Good morning...happy day before the day before the weekend..

today I need to go by Joann's and get... are you ready for this? white thread... do you believe that I don't have any white thread? some days I amaze myself as you all shake your head and slap your forehead with the palm of your hand...lol

I want you all to be warned...the Golden gate bridge no longer has toll booths. instead they take a picture of your car license plate as you go through and mail you a bill with "immediate attention required" printed on the envelope.... The bill is for $6 and if you can't pay till the end of the month your bill is $31... and if you don't pay you are guilty of "toll evasion" yes, it's a real crime.... wonder what they do for rental cars?

Kathy, hope you get those doctor's lined up....

Lucie, gosh it would have been nice if you'd had gotten me some white thread while you were at WalMart... you live right up the highway from me, you could have easily dropped it off...lol

Karlene.. I wish my son would let me pick things out, take and send him a picture but he won't... he is so picky that I never could just purchase something for him....glad Victoria loves the crib stuff and that you have your dine and sew room back...

Cindy... hope your allergies get better...I love your excitement before the Houston show.... nice that your quilt student has you to help her fix it....

Maryq, I do get to wear jeans to work.. and tennis shoes to.. but no open toed shoes, I guess OSHA thinks that thin layer of fabric really protects my toes.

Judi, you are a gem for putting these quilt tops together, the cost of batting, backing and binding really can add up..it would be cheaper for me to send you $$ instead of sending batting or thread, would that be ok?

Tina.. keep us updated...

Teresa, when he asked if you called it in while you were holding two phones you should have said.. no, I called me and am having a conversation with myself... dork...lol

Jules.. the adoption process is crazy.. Jerry had his interview and I am next.. but they haven't scheduled mine yet..I am thinking things will be done by December which will be our next court date....maybe, perhaps...lol...I am looking forward to seeing pictures, I bet Charley is loving being a homeowner.

ShirleyMae, both you and Rod are in my prayers...sorry he won't let you in the doctor visits with him.. I am sure he thinks he is protecting you but boy it's easier knowing what to expect rather than worrying about what "might" be... hugs my friend.

Lois.. how much longer till you can run around the block on that foot? hope it's soon, you have lots of patience.

Suzette, sorry about the eye thing..the bali quilt sounds very pretty.

MaryRose, this adoption stuff is the nuttiest thing I've ever been through.. Marilyn has been here 2 1/2 years and they are wondering if we are good parents...lol...no wonder people go to other countries to adopt.. it's a good thing I have God or I would have gone crazy by now...

Vicky.. prayers for MIL...is she just aging or is there more going on?

Velda, happy bath day..

Judi, does your mouse just need a new battery?

Kathy, I think I will take a sweater to work also...

for me it's the same thing it always is... work...hope you all have a superb day,
Chriss

Good morning!

Teresa - my apologies - I do have my beautiful Christmas blocks! Thanks so much - I'll go post over in the official thread as well. What a bummer about the water - do they have any idea what happened?

Jules - brrr that sounds really cold. Have a great day today. I would love to be able to come with y'all to Buckingham.

Shirley Mae - I'm shedding tears with you. I will lift both of you up in prayer today. As far as going in to the doctor with him - you can always call either before or after to find out what has been said since you have the POA. Depends on who you get and how their day is going - I'll be praying that they'll share the info with you if Rod insists on you not going.

Lois - hope the rain doesn't stick around long and that your DH gets to feeling better soon.

Suzette - I'm so sorry - how frustrating. If I were there I'd drive you. Prayers being said for someone to step forward to help. Happy Friday Eve!

Mary/Rose - we are still unpacking - I think we will be until Christmas. We spend most days at the old house getting it ready for market, and by the time we get home, we're too tired to do anything here! Oh well - it will give us something to do in the winter. Have a great day at work and I sure hope your ugiles are of the quick variety.

Vicky - yay for you staying home to take care of yourself! Tomorrow will be here before you know it. I hope your DMIL gets sorted out soon. I think that verse is so applicable to your situation.

Velda - have fun with your ugiles. I think Mr Willie leads a wonderful life! What happens if his nails get too short?

Judi - a good IT guy is hard to find! I am the IT guy here at our house - ugh. I hope you get your mouse sorted out. I use the one built into the laptop. Your camping sounds fun, especially the fire part. Good luck on the quilt - it sounds wonderful. Can I send $$ too like Chriss asked?

Kathy - isn't heat a wonderful thing? I'll add your sweet sister to my prayer list. I agree with you and the medical side of life. How is Kim doing?

