Good Morning All

I want to join in with the Birthday greeting for CindyG.
Happy Happy Birthday, sweet friend. Hope the day is "sew" perfect
and special.

Teresa, Hope to see pictures of your quilt. I like a miter corner, too.

Talked to our kids back in Illinois. They lucked out. They got some hail and high winds, but not a tornado. The reports were all around them. So I was glad they were safe.

Don't know if Shelbyville got any damages. I don't have any one to check in with there.

Got to talk with our other son in North Carolina. It was so sweet to hear his voice and jabber with him for awhile. I told him, we need to use Skype and get the children on. I miss them all so much.

I have a new project to start, thanks to my sweet SS. One of my teaser gifts was a neat tablerunner pattern. I liked it so much, that I am making three of them for Christmas Gifts. I went to JoAnne's yesterday and spent a bunch of money gathering the coordinating fabrics. I had to guess at the amount I needed for the backing. As it ended up, there wasn't enough left on the bolt for what I THOUGHT I needed, but I took it all anyway. Now I am glad I did, as it turned out, after doing a little math, I think I will end up with enough. I might have to piece one of them, but that will work.

I am quite excited about my NEW project. I love you SS for sending this pattern. It sure has worked it's magic to give me the idea for Christmas Gifts and it was just what I needed to pop me into a really good mood. It's fun to be excited about a new project.

Love you, SS, Can't wait to find out who you are:)))))

Happy Day to all
Velda
HUGS, đź’• Vel

Good Morning,

So sorry to read of all the storms in the middle of our country. I pray none of our forum friends have been hit.

CINDY G - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 29 AGAIN!

SUZ - glad you're almost done with your project. If you decide you don't like the tape to piece the batting, Cindy uses fusible interfacing and just cuts strips of it. It's cheaper and she really likes it. I haven't tried it yet, but will next time I run out of tape.

MEL - happy belated birthday to your DH! Glad you had such a nice celebration. And I love that your son is coming home for TG! I wish he'd bring my DD with him.

TERESA - When I was doing the quilting, I liked the Golden Threads tissue paper for quilting. My DIL used quilt markers on her white quilt and it didn't come out well. so you're wise to not go with those. Though the new frixion pens seem to work excellently.

LOIS - glad you got some shoes. Bet it feels good to have real shoes on now. I have to say, I so rarely wear shoes (only if I go out of the house) that my feet have grown another half-size! But my shoes don't wear out!

TESS - I know Kenderosa Sue makes a lot of Bonnie Hunter quilts. Perhaps she's made that pattern.

BECCA - good luck at the doctor's today and hope your errands go quickly so you can get back to your sewing machine!

CHRISS - you're so right - so many quilts, so little time. I haven't made any Bonnie Hunter yet but have really loved all the ones Sue has made. I'm trying to use my stash down, too, though when I find a dynamite sale, I have to admit I do stock up. But I very rarely buy anything full price unless I'm desperate to have it.

CHRISSY - thank you for giving us news of Judi. Thank the Lord she's OK. Now I hope our other buddies find a way of letting us know how they are.

VELDA - I was worried about your family in IL, and am so glad to hear they are OK. Sounds like you have a real spirit producer there! Hope the fabric peicing works out. No one ever turns up the back anyway! Happy sewing!

We never got our Santa pix taken yesterday with Scottie. Turns out their website had the wrong date posted! But he did get to play with other puppies. Every two weeks they have puppy play time in a big play pen. Scottie was the oldest puppy, but the newest member of the group. Also the smallest. He took 15 min. to come out from behind our legs! He's also learning to "high five" us now!

Today I plan to finish the quilt top I'm working on - Anvil Chorus from McCalls S//O '13 issue. But I've planned to finish it that last two days so we'll see how it goes. But I'm 7/8 done anyway. and the good news is that the quilting frame is empty once again so it won't have to wait!

Prayers for anyone who lives in the path of those terrible storms. And also those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines. I have a friend, originally from there, who arrived there on vacation just a few days ago. They are going to spend their time there helping victims. She says it's unimaginable.

cottony hugs to all!

Happy Birthday Cindyg....Hope your day is Great!!!!

Sure hope every one that was in those terrible storms yesterday are okay. We had terrible high winds gusting to 51 mph right here in Hutchinson looked out the window one time looked like a tornado of leaves the way they were swirling this way & that, but we didn't have what the others got no rain or hail.

I am going to have to check that pattern out have a ton of scraps to use up after the first of the year.

I've tried that tape too for batting didn't really care for it.

Sounds like everyone had a great weekend.

Good morning! Happy 29th birthday Cindy! Hope your day is special just like you!

We are much cooler here this morning than we were yesterday. Oh well, guess the 70-degrees of yesterday can’t last forever. I had a nice walk from where DH was working on taking out a cedar tree to back home and doing laundry. The dogs walked back with me, and the wind was at my back… very pleasant in the sun.

I’m so sorry for all those people in the paths of the tornadoes. It’s so hard to look at the mess and see everything gone. Tornado season is not in the fall; this was very strange.

Chrissy—so glad Myles received his letter from Dorothy and Toto. Thanks for letting us know Judi is safe!

Mel—enjoy your “baby” when he arrives! Keep enjoying your DGS while he still wants to stay with you. They grow up too fast.

