Re: Thursday August 8,2013
Good morning!
Lois - I'll be joining you in the housecleaning - eugh. Who is your helper?!
Mary/Rose - is your grindstone at home or at work? Hope the tea helped shake up the routine.
Suzette - fingers are crossed for your quilt. Have fun quilting while it's storming.
Velda - hope you had fun yesterday!
Vicky - so sorry you had trouble sleeping. How nice of Shannon to take Emily out to lunch. It sounds like Tia is feeling better -I forgot - when is she due?
Izzy - at least the first day is under your belt! Hope today is as smooth. Have fun at the cook out.
Judy - good gravy Marie. I'll be praying for your bones and all. As for the weight loss - my DH has lost 40 pounds and the doctor still has said nothing. I think it's their new strategy or something. Have fun at the guild meeting.
ScrappyPat - well dang. Have a great day.
Chriss - prayers lifted up for your aunt and for y'all. Could they make it any more difficult??? We had a run-in with child protective services (it's a looong story) several years ago. We came to the ugly conclusion that we had to play their game. I hope it's not like that out there, because it really blew chunks. I'll be so glad when all of this crap is behind you. Hugs, my friend.
Traci - good grief you have been through the wringer. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom -that seems so young. I'm glad both you and your daughter are out of the hospital. Take care of yourself and thanks for updating us.
I didn't sleep well last night either. DH's older daughter wants to stay here while DGS is in a tennis tournament (a last minute thing). DH's relationship with this daughter is strained (it's another long, LONG story). We had plans to spend two nights up in Estes Park to celebrate surviving the month of company. Now it's just one night as I have to clean the entire house AGAIN (I hate cleaning the way some of you hate cooking) and get a meal ready for them (she doesn't cook). I'm also still planning on getting green beans from the farmer's market and canning on Saturday. Blah! Sorry to whine about piddling problems - in the overall scheme of things, this is a nit. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

Lois - I'm sorry it is a work day for us. I wish we'd have played that power ball lottery thing yesterday. I just know we would have won and I could quit work. ***sigh***
MaryRosebud - I hope you get a pleasant surprise today, too.
Suz - you and Maryz - I'm wishing you and your quilts luck at the fairs. I noticed that the storms are going across the country from left to right and they are all north of Texas. Darn!
Velda - how was the fishin' yesterday?
Vicky - I'm glad yesterday was a good day for you all. I think we need pix of Jovanna again.
Izzy - I dread the start of school. It means 9 months of heavy traffic on my way to work. My sister retired from teaching last May so I'm sure she is enjoying her August as she use to have to go to meetings and get her classroom ready.
Judi - gosh, that's as bad as being a diabetic having to have injections everyday. I've never had a bone density test because my OB/Gyn gave me prescription calcium and he said that if I had the test and it showed osteoporosis that he wouldn't treat me any different than he is already with the calcium. So.... I don't know if I have it and that's probably a good thing.
Pat - bless your heart. Maybe you just need to get use to that keyboard.
Chriss - oh, dear, I thought your adoption thingy was near the end. Why don't they pick on someone who doesn't deserve to have a child?
Last night I did dinner, washed a load, then worked on 4 log cabins so I could get them into a block so that I can prepare the applique and have it ready to go to the lake this weekend. I thought about taking my Christmas panel but changed my mind. After work today I will go get my hairs cut, go to the store for camping food, go home and fix dinner, get clothes out of the dryer, pack food and clothes and sewing, get rid of unwanted facial hair, then crash. I fell asleep last night but woke up 30 minutes later and was wide awake. It was like I took a power nap. I was still awake at 3:00 AM. Grrrrr. That makes for a long day - and I have lots to do today, too. Oh, well.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Traci - my sincerest condolences on the passing of your mom. She was so young. Your DD was in the hospital for what? And I'm glad you are feeling better. Scheesh, you have really had your share of troubles.
Sharona - so do you get to go to Estes Park or not? Strained relationships sure make for an uncomfortable time so I wish you luck. I LOL when you referred to those of us that hate to cook. I think I'm the only one on here that detests it. I think doctors don't mention weight loss anymore because they think we never should have gained the weight to begin with so why should they praise us for losing it.
Gotta get busy.

