Re: Tuesday, October 15th
Good Morning!
TERESA - sorry you were on the DL but glad you're up and doing again! Sometimes all it takes is good rest. I have Edyta Sitar's book, "Friendship Strips & Scraps". I'm sure you can find it on her website or Laundry Basket's. I couldn't tell you if it's sold by the pattern only.
TINA - Let's hope Baby Easton holds off until his proper debut date rolls around. But even if he's born today, he should do just fine, though he'll buy himself a little vacation in the hospital and maybe a few extra "O's" (oxygen).
SUZETTE - glad the study is finally getting underway. How soon will you know your surgery date? So sorry your friend is moving away. I hope you are still able to keep in close contact. Computers are wonderful for that.
LOIS - I've never worn a cast or a boot like that, but I can only imagine how it feels by now. I'm anxious to hear the results of your dr appt.
CHRISSY - prayers for poor Miles! and for you today!
KATHY - pass those cookies, please! Choc Chip are my favorite. I like to add peanut butter and oats, too.
JUDI - Could you take your bone med at night and let the achiness happen while you sleep? Or would it keep you awake? Fall cleaning? but it's not February yet!!
CHRISS - I really didn't like soccer when my son played. My DD loves it though. Both her boys played for years. You go enjoy! I thought you had an interview last month but this must be one of a set of 3 or something? I think you are being over-interviewed. The seafood restaurant? haha. They did find an old hen out back for me. They put her in a creamy mushroom sauce over fettuccini and she was pretty yummy! But she wasn't on the menu. I had to ask.
PAT - will be saying some prayers for you! Isn't your surgery tomorrow? Hope it doesn't get too cold! and hope all the tops work for you.
SHARONA - I was hoping you'd be able to finish at the old house yesterday. but maybe today? When will it go on the market? I hope you're feeling better today!
Our LQS was sold and closed down temporarily. I've been by and peered in the windows a few times now and see shelves of fabric being moved around. So I hope it reopens soon. I can't wait!
Our company is spending the day with other friends in Seattle. We have a free day! and I'm spending a part of it at the dentist. Sigh. but when I get back home with my sparkling teeth, I'm going to head for my sewing room. I don't care what I sew - but that's where I'll be if anyone comes looking for me! also, DH and I are working together to quilt DD#1's (Lara) Christmas quilt so we should be able to make some progress on that today. Lara is anxious to have it as her brother and sister already have theirs.
DH has his teeth cleaned yesterday and needs a crown. $1400. So I guess it's for sure that we are off to AZ so he can go into Mexico for a crown. He's had dental work done there before at Algodones, a little border town with an American trained dentist. The money he saves will pay for our fuel to AZ and back after the first of the year. But me - I have all my dental work done here!
Scottie got to go on my morning walk yesterday morning for the first time. He loved it! He had so much fun and was so funny that Lori and I were doubled over laughing some of the time. But when he got home, he got to the top of the stairs and collapsed right there in a sound sleep for 2 hours. That's where DH found him. "You broke him!" , he accused. "You broke my dog!" lol!!
Wishing you all good things today.

I am having trouble posting here. I could never post yesterday, and it won't take my post today. If this works, I'll be surprised.
That was strange. It worked, but it wouldn't take a longer message when I tried to edit it. I give up! Thinking of you all!

