Re: Thursday September 26,2013
Good morning! Yesterday it seems got away from me. I got in some sewing, a walk on one of the trails with the dogs, and fishing with DH in the evening along with the usual cooking, clean up and floors. Today I have to go to town for my eye exam.
Lyn—I’m so sorry about your flood damage. Can’t imagine on the mountain… Hugs! I’m hoping the machines will be o.k. We used my carpet shampooer to pick up water at our son’s house. It worked better than the shop vacs.
Karlene—so sorry about Gus Kitty. It’s always so difficult to let go.
Scrappy Pat—if you are checking here… Hugs and prayers!
Jean—it is so nice to meet another quilter! This is the best group of friends you can find anywhere!!!
Judi—Missouri Star Quilt Co. has Ellie Ann charms. www.missouriquiltco.com Be careful using Annabelle… no long reaching and stretching/pulling… I know the projects are calling…
Chriss—a belated congratulations to Mar!
Lois—enjoy your magazines and the lovely weather! Make the most of your forced “stop to smell the roses”.
Suzette—you were busy! I need to work on my sewing room but not while I have several projects and my Christmas sewing spread everywhere…
Vicky—Mark Twain had some gems, didn’t he! Tia may relax at home and… Best wishes for Tia and Jeny! You might want to soak Kim’s quilt rather than just spray the blue lines. The first quilt I ever did with the blue pencil, I sprayed. It never got washed, and the “lines” damaged and discolored the fabric in the years since. Good luck on the Harley quilt!
Kathy—sorry about your typing loss… Bring on the frog! Best wishes to Kim—good she has someone to go with her.
Jules—hope you get out of your funk and your chest… can your doc check for pneumonia? I’m sure you will be excited when Charley gets her house! What will you be making for her? I remember when you were helping her with her apartment… I’m sure things have calmed for her, and the students and parents love her!
Tess—your care for your mom sounds so much like my life with my late DH and his appointments/treatments, then with my late MIL to all her appointments… Bless you! Do you have some hand work to take for sitting as you wait? I enjoy the mornings and watching the steam/fog rising from the pond, although it wasn’t that cool this morning. We are back to almost 90 here.
Chriss—Marilyn wanted to do well, but you and Jerry provided the examples for her to see and you’ve guided her journey of change and growing. You are funny—I didn’t have a second baby because the first was easy and I was afraid the second would be too difficult…
MaryZ—I used to hold my puppy in my arm while vacuuming. She got to where she wasn’t afraid of it at all. Odie tears out the doggy door when he sees me with a broom or the vac. He probably thinks I have work for him to do, and he knows his destiny is to be cute and lazy… hates having his rest disturbed.
Cindy—whenever I see the ads for Houston, I think of you… BOI-OI-OI-ING!
Time for me to get around here, too… Let the thread times roll…

Re: Thursday September 26,2013
Good morning all,
Jules - hope you get to feeling better. How exciting for Charlie!
Chriss - we are still making plans to move. David is thinking it all through in his head and has a list of things he's been working on all year from getting the house ready to sell, to getting his business ready to relocate, to looking at where to relocate. In some ways I want to be close to my parents now, but I know God is working it all out at the right time.
Maryz - Victoria was scared to death of the vacuum. When she was around 3 I was vacuuming up the stairs and getting close to her room. I stopped so she could run down the hall to our room to get away from the vacuum. I was just about at the top of the stairs and ready to turn into her doorway when she flashed in front of me and ran back into her room, grabbed her bear and came running out again as fast as she could! I've seen videos of kids or pets taking a ride on the vacuum but have not experienced that in real life!
Cindyg - One of these days I'd love to go to a big quilt show. One of these days...
My mom did not say that the doctor found anything with my dad - just that he got a good report on the orthopedic side. So I pressed her about how he was feeling, his vital signs, and she insisted he was feeling better. I never know if they are giving me the full story or trying to 'not worry' me. I think she was being honest, but I'll keep checking in with them frequently until I'm convinced.
Well, onwards and upwards.
Karlene