Re: Thursday August 8,2013
Good Morning!
I've had computer problems off and on all day yesterday (can you spell "D-H"?) and again this morning. But I'm here now! For a few min. I meet my neighbor, Lori, for our walk at 7am.
LOIS - who's helping you with your uglies today? All I have is a big shedding cat!
MARY R - I got your PM and will send an answer when I can!
SUZ - wishing you a rain of ribbons!!
VELDA- good morning! have a nice day!
VICKY - I love T&L storms, but we seldom get them here.
IZZY - happy school!!
JUDI - so sorry to hear of that dx! I think Ca++ needs to be taken with Vit D to metabolize it. Also, I think it's supposed to be taken at a different time than your regular vitamins as they interfere with each other, but I could be wrong about that. Shots every day for 2 yrs! Yikes!!
PAT - sorry you're not liking the laptop. It took a little while to get used to mine but now I really like it. I can sit on my couch, feet propped on a stool, and type away. I'm no longer chained to the desk and hard chair.
CHRISS - It must feel more like harrassment than anything! Will say some prayers for all your needs, girlfriend!
TRACI - I was thinking about you just yesterday and wondering how life was going. Not so well! So sorry to hear of your mom, and your health problems. I'll add you to my prayer list.
CINDY - Your eveings are as busy as your daytimes! I don't know who you get any sewing done at all!
SHARONA - more company?! Guess you can't just say 'no', can you. But she should be treating you to a restaaurant dinner, especially since you are giving up your plans to accomodate her self-invitation.
I finished my last Christmas quilt top yesterday! Whoo Hoo!! Now it's in Bill's quilting court. I also got the binding done on the wedding quilt I had to make all of a sudden. I'm back to doing my own thing for just myself!
got to go! Timer is dinging at me.
hugs and prayers. Looks like we need a lot of them today!

Re: Thursday August 8,2013
Good morning.
Mary/rose I hope I have a pleasant surprise in my day.
Suzette, good luck at the fair. I hope you get a ribbon.
Izzy, yes sitting on the porch having coffee is wonderful.
Judi, that's terrible. Hopefully they can reverse it. I agree with you about always finding new things in quilting.
Chriss the adoption process seems maddening.
Traci, my goodness, how much can a person take. So sorry to hear of your mother passing.
Sharona, I don't spend near as much time cleaning as I used to. There's just too many other things I need to do.
Cindy, you are one busy woman. I'm tired just reading everything you need to get done.
As for me, I'm working my new shift on days. So far so go. It's a little odd being awake during the day, but I'll get used to soon enough. Don't know what the day will bring, but I'm sure it will be good.
Have a great day everyone.
Lori

Re: Thursday August 8,2013
Good morning!
I guess that Thursdays are cleaning days - I too will have a helper - and a undoer! Stu and Ethan are coming over today -
I got all the sewing done yesterday that was waiting on me - got my blocks to Vinae mailed off and mopped the north wing of the basement and even got the second coat of paint the walls. That is the final coat of my yellow.
Michael was down here too - putting things of his in organizing piles to be put away. We are starting to get a handle on all the boxes that still need to be unpacked from the move. This week-end all the books will be hauled upstairs to the new bookcase and unpacked! That will empty a lot of space from the storage room down here, so I can get that into shape as well.
It was nice yesterday - for the first time since we moved here, what we moved here for happened! Both of us we in the hobby areas doing our things! I guess that we are the turtles in this world - slow and steady! LOL
I am starting a Christmas wall hanging today - it is a kit with a center panel of a Christmas tree - star blocks are the borders - I bought one for Sarah too. She has hers cut out - but it wasn't a kit and we need more fabric to cut a couple of blocks. When the quilt is totally done - there are spaces that you put in small buttonholes for small lights to come through - it lights up the tree - battery operated.
Oh yes, the curtain fabric came too and the last one is finished - Stu will hang the rods for me this morning so we can get them hung.
I guess that today will be busy!
Chriss - what a pain the State of California can be!I hope that you get everything settled shortly - maybe a well written letter from an attorney would help.
Need to scoot - Stu and Ethan will be here shortly and DH is awaiting food - he has meds to take, then I have to wait an hour before I can feed him.
Hugs and prayers!
Jana

Maryq - we only got about .5" of rain, but it was better than nothing. Hopefully today we'll get a little more, but I'm not holding my breath. Hope your BFF's place didn't suffer any damage.
Cindyg - that's a big NOT. Since we couldn't stay the required two nights, we had to cancel those reservations. We might go to Cheyenne, WY for the night. I'd trade you: I'd do all your cooking if you would clean for me.
Lori - welcome to the day!
Maryz - happy walking to you, and congrats on finishing another quilt.
I must get back to cleaning out the ice box. xoxo!