Teresa - Edyta Sitar came to our guild not too long ago and she was wonderful. I wanted to make every quilt she had there. I really enjoyed her presentation. I did buy a pattern from her and it's finished 1/2" squares. Yes, I'm a glutton for punishment. I haven't started on it yet but I have gathered the fabrics.
Suz - your whole ordeal would be scary for me. Please know that we all have your back and are praying for you so much.
Lois - I must be behind (what else is new?). Are you putting any weight on your foot?
Chrissy1 - it's good to know you follow your own advice. Prayers sent up for Myles. I feel so bad for the kiddo.
Kathy - yummy - the brownies sound so good. I made Pumpkin Muffins the other day and that recipe is wonderful for me, the non-cook. One yellow cake mix and one can of pumpkin. Can't get much easier than that.
Judi - you crack me up about Ken and his boiler. We have a regular coffee maker and a Keurig but we only use the Keurig if we want just one cup of coffee or hot cocoa. Keurig has so many different models now than they did when we got ours. I hope your bone med doesn't make you feel too bad today.
Chriss - Gavin is back living with my sister and her DH so he could return to the high school he's been at for a couple of years. He graduates this year. They live about 30 minutes from us. They are retired now. My sister was a teacher so she makes Gavin be on his toes about his school work. He is interested in forensics as he took forensic science at the school in San Antonio. This school now doesn't offer it so he's disappointed about that. He wants to be either a police officer or fireman (keeping it in the family) but wants to get a bachelor's first. He will have to work his way thru so it might take him 20 yrs. to get thru - LOL. Do you drop Marilyn off at soccer practice or do you stay there the whole time?
Scrappy - oh, goodness, you heat with electricity. At this house we heat with gas and it's less expensive. This house is a lot better insulated than the house I bought 35 yrs. ago. Lordy, that sure makes me sound old! Will be praying and thinking about you on Thursday.
I'm at work blah blah blah. I got a little hand applique done last night as well as cooking dinner and one load of laundry. Gotta get bizzy.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Couldn't get to sleep last night, ktn curled up & purred till I fell asleep. Then, returned later to check up on me. What great dr. Maybe the painting was too much stress on my body telling me to slow down.
Started a ufo, and working on 3rd Unwind pattern, loved it, based on 2.5strips.

Good morning, good morning!
This past weekend was beautiful with the leaves, but this coming weekend should be the peak of color in our area. Growing up I did not like fall, but as an adult it is my favorite time of year.
Maryq - have a wonderful time with Jen and the little ones!
Maryz - It sounds like you are keeping busy with your company. Hope that you can mix activities with some 'down-time' too.
Tina - I didn't know they had moved up your DD's due date. Victoria's is 11/5 so 3 weeks from today. They will the first grandbaby for both me and for Rich's mom. My favorite gift that she got at her shower was a pink swing. My parents had a red one for the girls and they loved swinging.
Chriss - So glad you had a good day with your kids! Soccer - I'm kind of glad the girls did not do a lot of team sports. Of course thinking like that would be sacrilege to my cousins from Iowa who were in every team sport all year long through college and had their kids in team sports by the age of 3. Me and my brother were a great disappointment to that side of the family!
Sue - I've seen you pop in a few times recently. That pecan coffee has me curious. Since David stopped drinking coffee, I've started buying the flavored coffees. I'm using one now that is a caramel drizzle - love the smell!
Miriam - my mom would love the nuts you are gathering. We have 2 black walnut trees, but have never done anything with the nuts. I gathered them up the first year we were here and people told me to let them set and dry and then run over them with the car to remove the outer casing. Well, they never really dried so we never ran the car over them!
Sharona - sorry for your soreness. I'm going to have to start a work-out program to get in shape for our move. David always uses me as his main moving buddy and sometimes it is not a pretty picture.
Kathy - I do that frequently with a recipe where I add the wrong amount of an ingredient and then I have to try and adjust the rest of the recipe. I guess it is better than leaving one out, like when I forgot the sugar in a pumpkin pie...
Well, onwards and upwards,
Karlene

Good morning!
It's my day to watch Drew. His daddy brings him monday nights, spends the night and we take him home late tuesday afternoon. He is a speed demon...he caught on to the crawling thing very well.
I finally heard from my sis. It seems her DH was fired from the Senior Community in Oregon. Since they are a team she had to go too.
This man is a piece of work, he's 58 yrs. old and he's always right and everyone else is wrong. They are now living with their daughter (the Airman)in her apt. in Texas till they can find another job.
Chriss, my dh has been getting alot of info from AARP which is United Health Care, isn't it? I've got one more year to worry about it.
Lois, got my fingers crossed for you.
Chrissy, sorry to hear about Mymy. I've got my mam-squish scheduled for this Friday. My first was at age 37, we've got a history of breast cancer in the family...starting with mom.
Well, gotta go, Drew has discovered electric cords...we thought we were baby proofed!!!
Gotta go chase him,
Lucie

