Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
Good Sunny Morning.....
Yesterday got away from me. The Insurance agent was here for over 2 hours but I have a much better understanding of what I need to supplement Medicare. I picked one & he'll be back to have me sign up. Nothing like waiting to the last minute. I ran errands after that, went to 2 LQSs & bought no fabric! I kept my eyes closed. I picked up bias tape & that non-skid stuff for rulers. I hope it works my new rulers slid. today I'll sew & after the ins man I plan to go to the mall with my sister. Talk to my DD1 last night she went to the pancreas dr yesterday her procedure is on the 30th. I'll go down on the 29th & we can spend New Year's Eve together with some Sushi.
Lois....Good luck with your PT extension. Yesterday I drove by a JC Penney's I'll have to check it out.
Suzette.....I love the sound of that coffee shop plus a friend & Joann's sounds like a great day.
CindyB.....I'm so sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. I will add your name to my list. I can't wait to open my package!
Sharon.....after days of clouds I'm happy to see the sun. We might go up to 40. Happy sewing.
Judi.....Oh yes...enjoy your free time. Good for you only 2 gifts left on your list. I hope to get some clothes for the DGC tonight.
Chriss.....I will surly give Kim a hug for you when I see her on Dec 29th. my SS is some one who's taste in fabrics is different than mine but I admire very much. Her things are lovely. Keeping Marilyn & you in my prayers. Such a sassy age.
Maryz....I'll be over for stew I've been craving it. I should make some but first I need turkey!!!
Tina....love the idea of girly paper on DH's gift.
Chickie.....your dance card is full just try to speed up the music through the uglies.
Love & Prayers to all in need.....Kathy

Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
Good morning!
Lois - can't playing with insurance be frustrating? Hope you hear something today. Sounds like you're almost done with your Christmas shopping - good luck food shopping today.
Suzette - in my haste to get off before they cut electricity yesterday, I forgot to say happy birthday to you! Have a great time at the coffee shop - what a great idea. I'm thrilled you were able to get a good night's sleep. How sweet of your son - have fun at Joanne's.
Cindyb - how wonderful that they are closing in on what is causing you to feel lousy. I'll be praying - please come back in a week to let us know! My SS package is also veeeeeeeeeeeeeery close to delivery. It won't be long now!
Sharonkl - great to see you! I love looking at those DGC on FB - they are so cute. You are doing a marvelous job with them. I also watched Charlie Brown - I just love that show.
Judi - you sound like me with those prelit trees. I add about ten more strings of lights. My family calls it a Dolly Parton tree because it is so laden down with lights and ornaments. I still put up the ones the boys made when they were little - they go on the top of the tree. Those special ornaments - I just love pulling them out and remembering all the Christmases past. Geez - I sound like a Hallmark commercial!
Chriss - I sure hope you are wearing your warm knickers today to keep warm. As I type this, it's 2 degrees out and still snowing. The snow is too dry to accumulate (according to our weatherman). Not that my experience even compares to what y'all are doing, but during the Thanksgiving festivities, the oldest granddaughter from Alamosa thought she could sit in my chair. Now I don't care who sits where, but she is in the testing boundaries phase, and had been pushing them with me when we were downstairs away from her parents. I'm sure I sounded like a real grinch when I kindly reminded her that was grandma's chair. She thought about it for a second and then could tell I wasn't going to give in to her and she moved. Now this is the same child who dropped chocolate pie onto the carpet because she refuses to sit while she's eating. I still haven't been able to get the stains out. Her parents were furious but it's only carpet and it will be replaced by wood floors in a couple of years. All that to say I guess kids think we will give in if they are mouthy/pouty/screamy enough.
Maryz - I put both on my tree - I like all the color so I'm glad they won. My DH doesn't like cartoons either, which is why we have two tvs. Sorry to hear about the gerbil funeral. The boys went through a hamster phase - they truly are disposable pets. We have a litter box, but I switched over to clumping and what a difference! Plus I got a litter thingy that is like a diaper genie so it's really easy to clean out. So Sharon, I agree with everyone else - a dog and cat would be grand for the grands. Enjoy your brisk walk!
Tina - smart girl to wrap your DH's present in pink. Are y'all going to get snow or just the cold and wind? Sounds like you're making a huge dent in your Christmas shopping.
Miriam - you are so sweet to feed the birds. I need to get a bird feeder for out here. Stay warm!
Kathy - I'll be praying for Kim's procedure. How fun to spend NYE with her.
Karlene - glad you kept tabs on the meal - good to know. I bet y'all had fun with Harley!
I'll be doing Christmas cards today and putting up pictures. We've reached our high for the day (6), and the temps will continue to drop thanks to a visit from the Siberian Express. Sure looks Christmasy out! Have a great day. xoxo Sharona

Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
Good Morning Girls
It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas! Woke up to about 3" of snow on the ground and it's still snowing! Working late shift today so I hope that by the time I have to leave the plows are out and the roads will be clear. Just checked the traffic cameras online and they are pretty messy and traffic is at a stand still in places along my route. It's been warm the last few days but sounds like we're going to be heading into really COLD temps! Why did I wait so long to do Christmas shopping!!!??
Chriss. I thought it was just boys that argued all the time! Jen didn't much, but the boys at about age 10-11 would argue about the sky being blue! Below freezing in CA? Bundle up! Do you have warm mittens?
Judi... I have a little pre-lit tree too..and I agree, not enough lights! I've taken those lights that are supposed to look like icicles and added them too. That's on my to-do list this weekend--get the tree up and some décor done. I just have to figure out WHERE to put the tree this year, as it involves moving some other furniture around to make a spot for it.
Cindyb.. will keep you in lots of prayers in the days ahead for all results on your tests and procedures. Once the feminine thing is taken care, you will feel better in that area for sure! Best procedure I ever had!
Sharonkl....hhhmm what pet to get for the kids. We've had a bird, a hamster, fish, a lizard and dogs. The hamster got out and ate a big hole in the carpet, fish tanks really stink when they get dirty, a parakeet isn't bad, but the cage still needs cleaning, We had to buy crickets to feed the lizard and keep it warm all the time. I had temp. custody of Jen's cat for while, until she started peeing in my dryer of clean clothes. But a DOG... even tho you have to potty train them and walk them... it's still the best pet ever. I miss having a dog in the house and would gladly trade my room mates 2 cats for a black lab!
Tina... Great idea to wrap DH's gift in girlie paper!! He'll never guess that it's his!
Kathy... you wouldn't believe all the mail I've been getting about Medicare insurance plans!! I toss it all. Luckily I have insurance through work so don't need to worry about it yet! They must know I'm getting old. I even get medicare ads at my house for DEX! I toss those too! He hasn't lived here for 13 years! Will keep DD in prayers for her surgery.. how great that you will be able to be there for her and to celebrate the new year!
Chickie... sounds like you have quite a day planned..floors, laundry and sewing! I like the sewing part the best! Sounds like my weekend coming up! I'm still trying to figure out how one person-me- can make such a mess! I've ignored the dust for the last few weeks and it's starting to thicken up a bit!
Lois.... I agree with Maryz... how somebody who doesn't know you can make a decision about what you need amazes me. I run into the same this all the time with the patients I work with. I practically got into an argument with an ins. gal on the phone because they wouldn't cover a med! I waited a few minutes, called back, talked to somebody else and it is was all covered in a minute! Go figure! How is the foot feeling? Does food shopping tire you out? Put your foot up and relax when you get home!
Sharona... those cold temps you are getting are headed this way! Somebody reminded me yesterday that we only have 4 more months of this until spring. What an optimist!
Maryz... Is your tree up yet? I switch it up too year to year. Before we sold our drug store, I stocked up on LOTS of lights and if I really get into decorating I have light every where! Some years it's all white light with all red ornaments, sometimes it all blue. Am still working on the room mate issue--every weekend we have this "what are you doing this weekend" conversation. This time it will include "would you clean your bathroom?" Her big thing is going to movies, sometimes 2 or 3 in a weekend! And when she's not doing that, she's either in bed or on the couch! YUK
Suzette... glad you got to sleep in a bit today. Have a great time with your friend today! Sounds like a fun place to go for a good cup of coffee and fun conversation!
Well, girls I've been sitting here for almost an hour.. so I better get up and see what I can get done before I have to get ready for work. Brought in one box of Christmas stuff and it's still sitting in the entry way, so think I'll go play with that for a bit.
Wishing you all a most wonderful day

Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
OH my what a night I had last night. DFD had mental break down and is no longer with us. I have to go home today and pack her stuff up. DH rehung doors and DS coming over to patch walls. Keep us all in prayer. I think we are done doing this. We have had 4 with this situation and this time I was attacked as well so we are getting too old to deal with these type of problems. We just prayed for calmness after she left and thanked the Lord for our DD who has disabilities but not any mental psychosis.
Soooo my home will be normal once again
Well not really I am still there LOL. I am far from normal LOL Church tonight to help calm nerves and weekend with just DH and DD
Sewing in the future like crazy:))
Sharon get cooper a hamster. Fish are a pain to keep clean and he really cant play with them:). Hamster cage easier: you get a ball for the lil guy to run around house in. He will love it:) cedar chips keep smell down and you just dump and wipe clean with mr bubble and put in fresh once a week. make sure to get wire lid and an aquarium. They chew through plastic cages:)) then your hunting house for your new pet loL My kids loved theirs. We had gerbil it was cheaper:)) they have tails like mice. My SIL has pet rat but UHHHH too creepy for me. White red eyes and all LOL
Well gotta head to next school. So check back later.
God bless and happy thoughts

Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
Good morning!
It is COLD HERE!!! We are at 9 outside and that is after the sun has come up. We received about 4 - 5 inches of snow yesterday - the yard looks beautiful all covered in white - ask me again about how beautiful snow is in a couple of weeks! LOL
Michael's experiment worked down here in the Batt Cave - it is warmer now that he diverted some of the heat from upstairs to down here.
Yesterday Michael and Sarah were clearing out the garage from junk - from when she moved in here last year, etc. This is so we can park the second vehicle in the garage this winter. Well, as Michael was working up on the ladder, putting stuff away on the upper shelves, he forgot how many rungs up the ladder he was, and miscounted as he came down - and fell off the ladder on to the floor - just a couple of feet, but landed on his shoulder - popped it out of place, but it popped itself right back in. He is sore today, but doing fine. He just had to scare me!
Waiting on more boxes of Christmas to be brought upstairs - Stu will be here after school today to do that for me. Ethan helped too - he was the train engine and shoved the empty boxes into the room where they are stored.
So I am trying to finish up more Christmas sewing - now it is my stuff - so it may get done and might not! LOL
Have a great day
Jana

