keep doing as I'm doing and return in 3 years for follow-up. 3 years!!! Guess it can't be too bad. Now, on to loosing weight (a lot of what I'm going through is related to obesity - wish someone would have said something earlier!! It's much easier to loose less.)

Hoping I can get some sewing in sometime. Maybe this weekend, or when we get back from Tampa.

Suz - congrats on baby girl. She was a big baby. My job gets in the way of my quilting, too. It's the pits.

Jules - you really flew here today! You have a wonderful day, too.

Lois - are they saying how much longer you will have to have PT?

MaryRosebud - I enjoyed hand sewing the binding on my Christmas quilt for the same reason - it was covering my legs and keeping me warm.

Tess - the mystery quilt sounds fun but I've never done one. My own quilts are mystery enough and I have the pattern and picture to look at from the get go - LOL LOL.

Dolores - I've never been to Hawaii but my childhood friend moved there and has never come back. His mom said the Hawaiians don't like people from the mainland unless they are there as tourists and are spending their money there. For instance, she sent her son and family a big box of cookies for Christmas. When they received the cookies they were all broken and someone poured salt all in them. They tracked it down to the people in the post office there. Seems they didn't like seeing packages with a return address of the mainland - in their case, Texas. I don't know why people can't just be nice to each other! I haven't quite finished shopping, some of my packages are coming USPS or UPS and I don't even have them yet and I haven't wrapped the first gift.

Velda - you are so sweet. The time does fly by or it seems that way a lot of the time. Other times (like when you are waiting for a certain day to get here) it just drags. Like October.....waiting for the quilt show.

Vicky - I bet that quilt is pretty without the yellow and orange. I have to force myself to use oranges and some yellows. I know some people love "cheddar" color - YUK!!!!!! LOL LOL Oh, well, to each his own, right? I'm like you - I lean toward the pinks, blues, greens and purples. What is kefir?

Becca - oh, yes, those ugles can wait. They certainly don't go anywhere on their own.

Judi - I don't like wings either. That pro quilter that you sat next to....is she looking like she's getting burned out? Does she have computers on those machines so she's not actually standing all that time and pushing around that long arm? That would make a big difference. Sorry your guild isn't that interesting. I in a guild of almost 400 people and we do have some wonderful guest speakers like Edita Sytar, Bonnie Hunter, Becky Goldsmith and others. These speakers also do a class the day after the guild meeting at one of two nearby quilt shops. Poor Ken - I wouldn't want a Christmas birthday either. My youngest DD's b-day is Jan. 6 so it goes Christmas, New Year's, then Sherrie's birthday and everyone is worn out and broke by then - LOL.

Chriss - I love that "Emma" fabric and, yes, I do have room for more fabric even if I have to keep it in the attic. I will not, however, buy it. I have GOT to get some projects done and I have several in the queue. I'm driving myself crazy. Until recently I pick out a pattern and then go to the quilt shop and buy just the fabric I needed for that project and I wouldn't buy anything else until that project was complete. That's not quite the case anymore - LOL. What is Elf on a Shelf. I've seen that several places but I don't have a clue what it is.

Kathy - yes, that jackpot is $400 million. I think I could live on that, couldn't you? Of course we wouldn't get the whole $400 mil because of taxes, etc. The winner will probably get about $200 mil but I could manage with that.

I'm at work. My allergies kicked in yesterday for some reason. Last night all I did was sneeze, blow my nose, and bling my quilt. I'm only working 'til 2:00 today because I have to go home and change for our company dinner this evening. We have to be at the steak house no later than 5:00. That's great - we'll be home by 7:30ish and I will make a pot of coffee and continue to bling until midnight or so. YEA! Tomorrow two of my grandsons are coming over, I have to do my last minute shopping, and I'll wrap gifts. One of those grandsons loves to decorate (he's very artsy) so I'll have him decorate the bar which I haven't gotten around to yet.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good morning! We have rain and 36 degrees today. Who knew 36 would feel warm. The pond is slushy. Yesterday the dogs were running across it... my dogs could walk on water!

