Re: Happy Sunday
I am trying a home made weed spray, I hope it works. I shall be watching it closely this week.
I have unsewn and started to resew what I messed up and I have found what and where I went wrong. Glad for that.
I talked to dh last night. The cabin they normally stay in has wiring problems, so they were upgraded at no extra cost. Of all things, in his bedroom he found a book about quilt blocks and something to do with Thimbleberries to boot!! I was shocked. I told him what I thought those books cost, and I was a nickel off!! I wonder if someone left it there or if the owners of the cabin picked it up and put it there. I asked him to see if he could purchase it.
It's going to be very hot today. I don't think we have any rain coming in. Friday we had 1 1/2 inches and over night and into the early hours of Saturday morning we added 2 more inches.
Glad the hay was done, and hope they can move it off the fields soon.
Lois, I will be thinking of you, we are both having a week of hubby's off fishing..have fun sewing.
Sandy, off to the sewing machine..

Re: Happy Sunday
Good morning all. I didn't make it to church today. With the humid weather by the time I get my DH taken care of in the morning (he is bedridden) my asthma kicks in and I am wiped out. Our minister understands but I still miss going. I am going to sew and get the quilt backing and batting laid out today. Of course I will have to stop and check on the NASCAR race and the golf tournament.
Valerie - I love watermelon. Next to sweet cherries it is my favorite fruit. I make a meal sometime out of it. If I was nearer I would gladly take some. I agree that a soup kitchen or food bank would take them. Here in Ohio there is a program where people take fresh produce to the food banks.
Jana - Today's NASCAR race is near your old home you said and near Valerie. That gives me an idea of your location. I do not like road races so I will only check on the race a couple of times. Isn't it amazing how guys get grumpy when they don't feel good, but don't want to admit it.
Kho - Hope your DH is able to get that Thimblberries book for you. I got one once for $1.00 when I joined a quilting book club. That was a real find for me. I think I am addicted to collecting quilting books as much as I am fabric. It is a sickness with me. LOL
Maryz - Have a safe trip hime from your RV rally. Glad you had a good time.
Jules - Wake up at 10:30 what a treat. Enjoy!
Lois - Enjoy your free time. Hope you get your sewing room all fixed up.
Well, better go and get some more uglies done. Got lots to do before my DS, DIL, and DGs get here in 10 days. I am getting excited. Prayers for all. Enjoy the day.

Re: Happy Sunday
Good morning everyone. I had to go to work for a meeting. I had planned to go to church afterward, but had about an hour in between. I decided I would read to help pass the time and fell asleep. I just woke up and services will be over before I can get there, so staying home today.
Val I love watermelon. If I were closer I'd take some.
Judi it is good to hear you are feeling better every day. Don't get too rambunctious though. We don't want you going back in to the hospital again.
All of you who are home alone this week enjoy your mini sewing vacation time.
I think I will see what I can play with in my sewing room now since I'm home. BBL

Hello......
just a quick check in to say "Hi". Kim is doing much better. I hope to go home this Thursday. I'm tired of sleeping on an uncomfortable cot. I'll stock her frig up before I go. She's not happy about me going but I know she can do it. She walking with no assistance & using the real bathroom. Tomorrow the shower!! I've cleaned most of the cat hair up.
Val....I love watermelon. I too sometimes make a meal out of it.
Well I'm off to clean the last 2 bookcases....there a 4.
Love & prayers.....Kathy

