Good morning!

Suzette - glad to hear your DSIL is out of the hospital. Happy fabric cutting.

Lois - have fun at the gym. Sure hope you have some time left over to go to your sewing hole.

Mary/Rose - what a wonderful quilt to be making for your pastor's daughter! I love how it's coming out. Thanks for bumping it back to the top. I am so impressed that you're doing a DWR.

Vicky - poor Caleb! So glad he found his car and no one was hurt. I've also lost my car at the mall - I'm so glad I hadn't called the police yet. I know Ross was blessed by having you there. The quilt you posted is beautiful! Yay for more trunks getting added today.

Izzy - tomorrow is the day! Happy baking today.

Chriss - when do the adoption people show up? Today is DS1's bd - I cannot believe he is 38. He was feeling a wee bit better yesterday, thanks for asking.

Sue - lovely to see you!

Maryz - sure hope you get the Siamese - my favorite breed of cat. They have strong personalities....

Judi - we're getting rain tomorrow - I'm glad you had such wonderful sleeping weather. The water project sounds interesting. How sweet of you and Ken to care about the kitties. DS2 lives behind a vet clinic - they have a huge feral cat problem. He does trap them and take them to a shelter -they already have four cats themselves! I cannot fathom how someone could come out to where you live and dump an animal.

Yesterday I was trying to find the CD for my EQ7 so I could install it on the new laptop. Searched for an hour; finally just ordered a new CD. So of course, I go upstairs and look in the bookcase (that I had checked at least three times), and there it was. DS1 went to the doctor - he thinks it's probably a viral thing but wants him to come back if he's not better by Thursday. He said something about checking his testosterone level? Weird. Ok - better get busy as my day is full with Costco/cleaning/Christmas swap blocks. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

Good Morning.....

An other cool night & they promise an other nice day....

There is an update on my DD. She does not have heparin nacrosis. What she has is too much calcium and it's causing blood vesels to close...thus skin to die. They have changed her diet & cut back her fulids intake(a big problem for her). There is an IV treatment to start today. Surgery is still in the picture. Now I'm about to say 'Hasn't she been through enought?!" There is a baseball size mass on her pancreas that will be biopsied when she is better.
I'm atarting laundry & making plans to go there. My back is already saying 'no more cot!!' This looks like an other long stay. Good thing I no longer work. They wouldn't be happy with me taking off months off.

Thank you for you prayers & thoughts.

Love & Prayers....Kathy

Kathy - Kim really is going through the wringer, poor woman. Is there anyway an air mattress would fit on the cot and give you a little more support? I'm glad to hear they are figuring out what is going on so they can treat Kim.

Vicky - I've had that happen with my truck here at the office. When I look out the window, I should see the side of my truck, but one day I saw the headlights looking back at me! Gave me quite a fright and I was so lucky that it did not hit any other vehicles or buildings or people!

Yesterday I went home and Elizabeth had the day off after working 7 days, so we talked, laughed, ate chocolate and watched a movie. I did get the sheets and towels from the company washed and dried too. By the time David came home I felt like a regenerated woman! He just looked at me weird!

My niece and nephew would both like a flannel blanket. I made them baby blankets but those are long gone due to the way the family lives. So I'm going to make something simple in the colors that they like, but without too much time invested in the blankets because history shows they will probably just have a short life-span in that house.

Have a great day everyone,
Karlene

Suz - being off on Thursday is important. Gotta get that quilt turned in. Glad your SIL is out. Did you mean she is tired or her DD?

Lois - ewwwww I'd rather be at work then to do floors - LOL.

Rosebud - the less seams on the backing, the better. Much easier on the quilter or the quilting machine. I would suggest using the biggest piece of fabric you have and then adding blocks around it to make up the difference.

Vicky - that's funny about your son's car. My car rolled away from me once at the gas station. I had to chase after it, get the door open and jump in and slam on the brake. One more foot and it would have hit another car. :( I'm so proud of you for staying the whole 1.5 hours to listen to your son play. Remember what they use to say? "If it's too loud, you're too old"...so I listen to loud music - LOL LOL That quilt is gorgeous!