Suzette--congratulations on your new little bundle of joy!

Dolores--I think in another life I would love Hawaii, too! I have an antique Hawaiian quilt... well, my DD has it as she wanted it for her college graduation gift. It is so pretty.

Sorry this is a quick blow through... I'll check back later and try to catch up with everyone.

Good Morning,

I'm late and this will be short. I have a few things to do before I meet my walking partner.

SUZ - congratulations on your beautiful DGD!! I love her name! Did you know she was a girl before the birth?

LOIS - I love cookies, too . . . . . (that was a hint...)

JULES - a wonderful day to you, too!

MARY R - hand quilting in the winter. Ahhhh . . . . warm .. . . cozy

TESS - your mystery quilt sounds so fun!

DELORES - maybe you should consider living in HI in this life! One of my friends retired and bought a house on Molokai. She absolutely loves it there, raises chickens, takes hula and ukulele lessons, and swims! A few weeks ago she even went parasailing! She's 71. But know you'll suddenly be very popular with lots of house guests!

VELDA - good advice! Don't wait until the last minute because weather and emergencies do happen.

VICKY - As a confirmed "Janiac", I can really admire that you (and anyone else doing the SBS blocks) can keep up with three a week. Given the busy-ness of the holidays - and that you make you make your own yogurt! - that can't be easy. I'm a blue/green/purple person, too, and find I need to push yellows and pinks in my Dear Jane.

BECCA - happy Christmas bd to your DGS! My friend and her MIL were both on the 26th, too. They always had a big celebration on the 26th for the two of them, keeping it separate from Christmas.

JUDI - Happy Birthday to Ken!

CHRISS - It's fun that Marilyn still believes in Santa. But are you sure? My mom found my sis and me finding scraps that matched the dresses Santa brought her. We figured it out and I, being a wise year older, told my sister to keep quiet about it because as long as they thought we believed, we'd still get presents! It worked for two more years!

KATHY - I didn't bake a thing for Christmas - yet. Except yesterday I made a coconut cake. For my gifts I made cappuccino mix. In this age of fancy coffees, people seem to like it. And it takes me 5 minutes to make it and fill my containers. I never had it so easy!

CINDY - glad things are looking good, medically, for you. Hope your hubby finds relief. so nice that your dad enjoyed his show so much!

SANDY- happy birthday! Wish I could send you a robin! But I think they are all on vacation . . . .

Today will be all about splitting the wood. Yesterday was a day off for groceries and cooking and a little lolly-gagging. Tonite we have a dinner party to celebrate friend, Lois's, 80th birthday. The dinner will be at their assisted living facility. We just reserve the private dining room, the chef makes a cake, we take the wine, we order off a great menu, and we're waited on hand and foot. All for $14/person and tipping is not allowed. It's a great deal!

Today is Scottie's measure day. He was 15-1/4" tall last Friday. But he always gets suspicious when he sees the two of us with the yard stick even though we try to act casual and hide it. so he ran off downstairs and went back to bed. Goofy dog!

have a good one!

Good Morning Girls

Am up with my first cup of coffee, trying to decide which project around here to tackle first. Did a little shopping yesterday and started wrapping and stuffing boxes to mail. Came home and sewed up a few more scarves, took a little snooze and did a little vacuuming and clean up and that's about it! Need to go over my Christmas list again, double check who's got what and plan for the next shopping trip after pay day!

Suzette... Congratulations and the New Baby Girl! I love her name! 9lb! that had to hurt! Hope Mom and baby are doing well! Good thing she missed being born on Friday the 13th!

Cindyg.... work sure cuts into my quilting too, but without work there would BE no quilting! or heat, or lights or internet. Come on up here, we'll FREEZE those allergies right out of you!