Good morning!
I am here early as we are making a run to the airport to send off Matt and Sarah to California. They arranged an earlier flight and Sarah's boss who lives in Concord will pick them up and get them to the U-Haul place from the train. Whew! Then it all starts tomorrow all over - with FIL arriving with DH's brother. I still need to get some things for FIL here - later tonight that will happen.
I have a beautiful grassed backyard! It is all down-3700 sq.feet of grass - well almost - just a patch over the sprinkle valve area - the valves are giving us what for in working - but that will get solved! I also have snow on the mountains - across the valley as well as the Oquirrhs behind me - just a dusting, but snow none the less. Oh yes it is cold too! When it went from summer to fall - it went in a huge hurry!!
Last night I helped Sarah get some canning done. She has a Master Preserver's certificate - so I got roped in to making peach pie filling, apple pie filling, just peaches in syrup and pears too! This was the last of what she bought on the week-end and with her being gone - it needed to get done. She packed - I did all the peeling and slicing! She has chicken breasts coming in a week or so that she will also can - makes great chicken salads. Sarah has a big camp stove set up in the garage - two very large burners and the canning pots - so we can have two going at once. Stu helped us too - he is very good at watching the pots for processing.
So I need to head off to the airport with the kids - then I come back and will babysit the other grands for the speech appointment. I think that my day is full!
Matt's new home is getting done quickly - the company gave them a tentative date to close - the end of November! We are planning Thanksgiving dinner - it will be at their home if it is done, or mine here - we shall see. The shingles are now on and the windows are being put in today.
I hear my little one upstairs -
Hugs and prayers

Re: Thursday September 26,2013
Good Morning Girls
Yeah for Thursday.... 2 more days of work! My To Do list for the weekend is a doozy and I'm anxious to get started! Part of me hopes for beautiful weather so I can do some outside chores and part of me hopes for rain so I can stay inside and sew! Shrubs need trimming, garage needs cleaning, sewing room needs a pick-up, and floors need scrubbing!
First of all... Scrappy Pay... you are in my thoughts and prayers today! I pray God watches over you and the doctors who care for you!
Judi... I checked, Missouri Star does have Ellie Ann charm packs! I grabbed a few a while back when they were on the "daily deal" I LOVE charm packs! Glad you are feeling a little better every day... take it easy with Annabelle!
Vicky... Vinegar is a miracle thing.. I buy it by the gallon and use it all the time! A little on my laminate floors, mix with Windex for window washing. I'm going to try that bath tub trick! Prayers for Tia today! and for your DGD Jeny...
Suzette.. My Christmas blocks arrived yesterday too! If it rains this weekend, I'll be getting mine squared up and laid out too! Maybe! Would love to have it done to show off at Christmas time at my house! No date for surgery yet? You will let us know when... I'll be joining in with lots of prayers!
Kathy.... happy to hear that Kim's treatments were approved by insurance. Kind of sad that an Insurance company has the final say whether a person can get medical treatment. Glad she has a buddy with her today.
Jules... Sorry to hear you are feeling so "Punk" these days. That's what my Gramma always called it when you didn't feel good PUNK! Does the weather affect your lungs? How exciting for Charley!!!
Tess. Oh My you're up at 4:00am! Do you get to take a nap in the afternoon? I vote for leaving the quilt out! Are you hand quilting it? It could be an inspiration to keep working on it here and there. From experience I can tell you that things in a closet get forgotten!
Chriss... I got the CT catalog in the mail the other day. LOVE HEATHER. I've marked the catalog with all the fabric of that line I want! SO TEMPTING...Not that I need more fabric mind you, but it's gorgeous. Maybe a little fabric would be my treat for working so much over time! Can't wait to see all the Calendar blocks... I think mine should be there today or tomorrow!
Maryz... my room mates cats are afraid of the vacuum too! If I want them to go back downstairs, all I have to do is bring out the vac. Roommate it supposed to be in charge of vacuuming, but she forgets a lot! Can't wait to see the Pointsetta quilt!! Does Autumn know it's for her?
Cindyg....Hopefully the next 6 weeks will go really FAST for you! I will be there with you in spirit! Love seeing the pictures of you and all the gals at the show! Just now I signed up for the Sewing Expo in Mpls. YIPPEE BOING BOING
Oh Gosh, just looked at the clock.... it's time to hit the shower and get ready for work... Saturday when I don't have to work I'll be back to check in and chat with all of you again. I hate that work cuts into my play time!
wishing you all a great day!

