Mel - so glad you had fun on your retreat but so sorry you weren't feeling well.

Maryq - I hope you get your boss straightened out today. Don't let those people ruin your trip.

Gotta run for now. I have my nuclear stress test this morning. I'll glow in the dark tonight - LOL. I'm not looking forward to the dreadmill part.

I hope you all had a great Easter. We did.

May we all get to fondle fabric today.

Good morning!

Mel – your quilt retreat sounds idyllic, except for being sick. I hope whatever you have has the decency to not stick around for too long. I’m so glad you had a chance to get away! How did the men-folk do?

Lori – Good luck with your third shifting. My DS3 worked third shift – she liked it because it was generally more quiet. Hope you’re able to get some sewing done.

Lois – I will be hoping for less mail for you to deal with today also.

Judi – that’s a shame about your DGD in Florida – sure hope everything’s ok. I see a nap in your future also. I’m glad she’s feeling better – it’s so sweet that your DS went down to be with her. I’ll be praying for them.

Jacquie – sounds like y’all had a great time with ‘Funtime Phoebe’! How thrilling that they will be moving so close to you and Col. I’m sure he’ll do fine with the three week course with you to help him – you two make a great team.
I love your words of encouragement to our Maryq, and so agree with a problem shared is a problem halved. The pictures you posted are just beautiful! Love your dogs…

Suzette – glad to hear you had such a great time yesterday. I’ll have to pull my twister ruler out to see if my DH can get the feet off of mine.

Maryz – did you wear sunscreen while sitting outside? I have to ask – what is a rockery? I hope your DH gets the hint to hang the cabinet. LOVE the April Fool’s joke! Your dad was sure a good sport. I can’t remember doing any AF jokes – but my mom was the queen. She was like a little kid, giggling and carrying on.

Chriss – sorry you didn’t get your hamburger. Hopefully that’s the last fuss winter will make. Have a great day at work.

Maryq – I’ll be praying for your meeting today. I can’t believe she only has five weeks to go – time sure does fly. Sounds like you had a great day yesterday as well. I LOVE brussel sprouts and eat them as a snack.

Cindyg – best of luck today with your nuclear stress test. Hope you don’t glow for too long.

We had a great time at DS3. It was a beautiful day out – got up to 73. Today we’re supposed to get rain and snow. We have to move all the Christmas crap at the back of the garage up towards the back door – we’re getting the entire garage door system replaced. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

The weather here is so nice, it will be hard to leave it but I'm missing my home and family. Tomorrow we head home. We are stopping off at the Andy Giffith Museum in Mount Airy then driving home. We will be going right by were that huge accident was yesterday, I shutter at the thought. I am a nervious Nellie when it comes to traveling anyway.

I've been up since 5, cook breakfast, dust mopped and dusted the whole house, did two loads of laundry and the dishes. I wanted to help my dad as much as I could while here because his wife is bed bound. He and Caleb are cleaning out his gutters today.

Ok well, I have to find something else to do here. Not used to just sitting so much. I really wished I had brought more hexes with me to sew. I'm doing the plain white ones now.... boring.

Good morning! I’ve had a busy weekend, and I must go back and read Saturday’s and Sunday’s posts… Brunch at our house was great fun Easter morning, and I went to Mom’s and spent the afternoon with her. I took her lots of goodies for her breakfasts this week. I will be going in this afternoon to spend time with her and to eat supper with her, then come home and fix DH’s dinner. This will be a busy two weeks while my sister is out of town, so I may be pretty scarce here. When we checked the cows after brunch yesterday, we found a mama cow cleaning off her new baby. We got to see it get up for the first time, kick up its heels, frolic around, then start the search and find for its first breakfast. What an appropriate event for Easter! I never tire of seeing the baby calves… all 16 of them now!

We were at DS1’s Saturday afternoon getting an extra table and some chairs for yesterday, and I got to see DGD’s bucket calf for the fair. I’m so sorry its mama didn’t survive, but Jack (I called him HUNGRY Jack) is an adorable little dark chocolate, very friendly (and HUNGRY) calf. I’ll be over there wanting to get to feed him!!!

