Re: Thursday, October 17
Happy Thursday!
MARY R - your quilt is beautiful! I love the way you did the back. And what a fab cake! Do you 'do' cakes? There's your second part time job! How cool!
PAT - will be thinking of you today!
SUZ - You've also been in my thoughts the last few days! Happy the study has begun. Now did you say you take these drugs for 4 weeks and then they schedule surgery? Did your eye-dr's wife take these drugs? glad you're getting some cotton therapy finally. The best therapy!
LOIS - No boot, but no weight bearing either. How are you getting around? Still crutches and WC? Are you in any pain now?
SHIRLEY MAE - Maybe it's you and Sharona talking of moving and packing, but last night I dreamed I had to pack up our house, too! I wasn't too happy about that! lol! Hope this treatment isn't too bad for Rod. I've got him on my list!
VICKY - my mom used to make and can grape juice. I loved it!
KATHY - putting your sis on the list, too. Hope all goes well with her. Enjoy the babysitting!
Our visitors are going to Portland today in their car, leaving their motorhome here. They say they will be staying 1, maybe 2, possibly 3 nights. DH is certain they will only stay 1 and will be back tomorrow. They want to visit a nephew that won't be available until Oct 21st. We'll see what happens. I think we'll spend the day quilting DD#1's Christmas quilt. It's about 1/4 finished. And I have material to make some tablecloths and napkins for Christmas gifts so I think I'll get started on those. CHICKIE will remember the red/white fabric we bought together 3 years ago.
We have a lot of special intentions this week, so I'm offering up some big prayers for you all!

Good morning
)
MaryR, love your quilt, it turned out so pretty!
Pat, praying for you.
I can't stay and chat, not feeling very good
( DD had another migraine last night
( I think it was brought on by their lab puppy getting hit and killed. Somehow she got out of the yard, she hadn't for a long time so they thought they had it fixed where she couldn't. Sad day.
I pulled Jaz's tooth yesterday so that's done.
I hope you all have a wonderful day. Prayers for those in need.

I missed a bunch of you! my oops!
CHRISS - I don't want to be discouraging about it, but since I retired I have less spare time than I ever had when I was working! and from what I hear among my 'peers', almost every other retired person will tell you the same thing! So no extra time here to share!
LOIS - I think a blue roof would be pretty! What color is your house? We got a new roof this summer, too - a sort of rust color. We saw that colors are very popular now.
VELDA - do you shrink wrap your boat for winter or just clean, drain fluids, and put in antifreeze? All I know about boats is that it's best if they stay on top of the water. Hope you're able to get away for TX. LYN is going to get all the fish down there if you don't hurry!
JUDI - good luck at the doc's! Some day I'm going to try prairie points. I thought of doing it on a quilt I just finished yesterday, but it would have been too busy. So another day another project. So good of you to put together and quilt those BC quilts!
TINA - so sorry to hear of the puppy getting hit. my heart goes to your DD. Have you been sewing much lately?

Suz - I'm so glad you got your ball rolling and that you enjoyed your time in your studio. I admire you for doing the study. My mother was a guinea pig for by-pass surgery back in the 50's. Both Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. DeBakey did her surgery and it was very rough going but look where they are today. By-pass surgery is routine now. And look at the lives that have been saved.
Lois - I don't think I've ever seen a blue roof. Can you post pictures? Those roofers are amazing, aren't they? I see them walking around on very steep roofs and they walk like they are on solid, flat ground.
Rosebud - I'll have to go find the pix of your quilt. I thought the same thing as you. I walked into my office and wondered how it got to be Thursday so fast.
Shirley Mae - I love what you said - keep them guessing what you are up to. I feel sorry for Rod - he's bored which gives him plenty of time to think about how badly he is hurting. Last night I managed to lay my finger on the hot oven rack and I think I've hit that burned place a hundred times just doing my normal stuff. Wondering how many times Rod will hit his sore spots. How long will it burn?
Vicky - hug those babies for me while you are there. Tia must be feeling great. Oh, shoot, I just read where you aren't getting your hug day. Well it gives you something to look forward to tomorrow.
Kathy - prayers for your sister being sent up. Enjoy your baby sitting.
Chriss - sorry you are having a long week. Mine's flown by.
Velda - you need one of those under the counter vacuums. All you have to do is sweep the floor toward the opening and it sucks out all the dirt and dog hair. Rich folks have that - I don't. I'm sure keeping my fingers crossed that you get to come to the quilt show - hope hope hope. How do you winterize your boat? Our winterizing consists of running the gas out of the motor - that's it.
Two weeks from today I'll be at work but my mind will be on the next day, Friday and the Houston Int'l. Quilt Festival - BOING BOING BOING BOING. I'm really getting excited. For now I still have lots of work to do for year end so I'd better get busy.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good morning!
Yesterday was senior center day. I took a big tote of scraps and dumped it on the table, talk about scavengers!!! There is a new quilter in the group and needs to build her stash so I will try to help. Many of the ladies have taken her under their wings.
Shirley Mae, maybe there are no lookers because there is a contract on the table.
No real plans today, maybe working on some Fall and Christmas wip's.
Tomorrow will be a different story, I have a mam-squish and doctor's appt.
Suzette, it looks like you're on your way.
Chriss, as a real estate agent I never had a 8-5 job. I did work evenings and weekends-showing property and open houses. My hours were flexible and allowed me to participate in my kiddos field trips and PTA and school site council. I think an 8-5 job would be too confining for me. Now my son is following in my footsteps with his two little girls.
Sharona, don't overdo it!
Rosebud, are you sure you wouldn't want to start a cake business?
It's been fun chatting you over coffee or tea, make it a fun day!
Love, Lucie