Re: Thursday September 26,2013
Good morning everyone
)
I have a prayer request for you all. My Aunt; the 1 that my uncle put in the mental hospital way back when that actually didn't need to be there at all, just found out yesterday that she has cancer throughout her body. She had a small lump come up on her back a little over a month ago and within maybe 2 weeks when they took it out it had grown as big as a baseball and sadly it was cancer. She just had a PET Scan and MRI yesterday and they said it is everywhere. They are not holding out much hope and actually the Dr that told her within the hour of her test doesn't even know where to start and she is sending her to someone else for a 2nd opinion to see if that Dr knows of something. Please pray that this 2nd Dr can do something about it, my Aunts name is TeAta Hartman. My Aunt has been through so much in the last 2+ years from my uncle, even him filing for divorce last month, he has now dropped the divorce...I'm sure for no other reason except that he's hoping she dies so he can have everything. I know that is awful to say but we are all sure that is the reason. He has moved back into their home because where he was staying with their motorhome closes down at the end of this month for the Winter. I hope he doesn't get mean with her while she is trying to battle this cancer. She has no energy and can only take a step or two at a time because the cancer is taking so much from her. My Aunt did win in court a couple months ago that she is compitant and all there by 3 Dr's and they did cancel my uncle as her guardian and said she doesn't need one at all.
My Grandma could use your prayers too. She has cancer in her eye and they have operated on it twice and after the last operation she had a heart attack. The Dr says she needs a pacemaker but her heart is too weak for another invasive operation. He says she has the strenghth of body of a 38 yr old woman but her heart is worn out, she is 92 and her name is Helen Fee.
Prayers for ScrappyPat and everyone.
Tina

Good morning quilty ones.
Brrrr, it was cold on the ride in to work this morning. 37* in Yelm. By the time I got closer to work, it had gotten up to 47*. Not sure why it was so cold at home. Anyway, I LOVE this time of year!
My goodness, there sure is a lot of prayer needs lately. I keep all of you in my prayers every night, along with some special prayers for those special needs. Pat and Suzette, prayers continue for you and your medical folks. Kathy, what a blessing that your DD is getting the treatments she needs. I hope the hyperbaric chamber is tolerable for her. For some reason, I had envisioned a long metal tube, kind of like a sensory-deprivation thing. So glad it is not like that!
Karlene, so sorry about Gus.....cyber-hug!
Jules, so sorry you spa treatment didn't last. Hope you get sorted quickly. Does this time of year make your depression worse? My mom always gets worse around Fall/Winter-time. Hope you feel better soon. Congrats to Charley and Stu. I bet they are so excited.
Chriss, congrats to Marilyn. How exciting for her. Kudos to you and Jerry!
Maryz, that is such a good idea with the vacuum-monster. Hope it works for Scottie.
Judi, glad you are feeling better. Let me know if you want me to check with my LQS for Ellie charms. I know I saw some there before, but it was a while ago. I can call them if you need me to.
Cindyg, I can't believe it is almost BOING-time! Boy, the time sure has gone by quickly. One of these days, I am going to go!
Tess, sure hope you get a cat-nap in today.
Vicky, prayers continue for Tia and the baby.
Chickie, belated "Happy Anniversary". Hope your eye exam goes well. I need to get one done, but just keep putting it off. I hate getting my pupils dilated!
Jana, you always have so much going on! LOL Makes my head spin.
Maryq, I vote for staying in and sewing. Those shrubs, etc...will be covered in snow soon and no one will see them anyway! LOL Hope your work-day speeds by.
Tina, so sorry to hear this about your aunt. Will keep her, and your grandmother, in my prayers. Is your daughter feeling better after her migraine?
Carole, I hope they figure out something for your RA meds. What a shame that it isn't covered by Medicare any longer.
Welcome to Jean. Hope to see you around often. This is the best bunch a friends a gal could hope to have...even if they are invisible! LOL
Here I am at work, again. Still thankful to have a job, but still wishing to win the Lottery so I didn't have to work! LOL Not much going on...just finishing up last minute paperwork, spending, etc. for the end of the fiscal year. I'll be glad when next week gets here! Happy New Year! LOL
Sorry if I missed anyone. I do read and keep up with you all even if I don't get a chance to post. With the internet here at work, it is kind of a hit or miss thing.
Well, gotta run for now. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Hugs and prayers,
Mel

Chickie - great idea about holding the puppy while you were vacuuming. I always wash my quilts after I'm completely done with them and, so far, none of the lines have come back that I know of.
Karlene - IMHO everyone that likes to quilt should make the trip to Houston for the quilt show there. It is an experience you will never forget.....and that's just the shopping part. There's also all those quilts to look at if you get through shopping in time which we never do - LOL. We're terrible. I do run down there by myself sometimes and go through a few aisles quickly but that sure doesn't do those quilts justice.
Jana - you make my head spin with all you get done.
Maryq - you really should come to Houston for the show at least once in your life but, ya know girlfriend, you need to PLAN for it. You wouldn't be sorry I don't think.
Tina - my goodness. My BFF's husband was diagnosed with cancer and less than 7 weeks later he was gone. The family held out hope until the morning of the day he died. He passed that evening. Hang in there.