Cindyb... Will keep you and your family in thoughts and prayers throughout my day today. I remember "mom sitting" with my Mom the summer before she passed. Every night we had to have some "spiritus fermentus" and after a couple glasses she'd get a little silly. Years from now, you'll look back at these days and cherish time you spent with her--as difficult at they are.

Judi... If that woman quilts 60-80 hrs a week... when does she sleep? She definitely must have one of those machines that you push a button and GO. May be you need to have a 1/2 birthday party for Ken in June--then he won't whine!!

Dolores... I have my next life all planned out! I'm going to be tall and skinny and be able to sing! I'm going to skip the husband but I want my same kids. And definitely be in some place warmer than Minnesota. How nice you DD & DIL do all the baking! I made 1 batch of cookies and I think that's all I'll do, except for some of my Mom's cranberry bread.

Chriss.. you liked those little bare buns on FB! Oh how I wish I was there to pinch those little cheeks! He's crawling all over the place now and I have a sneaky feeling he'll be walking in no time! A trip to Joann sounds like a good way to console yourself about the basketball. Might stop there on my way home from work tomorrow night too...I'm having fun with some new yarn I'm trying!

Kathy... 21 pound Turkey! Love the aroma of turkey baking. Am trying to decide if I'll make turkey for Christmas day or if the kids want something else this year--Youngest DS suggested Taco's! Love turkey left overs tho!

Velda... Yes another week is done! Some days I hate that time goes by so quickly. I can sit at my machine and the time whizzes by, but at work the days drag! Why is that? We spend all sorts of time preparing for Christmas and BAM it's over just like that!

Rosebud... YEAH for vacation!!! Are you going anywhere or having a "stay vacation" That's my favorite part of finishing a quilt--hand sewing the binding with the quilt on my lap!

Chickie... it 4 BELOW here this morning and 23 above in AK Go figure. 36 would be a heat wave up here and it would melt some of the snow!

Becca... not a fan of the cold here either, tho I should be used to it as I was born and raised here.. Truthfully I hate heat worse. My plan was to retire to AZ in the winter and live in MN in the summer--but that was when my DD was teaching in AZ... now that she lives in AK... well time for a new plan.

Maryz... How did Bill's lessons go yesterday? Did you have to feed your guests? Hope you have a gas powered splitter for all that wood! I love you idea for the coffee mix. I might borrow it, tho I have a great recipe for Hot Chocolate Mix I might use instead.

Well girls, I better get in gear, do a little clean up around here, running into town later this afternoon for a hair cut, then have to exchange something I bought for Evie yesterday- grabbed the wrong size. Need to double check my list again. I thought I had a good stock on hand of gift boxes, but no so... need to pick up some of those and get package ready for AK

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!!

Good morning All! Not much going on here in NW Ohio just waiting for the snow storm. Sounds like everyone is busy getting ready for Christmas. I still have a few decorations to put on the trees and then the decorating will be done. Next is cookie baking. I haven't baked cookies for a few years so I decided to do it again this year.

Suzette - Congrats on your new GD. Sure she will be spoiled.

Maryz - have fun at your friends birthday party.

Cindyg - Your guild has 400 people. Now I know why Houston is quilting central. Enjoy your company dinner tonight.

Cindyb - Hope DH feels better after doctor visit. Glad you don't have to see your Dr. for 3 years, and not too serious.

Judi - Sorry your guild party was not that great. That lady quilter sounds almost too busy. Know how Ken feels about birthday. My youngest son's birthday is December 22, and my oldest son's is January 13th. Not "great" planning, but we always celebrated them as separate parties.

Dolores - I hope you will enjoy Hawaii in your retirement. I have no desire to ever visit there. If I ever moved it would be to retire in Kentucky. My son lived there for 13 years and I loved it. I will probably always stay here in NW Ohio. It is a great place to live.

Tess - Homemade sausage making sounds interesting. How much do you make?

Well, better go and give Pepper her IV before I start my other chores for the day. Still having trouble getting her to eat as much as she should be eating. Have a good day all. Prayers for all who need them.

Sherry
