Howdy, friends, I did get on to read posts, yesterday, but it was so busy and I just didn't get to relax and chit and chat with you all.

We had a really good visit with our son and DIL for Mother's Day. We played "Bags" or some call it "Corn Hole". It was so fun! Had a cook out for supper, then I had to make sure I ate nothing until morning, as I had a blood test first thing Monday morning.

So yesterday was hectic. Blood test, then a trip to the next town to go visit my SIL who is on hospice. (Wow, she was so much more alert- I just wonder where it is all going. How long will this go on???))
She is making no progress and her body can not get well, but what happens next is only a mystery that God knows the outcome.
Then we had to get our boat ready to tow back. I had my annual check up after lunch, a few errands to run in town. Then we hitched up and headed home. Got home at 7PM. We still had to get something to eat, so we tapped The Voice and was able to watch it before we headed off to bed.

I got to talk to each of my kids on Mother's Day. Had flowers delivered from one, and gift cards from the others. It was really a nice Mother's Day.

Today is suppose to be very warm here, so we will have a nice day to uncover the boat and get everything ready to start fishing for this year. It is just so good to be back "home". Love to go and visit, but oh so nice to be back to our own regular routine.

Have a great day.

Good morning!

All the windows in the house are open - I hear peacocks, roosters, assorted birds singing, and the horses all making noise - a few geese flew over earlier and a few pesky cars going to work! LOL

That weight loss has taken me about a year and I still have a whole person more to lose. I am sort of doing my own thing - portion control is the biggest - that is why it is taking me so long - but I have lost 100 pounds in the past, using a perscription, and put it all back on and then some - so this time it will stay off!

Today is my activity girls - we are doing a service project - some uglies over at the Church this afternoon - wiping down with pledge, the wood chair rails in the building, sweeping areas that get forgot, etc - with eight girls, should not take us long.

So I will keep up the uglies here too today - and alter a mesh screen curtain to fit my tall sliding glass door to the deck, so that Ethan can go out and the flies can't come in! The curtain is one of those - as seen on TV - with the magnets, but it is only made for a 6'8" door. So we bought two of them and one of the panels from the second set will get sewn across the top of the other to make it long enough.

Well need to get going - it will be a warm - read HOT - day here and I will need to close up the house in a few minutes to keep in what cool I have.

Have a great day
Hugs
Jana

Good Morning!

SUZ - good luck at work being short a person. My friend took a summer job in an RV park in Spokane. 3 days a week. Then someone quit. Now she's working 5 days and a bit of OT. But she's making $$. Too bad she's not a cotton-a-holic! And not to crimp your visit to the LQS, but if you're just a bit short of fabric for borders you could get creative and piece them, or add corner blocks, and/or diamonds in the middle of each border, or ???

CINDY - a graduation AND a road trip! Lucky you! Be safe!

SHERRY - glad your DS made it home OK. and how sweet of you to wait until today to hear his voice and let his family have him all to themselves. I'm not sure I could do that . . . glad you liked my idea. I just hope it's not too expensive. Let me know what it costs because I have a few other books that are falling apart and need spiraling. DJ AND hexies?! What a quilter!!! But yes - you really should stock up on Bloody Mary mix. And Margarita mix. And wine. and . . . . .

CHRISS - yes, there is a book called The Long Long Trailer on which the movie was based. What many folks don't realize is that it's a true story. so you are buying groceries for Gramma not to cook? Does Jerry cook for her? Magazines! I can't get rid of them. I just can't. So here's what I did. In thrift shops, you can always find those plastic magazine holders for about a dollar. They hold about a dozen mags. I've sorted them all out, put them on a shelf in the holders, and labeled the holders. But first, for TV work, I spent a week going through them all, making notes of patterns/articles/crafts/whatever that I like. I put this list into the computer under headings like "Christmas", "florals", "animals", "Cats" (never to be including with mundane animals!), Seasonal, Baby, Tablerunners, Other Projects, etc. So when I want to make, say a Halloween quilt I look it up in my database and it tells me what magazines have Halloween patterns. My tastes and needs for quilts change all the time so I cant' let go of any of my magazines. I have a pile of duplicates, too, thanks to the generosity of some friends, so they go into the trailer!

JANA - congratulations on your weight loss!! What an accomplishment! and it sounds like you are doing it the HEALTHY way. Slower, but I truly believe better. I love reading every day about your family, since we were lucky enough to have met so many of them! I should do what your'e doing with the screen. A good idea!