Re: Thursday August 8,2013
Good morning from the soggy prairie! We had almost another ½” last night, and nothing but rain and thunderstorms in the foreseeable forecast.
Mary-Rosebud--I’ll be at my home grindstone, and I may have to go in and shampoo carpets for DH at the rental. We need to get it rented. In between showers, the four yards in town need to be mowed…
Suzette—best wishes to you in the show!!!
Velda—how was fishing? We need to go again in one of the ponds. I’m afraid that we do catch and eat after enjoying the fight of the bass. We release small ones and super large ones. Before we can go, we need to catch a boat. One is still close to shore and won’t be difficult (just getting the water dumped out). The other may be sunk.
Vidky—so nice you had a good day yesterday! I slept through the storms last night. I saw the lightning flicker and went in an unplugged the computer, then back to Slumberland. Have I mentioned that your trees are so beautiful!!!
Izzy—Have a good day today!!! We miss you porch sitting with us!
Judi—I’m glad you had a bone density test before you broke any bones! How are we supposed to be taking our calcium supplements? My bone density is just above the line, so I have to watch, too. If you are old, I am OLDER!!! I’m still trying to wrap my head around paper piecing—glad to hear someone else is as dyslexic as I am. I love the look but hate peeling off the paper… Have fun at the picnic!
Scrappy Pat—I love my laptop, but I have an external mouse. It’s MUCH easier than using the scroll and tabs for the left and right click. You might want to plug in your old mouse and see if it works. I use the scroll pad when I am sitting somewhere other than the desk. Did you get more rain?
Chriss—I am so sorry you are going through all the CA B.S. to get the adoption through. That’s just so crazy and frustrating. Why they imagine visitation would be a good thing is beyond me. THAT was the whole reason why you are adopting!!! Geez!!! HUGS!!!
Traci—I am so sorry for your loss!!! Your mom was way too young to die. My sincere condolences to you and your family. How is your DD doing with her pregnancy? You have really been through the wringer! It’s no wonder you ended up in the hospital—please take care of yourself so you can enjoy that new grandbaby!!! Do you know if it will be a boy or girl?
Sharona—I sure feel sorry for you with your company and having to be a reluctant hostess. I’m with you on the cleaning—hate it!!! I’ll never win the Suzy Homemaker award for clean house! Cooking is a chore, too, on a daily basis. I’d rather be sewing!!! Rats—so sorry you had to cancel Estes Park!!! Hope you get a mini refresher vacation!!!
Cindy—I forgot my ticket, too… Sorry about your loss of sleep. I hate that when I do it, too. I find cooking a chore for just the two of us. I don’t mind cooking for a crowd once in awhile. It’s the daily grind that is the pits. Just like dusting or these floors—it’s never finished for more than five minutes…
Lois—lucky you, a cleaning helper!!! Have a super day!!!
Jana—I think I saw that Christmas panel. It will be pretty with the lights! Have fun today!!!
Lori—good to hear from you!!! I’m sure it’s crazy for a few days getting used to a new shift time! Have a super day!!!
MaryZ—be careful on your walk!!! Do you know that bears have an affinity for little red-haired people… I’m not sure I would be taking that route any more!!! You have been sewing like a mad woman—I wish I were half as productive as you are!!!
I’m going to cut up a cantaloupe or two for breakfast. All those vines are now starting to produce, and we are eating them at every meal! Wish you were here!!!
Everyone have a super day, and let the thread times roll!

Re: Thursday August 8,2013
Good morning all,
Just a quick hello, as usual. Today is my Friday. We will be leaving in the morning for Oregon. Going to stay a couple of nights and come back late Sunday. I will pick up DGS after work today. I haven't seen my little guy for two weeks! I miss him. He is so excited to go the beach. He loves to take little trips. Plus, the all-time big thrill (for him) of staying in a motel! Don't why that facinates him so much. He gets an even bigger thrill if there is a refrigerator in the room! LOL
I finally finished up my cabin swap blocks last night. Still need to label them and package them...hope to accomplish that tonight. If not, it will keep until Monday. I think I am "swapped" out for now! LOL
Hope you all are having a wonderful day. Gotta run for now, but I will check back later.
Hugs,
Mel