Good early afternoon from warm, sunny, SW. Pa...What a crazy country (weather wise) we have...We're having spring type weather and the west is having winter...Oh well, Mother Nature does like to show us who's boss every once in awhile......
I talked to Kathy last night and she said, there's lots of snow in Reno and the people don't know how to handle it...I remember when our youngest DS moved to N.C. and it snowed and he said the same thing...And he laughed because he said they had 1 snow plow for the whole county and when that plow came through, he plowed up all the reflectors that had been in the middle of the street....
Today is a purrrfect day to finish the outside decorations..That is if I can get all the stings of lights to work...Why is it, after you get them up, half of them don't work, even if they're on the same string???????
Izzy, Oh my, are you OK? So sorry to hear of the problems, but you're right, you do have to take care of yourself.....
Sharon, personally, I'd say get a cat or 2....But, when the kids were growing up, we had just about anything and everything that walked...I put my foot down with slithers....We've had the Aquarians, 3 at one time...One had red tailed sharks, one had those African frogs that would jump out the of the tank (I accidently hit the heater button and cooked them)and the other had normal fish...We even had a monkey, named Jocko and I wouldn't wish that on anyone....He was a cute little thing but bad and they smell..(Previous owner had trained him)...We have had the hamsters that drove the cats crazy with their ball...But, you do have to make sure the ball doesn't roll down the steps...Not a good outcome although all the fur sticks straight out and for awhile, it does look cute...
But, I'm sure you'll come up with something and the kids will love it.....(Just don't get a monkey)......
Well, I think I'd better get moving and get something done while the sun is shining............
You all have a great day................

Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
Good morning, good morning,
We are in the 50's but I understand that arctic air is headed our way. I finished up a throw made from t-shirt knit fabric. It was an experiment, but I'm giving it to the teen girl who is having problems controlling her seizures. I've started working on sewing the binding down on one quilt and have changed to a different stitch which is slowing me down a little as I go through the learning curve on it - trying to retrain my brain.
Sharona - I tried getting a hold of my parents yesterday as the cold front was heading in but they were out and about. I hope they are hunkered down today and staying warm. Can't wait to see pictures of your new building. How is the Pastor's son doing?
Chriss - Maybe Marilyn will pop out of the pre-teen attitude earlier than my girls did. It seemed like the best cure was when they witnessed one of their friends in 'mouthy' mode and they saw what it looked like when they were doing it. I think to them it feels like they are being cool, but when they see someone else doing it they see how rude and stupid it looks. Hangest thou in there!
Maryz - I'm hoping to do some cards today too. I've been so bad over the last decade - very hit and miss on whether I do cards, but I'm going to try this year to get them done. Of course, I'm off of most people's Christmas list now since I have been so delinquent!
Miriam - do you like having the hard wood floors? Is it more weekly maintenance than carpet? I bet Odie and Tink loved getting out. I have not had a dog since I was a kid, but I think when we move that I want a dog and it is for a very selfish reason - they need you more than a cat! (I want a cat too!)
Dorothy - I think it sounds like Jim is a keeper - making you breakfast and all! David is wanting the snow to melt out of the gutters so he can get some lights up, but with the cold marching this way, I'm not sure it will happen.
Hello to the rest, I need to run now,
Karlene

Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
Just got to work and gobbled down my lunch. This morning I had my Gyn yearly and then went for my mamms to be grammed. My neck is already sore. Happens every time. By the time I was thru I felt like I'd been exposed nekkid to the world this morning. I guess we all feel like that. UGH. So now I must get busy so no time to chat.
Prayers sent up for all issues spoken and not spoken.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Re: Happy Hump Day Wednesday December 4, 2013
Good afternoon...it is gloomy but no rain.
I am a goodwill hunter!!! Lucy and I went to day and she found toy (of course) and I did find her a few clothes. But most of all I'm excited because I got a new to me rowenta iron for $3.25. It doesn't look like it has been used at all.
Izzy...sorry about your night. I agree maybe your time is done with fostering. When I was little out neighbor was foster parents for kids. I still don't know how they could give them up. They would get babies from the hospital. Of course back then I didn't understand but I do now. Glad your dd is ok and the disruption doesn't bother her.
Irishgram...I think I am leaning towards a hamster. I'd love to get a dog or cat but honestly I don't have the time or money to take care of it the way it should. Animals are expensive. I so agree with the slithers thing....no way!!
We might put the tree up tonight. Yesterday when I got Coop off the bus the bus monitor was asking him when he was going to put his tree up!! She is very sweet. I asked if she had hers up yet. I did put the wreath on the door yesterday.
I am off to wait in the car line....fun, fun. It's a hurry up and wait thing.