Re: Thursday September 26,2013
I so miss reading all your posts first of all. I try to scan them while at work but dont get all read.
Prayers go out to those in need with cancer and recent lossess of out lil fur babies. I tryly know how that feels and we do get so attached.
No news on funneral arrangements yet for DH grma. Not even sure if body has arrived from CA yet. He is checking with aunt today.
Life is crazy at my house this week. DFD had dr appt; DD and I have hair appt today; church and just farm stuff CRAZY. LOL I did watch EL pineapple webinar last night while fixing supper and feedind DD and DFD LOL what a hoot. I just love EL.
My sewing room is a disaster zone to say the least with my NH lap quilts; I have yet to work on my SBS this week. I am hoping to work on them tomorrow night. I dont want to be a week behind.
CO vacation coming soon. We leave on 4th for our drive. OAh I need it so bad. Work is driving me crazy. Parents send in some of the most crazy notes with some crazy complaints. You know I had a teacher once tell me "I wont believe everything your child tells me about you and home and You shouldn't believe everything they say about me and school" LOL so true lil fibbers they are. But thats another soap box of mine. Let the count down begin for retirement.
Well back to work I must go. This day is flying by and I have so much still to do:))
God Bless and happy thoughts
Izzy
Happy ANniversary Chickie and Bdays to those I missed.

Re: Thursday September 26,2013
Good morning from sunny, sunny, getting warmer, SW. Pa....An absolutely gorgeous day here in the east.....
We've been busy this morning...Jim had am 8:00 appointment with the VA doctor and then we stopped at 4 different stores trying to get a certain piece of carpet and came home empty handed....I threw some wash in the washer and should do some errands this afternoon but think I'll stay home...Jim will be off to help with the elderly bingo and I just happen to get my new quilting magazine in the mail, so I really should stay home and check out the goodies.....
My oh my, we're having a lot of health problems, aren't we...As Judi said, we are all aging and those nasty things do turn up....
Each of you will be in my prayers and special thoughts....So many names to add to the prayer list....
MaryZ Well aren't you a good furbaby momma....I would never had thought of doing that with the vacuum....I think every cat who's ever owned us has been afraid of the sweeper..AND not once had I ever caught anyone's tail! I can remember my Mom telling me, when I was a baby, she would turn on the sweeper, (yes we did have electric back then) put it in the other room and actually go gather the eggs...Maybe that's why I love to vacuum now!
Well, I'm gonna scoot....Need to check the clothes on the line then get a cup of tea and check out that new magazine............Sounds like a fun day to me.....
You all have a great day............

Tea Time....
I get a lot of mail from AARP.....do any of you belong?? Is it worth it? Thanks
Carole....sorry to hear about medicare & your infusion. I hope you can find a way around this. I'm tired of health ins & the gov. What is going to happen when the change up comes in healthcare. If you're for it or not I can't imagine the mess & confusion.
Jean....sorry I missed you yesterday. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!!
You will love it here. There is so much support, love, prayer & quilting knowledge here. Come & visit every day.
Jules....I'm praying today is the day you start feeling better. Happy dance for Charley & her move.
Tess...What a morning you've had. Please don't put you quilt away you might find a little time. If it's put away you won't do it.
Maryz....the hyperbaric chamber is a very large clear rectangle. Kim called when she was out & said it was not too bad. LOL...I never thought to take my machine out to sew. Although I remember the photos of you sewing out side. I'll be hand quilting out side in a rocker on the porch.
Judi....): sorry you couldn't get the Ellie Ann Charms. Good luck in your search. Wish I had some for you.
cindyg...Yes, I see Gray's is a 2hr show. I can't wait. It's so hard to remember how it ended last year.
Chickie....how the eye exam went well ...I need to have mine tested.
Karlene....I hope you Dad is doing OK. I must remember to be accurate & honest with my girls when I'm older.
Jana.....lots of traveling in your family. Happy snow!!!
Maryq....have a good work day....
Tina....I will remember you Aunt in my prayers...how difficult for her. Prayers for your Gramma too.
Mell.....it sure was cold for you ! The trees around the lake are turning orange.
Izzy....you so deserve a vacation.
Irish....enjoy you new magazines. I'll be looking out for mine.
Love & Prayers......Kathy
