Re: Saturday 7th December
Good Morning to everyone. To all of you with ice snow & freezing temps stay warm & safe.
TINA That is why I dislike Big box stores..Never go unless I cannot find it anywhere else.
I did get tree decorated, gifts are wrapped. So baking is left & cards to address.Still have some potholders to finish but no rush as 2 wks to go.
Today I am going to a Christmas Luncheon at Church where I help quilt.
Should be fun.
To those who need prayer you are in mine .Enjoy your day...Becca

Re: Saturday 7th December
Today is Pearl Harbor day... truly a day of infamy. My dad was a Merchant Marine in the Pacific Theatre, and DH's dad was a pilot in the European Theatre (both are deceased). There are fewer and fewer veterans of WWII still living.
Nelson Mandella was my Mother's age. It was interesting to see the changes in his life that prison made. He learned patience and waited, and what a leader he became.
It’s too cold here! Actually, the temperature is 10 degrees, but with the wind chill it’s -3. The pond is glazed with ice. I’m so not a cold-weather person. I can’t get warm if the temperature is under 50. I’d like to crawl in a down-comforter-filled den and hibernate until spring. Unfortunately, I must go out today—meeting my friend for coffee then to visit Mom.
I can’t complain, really… we did not get any ice on the roads—just a little snow that packed on them. I’ll have to watch my driving, but it could be so much worse.
From yesterday… Velda--The Santas are darling; I’m sure you had fun making them with your friends. I hope Willy gets better quickly.
Scrappy Pat—I’d been wondering about you… HUGS! I’m so sorry for this recent development and hope it will not be serious.
Debbie—you are worse than we are… so sorry you have to go to work and can’t stay home and inside sewing. Be safe!
Tess—I think you should write a letter to the store or the HQ in Bentonville. They have put all the little stores out of business and now act like the customer is nobody. I have lots of issues with them. I’m not sure how old you are, but as a senior I’m tired of being treated like I’m invisible. I like Velda’s remedy of taking it to the service desk… unfortunately there is usually a long line there…
Kathy—have fun at the quilt class! Hope your weather doesn’t get nasty!
Judi—those littlest ones steal the show at the recitals. I’m looking forward to your quilt photos.
MaryZ—have a fun day with your friends. Too bad you won’t get to do the Santa experience with Scotty.
Jules—I saw where your Australian family will be here next week. Enjoy your visit! So neat that you have everything accomplished and wrapped!
I’m sorry for not staying longer to chat. I need to get ready to head for town…
Have a great Saturday—stay safe and warm!

Re: Saturday 7th December
Good morning!
Jules - yay for almost being done. I saw the pictures of your nieces on FB - they are so darn cute!
Debbie - hope you stay warm on your way in to work. I put my cuddle duds on (long johns), because I can't abide cold air going up my legs. Hope everyone wants what is on the menu today.
Suzette - I'm glad you have Monday off to make up for the day you're missing for the wedding. Hot flashes - yuck. I hope you're feeling better today. You are entitled to feel down, my dear. We'll be here to help pick you up.
Lois - I bet your Elna was so happy to get home! Have a great day sewing.
Tess - your experience at walmart is really maddening. I agree - you deserve the same amount of attention as any other customer. Since I can be not very nice at times, I think I would have asked her to show me how to cut it and print off the tag. Good grief - I can't believe that! Have fun with your mystery quilt and yes, not having the rulers is a perfectly valid excuse.
Tina - enjoy the craft show.
Velda - I like your way of handling the walmart thing MUCH better! And I love your Santa block - how cute and festive.
Kathy - have a wonderful day at your quilt class. Drive safely.
Judi - I love the dance recitals - and the younger they are, the cuter they are! Hope you get to work on your quilt blocks today and that you survive ToysRUs.
Maryz - good heavens woman, I'm so glad you found those cookies! I but the big tin of Walker's shortbread at the Costco's to give out. I sure hope Suzette's doc can recommend something. My doctor won't let us (my sisters and I) take anything, even herbal, because she said it mimics estrogen. I agree about Christmas prayers! I can't wait to see Scottie's pictures and have fun at lunch.
Becca - two weeks? Oh my goodness I need to get it in gear. Enjoy your Christmas luncheon.
Izzy - I was sorry to hear about what happened with your DFD. I agree 100 percent with your decision. Poor DH - I should send y'all a video of all the deer walking past the windows out here. Yesterday it was a 5 point buck and his harem. I think I will join El's thing also. A PJ day sounds wonderful!
Miriam - sorry you're so cold. Maybe you need some long underwear too! I really like the ones I have - flannel on the skin side and silky stuff on the other side - oh so warm. Enjoy your lunch today.
Pat - hopefully this is a blip in the road. Prayers continue.
Our furnace got fixed at about 4:30 yesterday - just before the sun went down. It was the blower roller overflow thingy - just needed to be reset. YAY! I was thrilled to have heat again. It only got to -3 last night and is 4 here already - heat wave! Seems like today is the day for dining with friends. I'm meeting my BFF in town - we're headed to Pandora's to get new beads (our Christmas present to each other) and then out to lunch. DH will be home from Alamosa before dark and then we're headed out for Mexican food. Have a wonderful day! xoxo Sharona