Izzy - have a great date day. Yum bread and muffins sound delish. I bought everything to make bread months ago and haven't done it yet. The recipe is one I got from someone on this forum and you bake it in a dutch oven. I'm not sure I can even find the recipe but I need to try. DH keeps asking when we're having homemade bread. This will be a big step for me. You have been here long enough to know this but I detest cooking. If it takes more than 30 minutes to fix, it ain't happenin' at my house.

Chriss- I'll drag Vicki out another day. Last weekend she had her 13 yr. old granddaughter with her and I won't take kids to a quilt shop. They are bored and start whining etc. I'd have to make her go sit in the car and with the heat the way it is I'd be arrested for child endangerment. I never whined in the fabric store and loved going with my mom but then I loved to sew and embroider, etc.

Sue - gosh, you must be busy the way you ran thru here! LOL

Judi - have you heard from Joanne? I miss her and hope nothing is terribly wrong. Glad you got rain and some cool. I wish we would. Yesterday someone told me that our lake is about 4 ft. low. DARN!! Does feral mean it's an outside cat? Do they keep snakes away, too?

Sharona - oh, yes, Murphy's Law. You find what you're looking for right after you have ordered another one. I saw a brass stiletto while shopping on Saturday and was so tempted to buy it because I lost mine. I managed to keep myself from getting it because one day my old one will show up.

Maryz - are you thinking of getting another cat?? :( Ha-choooo. LOL Any news about a Sheltie?

After work yesterday I went to the grocery store then went home and fixed dinner, got a load out of the dryer and washed the charity quilt I have to take to guild tonight. Was just sitting down to sew then DH wanted my help taking pix of one of our Singer 221 Featherweights so he could put it on eBay. By then it was time for bed. Tonight I'll rush home from work, fix dinner and rush off to guild. I can't remember who our speaker is.

I hope we all get to fondle fabric today.

Kathy - prayers immediately sent up for your DD. She's really been thru it. When you go back you might get one of those blow up mattresses. I sleep on one at Vicki's house and it's quite comfortable. You'd only need a twin size and I don't think they are terribly expensive. It would be a whole lot better than a cot.

Karlene - I understand about your niece and nephew and you not wanting to put a lot of money and time into a quilt for them. My oldest DD doesn't take care of things either so the baby quilts that I made for those two grandsons are long gone and the one I made for her got bleached. I could have slapped her silly - it was a king size Cathedral Windows.

I'm in a rush today. I slept an extra hour. Yay, me! We found the owner of the cat that was trying to adopt us. Boo hoo. I took it to the vet down the road and they scanned a microchip in him. Turns out the owner was another vet who lived down the road the other direction. But he and Riley did Not get along, so for now, it's for the best. And we've signed on with several rescue sheltie groups, so hoping a dog will come our way soon. My sis got her rescue sheltie a month ago. And our good friends have 2 rescue shelties. So it will happen. . .

Yesterday on our walk, my friend and I saw serious signs of a bear in the neighborhood. We walk through nearby woods on a trail. We passed a HUGE do-do pile that excited her dog, then a ripped apart rotten log, a disturbed ant hill, trashed berry vines, and clawed areas on the path. And about 300' further on we came a cross a big deer! It was a fun walk! Oh! and 2 bunnies!

DH finished quilting the wedding quilt I had to make last week for the wedding coming up in a few weeks. (the one where I feel the marriage won't last the winter.) so today, I'll be sewing on the binding and then sewing together my redworked Santa blocks.

I do have a warning if you like to hand embroider with Pearl cotton that comes in balls. The red WILL run and it's the devil to get out! I rinsed over and over and over in cold water. I used up 4 Color Catchers. And I still had a little running. But after working on them for 5 months I am Not redoing them! I just hope when this quilt is finished it won't be so obvious.

Have a great day! Got to go!

hugs to all,
maryz

Hello, from Lake Shelbyville.
I have not read all the posts. I
will do that after fishing.
It is a foggy hazy day and fishing
has been good so far. Got an early start
I think it was about 6am.

Anyway we are near the marina, so I have WI FI.
Decided to pop on and say good morning.