Tess—enjoy your sweet potatoes! Bonnie Hunter quilts are beautiful; Tumalo Trail is lovely. Of course, I really like her scrappy quilts.

Becca—Know your placemats will be so pretty! Our temperatures are crazy, too.

Chriss—I’m here… we were way south of the destruction. I guess our wind and rain went through the night before.

Judi—we are thinking of you! Hope power is restored soon!

Velda—so good to hear your family is safe! What pattern did you receive? Hope to see pictures!

MaryZ—I can see your ball of fluff playing with the other dogs—too cute! Sorry you don’t have a photo to show us. I looked up the Anvil Chorus quilt—like it… lots! Enjoy!

Suzette—hope you have a good day! I don’t think I’ll get the batting tape but will continue to baste the pieces together when I need to piece it.

Pat—those are some high winds! I don’t think ours were that bad—sure took care of the leaves.

We had a beautiful full moon last night. The dogs kept thinking it was time to get up. With the coyotes around, there’s no way they were getting an open doggie door until this morning.

I need to get busy. I’ll go to town today and pick up some prescriptions, get some groceries as I didn’t go Saturday, and check in on Mom. I want to talk to our druggist and see if he is in the Medicare prescription plans we are thinking of going with this time. Sure hope to find some sewing time…

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Good morning!

No time for a proper visit - I need to get cracking. HB to CINDYG. Enjoy your last year of being in your twenties.

Miriam - is Tinkerbell stay inside as well? So smart of y'all to not let them outside. We have lots of coyotes around here too. I was saddened to hear that Joplin still has a lot of rebuilding to do.

Maryz - how cute of little Scottie to hide behind your legs.

We have nieces and nephews in East Peoria - they are all safe. DS2 in Troy, OH is safe as well - the storm and winds missed them completely. The East Peoria people were in the basement of their respective churches when the tornado hit. How awful to have such powerful storms this late in the year. Prayers going up for them.

The bell tolls - better get! Have a great day. xoxo Sharona

Good morning, good morning,
Happy Birthday Cindyg!

Maryz - glad Scottie enjoyed puppy playtime. I can understand hiding behind legs if all the others are bigger than you are! I thought that was funny about your two cats watching you clean up from a mouse - in their territory! Maybe they were friends?! Our one cat loved to groom baby bunnies while the other cat looked on in disgust.

Dorothy - I'm sure you being out of the room had nothing to do with the Steelers doing well! It's like those commercials - it's not weird if it works. More kitties coming your way! I confess I've kind of been hoping to have a stray find us. I'm not supposed to go get another pet, but if one 'found' us....!

Chriss - glad you had a good weekend. I need some hustle in my bustle if I'm going to finish up my three projects by this next weekend. Being a procrastinator, I seem to be the most productive when I have a deadline.

Mel - it is hard to believe how time flies with children. *sigh*

We are in a wind and rain watch today. Hard to believe the devastation in the midwest.

Suzette - it is almost easier to whip stitch the batting together on my cutting table than to take the two pieces and the tape to the ironing board and hold all that together the way I need it and then grab the iron to. I use the tape strips if I just need a little bit put together for a small project.

Mel - Olive Garden sounds good. It's great that you will see your son on TG. I didn't read the posts here at all over the weekend so I have to go back and read. Gotta make sure my nosey self doesn't miss anything.

Teresa - I mark my things now with the Frixion pens but on white or pastels I tend to use the Crayola Washable Markers. I've had such good luck with the markers washing out completely. Does your DD know you are going to follow her where ever she lands?

Lois - hooray for sneakers. I wear mine almost every singe day all day long. They give lots of support and are comfortable. Good thing I'm not the fashion queen!

Tess - WOW 38 jars of sweet taters. It's a good thing I don't know how to can stuff or have the time to do it. I don't have enough room to store all those jars (empty or full).

Becca - I hope the doctor finds you fit as a fiddle. I think we are to get cooler tomorrow. Until then it's a balmy 85*. UGH. I'm so ready for cool!

Chriss - I can't believe you don't know who Bonnie Hunter is. She's the scrappy and almost the tute queen. She was the guest speaker at our guild one night. You could spend hours on her site.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. To tell you the truth I almost forget all about my birthday because there is some REAL excitement going on in November between the Houston quilt show, Wurstfest or the Nutcracker Market and Thanksgiving. Friday night Don asked me if I wanted my birthday present then or wait until the actual day. Took me by surprise because I forgot all about my Bday. He looked anxious to give it to me so I said I wanted it then. It was a stand mixer by Oster - not the purple Kitchen Aid mixer I wanted - but it's pretty enough and will get the job done. After all, I cook as little as possible. I has a dough hook in case I want to make another loaf of bread - LOL. I did make brownies and the frosting over the weekend.

I finished the Christmas quilt this weekend. I used Deb Tuckers Lemoyne Star ruler and method to make stars for the corners of the border and I must say they look dang good. I ordered hunter green Minkee for the backing and it will just fit the width because it's 60" wide. WOO HOO No piecing the backing. I also straightened up my cutting table a little bit. I have so many projects sitting on one end of it and it's driving me ca-razy. Now I'm at work and must get busy.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.
