VELDA - I'm here to please! I'm so happy you liked your gifts! You really know how to make a Santa's heart swell!
JUDI - I'm very curious to see your blocks! I love kitty-talk!
CHRISS - yes, Scottie protects us from everything - knick-knacks, Christmas decorations, sleeping past 0430, eating all our dinner, leaves. . . . He's a very brave little dog. When my kids' dad was killed, Autumn was 8 and she said the same thing as your Rich - "you can't have a better guardian angel than your own daddy." Kids are wise.
BECCA - You and Judi keep reminding me I'm past due on stripping our sheets, too! But not today! And the wood is only beginning. After we get it all over here from our friends' house (7 miles away) we have to split it all. Then we have to stack it all. It's enough for us for next winter so it's a LOT of wood. Beautiful, free wood.
CINDY B - there is a rule of thumb in the medical field that no visit should last longer than 20 minutes. It exhausts ill folks. But those ill folks don't have the strength or will to call a halt. It's usually the nurses in the hospital or family at home that have to stand up and be the tough guys and thank people for coming, but 'it seems Mom is tired now so you are going to help her to bed.' Or something like that. Or you could put out a widespread e-mail or simply hang a sign on their front door telling people their visits are valued, but to please keep them short. If someone gets miffed, too bad! Their visit wasn't about your mom at all, then, but about themselves. That's my nursey soapbox schpiel for today.
TINA - what hunting is there in mid-December? At least you get your DD and DGK's to yourself! Maybe they will like it and stay . . Hope you get your sewing room squared away today. Because I'm touching fabric and playing with all my toys, I never think of cleaning that room as an 'ugly'. Thanks for your good wishes. Maybe they will bring me luck.
MARY Q - so happy that you have some days off to look forward to! Happier yet that I don't have to go to any malls with you! Christmas is ready at our house, now the wood detail this, and then my DS and DBIL will be here next to visit until after Christmas. After that we can pack up and travel south, though DH goes for the weather and I'm not sure he'll be finding anything better than we've got here - almost 50* later this week!
IZZY - so glad your 'visitors' have moved on. Love your farm stories. I grew up on a farm and love being outside, doing outside chores. So while our wood is hard work, I'm quite happy getting the exercise, smelling the fresh cut fir, and seeing our woodpile grow!
CINDY - actually, "BARKER/BARKLEY" were on the list of possible names, but when "SCOTTIE" came up, we just both knew it was the one. And he learned who Scottie was the very first week he had us. But GOOFY sometimes fits him better! His bark is maturing, but I'd still call it more of a 'yip'. Sheltie barks aren't very deep anyway.
CHICKIE - Nice to see you! Seems I'm usually gone by the time you log on. But I know you're not sleeping in! lol! Snickers was funny with the TV doorbells, too. Dominoes used to have an ad every evening about 6pm during the news. They'd ring the doorbell in the ad and every time Snick would jump up, barking, and run for the door and he wouldn't be quiet until we answered the door and let him out to bark his silly head off at an empty driveway. maybe all dogs should be named Goofy!