Good morning to you sneaker-inners!
CINDY - glad Gavin is where he wants to be. Too bad he can't get the classes he wants, but there is college. You know "Abby" on NCIS? She got her degree in forensic science because that's what she wanted to do. The accidentally stumbled into her role playing a forensic scientist on NCIS! I think it's a fascinating field. I hope Gavin finds his niche. As for heating - I don't even know what a 'boiler' is, other than some kind of heating apparatus. We have an electric furnace and two woodstoves - upstairs and down.
CHICKIE - glad to see you got on today! So - is there going to be a Halloween party this year? Will you go in costume? Will your DH put on his show again?? Just wondering if we're going to be missing anything good.
SCRAPS - Cats can be so comforting when you're not feeling well. Though I think MY cat is just looking for a warm, comfy place to sleep herself! lol!! Sewing is definitely prferable to painting!
KARLENE - I've been in upstate NY in early October. Your colors rival any we saw in New Engand! Our activities with our company aren't too hectic. Yesterday we strolled the waterfront in Gig Harbor and stopped for a beer. We try to find some little thing each day to just get out of the house. The first few days they wanted to be with us from 9am to bedtime. But they've settled into a routine of hanging in their RV most of the morning.

Lois, I do hope you can kick that boot to the curb!
Scrappy Pat—I will love to get to see you again—best wishes for your surgery to be smooth and you’re feeling feisty again!
MaryZ—I haven’t heard about the Halloween party yet. It’s pretty much an annual thing. Oh, I’m sure my DH will do something… He is such a nut! Must be all that pecan grafting… I think costumes would be fun, but I’m not sure I can get DH to go along with it.
Karlene—some people crack the black walnuts, but we don’t. We have lots of native walnut trees, and mostly they are just messy. One of the coffee guys is going to pick up some. They are extremely labor intensive to get the nuts out, plus unless you really like the flavor, they are quite strong especially in baked goods. Love the pecans and English walnuts, just not the black walnuts.
Cindy—my DD has a BS in Biology with only a class or two short of a BA in Chemistry. She was working in the crime lab and was a DNA tech, drug tech, and had the title of Criminalist. Always interesting. She wasn’t a CSI—didn’t go out in the field but worked in the lab.

At work on lunch shew what a day already:))
You all have been busy. Teresa get your dr or chiropractor to write you an excuse for jury duty.
No sense causing yourself more pain if you can get out of it:)) I have been there. Had it so bad all I could do is stand. Everytime sat tears would flow from pain. Bed OUCH my DH says I love my buddy (body pillow I have to use between my knees to position hips correctly} more than him LOL. It works to keep pain at bay at night. Try it and see. I keep one leg completely on it until of course I fall asleep and find it behind me LOL:))
didnt get any sewing done but did get templates cut out:))
DFD has to walk 3x week to help loose some wt per dr. Well we did treadmill/ her balance too bad to walk down our hill and rocky road. She was on it 15 min with complete supervision at 1.7 and poor thing was sweating up a bucket. We are going to do it again tonight. Keep her in your prayers really over weight and we have started wt watchers and exercise so hopefully it will help shed some pounds. She whined her muscles hurt this morning:(
Well I need to do some paperwork like usual but just wanted to do a drive by and read posts. Hard to read them all at night.
Suzette I hope all goes well at your dr appt. Your in my prayers.
God bless and happy thoughts

Morning Pals, in TN today instead of the cabin in the woods. DGD4 is on fall break. Tomorrow we will go back to MO so she can spend some time with her cousins.
My colonoscopy is over. I have some diverticular disease like 50% of Americans. No berries, seeds, or nuts unless I want to face the consequences. No thanks.
Today will be a cutting day for me. UGRR and some pajama pants are on the table.
Love my Keurig. My friend bought me some Crème Brulee flavored decaf that is wonderful!
Hope you have a quilty day. Hugs ad prayers for all.
