Still chilly in south Texas. DH just looked at the weather, rain and cold all week. Yippee, I CAN SEW AND BEAD!! He can be bored, though I doubt that. He will let his fingers do some shopping on the internet and email ever email he gets onto other people. Had a friend tell me he knows when DH isn't fishing by the number of emails. LOL

Jules - Cute puppet place. You will be a hit with the nieces.

Tina - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Maryz - Can I have the Cranberry Chicken recipe, too.

Becca - rest up.

I like it when ya'll put your name at the bottom of your post, then I know who you are. 'Course Jules makes it easy by just using her name.

I have some table runners I would like to get done today. They are real simple. I need to get at least one Santa face done. I'm not even sure it will make it to Canada in time now. We met and became friends with a family at the resort where we fish all summer. They got a call in the middle of the night in July telling them there house had burned down. Everything gone!! except the stuff they had in their RV. They finally got an agreement with the insurance and will be able to start the new house.

I made a pair of Christmas tree earrings for a friend. I had done so last year, too, but she lost one. So, this time I hung them on a different kind of hoop that closes. Hopefully she won't have one go missing this time.

Guess I will open my gift today, though I feel like I should wait since some have not received theirs.

MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Lyn

See Velda posted while I was typing.

VELDA thought you were going to wait til after church to open your gift. Lol

Good Morning Girls

Here it is after 10:00 and I'm still in my jammies, trying to decide what to do today--go shopping or sew! Tough decision as I really need to get out shopping, but I'd rather sew. Since I have Thursday and Friday off this week, maybe I'll wait til then to shop!

Didn't get too much sewing done yesterday. My boys and their families came over for a visit and helped me get my stuff in from the garage so I could get the tree up. The little ones helped decorate so there's a lot of ornaments on the lower 1/2 of the tree! Put up a few pieces of my Precious Moment Sugar town village and the kids helped with that too! My house now looks like Christmas!

I'm kind of getting the bug to make some sugar cookies today... but here's a question for y'all. I now have good shortening, but my carton of eggs says "Sell by November 18th" are they still good? I could put them in a pan of water and if they float they are probably rotten. But don't eggs usually last a quite a while?

Jules, that puppet show doorway is so cute, but how easy that would be to make! So nice to have Charley close by so you can snuggle up with her and watch TV!!

Lyn... it was 7 BELOW zero here yesterday and I don't think it's much warmer today. I'd take your "chilly in Texas" any day over 7 below!

Judi.... always so many memories putting up a tree! I have an ornament that's a little orange life jacket. It says SS MARGE on it! My Mom was terrified of water and always was making sure everybody had a life jacket. For any occasion, even driving on snowy roads... she'd say "do you have your life jacket on?" Makes me smile every year I put that on my tree.

Tina... what a wonderful way to spend a birthday, snuggled up with a sleeping baby and Jaz to keep you company. Hope your day continues to be a very happy one!

Maryz.. Cranberry Chicken? sounds delish!! Do you have snow yet?
Is that tree up yet?

Kathy.. lucky you to win a prize! Good thing you are stocked up on the important things... Peanut butter for sure. Don't forget the tea and/or coffee and TP!

Deb... today is a day to rejoice! No matter what is going on in our little worlds..we must always find something to be grateful for!

Chickie... got my floor done yesterday! Yippee! my least favorite chore! If I don't make it to heaven, I'll be in hell scrubbing floors for all eternity.

Izzy... good day to stay inside with icy roads and sew --you really didn't want to go anywhere anyway did you?

Well girls I better get butt in gear... will be back throughout the day to check in with all my Santas and Elves!

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Morning all,

Brrrr, it's cold outside! We are up to 15* here in Yelm. I think it got down to about 11* last night/early morning. Sure hope everyone found a safe, warm place to rest their heads.