SHARONA - happy new laptop! You'll have fun re-organizing your fabric. I remember Georgia Peach called it "whompin' fabric". and it's always fun to get reacquainted with your cotton! I call it "playing with my toys".

JUDI - I'm anxious to hear about your organic delivery. is it local or do they ship? and such choices on how to spend your day! and everyone of them "toy-ful"!! It's good to be Yooper Judi today!

KATHY - My gosh, girl! You were a whirling dervish yesterday!! how did you ever get so much done! It once took Bill 4 hours to assemble a BBQ - and then he had to take a nap! lol!!

PAT -90*! weren't you in snow just a few weeks ago?? The Midwest is a funny place . . . . Where in CO does your son live? My two sisters are in Longmont. Happy visiting!!

KARLENE - you have 'white things in the air' and yet just in the post below yours we have 90*! $100,000 for one night?? I hope your dad protested! Sometimes that can get the bill decreased. DH does that all the time and with some success. I hate to think what my brother's medical bills came to. 3 ambulance rides, 3 hospitals, several expensive tests, 4 hr surgery, 1 week in ICU, 1 week in PCU, 2 weeks in rehab. Yikes!

VELDA - I'm with you on loving to travel and visit, but my heart is always at home! Your poor SIL. I had a friend once, with pancreatic cancer. The doctors gave her until Oct 1. But she loved Christmas, rallied, and lived until Feb 8th. She actually was able to get out for shopping, restaurants, haircut. It was amazing, the strength she found.

I know more of you probably stopped by while I was taking my time chatting. Hi to all of you! I'll be back later, probably.

today is our last day with our friends. We'll probably keep it low-key so we can really enjoy their company. I think I'll make spaghetti for their farewell dinner. and I'll probably take a little time to work on my Alaskan Sampler borders today. Can't wait to be able to check this one off my list!

Let the bobbins roll!

Good morning,

I've been in the sewing room already today :-) got one more corner of vines sewn down. Two more to go. Just taking a break for a few minutes then going back in there. I really want to get this quilt done!
Caleb's been sick, so I came out to check on him. He has been tested for everything from Mono to Lyme's and they can not find what's going on with him. He just started a 10 day course of antibiotic for a mystery disease I guess. I wasn't going to put him on it but he is getting worse so Darryl and I talked about it and thought maybe we better.

We got a LOT of frost last night. I hope it didn't kill all our apples again this year. We covered our plants but not the trees.

Have a great day everyone and I hope you get to sew some.

Good morning! This evening we have 8th grade graduation to attend. One of the DGDs is graduating along with one of my grand-nieces. They go to different schools, but the same county district and all the graduation is together. Next week we have a DGS graduating 8th grade. Never a dull moment!

Chriss—thank you for the info on the skirt! I knew that I had seen it but couldn’t remember where. It might have been in one of my magazines, too. Cole’s helicopter flight was way over $40,000 for 120-150 miles… not sure the exact mileage, but they definitely do!!! Thankfully, DS2 has great insurance!!!

Suzette—sounds like you might be asked to work more hours… can you handle it? Do you want to? More $$ for fabric, but the downside is no time to sew or too tired when you have the time. You can always stockpile your stash for leaner times…

Sherry—I think MaryZ knows what she is talking about with the DJ and hexies and needing to self-medicate to relax with them!!! Good to hear your son made it HOME!!!

MaryZ—one of my friends used to take all her quilting books to Office Depot for the spiral binding. If a local high school has printing classes, they might do it reasonably as well. Can you organize my books and magazines for me, then KEEP them that way??? I should get Shelly to do it for me—she loves filing and worked in the library through college and loved it, too.

Jana—slow and sure is definitely better than medicated and fast! Best wishes for more and keeping it off!!! I need screen doors on our deck and front doors. DH doesn’t see the need—maybe if a fly or bug landed on his head followed by me with the swatter… There’s only a big problem when we have all the company…

Velda—enjoy your flowers and gift cards! Mother’s Day lasts longer that way!!! Your SIL sounds so typical… Peace to her and your family!

Karlene—this is such a crazy spring!!! Did you see the snow tsunami on the news? That would be bizarre, not to mention damaging! Wonder how insurance would deal with that??? Sounds like your quilting mojo is back!!!