Chriss - oh thanks a lot - you made me spit coffee on my screen with your comment about Teresa's phones. Christmas will be here before we know it - I'm hoping that will be it for the adoption ordeal. Have a lovely day at work and I hope your toes stay safe.

Today I am attending the 'Ladies of Saddlewood' luncheon. With Karlene's mom!! Someone at my old church said that the Lord had gone before me to prepare us for this move, and all I can say is AMEN. Isn't it such a strange turn of events that I would move into the very subdivision Karlene's mom and dad lived in? Her mom even knows the lady we bought the house from. I know nothing more about this luncheon club - I shall fill you in later. Oh, I didn't mention that when DH hooked up the washer, the cold water was dripping a wee bit. Somehow, he convinced himself the drip was not that bad. I went downstairs three days later and found bubbles in the ceiling and water running down the walls. I've called a handyman, but it seems that out here in the country, business is done quite differently than in the city, e.g., no call backs! Looks like we'll be at the Laundromat this weekend. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

Teresa - oh, you sound just like me. I think of a great retort right after that person leaves or hangs up or whatever. You could have told that guy that you were standing there trying to attract lightening - here's you sign! Oops, that's Bill Ingval.

Jules - how fun to be sewing for Charley's house. Will you be making them a quilt?

Shirley Mae - I would insist on going to the doctor with Rod whether he likes it or not. You need to know what you are dealing with. He's is not the only person his illness is affecting. You have the feeling he's not telling you everything and that's not good - he's creating a trust issue with you and he's going to need you so he's better be watching his P's and Q's. I know you are terribly upset and I'm praying for you both. We are always here when you need to vent. (((hugs)))

Lois - goodness, maybe you should hire a professional pamper-er to come and help you both.

Suzette - I have made that braid quilt. It's easy and fast. I made it for a men's cancer quilt and that's the one my BFF's husband got. He loved it and curled up with it right away. I did mine with blue and goldish batiks. So sorry about the wasted trip to the eye dr. When she dilates my eyes I can still drive but I do go slower and go right home so as not to put other people at risk.

MaryRosebud - start saving your money and come next year. You can make rezzies now at one of the downtown hotels that offer shuttle service to and from the convention center and cancel the rezzies if you find you can't come. Every quilter should come to this quilt show at least once in their lifetime.

Vicky - I missed whatever is happening with your MIL. I'm thinking she was in the hospital and now is in a Skilled Nursing facility. What happened to put her in the hospital. Enjoy your day at home and tomorrow enjoy the kids coming over. Lately I've been craving home time. I hope to have that this weekend.

Velda - my DH keeps saying we should walk the dogs on the sidewalks so their nails get filed but we never do it. Either I'm busy doing something or he is so we just let them out in the back yard to do their thing.

Judi - what is the deal with gluten-free food? HEB has it all over the store and, shoot, I don't even know what gluten is. This is beautiful weather we are having right now and it would be lovely to camp BUT our campground is run by the Corps of Engineers so it is not open due to the gov't. shut down. ***sigh***

Kathy - I do love Mary Ellen's Best Press because it has such lovely scents; however, I also love Faultless starch with the gold top. It's doesn't leave the white flakey stuff on your fabric and it's a darn sight cheaper.

Chriss - us quilters love color so it's no wonder we have no white thread!!! Stop slapping your forehead! It's a good thing we all have God. My student came and got her quilt last night. She couldn't find where I fixed her boo-boo so I guess I did a good enough job.

I'm at work blah blah blah. Going to the grocery store after work blah blah blah. Will go home and fix dinner and get a load out of the dryer blah blah blah. Three weeks until the quilt show - BOING BOING BOING BOING.

May we all get to fondle fabric today.

Good Morning!

TINA - keeping your DD at the top of my prayer list. And good luck at the fair! I know you do beautiful work!

KARLENE - prayers, too, for your parents as they travel. It's a long trip for your dad, so fresh from his surgery. But I'd probably be doing the same thing!

JULES - you sound good this morning! I hope you keep getting better and better!

TERESA - a little excitement in your neighborhood! I hope no one suffered any damages from the flooding. I know poor Lyn is still trying to get repairs done from the Colorado flood. Love your cradle and quilt!