It is a good morning - we are down one less rodent in our house! The trap is set to see if the deceased has family. I hate the thought of mice in the house - I've been spoiled having cats. You're right Chriss, we do need a cat, but not till we move.
Pat - prayers are with you today and for your recovery.
Suzette - glad you were able to start the drug trial.
Rosebud - that quilt is gorgeous! The couple will treasure it.
Chriss - I would send you some spare time, but I'm sure it would be lost in the mail. One thought that has helped me is 'all I have to do today is what God wants me to do.' That helps quiet the 'you should...' voices in my head and helps keep things in the right priority. But here I am saying that when I don't have a precious 10yr old girl to parent along with working full-time. You have a full plate. Praying for God to give strength to your arm!
Kathy - I can't believe it's almost been a year since you moved!
Tina - sorry about the puppy. That is hard.
Mel - how are you holding up? Yeah, the furlough is done - at least until Jan. 15.
Our neighbor stopped over last night and David went out to talk with him. The neighbor pulled out of the driveway a little bit later but David never came back. I looked at Elizabeth and said, "I think he took Dad!" Awhile later they returned - he had needed some help moving something. David was just grinning when he came in - I told him we thought he might have been kidnapped!
The construction project continues at church so my office still doubles as the pre-school room on Sundays. I look forward to having my space back. The project that was supposed to take 1 month, is now in month 5.
Okay, onwards and upwards,
Karlene

Good morning!
Suzette - what a comfort to get to hear input from another doctor. Did the drug make you sleepy? I'm so glad you got time in the studio yesterday.
Lois - is your blue roof a new color? Enjoy!
Lyn - sounds like you're really getting a handle on cleaning up the mess.
Mary/Rose - your quilt is simply stunning! And that cake - my goodness. Have a wonderful day at work.
Shirley Mae - you made me laugh about your packing and God's timing. Prayers for Rod's skin cancer treatments and his boredom. I am not a morning person either.
Vicky - I know you will have a blast with the babies.
Kathy - praying for your sister's mamo today. You seem so much more content in your new digs - I'm so glad you got to move up by your sister.
Chriss - I wish I had some spare time to send you. Maybe in one of these boxes waiting to be unpacked. I vote for today being the last day also.
Vel - so glad your fishing ended on a high note! What wonderful memories you will have of your summer on the water.
Judi - hope the garage roof goes up without mishap. Happy boiler starting day! You are going to town on those quilts. Fingers crossed that today is your last time to see this doctor.
Maryz - you are quite the hostess! How's our little Scottie doing? Have a great time sewing. I wouldn't wish moving on anybody, even in their dreams. !
Tina - oh NO about the puppy getting killed. How awful. I hope her migraine is better today, and that you're feeling better also.
Cindyg - I was going to say something about how men being bored is dangerous, but the words wouldn't work. So glad you were able to say what I was thinking! I have burnt and cut places on my hands so many times I don't even feel it any more. But it sure can mess up sewing.. I so badly want to get to the quilt festival - I'm very happy you get to go BOING!
Lucie - how sweet of you to help the new quilter build her stash. How wonderful that you had a job that allowed you such flexibility. I'm glad your son was able to follow in your footsteps.
Chrissy1 - prayers for My. Poor little scruff.
Karlene - one down, hopefully no more to go re the mouse population. EUGH again. Five months later and they're still not done? Wow. Thanks or the stress reliever on time management - that's great advice. I'm glad David wasn't kidnapped...!
Today we're going to stain the pine woodwork. It really took a beating over 25 years! I need to find my Pfaff - I asked DH if he knew where it was and he couldn't remember - SIGH. I need to get all the electronic thingies inside before it drops below 0. Have a great day, my friends. I've been praying since before I got out of bed for those in need. xoxo Sharona

Good Morning Girls
Just a quick hello this morning, as I'm getting ready to go pick up Jen at her MIL's house... I get her and Eli for a couple days! YIPEE! We may take the baby shopping with us for a little bit and then come home relax and chill out! Eli is such a good baby and I'm stocking up on all the hugs and kisses I can get. Saturday Jen's dad is having a get-together at his house and his wife invited me, but not sure I'll go--tho it would give me more time to spend with Jen and Eli and Michael will be here then too.
And I want to let you know that you are all in my prayers today. I haven't quite caught up with all of you, but know that Suz is starting her new meds, and Pat is having surgery and Judi is busing making more BC quilts. Prayers for Myles and Rod today as well.
Better run for now, but I'll catch up with you all soon