DH took DGS home a little while ago. We only got him for one night this weekend. Oh well, better than nothing. On Friday night, his church had Jammies for Jesus! Basically, the kids go in their PJs and watch movies and have snacks. He just loves doing that. I think they do it about once a month. So, we picked him up early yesterday morning. Went to see "Frozen"....it was pretty good. Didn't show some of the scenes that were in the advertisements, though. I hate when that happens.

Tonight we are having dinner with the "girlfriend's" parents. Not sure what this is all about, but the kids arranged for us all to go to dinner to "get to know each other"! We'll see what happens...

Happy Birthday, Tina. Sounds like a great start to your day! Hope you have the best birthday ever.

Jules, sounds like your "girly" time was perfect! I bet you puppet theatre will be loads better than anything that can be bought!

Debbie, I hope your work day flies by without a hitch!

Maryz, your dinner menu sounds fancy! Hope you have a great party.

Judi, wow, sounds like you have everything under control. You can just sit back and enjoy the holiday season!

Becca, hope you get back to normal soon.

Kathy, hope you are prepared to hunker down and ride out the storm! Now you can join the Dear Jane ladies! Sounds like you class was fun.

Izzy, hope your weather gets better. The goats are just adorable!

Chickie, hope it warms up even more for you. Please take some pics....sounds beautiful!

Lois, enjoy you sewing time and I hope you have a great visit with your friend. The pork roast sounds yummy!

Morning, Velda!

Lyn, enjoy your sewing and beading weather! Would love to see some pics of you jewelry.

Well, guess I better get off here and straighten up the kitchen. That will be it for my uglies today. Then, I think a nap may be in order!

Hope you all stay safe and warm. Prayers for those in need.

Lots of hugs,
Mel

Good morning,

Just waiting for Church this morning. We had a wonderful Ward Christmas party last night. Dinner and a program, Stu was one of the Wisemen. He did great. Fussed about his paper with his part coming apart, so I was working on flipping the binding down, so he asked if I could sew the two pages together, so he would not lose or drop them on stage. Of course I did, big smile from him. One of those Mastercard moments -priceless!

Yes, there will be pictures of the house decorated. Tree still needs some finishing, but other than that, it is done. Sarah did a beautiful job on my stairs.

Judi - your kids twins live here at my house! Mine always check to see where their ornaments are on the tree and have claimed special ones that only they get to put up!

We are still very cold here - the roads are hockey rinks! Even though they have been plowed and salted. We went very slowly last night and still slid in spots. Coming home is up a slight hill, we just ran the stop signs in the neighborhood, no one was in the way, that was the only way we could get up the hill to our house! Glad that the Chapel is only 1/2 block fom the house.

Well better get going,
Hugs
Jana

Good morning... what a great day.. there is still snow on the mountain behind my house...actually it's more like white blotches here and there but Mar is in her snow pants and she and Jerry are headed to find some to play in... and I get to do my own thing while I have peace and quiet...

Maryq.. did you get yoru tree up? we could start a new trend of shopping in our jammies, the problem is you are shopping in MN and I am shopping in Cali, people wouldn't equate the two and we would end up in the loony bin..lol... maybe we should stick with jeans...lol... did you get your stockings made? maybe I will make Richard one.

Judi, I love reading your post where Liam and his grandpa are pals... I loved my time with my grandpa, he made so many memories for me... give Ken a pat on the back from me, even though Liam doesn't realize it now when he is older he will...my shopping is almost done too... I got Rich a wallet and am filling it with gift cards...

Jules, I love the puppet theater door thing.. it's great...

Tina, your birthday is starting out wonderfully, hope it holds many happy memories...smooch those kids for me...hugs to you and have a blessed day.

Kathy, I love drawings.. congrats to you.. what fun to win..sounds like you found a great group to belong to...I am so glad you moved there..

