Lois - the kids seem to be having fun. I remember the summer days when we would turn on the sprinkler and run thru it and wait for the ice cream man to come down the street. We could hear him a block over and would run into the house for money then go stand at the curb waiting.

MaryRosebud - oh, dear, a second job. I can hardly handle my main job. I'm getting tired. When will you have time to sew?

Vicky - so sorry you won't be able to do you GFG. Can you do it if you just work on it for a limited time each day - like 1/2 hour? Sorry about little Jovanna's teeth.

Suz - gosh, it sounds like you have a full day before you can even get going on that boat shade.

Grammie - good for you getting your mamms grammed. A salad for dinner sounds wonderful. I just wish my DH would eat salad at home. He'll eat salad at a restaurant but won't eat it at home. Go figure.

Izzy - what are straw needles? Your grilled veggies sound so good. When we grill zuc I baste them with melted butter or olive oil and sprinkle a little Tony Chacierre's (sp) on them. Yummy. Hooray for the welder lady.

Chriss - I sure envy you the vacation. I wish I could take off more than a couple of days at a time. LOL at you being tired from packing and unpacking Jana.

Gabriele - every day is a day I don't want to get up. That stinkin' alarm clock always goes off before I'm ready to rise and shine. It's been overcast here all week and it rains a few minutes a couple of times a day. It looks so dreary out but at least the temps are staying down (under 95*).

Same old same old here. I'm at work. Will go home and do laundry, fix dinner and then I hope to get in my sewing hole.

May we all get to fondle fabric today.

Good Morning!

CHICKIE - you are productive! you just get other things done besides quilting! Bet your mom loved those flowers. My glads got stomped down this year by my Bill-in-a-china-shop while he was working on the deck. So please allow me to close my eyes and visualize yours! I believe saskatoons are a berry that look much like blueberries. They grow in more northern climes. I've seen them while traveling, but never picked or eaten them.

CAROLE - sorry about your hip. I wonder if you stretch it (lay on floor and pull affected knee to opposite shoulder and hold for few seconds. Repeat.) would help. I've never been to Gettysburg (it's on our list, though), but we did go to Vicksburg 11 yrs ago and took the auto tour. And Andersonville. So moving. .

JANA - to your fabric, etc, I say, "Welcome Home!" Seems like you were just packing it all up! But I guess it really has been two years!

LOIS - when I was a kid, any day that had swimming in it was an awesome day! Add ice cream, especially root beer floats!, and I was over the moon! Lucky grands!

MARY ROSE - how many hours/week are you already putting in at your first job? I hate the thought of a second job for you. There's quilting to be done!

VICKY - you are talking hexies, right? And it's the tiny, tight stitching that is hurting your wrists? What about a wrist brace? Could you just abut them against each other and then use a decorative stitch? and I saw a method once where they made the 'flowers' and then the 'flowers' were appliqued in place. Sorry Jovanna isn't feeling well. We eat a lot of chef's salads in hot weather, adding any bean, meat, boiled egg, cheese.

SUZ - that quilt show sounds like it will be very special. I'll be looking forward to your 'report'!

JUDI - happy mammo!

IZZY - that's a lot of beans! Love the kitten story! I like grilled veggies, but my DH just doesn't think veggies belong on a grill, so I don't get them too often.

CHRISS - Richard is working in the summer? Is he teaching summer classes? Though a paycheck through the summer is a good thing! Yes, we remembered the movie!

GABRIELLE - your kids are really spread out! I was feeling bad because one of mine lives in Texas. Your things in the photo section are really beautiful.

KATHY - congrats on finishing your quilt! How big is it? Enjoy your day, whatever you decide to do. Is your DD adjusting to your not being there?

CINDY - yoo hoo!! Where are you, dearie??

We went to the movies yesterday and saw "Heat" last night. I love Sandra Bullock and she and Melissa McCarthy played well off of each other. It was an enjoyable story, but spoiler alert - the language was salty. I finished binding a quilt last night and hope to get most of my Halloween projects sandwiched and quilted today. Then, back to my DD's Christmas quilt. I need to lay out the blocks I have done and see where I go from here with that project.

be cool!