Mel—your retreat sounds wonderful!!! Thank you for making me feel I was there with you—mountains AND the water… what could be more inspiring!!! So sorry you were sick, but it sounds like you made the best of it!!!

Jacquie—What a lovely walking trail!!! Looks like your dogs were checking out the smells along the way! Your view is beautiful!!! So neat to be able to visit Scotland today!!! I can understand about enjoying every minute you had with Phoebe but being exhausted when she went home!!! Oh, you will have so much fun when she is closer!!! Best wishes to your DH in his course!

MaryQ—I like the sandpaper dots better than the bigger bumps on all my rulers. I understand why the twister has the larger “feet” to go over the x-seam although I agree—too much of a good thing. The larger one that I made has only sandpaper dots and my corners don’t slip. I’ve got your back!!!

Chriss—you will have so much fun with the twister! Marilyn may even want to sew! I’m sure she will figure out projects for you! What an exciting weather day! Hope the hail wasn’t damaging!!!

MaryZ—You were an ornery little cuss… and, you haven’t changed much!!! Too funny!!! Don’t you EVER change!!! Loved the story!!!

Lori—only 3 ufo’s… you go, Girl!!! Hope you settle into your new shift at work!

Lois—hope your work goes quickly and you’re home quickly!

Judi—so sorry to hear about your DGD! So glad to hear she is better—it’s scary with them so far away! We’re all here waiting with you to hear the good news that she is home, or on the way, and o.k.!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day—watch your backs for the likes of MaryZ and her tricks!!! Don’t get fooled!!! Better yet, stay in your sewing room and be careful with your rotary cutters and seam rippers…

Good Morning....

I'm slow going today. I was up for 2 1/2 hours in the middle of the night. Maybe it Wes the delicious Chinese food. We had some Won Ton soup & I thought they gave us the wrong thing it looks so different from what I'm used to. Skyped with the Grands, they showed me every toy & piece of candy....fun. I'm making today a pillow case making day.

Mell....so sorry you were sick. But it looks like you pulled up your big girl pants & quilted on. Go Girl! I love retreats. You got so much done too!

Lori....3 ufos left?!?!? Please come here I have 40 something ufos & unstarted projects.

Lois.....Have a fast & smooth work day.

Judi....sorry to hear your DGD got sick on her vacation. Praying the all arrive home soon & safe. I have a niece that called off her wedding 6 weeks before the day. It takes a lot of courage to do that.I wish her well.....sorry about your trip.

Jacquie....Children sure do help you sleep. I never had trouble sleeping when I worked in the day care. So happy you had a wonderful time....knew you would(((HUGS))) How wonderful...2 miles!!!

Suzette.....OMG...that sounds like an awful leg break! I saw it so awful. It was strange the way everyone on the bench leaned back from him.

Maryz.....how wonderful to be outside. It was too chilly & windy to sit out. It rained like crazy last night....very little snow left this morning.... That's the funniest April Fools joke I ever heard..LOL

Chriss....sorry about that burger. It will happen soon.

Maryq....you deserved a wonderful day after the week you had. I'm praying for you. So happy to hear they are not trying to get rid of you. I all ways used a list....good idea.

Scrappy Pat...sorry about your trip. I must have missed it....your DD sells fabric!!! Tell me more.

Jana.....are you going in to you red/yellow phase of life??? I'm still in mine. It is going to look wonderful!

Sandy....skunk!!! OMG!!! I wish you the best of luck getting rid of it. The one that sprayed around here last month was an eye opener for me. It woke me up & I felt it in my eyes & throat.

Karon....30+ years of teaching typing. Can you suggest how I can learn to type. I now use 2 fingers. And it takes too long.

