Good morning, good morning,
My Dad is headed into surgery this morning to have his second shoulder replaced. He surprised my mom with the news that he was doing this and then they surprised the rest of us. I'm glad he is going ahead as he was hesitant on doing the first one, but had such good results with the surgery so I'm sure this one will bring him the same kind of relief. I still am concerned, but Mom will keep me updated all through the day. He is a stinker though - the last shoulder surgery, he waited till we had our tickets to go to Denver, and then he scheduled the surgery for 2 weeks before we came. This time he waited till we arrived in Denver and announced he had scheduled surgery for 2 weeks after we went back home! Stinker! He is so determined to 'not be a burden'!

Dorothy - I'm sorry on the loss of your furbaby. It is so hard to lose one.

Maryz - sorry your back is still giving you fits. At least Scottie brings a smile.

Suzette - cancer is a big thing to wrap your mind around. It sounds like you are doing amazingly well as you process all of this.

Kathy - glad you are getting your chair today and glad that the needed treatments for Kim are happening.

David let me know that the pears are ripe and the apples are almost there too so I need to get out there. It will be better to get them in the cooler temps as the bees are attracted to the fruit and with warmer temps there are more bees to contend with!

Have a great day everyone,
Karlene

Just had a call from my mom and they are taking Dad in to surgery now. One of the pastors from their new church came to the hospital this morning to be with them and pray for them before the surgery - what a blessing! That never happened at their old church. They did not want to find a new church as they approached the 80's, but this new church has been such a blessing to them. I'm so glad they did not just stay where they were, and I'm so glad that God has put them in a place where they can serve and be served during this time of their lives.

Thanks for all the nice words of encouragement. I certainly appreciate them. Betty Grace is a beautiful little baby!
Chriss - yes they caught the cancer real early.

Good morning! We had some more rain last night, and it’s sprinkling again. We rode around last evening so the dogs could have a run and to take Timi some apples and pears. The rain has already washed the dust and made the grass look green. The wildflowers are now golden yellow and some purple ones… the colors of fall.

Tracy—what a sweetie!!! Betty Grace is darling! My DD came in a very small package, too. She didn’t stay that way long! Enjoy!!!

Suzette—my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Vicky—maybe today… sounds like Tia is ready, and so are you!!!

MaryZ—I love hearing about Scottie! What a good baby he is!!!

Chriss—I’m going to start another apron today.

Kathy—30s!!! Oh, I’m so not ready for that!!! Good luck with the fridge!!! Enjoy your Lazy-GIRL!!! Love to quilt in one!

Dolores—great buttons!!! Perfect for your nautical theme!!!

I need to pay some bills and get to work in my sewing room… Have a great day, All!!! I’ll check back in on break.

Good Morning from Rutlader RV Park, in Louisburg, KS. We arrived here yesterday from Canada. Last few days of fishing were good and we have several fish (oops, Maryz, I mean mac n'cheese)in the freezer. We will visit DH's family for a few days, then head for Colorado.

Suzette, Lois, Maryz, prayers for you.

msdeets - neat buttons!! How'd ya make 'em?

I will try and upload a couple of photos, either here or over in Photos, of Estes Park.

We have a security guy that checks on our house and talked with him Sunday evening after cell phone service was restored to Estes. Our house is Ok. We live up the hill from Fish Creek/Fish Creek Rd about 200 yards. We can't get in that way, but can get in through other streets in the subdivision from the west. When we get to Colorado, we will park our RV outside of the RV garage we have near Loveland and live in it. We'll try to get up to see the house, get some stuff and get back out. I really need to see my parents and the grandkids some. Not sure how long we will be in Colorado this time.

Lyn

P.S. I got the photos loaded over in Photos.

Good morning!

I am supposed to be down here paying the bills and posting the checkbook in the computer - but what DH doesn't know .....

The phone did not ring about my LA yesterday - I will wait until later today to call them, if they haven't called me before that.