MaryZ--thanks for the saskatoon info. I figured they were berries or plum-like. Mom LOVED the flowers!!! She has really enjoyed my offerings this year. She loves cut flowers since she isn't able to garden any more. I usually bring her a purchased bouquet if I go to the store before going to her house. It's been fun this summer taking in my flowers!

I'm out watering now. No rain last evening although we had black clouds and thunder... just no rain came out of it all. I'll come in and shower then fix brunch, so will try to be back later... I came in for a to-go-back-outside-cup-of-coffee... Got it, so... later!

Good Morning,

Just a quick note then need to get ready to go do some shopping.....can't sew so decided I 'd go with DH (he is driving) about 40 miles to this neat little town that has only about 3 maybe 4 stores in it....Well the fabric store has been sold by this little old lady like in her 90's so she is having a big sale, now her place is so quaint, wooden well worn floors, its so neat....she would buy up these old buildings that connected to her shop then open an door, that place would hold some different, like one room for all types of kitchen fabric, another for children, another for more recent stuff, another just for patterns and gadgets...you can get overloaded real quick. So I am off to see what I can goodies I can find.

Have a great day today everyone!

Ok did I miss what saskatons where? please tell me again LOL
I tried to search posts but I am so blonde and all I can see is greeen beans today LOL

Straw needles are really nice thin and flexible needles very sharp. And if you have young eyes they are great. I bought them from vender last year at paducah. I love the 11 lg eye needles I bought from him but I am telling you I cant see the eye to thread the straw needles. I really think the thread is bigger than eye LOL I even put on cheater glasses with no luck ;)

well back to the beans I think they are multiplying

Good Morning Girls!

Happy Wednesday! Working late shift today, so am home to just putter around a bit, maybe tackle a small ugly before I have to shower and get ready for work. Worked an 11 hour day yesterday so there went my plan to stop at Joann on the way home.

We were super busy yesterday and only a couple of us, my room mate and another gal voluntarily stayed late to get things caught up. Even a gal that works over-nights came in early to help out. The boss isn't too happy that some people leave when there is still so much to do! We supposedly not supposed to work over time, but when there's work to do....

Maryz... I love GLADS!!! When my Dad has his little farm he would plant about 400 bulbs every year! Once they bloomed he would bring buckets of them up to their church. Meant to plant some here this year, but never got around to it. In fact I didn't plant anything at all this year. My Day lilies are starting to bloom tho--and have completely taken over my one little garden. Would love to see the new Sandra Bullock movie too... she sometimes reminds me of my Jen!

Sharon.... welcome back! You had a good time in Ohio?

Vicky.... sorry to hear Miss Jovanna is feeling under the weather! How is Tia feeling? Does she have a baby bump? She's due in October right? Maybe it's time for another "Name the Baby" contest!

Judi...Even tho I'm not a vegetable lover... I do enjoy a big old Salad with lots of stuff on it.. I keep thinking it's a good low calorie meal, but probably not with the blue cheese dressing I cover it with! Hope all is well with your Mammo and bone test today. I've had my mammo for the year, but still need the bone test. Another thing to add to my "job jar"

Chriss.... The count down to vacation is on for you! You taking a whole week off? Just think of all the sewing you'll get done. My next vacation will be a painting vacation... yuk.

Carole... I remember touring Gettysburg when I was about 13. My folks packed all 7 of us kids in a big station wagon and drove from Minnesota to Washington DC and up the east coast to Vermont and across Canada to home. One of my favorite places was Gettysburg. My Dad was quite a history buff so he thought it important that we see lots of places on that trip.

Cindyg.... same old... same old here too. SSDD (same SH** different day). Work, sleep, eat, work sleep eat. Am hoping to lock myself in the sewing room on Sunday tho...no rain in the forecast, which is fine, the grass won't grow and it won't need to be mowed!