Going back to fishing. 😊

It was an even darker and stormier night in Kansas… The thunderstorms rolled through around midnight and stayed and stayed… This time there was quite a bit of wind and the lightning was cracking as it flashed. Hopefully there was no damage from it. Our power was out for several hours. There were limbs down in the yard from the wind, and many of my flowers were laying on their sides. I couldn’t believe I only dumped 1.5” from the rain gauge. That’s a GOOD thing, as we dumped 2.5” yesterday! The ponds are all full and running over, and the pastures are lush—a far cry from this time last year! No complaints, but we really have had enough rain for right now. More in the forecast for later tonight again…

In the same vein as the “runaway cars”, both of the boats on the ponds didn’t get pulled all the way up the banks and are now full of water and floating towards the overflows… One is a result of the DGKs using it, and the other is the one DH had out day before yesterday… I hope they don’t sink where the water is deep…

I accidentally slept in this morning since I didn’t get my usual sleep last night. Poor Tinker Bell was so restless; she does not like the storms!

No sewing yesterday. DH was going in to work at a rental and do some errands, so I had him drop me at Mom’s. I took her my two new quilt magazines, two dinners of fish and corn on the cob, some of my zucchini crisp, and a fresh, cut-up cantaloupe from our garden. I made her some lunch, and we sat and visited until DH returned to fetch me. We got a big laugh as he pulled up in “the Beater” (his ’86 Nissan pick-up that has seen MUCH better days)—it was LOADED with filthy, old, ratty furniture (several overstuffed sofas and chairs were strapped on the bed of the truck—piled high and deep) and trash… a cross between “Sanford and Son” meets “Beverly Hillbillies”. When we arrived back home, it all went on the burn pile and is now ashes with a little wires waiting for a magnet to pick up the remains. He said when he was loading it, a mouse ran into one of the sofas. It’s either a country mouse or baked mouse.

All this rain is not cooling things down. It’s like a sauna in the afternoon. Yesterday was 89 but “felt like” 102! When you went outside, you were instantly soaked with humidity and your own sweat. The air is so thick, it’s hard to breathe.

Cindy—you take the wrong kids to the quilt shop! All the ones I’ve taken have picked out projects for me to make for them—even when it wasn’t the intended goal!!! One of my LQSs had two kitties, so DGS was happy there with them when he wasn’t finding projects, and at the other one, there were a couple of little Yorkies. He still has the quilts and blankets I made from the fabrics he found when he was just a little guy—3 or 4 years old! He was never ready to leave the quilt shops!!!

Karlene—I’m with you… I consider where a quilt is going before I start making it. Sounds like a fun day with Elizabeth!

Kathy—I agree with you! Poor Kim has definitely been through enough!!!

Vicky—we get into “those” things because we just have a hard time saying “no”. Your brother-in-law’s quilt is beautiful! I know the Harley quilt will be just as cool!!! I’m sure you felt like the concert was an endurance contest! You deserve a prize for sticking through it!

MaryZ—sorry the beauty kitty won’t be staying with you! I’m sure the owner was grateful it didn’t end up as bear dinner!!! Maybe he will be on the lookout for a sheltie for you!!!

Scrappy Pat—hope you are ok and not washed away!!!

Since I got up late, I need to get busy… Laundry needs to be started. I’d like to sew…

Have a great day, and let the thread times roll!

Good morning!

I know where the storm damage is - right here - just up the road from me was a micro-burst - sudden very strong winds - straight down from a thunder storm - took out 37 power poles and a couple of street lights! My lights flickered a couple of times, but we never lost power - good thing was that as I heard the storm coming in - I shut down the computer and sewing machine - a "just in case" - well it was!

Stu called just after all that and wanted to come out to Grandma's - so I got the boys and then put us to work - we cleaned out the garbage/trash from the garage - it was getting deep in there as just my car would fit - now we could get both back in - but there is sorting to do of Michael's tools and stuff - so his truck will wait.

Today is Logan's speech appointment - moved from yesterday - so I will go and play with the little ones over there - Sarah is off today as it is walk-thru for Stu at the high school - I think that she and Ethan will be out later to sew.

So that is my life for today - more strong storms are due in this afternoon - we are close enough to the mountains that they roll ovr that the brunt of the storms miss us - we get the rain and some wind, but not the real bad ones.

Have a great day!
Hugs
Jana