BIL in Oregon called last night - he will fly with FIL back here - Matt will fly out to California to gather up FIL's stuff and then drive back a U-haul with Daniel - it will all be before the end of this month - might even be this week-end - we will just have to see BIL's schedule. The place will provide a bed and chair for a short time, until Matt gets here with the furniture. They seem like a very nice place and helpful too.

So I had better get with my secretarial duties!

Hugs

Good afternoon from a very sunny, slightly cool, Fall like, SW. Pa....

Today is a catch up day...I goofed off all day yesterday so I really need to "hop to it" today....I'm actually going to cook and have apple squares baking......

Yesterday, my sister had a doctor's appointment and that always means a stop at a very, very large Chinese buffet..Of course I have to go along and make sure the doc is doing his job, right.....And then last night we had our big Lioness dinner and I ate again, big time.....Not good for the ever expanding hips.....
Last night was also a very bad night in the "Burgh"...All 3 of our teams played and all 3 lost...I don't think that's ever happened before.. I have faith, they will bounce back!

Jim is mowing the grass and I heard him tell a friend, "I hope this is the last time, this year"...I think he's in for lots more mowing...The grass is as green as it was in the spring, sure no signs of slowing down....

Vicky, all that canning, it's no wonder you have aches...You do need a day to do nothing....But, a new baby sure would help with those aches, wouldn't it?

And speaking of babies, Betty Grace is gorgeous...I haven't had a baby fix in such a long time....

karlene, will certainly be thinking of your Dad today...Doesn't he sound like most men? Thank you for your kind words...It is hard to lose one of the furbabies, really hurts....Have fun with those pears and don't let the bees get you.....

Suzette, I can imagine what is going on in your head, it's no wonder you can't sleep...Will certainly keep you in my prayers....Just last night I heard about a gal that is going through the same thing...She went into surgery not knowing and happily just needs the radiation for a precaution....Stay busy, think positive and know we're thinking about you.....

Maryz, when are we going to see more pictures of Scottie? You know we need our "fix"...Sounds like he is a fast learner and I think sleeping that long is a bonus....Hope you soon get some relief....

And there goes our Chriss...Always running hither and yon.....Hope your day is a good one.....

And on that note, I'd better get hopping.....Jim will be done and I have yet to get started....

You all have a great day...............

Taking a break from laying on the couch and reading . . though I started cross-stitching a second quilt label so I'm not being totally useless.

VICKY - any baby news?

CHRISS - yes, we're having a lot of fum with Scottie. He's sound asleep right now in the middle of the floor next to his toy. And he climbed the stairs this morning all by himself - twice!! We're so proud!

KATHY - 30's?? Weren't you all choking in heat just a few weeks ago?? Hope that chair is comfy for you! Will you be going back to your DD later?

JUDI - glad you are healing so quickly! Hope you get a little bit of quilty stuff done today. and I'm super happy that you only need to take a med 1x/wk.

CHICKIE - your wildflowers sound so pretty! Wish I could see them up close and personal. Most of our flowers are all gone now. The hard rain we had over the weekend did the last of them in. Glad you enjoy my Scottie stories. Because there will probably be a lot of them! You know how we new parents can be!

LYN - I saw your photos! I was on those roads not so long ago! Hard to imagine from here. I hope your family/friends/ and all their homes are OK. and great news that you're all stocked up on 'mac & cheese'! ;o)

TRACY - what a sweet baby! This is weird - I was just thinking yesterday that we just don't see babies named Betty anymore. and along comes your Beautiful Betty Grace! congratulations!!

KARLENE - wishing your dad the best as he goes through surgery again. He tricked you, did't he! Too bad he doesn't realize that while he may think HE doesn't need you, your mom probably does.

JANA - I hope your FIL's move goes off without a hitch. And where is that LA??? How long do they expect us to wait?? When we got ours it was a show model from a big quilt show. So we got it at the end of the show, but we had to wait 6 weeks for our frame to come. A very long 6 weeks!!

Not much cooking here. I have massage this afternoon and again on Fri. If my back/hip/knee aren't better by the end of the weekend, I'm moving on to P.T. I'm so thankful that this didn't hit me while in the middle of a big gotta-git-'er-dun-now project!