Re: Happy Sunday
Good afternoon from warm, sunny, gorgeous, SW. Pa....Summer is here and I'm lovin it!
We went to early Mass and then onto breakfast...Always good to start the week with good friends...We then went to Aldi's but they had no watermelons....I love, love any type of melons or should say, any type of fruit....
We normally go to #3 DS's but a bunch of neighbors were coming over for a swim...The only way I'd put on my bathing suit would be under the cover of darkness and wearing a cover up over top.....It's different when I go to Florida, it seems, most women are fluffy like me and I fit right in.......
Jim is watching the Pirates (with his eyes closed)...I can't seem to get interested in anything today.....
I had something bother me yesterday and I can't get it out of my mind....I was sitting on our back porch visiting with buddy Ted's wife, Donna....We noticed another neighbor's German shepherd dog coming through the yards...This dog is huge (160 lbs. but very gentle, just a gorgeous animal)...The owner was coming up the street calling her and by then she was at the top of our yard...The owner started through the yard, calling her and as he got closer, this dog put her head down in such a defeated manor, I mentioned to Donna, that dog is afraid of him....Well, he grabbed her, knocked her to the ground and hit her a few times with his fist...She yelped a couple of times and he continued to yell at her, grabbing her around the neck and practically dragging her towards his house...The language that came out of his mouth was unbelievable....Donna and I were both in shock..It happened so fast, neither one of us could move....I felt so bad for this dog and now I wonder if he abuses her...This is the same fellow that was going to help install our vanity but I told Jim, I don't want him in our house....I'm sure he'll be stopping over and he's going to get an ear full from me....I woke up during the night, thinking of this dog and thought I heard her crying.....I'm still mad about it!
And enough of that......Right now I wish I had a big slice of watermelon........
Judi, so happy to hear you're on the right track...Those uglies can wait and make sure you follow orders, NO LIFTING!
I think I'm going to try to find something to get into.....
You all have a good day.................

Re: Happy Sunday
I started typing a good morning to you all then poof, a pop up happened and I deleted the wrong thing.. so I went to church instead...
Sharona, road trip bags will be fun.. kids love surprises... how long is the trip? when Lois' husband stops with the potato salad I will send him your way with leftovers... that man will never get his mancation...lol... Our background check will be done sooner or later.. maybe there's something about us that even I don't know about...lol
Mel, the calendar swap will be neat, after sp's is finished I may post it... what month would you pick?
MaryRose.. save some of that potato salad for me..
O'Dorothy.. we are passing on this tent/trailer.. another one will come along... it got a bit pricey for us... I was in walmart today and nothing jumped into my cart.. their fabric area looked like a tornado hit it.. I didn't even go down the aisle...
Tina, glad the quilt show was fun... I will post the calendar swap after the sp stuff is finished... it will only be 12 blocks so it shouldn't interfere with other swaps too much.
Judi, glad things are looking up for you...
Lois... if DH left around noon, and you and I are three hours apart and it's around 3 here, he should be here soon.. I will make space for the potato salad in the fridge...
Scrappy Pat.. now that we have Marilyn I don't get much free time either.. I often feel like I need to give Jerry a day to himself so Mar and I have a girls day.. it's usually fun but she can't last the whole day.. usually 2 or 3 oclock is her limit...but I do plan days for myself from time to time.. I take a quilt class or on the 2nd I am going to thrift stores with my aunt... just silly fun stuff.. hope you get to do the same.
Maryz.. vintage Santa's.. sounds pretty... can't wait to see them.. safe trip home.
Kathy, woo hoo, how exciting.. glad Kim is doing so well.. if the shower is a problem get her a shower chair... or some of those no slip decals... amazing how she could have been so bad off and poof, doing so well .. guess God ain't finished in her life yet.
O'Dorothy, is there someone you can call about the abused dog.. kind of a cps for dogs?
today Marilyn and I went to church then to wally world.. and on to lunch...she is still trying new things and places to eat.. she now likes Sizzler... then we looked through Home Depot... and came home..
remember two years ago when I was complaining about this feral child who was living here and I really wanted my life back.. well I am liking this life with my newly tamed child... amazing how a little love and dicipline can go such a long way.. we are a blessed family and it's good to be me...
hope you all have a blessed week
Chriss

Re: Happy Sunday
Long day today, I am tired had some company, I did do a little wash folded and Ken carried it up for me, I put it away. Supper is done. Dorothy can you call the SPCA in your area I believe they have a 800 number and can refer you to a local group. No dog good or bad should be treated like that.....I would call as soon as I could. Dogs will run if they are tied up too much and get lose. boy dogs will especially run too... He doesn't need to get your business and he does need your earful...Tell him to surrender the dog to a shelter so he can be loved,,,,,,I about cried when I read your post.
I will go and sew on some hexxies. early evening, xxxooo

Irish, I hope you will act on the dog abuse with the ASPCA or Humane Society. It made me cry when I read about that poor baby!
We went to a family reunion today. Later several of the cousins came by, and we sat on the deck and visited while enjoying the humming birds and the pond view.
I spent a couple of hours this evening watering my flowers. The plus-nineties temperatures and hot winds sure dry everything out!
Have a great evening!