Good Morning All,
Sounds like you are all very busy with Christmas. I am going to try a make a few things for friends they don't take to much effort an I do have some lovely fabric but first but do a few uglies an clean in the sewing room, I am going to go crank up the heater in there see if it will warm up enough to work in. This house is not centrally heated.
Yes, I've gotten upset with WalMart to here lately use to be my favorite store!
I started on Tamoxifen yesterday, I am so hoping I don't have a problem with it, I saw in the leaflet it can cause hot flashes I am really not ready for those either but as long as it doesn't make me ill to my stomach (have very sensitive stomach)I'll try not to complain. Got call from Clinic my PET scan is schedule for Tues. not looking forward to that! Have pretty strict diet on Mon. prep for test no caffeine after 9am Mon. no carbs sounds like fun right? lol
It's been fun reading what all of you been working on getting ready for the "Holidays"......Velda love that Santa face! it's darling! need to go look at photos see what new stuff has been added.
Have a great weekend everyone. Prayers for those in need & safe travel for those that will be traveling over the next few weeks.

Re: Saturday 7th December
Good Morning From Sunny but FRIGID Minnesota! Out my office window is a beautiful view of tall Pine trees covered in snow! The view outside the office door is not so pretty--it's the rest of the messy house!!
Just waiting for my coffee to kick in, then I'll turn on some Christmas music and start some chores. With enough coffee I can get this place cleaned up in about 2 hours, then I'll head down to the sewing and laundry room! And if the mood strikes me I'll head out to the garage and bring in my tree and decorations.
Today I'll be working on my SS gift for co-worker and I have to make 2 new Christmas stockings for Corinne and Nolan. I made them stockings when they were born, but they need bigger ones now as Santa has to fill them with treats! My nephew and his wife had their twin girls the other day, so I really need to get the Twin Sisters quilt done--at least before they go to kindergarten! Brynn Rae and Bailey Ann--Brynn had to go to a Children's Hospital for some breathing help so any spare prayers would be appreciated.
Lois.. happy to hear you have your Elna back! I love mine too and even tho there are other machines in the house, none of them do what Elna does! What model do you have? Right off the top of my head I don't know what mine is, but it's computerized and has all sorts of fun stitches!
Tess.. another Elna owner!! Sorry to hear about your experience at WM.. that sucks. The thing is....if we all stop shopping at WM because of their lousy service... they don't care!
Velda... your little Santa Faces are so darn cute! Wish I could come down to TX and join your group! At least I'd be warm!
Judi... you are brave to go to the Toy Store!! But I always say there's a thin line between brave and crazy--I've crossed it several times!
Maryz.. I've now replaced my expired shortening and I'm getting the bug to bake--me of all people! A dinner party for 8? What are you fixing? Would you like a 9th!
Suzette... Hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding today. Will there be a dance? If so, kick up your heals and enjoy!
Sharon... so glad you got your heat fixed!! This is not a good time for the furnace to go out. Mine is 27 years old and I'm just waiting for someday to wake up and have it be cold in the house!
Pat.... No caffeine? No carbs? Oh my gosh! After your test I think you should go out to Panera Bread or someplace like that and have a big cup of coffee and a HUGE French Bread sandwich or something.
Will keep you in prayers for all good test results!
Chriss.. Wouldn't it be nice if you could go shopping in jammies--so comfortable! I think we should start a new trend. Heck I've seen young kids in the stores in jammie pants! Was going to stop at Joann for more minke last night, but it was too cold and I was too tired. If it doesn't snow here again tomorrow, it's on my shopping list!
Chickie... I remember my Dad telling me the story of Pearl Harbor--he was sitting with his Dad listening to FDR on the radio. He joined the Navy shortly after that and was a flight instructor--teaching men how to fly! You have seen the movie "Pearl Harbor" haven't you. I've watched it a zillion times!
Izzy... Saturday is always a good day to stay in PJ's.. If that's what makes DD happy--go for it. I wonder if she could feel the tension with the DFD and is relieved in her own way to have that gone now. How old is your DD?
Kathy... Have fun at quilt class. I hope the roads are clear and dry for you. I have to say MN does a wonderful job on the roads.. high way clean and dry when I drove home last night!
Tina... hope you find something cute at the craft show. I haven't been to one for years and when I do go, I look at stuff and think "I can make that"--except for the Barbie clothes--that's something I have no desire to make!
Deb... You have WINDCHILL? hope you have a good day at work and can get home to a nice warm house and sewing room.
Well girls, If I'm ever going to get down to sew today I better push self away from computer and get to work. Kitchen first, then bathroom, might even seen if I can find the top of my dining room table. I did ask room mate if she would clean her bathroom... we'll see how that goes- she's still sleeping and is going to the movies today--that's her Saturday thing.
Wishing you all a most wonderful warm Saturday!

Tina... hope you find something cute at the craft show.

Re: Saturday 7th December
The coast of Texas is not suppose to be this cold!! Hope everyone up north is snugged in.
The Santa faces that Velda posted are from a pattern called "Button Santa Holiday Runner". You will find it on this web site:
http://www.happyhollowdesigns.com/'>htt ... signs.com/
It's a table runner with 5 faces, but a friend and I wanted to make little wall hangings for our kids so we split up the accessory kit. The beard is "OZsome Acccents Ivory Novelty Trim", not sure you can buy something similar at JoAnn's.
HOT FLASHES - Try "I Cool". You can get it at WalMart, Walgreen and even the grocery store. Takes a month or so to work, but it DOES work.
May sew today.
Lyn
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