Love & Prayers......Kathy

Good morning, good morning quilting buddies,
Hope everyone had a nice Easter. I made Cornish game hens and was not sure till it was time to eat if we would have 2 or 6 people, but it turned out to be 3. Both Victoria and Rich had to work and morning sickness has really kicked in for Victoria this past week, except it is more evening sickness. I saw a pic on pintrest where you put yellow peeps around the outer edge of a round cake and fill in the center with chocolates so it looks like a sunflower. David and Elizabeth just giggled at me - I guess it didn't look that much like a sunflower! David said I was ruining the peeps since he likes them best dried-out.

We had a beautiful day here Sat. and it was mostly gray yesterday. Today the white stuff is flying through the air again.

Maryq - hope your talk with your boss goes well and that some peace can come to your work situation. My friend (who took over the church cleaning position,) has her main job at a national chain pharmacy. She has gotten so frustrated with the job atmosphere and uncertainty, that she is putting out applications to hospital pharmacies.

Maryz - how is your new grand-pup? Did he and Snickers get along well?

Jacquie - what a beautiful view!

Have a great Monday, and watch out for the pranksters.

Morning Pals from the cabin in the woods. I've already had to spot clean carpet this morning. Something about the dog, the cat, and my arthritis can't keep a coffee cup upright anymore.
I spent most of Easter driving back from TN, but did get to see all my DGD's at some point yesterday. At least I didn't drive in snow.

Went through Paducah last Wednesday. They are getting ready for the quilt show. The big white cloud building is up for the vendors, and the girls at QIAD are getting in lots of fabric and books.

Must work in the laundry room today. Think I will get out my summer clothes. In three weeks I'm going on a cruise after a little get together with BFF's.

Mel--glad you were productive at your retreat even though you were sick. I love retreats. Wish you could all come to the one xteacher and I do in the fall.

Lori--my DS works from 10:30 pm to 6:30 a.m. He loves it. It also allows hime to put DGD4 on the bus and back off.

kho--is the puppy like a child. Is he mine when he is bad and plays with the skunk? Is the Vicks for you or the dogs?

Jacquie--two miles down the road. I would be in big trouble.

FarmChick--I saw red buds and dogwood in bloom South of Nashville. So maybe in about 3 weeks---

No time to write to all. Know that I read and think of all of you often. Hugs and prayers for all.

Good morning!

I have my uglies done for the week and no little one today - he is playing all day with his brother - we will see how long that lasts! Stu has skype with his Mom and his Dads cellphone - I expect that little guy will be here tomorrow!

You ask the best April Fool's joke - well it was played on me! A couple of years ago all the kids got together and planned this one out. My Daniel was in Las Vegas for a convention with his girlfriend, who we adored. They, together, posted on Facebook that they got married! Well I am probably the only person in the world that doesn't use FB, so all the siblings texted me that Daniel got married. I was livid at that boy! Well I was teaching a quilting class and my students had much clearer heads than mine and reminded me that it was April Fool's Day - I breathed a sigh of relief and then planned my revenge! I didn't let on to the other kids that I knew it was a joke, so I told them that I had started planning a reception for the Daniel when he got home - told the kids I had even called a reception center and booked a room and a caterer! We had them going for awhile - it was a good laugh had by all. No they never got married and broke up just before we moved here to Utah - he let a good one get away, but oh well that is life.

Today Michael and I are mocking up with brown paper the new bookcases - so we can see what it will look like in real life - and how big we should go - this works well for us - we did the same thing with the new TV we put over the fireplace - that way we can agree before money is spent. We tape the paper, cut to size, to the wall. We can play with the position on the wall too.

Well not much going on here - it rained last night and the wind blew hard, but it smells wonderful out there now!

Take care - prayers
Hugs
Jana

Mel - sorry you were sick, but your retreat sounds like a lot of fun - at least the meds helped get you through!

Miriam - what a great thing to get to see a calf's first heel kick! That is a zest for life!

Sandy - sorry about your dogs finding the skunk. That is a powerful smell.

My funny for the morning was seeing a college student walking by on his way down to campus - being chased by a squirrel! Cheeky little thing!