SHIRLEY MAE - So sorry to hear that Rod may be having problems with the liver transplant. And that he won't allow you in to see the doctor with him. Bill and I always go together for most things except for routine stuff. When they're talking medicalese, two pairs of ears are always so much better. Expecially when it's such a worrisome subject. He may say he doesn't want to worry you, but I think the reality is - once someone is "in on it", it's harder to deny to himself. Which is a common coping mechanism. With serious health issues going on, could you ask your landlord to be let out of the lease so you could make the move now - especially since your son is going overseas soon? Hopefully he has a heart and will let you do what you think is best. And even if he doesns't, what's the worst that would happen if you left early? Is Rod letting his doctor know that a major move is imminent in your lives? I'm happy to hear there's good VA care at the other end of your move. God bless.

LOIS - hope your DH gets better soon. I hope it's nothing more than a cold.

SUZ - I'm so sorry you are having so many frustrations with this study. I think you're brave to have agreed to do it anyway! I hope you can get in to see the eye dr tomorrow.

MARY ROSE - You sound so busy all the time. Hope your day goes well.

VICKY - I must have missed an update somewhere - Is your MIL's move temporary? Tia's right - take a day off so you can really enjoy your visit with family tomorrow.

VELDA - Scottie's nails are already getting too long. He's so wriggly that it's hard to cut them. And he hasnt' had all his shots yet so he can't go to a groomer. So we'll give it another 'go' today, or else wait until he sees the vet next week. They will do it - but for $16. We'd rather not pay that much. Do you treat Willie for heartworm? We don't have it here but I hear it's prevalent in TX.

JUDI - I evny you your trip this weekend! and don't vacuum! It's highly overrated. If Ken doesn't do it now, he can do it when you get back. We try to buy batting by the bolt when we find a really good sale. It's a lot but it lasts for a couple of years. We have a roller under the quilt frame that we could put it on but we have so much stuff stored under there that we just leave the batting bolt in it's box and stand it on end in a corner.

KATHY - will say some prayers for your sis. Let us know how it goes. Have a nice lunch!

CHRISS - I always love your posts! you always make me chuckle. Relieved your toes are protected from the dust bunnies at work. No white thread? Really? Did you look on the floor way back under your cutting table? If you had a puppy, HE could find any dropped thread for you! - or bobbins - or fabric scraps - or screwdrivers - or . . .

SHARONA - great to hear from you! From here it seems as if things are moving at lightening speed for you! Bummer about the plumping disaster. But how neat that you are getting to meet Karlene's parents! They sound so nice!! I got such a sweet note from her a few years ago when we all sent her chickens.

CINDY - I guess if you'd been camping when the government shut down, you'd have had to leave, huh. I know that happened to Glenda. I finished my applique 'accents' last night. Yay!! Now it's time to start putting my blocks together. You're a good teacher! thank you! and I bet your student is thanking you, too, for the boo-boo fix!

Scottie is growing fast. You're right - we need to take some new photos. Last night a dog on TV barked and ran towards us on the screen. Scottie got scared, woofed as bravely as he could, and then ran behind the couch to hide!

Finally today our company from Oregon is arriving. They will only stay one night. Will be so good to see them. You prayed so hard to get her, Betsy, through her double lung transplant surgery 18 months ago. She is seeing the doctor at the U of WA and they will be on their way home today. She always asks me to thank you all!!

Our Colorado company is on the move. They will probably be here tomorrow or Sat and they are staying 2 weeks. They have a GPS gizmo in the car they are towing with their motorhome. DH can hook into it by computer and see exactly where they are minute by minute. That's kinda cool and kinda scary - you know?

Hope everyone's day has at least one rose to smell!

PAT, sorry I walked on you. I'm happy that you've finally got a date. Sometimes, I think all the "pre-stuff" is worse than the actual "stuff". Will be saying prayers for you. You're wise to have members of your family on the 'right to know' list. I think I have my DH and all my DK's, as well as my DIL.

Good cloudy and winter weather alert morning from CO. Oh my I had a bad night. I had a bad case of High Altitude Sickness yesterday. We drove to Silverton up past Durango and on the way back down I got really dizzy sick and nausiated. I told my DH I was not well and we hurried back to the resort in Pagosa { sorry rosebud had planned to give you a call}

We stopped at grocery and I went in to get few Items and well I got so light headed that I was clinging to basket. Got back out to car DH loaded groceries and we went to resort. I was freezing cold shivering and so sick. Yum I lost lunch about 30 min later.

Thank goodness I brought the phenegrin with me:)) Rough night I feel like a semi ran me over hurt all over. The altitude was 12,000 feet there the highest we had traveled. needless to say going to stay in today and watch for the snow on the way.

Hope not too much snow got to go home tomorrow. This place is beautiful but I dont think I could deal with altitude.