Izzy, thankfully your obsession is quilting... you could have picked a much worse obsession... therefre tell DH it's a blessing that quilting is your obsession...lol.... start singing Aretha Franklins R-E-S-P-E-C-T....LOL

Lyn, I have to admit.. my fingers did most of my shopping this year... Mar and I did go to town yesterday.. Jerry wanted flannel shirts and there are some things I like to see in person.. the ones at Penney's and Sears were thin as can be....I also like when the girls sign their names to the bottom fo their posts... I know who most are but there are some I don't know very well...

Mel.. do you think DS is going to propose to the girlfriend... oh gosh, are you excited.. is she a nice girl? I can't wait to hear... I love jammies for Jesus.. what a cool idea.

my shopping is done.. I spent $150 or more at the mall and got the free crystal bowl...it says right on the box.. fine crystal accent bowl made in china...lol... is that a treasure.. and imported crystal bowl.. it must be worth all of a dollar..

today I will finish that last load of laundry and go play in my room...

hope you all have a super day,
chriss..

Launnnnndry is done and put away,,,,kitchen is cleaned up...except for the floors...I decided to clean up the sewing room a bit and maybe sew a little....fire is warming the downstairs nicely. we are going to DD for a Birthday party for Nolan...he is 8 already,,,so I don't have to cook we will have subs and pizza there,

I need to get my BOMs for December (there are 6 ofthem)done and just keeping up the house,,,If we get a wee bit of snow,,,I will be ok. XXXOOO Miriam you are right,,,,use the BBQ outdoors only....but when our power went out for a week in the winter we had roaring fires in the fireplace and slept in sleeping bags on the floor in front of it...DH and I took turns tending the fire and we had some great BBQ food....Kids played checkers by kerosine lamp and decided they didn't want to be pioneers after all...

Good afternoon from wintery, SW. Pa...For those who like the snow, you could say, it's a "winter wonderland" but for those like me, I've had enough, cold and snow....Bring on the sun and 80s................

It's not been a good morning in this household...Jim wasn't having a good morning so we didn't leave the house...I did miss going to Mass and then of course breakfast with our friends but felt it better to stay home...

Chriss, I really like your idea of a wallet filled with gift cards....Now you have me thinking...Of course the girls would love to have a Coach wallet but that wouldn't leave any money left for the gift cards....
It's Jim that needs to have the MOHs treatment, his cousin is the dermatologist, who has taken care of him all these years...At the office, they'll often tease Jim about having the thickest file (something he's not proud of)...But the poor guy has been through h*** and rarely complains....

Tina, as Mary said, welcome to the 29 club...Hope your day is the bestest ever..And it does sound like you're off to a good start....

Kathy, I think the "name" is very popular, no matter what year...We have 2 in our family, 2 neighbors, 1 or each side and another we have breakfast with...You people are everywhere, lol.....

Maryz, your dinner sounds really delish! If I could, I'd be knocking on your door with dish and silverware in hand....How was your luncheon yesterday? And did Scottie get his picture taken with Santa?

Chickie, I can imagine the pond covered with snow is something to see...We have carpet on all our floors and I keep telling Jim, I'm going to take it up and do wood but he thinks it would be too "nippy" on his toes...I keep reminding him, he has 2 pair of slippers in the closet that would take care of that problem......

Izzy, I know you're enjoying your day....Just hear it in your post...How lucky to have a hubby that sings to you...Jim tells the story of being in HS and everyone was to try out for chorus...He kept telling the teacher, he couldn't sing and she kept insisting, "yes you can"....Well, he took the music and started and she very nicely said, "you're right".......

Maryq, It's always a struggle for me to get out of my jammies...Just this morning, I told Jim I didn't think I'd get dressed, sure don't have to worry about anyone stopping by, in this weather....And as far as shopping in them, I think I'd be joining you and Chriss in the loony bin......Enjoy your day, no matter what you do......

Well, time for me to make my move to the living room and help the Steelers...........
And, Lyn, just for you, I'm signing my name.............

Have a great day............
Dorothy