Suzette.... how fun to meet a friend for lunch! Good idea to get groceries today to have all weekend to play!

Izzy.... what are "straw needles"? Isn't it amazing how God can put certain people in your life right when you need them the most! That's kind of how I felt when I found this forum!

Gabriel....most days I don't want to get up!! Never set an alarm clock.. I just seem to magically wake up every morning right on time. Even when I can sleep in.. .I get up because a day off from work means I can play and I hate to waste too much time in bed. Tho on Saturdays.. .I have to take my nap!

Kathy... I'm not normally an Ice Cream person, but some days it sure does sound good doesn't it! There's a DQ on my way home from work and the other night I had a Peanut Buster Parfait for supper. Not very nutritious but it sure was good. My Mom's theory was ice cream is good for you because it has milk in it...she'd give it to my kids at 10:00 in the morning! Can't wait to see the picture of your quilt!

MaryRose... Once in a while I've thought about getting a 2nd job too... maybe at the local Joann store, but then I'd never come out ahead money wise. If you work two jobs, when will you sew or more importantly when will you sleep?

Jana.. Oh what a treat to unpack all that fabric!! and get it organized! Just think of all the projects you can do now!

Lois... Happy Swimming and Ice Cream Day. How is Dolores doing?

Chickie... I too love fresh cut flowers. I used to think that some day when I was really rich I would have flower shop deliver fresh flowers to me on a regular basis. You would think I'd love to garden and grow my own, but not so much!

Well girls I better get moving here.. Need to call the Bank president back and see what he wants. May even wander down to the sewing room for a few minutes.

Wishing you all a great day

Good morning!

I am just heading out the door to make a milk run - the cow ran dry last night! Cereal does need a little milk!

Chriss - Morro Bay is a fun place. We went down there several years ago and stayed up by Hearst Castle and did all the tours there. Have a great time!

Maryz - love glads - I have a DH just like that - except that he let my bearded irises get trampled by the power company in California - I could not replace them as they were from his parents house here in Utah and it has been sold. There will be more added at this house - I have a huge part of the Great Wall that is for a cutting garden.

Well I think that I have finally talked Scrooge - insert DH- to loosen up the checkbook and let me get started on furnishing this house. I laid out my plans - he agreed and then added a few things of his own! Whoo-hoo - so maybe later this afternoon, we will go and look at the sofa set I have picked out and get it bought.

The fabric is still out of it's boxes - just won't cooperate in getting back in! And like I need more projects to do - I have 4 quilt tops on my desk - in pieces at the moment! LOL Just barely enough room for the keyboard to sit!

My stalling is up for now - will just have to go and get milk -

Have a great day
Jana

Morning girls,

Just a quick hello. It was so hot and humid when I woke up this morning...my hair was sticking straight up. Scared myself when I went to the bathroom! LOL The fan on our A/C is not working properly so we were without last night. DH had best be taking care of that this morning (making a phone call as he knows nothing about fixing anything! LOL).

Wilkommen, Gabrielle. Ich liebe Deutschland! My husband retired after 30 yrs in the Army. We lived in Germany off and on for a little over 12 years. I still miss it! We were also stationed in El Paso, TX....yuck! Quite a difference from Germany, huh! Glad you found our little family here on QIAD. You will love it here.

Sorry I can't stay and chat...have to get back to work. Hope you all have a fantastic day.

Hugs,
Mel

Chriss a Rebel of course.

Vicky tortillas are gluten free if you use the corn ones....fill with lots of veggies and buy a rotisserie chicken at the market,,,,most have them already cooked bone and use the meat for cool delicious chicken tacos. One chicken costs about 6 bucks here and make us 3 meals.

For those of you still curious about Saskatoon berries and missed my post this morning, you can just Google them. Up pops pictures, explanations, etc. They are much like blueberries, grow on tall shrubs, and are found more in Canada than the U.S.