Pat—what wonderful news! Have a great visit—how long will they stay? Enjoy the gardening! 90 degrees??? Oh, I just looked, and that’s our forecast, too!!! Wasn’t it just last week we were freezing???

Kathy—did you see our forecasts? You have been busy, Girlfriend!!! Don’t over-do it!!! I think you need to relax in your LQS!

Judi—know what you mean about the produce at the stores… We have lettuce ready in the garden! How exciting!!!

Sharona—have a great day!!! A new lap top!!! Who knows what treasures you may find in your sewing room…

Irish—so good to hear from you and you are getting feisty again!!! Too bad about the driving, but being chauffeured isn’t too bad, either! Be sure to tell them to brake at quilt shops!!!

Sherry, that is so sweet and generous of you! Enjoy your DS today!!!

CindyB—have a safe trip!!! Happy congratulations to your DD!

Lois—everyone is going through magazines… it must be a sign for me, too… Have a super day!

Now, I need to get busy here…
Have a wonderful day, All!

Just a quick checkin to let you know my DS just called a little bit ago. It was so good to hear his voice again. He has been in the Corps for 25 years, but I always worry about him. I just tell him it is in the "mom description".

I posted a note over on the DJ thread about getting a spiral put on my DJ book. I was amazed how cheap it was only $5.00. I am going to have some of my others done too after I stock up on Bloody Marys.

I am not anywhere near as prolific a quilter as some of you ladies. I have more time now that I am retired, but it seems time goes so fast. My problem is I also like to cross-stitch and crochet so I have to divide my time along with doing uglies. Well, at least I don't get bored.

Have a good day all! Thanks for all the good wishes for my DS.

Sherry

Good morning :o) I feel like I was on the puter all day yesterday! My Sis left and her GPS had her going some weird ways so I was using Mapquest and Yahoo to get her to a good highway instead of over a winding mountain 2 lane road! She's on track for a few hours this morning but then it adds hours onto her drive so she'll be calling me later when she gets to shiprock, NM cause her GPS and the others don't agree again LOL we'll get her here :o)
I need to do my BOM for the Jamestown quilt so I'll have it done before Carole gets here and then my Sis a day or 2 after that so I'm going to be Boing Boing Boing to excited to think straight enough to follow directions! LOL Looking forward to meeting Carole so much! Uh oh, Sis just called, trouble with truck, gotta go and make some calls for her.
Have a wonderful day! Prayers for those in need.

We are almost all packed up. Still have the cold food and last minute clothing. Have to do the last load of laundry tomorrow. Gosh, there is so much work to do to get ready to go. But it is all worth it once you are on the road. Then there is time for relaxing, site seeing, and most important meeting new and forever friends along the way. Of course, the very best thing is seeing the kids. gks and meeting my brand new baby girl, Reagan.

Tina, oh Tina, the time of our meeting is just a couple of days away. We will be staying overnight at Little Vinyard RV Park on E. Pine Street, in Deming. I will call you when we get parked. Should probably be mid to late afternoon. But I am guessing, it all depends on when we get out of here, :)

So many things going on here. You all are busy, busy ladies. No grass growing under your tusses. LOL I will have more time I hope to visit with you while we are traveling down the road. Not much else to do when you are in the co pilot seat.

Lots of love and hugs to all of you. Tomorrow will be super busy what with finishing up the loading of the motor home, laundry, and infusion day. But will try to get on before we leave on Thursday.

Vicky--your quilt is totally amazing!!! Yes, Girlfriend, you may be crazy--but wonderfully creatively certifiable fabulously flakey!!! I know you did it without a formal pattern--what an undertaking!!! I've loved your "every step of the way" with you photos and feel that we've all been your cheerleaders and co-designers as you went along. I like the neutral colors, too! Too much color might take away from your beautiful work--who knew browns were so beautiful!!! I'm sure you will be having your friend hand quilt it? What an heirloom!!!

Carole--have a safe trip and a blast meeting Tina!!! We will look forward to photos and a great report so we can be there too!

My computer is wanting a re-start, so guess I should give it what it wants... I will go do a bit on my trillium blocks...

EDIT: P.S. Vicky--I missed your earlier post... Do hope Caleb responds to the antibiotics! That's so scary not knowing what is wrong with your child. Hugs!!! Keep us posted!