Happy Afternoon, All!

HI Everyone,

Betty Grace is beautiful. Looks so relaxed and contented, happy in her little world. She appears to be a very good baby. Congrats and God bless her and all the family, you too.

Lyn, I smiled when I saw where you were staying. We worked at that rv park...... Rudlader's in Louisburg, Ks.....one summer a few yrs ago. Beautiful area, friendly folks, and country western shows are so much fun. There used to be a little quilt shop in town but not sure it is there any more. It was in an old house. Very quaint friendly store.
There is fish in that little pond too. And across the road is a protected wildlife area just full of butterflies, birds, and critters in unmowed grass and wildflowers. Brings back great memories. Glad you house is ok. Hope you can get to it soon to get your stuff. May God watch over you and all affected by the flooding.

Suz, Lois, Judi, Vicky, and Judi, and others in need........ prayers continue for all of you. May you all soon be on the road to healing, the tests and procedures behind you. May God bless you and surround you with the support of many angels as you go thru all this. You are not alone. Huge gentle hugs for all of you and anyone else hurting on this forum. I pray for all of you everyday.

I went shopping with a neighbor yesterday and we made the rounds of Michael's, JoAnn's, and Hobby Lobby. I just got some pcs of fabric for a fun project with my neighbor. WE are going to make a bunch of little felt coasters. They are fun, fast, and so easy.

When we were at JoAnn's, the clerk talked my neighbor into buying a new little machine. She doesn't even know much about sewing. Just does mending and hemming mostly. She had cut out some shorts but then couldn't get them sewed together right so they are now at my house. Oh joy!!!!!LOL

They are not cut right, the fabric is supposed to be stretchy and some of it doesn't give much so don't think they are even going to fit. Some sewing shop made the pattern, told her to cut all four at the same time with scissors, and quickly demoed how to put it all together. Of course the edges are raggedy and crooked. This is stretchy fabric, doesn't cut well to begin with, what a mess. I have most of one pair done but I am a bit grayer today. LOL I haven't made clothes for many yrs.

I do enjoy doing things with her tho. Had lunch out again yesterday while shopping. Rod was at work. I am hoping with the new machine maybe I can teach her to quilt. She is terrified of sewing anything. Bad experience in Home EC and flunked it. But she does have that new machine. Her old machine gears went out and costlier to fix than buy new one. She did get a nice little Singer for $130 that does all the basics she will need.

I need to get back to sewing or packing or something. Rod wants to go to IKEA tomorrow so won't get much done that day either. He went when company was here in July and discovered they have food there. I like to just go and wander around and have anything with lingonberries.
Still don't know when we are moving. Waiting to hear from Landlord and he is out of town.

May God bless you all today, sorry I can't reply to everyone but have a great day and do something quilty. And remember all the families and loved ones of those injured or killed in that massive shooting at Washington DC Navy Yard. Still having nightmares over that mess. With family in military, I worry about all their safety these days. Keep them all in your prayers. Love and hugs across the miles. Shirley Mae

Edited for misspelling. I can't even spell that. Computer corrected misspelling. LOL

Good afternoon all! Can't figure out what was wrong. I wrote a previous note, but it would not post it here. It just kept acting like it was but nothing happened so I will try again. This will be quick because I don't have time to do it all over.

Suzette - Glad you and your doctor have a good plan for your breast cancer treatment. My husband had his Breast cancer surgery 6 years ago and he is doing well. You are in my prayers.

Judi - Take it easy and don't over do anything. I am sure your Dr. appt. results will come out good. Prayers for you too.

Jules - I understand your asthma problems. I was diagnosed with it last year. I would be lost without my inhaler.

Prayers for all of you and anyone else who needs them. I am so far behind on reading the posts. For some reason last week I didn't do much of anything except some cross-stitching. I didn't do any quilting so I hope to change that this week. I have to finish all my project and fabric sorting first. I really wonder why I bought some of these pieces of fabric. It is a sickness with me. I will find some homes for the weird ones.

Well, have a good day everyone.

Sherry