I am ready for Ky and my sewing room. I have only found one quilt shop open. There are three more on way out of town over the mountain that I hope to stop at. My DH bought me a beautiful amethyst neclace and earrings from one of the old mines here. This man was restoring it on the mountain cant wait to post pics of two lil cabins he lets people stay in and the old quilts on the beds.

Well still sick to tummy this morning . Not eating anything but drinking lots of water. My mouth is so dry.

God bless and happy thoughts from CO:)

Good morning!!

Lovely day yesterday. After the senior center we went to lunch then stopped at wal mart to get my insulin and a few groceries. We made it home before the rain started. It was a cozy day. The jeans came out of the closet and just left one pair of shorts out just in case.

I need to make a trip to the Lake Elsinore Outlets today. I need to go shopping for my son's(only son) birthday gifts. He doesn't like to buy clothes for himself so I do it. So far he wears everything I've bought him. You can't go wrong with underwear, socks, jeans. He also needs some dress slacks for work and maybe a solid color tie. He's my IT guy...I sent him to school to be a computer guy. He can take a computer apart and put it back together...and it works! He'll be 35.

Chriss, did you get rained on yesterday? I think I only have one spool of white thread...I like to use creams or naturals.

Maryq, yes, I have watched most of the Missouri Quit Co. tutorials and made a few of their patterns. Youtube videos are fun to watch and I'm a visual learner or I have to read and reread the pattern many times before I think I've got it.

Shirley Mae, my DH is a VA patient too. We go to the Loma Linda site. We have no complaints but they do take a little more time. You can't be in a hurry with them. Once you're in the system and understand it it's smooth sailing. Sometimes there are glitches but they get worked out. I have registered to www.myhealth.va.gov and I'm able to communicate with his doctors' staff and they seem to respond pretty well. It's better then being put on hold and waiting and then being cut off. Also, just because the owner's Real Estate agent hasn't been bringing buyers through doesn't mean she's not doing her job. She's causing other Realtors to do so by spending money to run ads and putting the listing in the Multiple listing which she pays for. There are alot of behind the scenes activity going on. I'm a retired Real Estate agent and just felt I had to defend the industry...hehe.
I wish you lots of strength and keep an eye on your DH. Prayers are being said for you.

Must get off my soap box for today. Coffee got cold and breakfast is waiting.

Love, Lucie

Hi, It's raining outside, such a comforting sound to wake up to. God is washing our world clean today. And our patio has bubbles all over it. We washed those windows with a bucket of very soapy water a few days ago. LOL

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts, ideas, and especially your prayers. They may be working already. I told Rod the dr might not yell at him so much if I was there with him. He is thinking about that aspect. LOL He has gained some weight back again so liver dr will not be happy. God does provide ways that we never thought about, doesn't he.

No time to reply to everyone but prayers for all today. My world is cleaner and fresher from the rain, my spirits are being lifted by your prayers, and I am ready to take on the world. Well, maybe some coffee first and have to get out of these jammies.

BBL Let you all know what dr says today. Take care, God bless, and have a wonderful day.

ps Izzy, that altitude sickness can be very serious. And dehydration at high altitude can cause a double whammy. Please be careful. You need to adjust gradually to anything higher than 7,000 ft. WE ran into that problem several times when we were work camping at higher altitudes. Prayers that you feel better today.

Good morning! I have no idea what is going on, but I am unable to post PMs or messages this morning.

I haven’t been around much the last few days. DH and I have had a merry-go-round full of doctor appointments—no problems… just routine ā€œold peopleā€ stuff. I have a ā€œprocedureā€ scheduled for next week, and DH as another appointment to schedule his.

My DD came over last evening with three pair of jeans to shorten for her DH. She was going to take just one pair home, but I did all three while she waited and we got to visit. Everyone has been so busy, we haven’t talked or texted in too long.

I went to see my mom after one of my appointments Tuesday, and she literally ran me off because she wanted to sew! Too funny! Of course, she called me and asked me to stop by the next morning and be there while she took her bath. I took her the booklet from our class reunion, and she has been enjoying reading the updates of my friends that she knew. I’m so glad she is so alert and busy.

We are picking and hulling pecans and staying ahead (somewhat) of the birds and squirrels. This seems to be a good year for the nuts. Some years there are almost none. I have also been dehydrating pears and apples. I take the leftovers to the cows for treats. I now have another cow eating out of my hand. Poor Timi has a rival--#48.

I need to read later. My computer is wanting to post updates and re-start. How inconvenient! Hope everyone has a great day! I’ll try to get back here this evening.
