Maryq - love your "Buds"!
Our combined family is large and we have a drawing at Easter for the "Adults" and a drawing at Thanksgiving for the "Kids". The idea is that everyone gets a gift to open and there is a $$ limit. I also have a wish sheet where you can list your "wants" or put down your hobbies, etc. - that helps someone with what to get. DH & I buy for the grandkids though. We try to NOT get gift certificates, though, and if possible it needs to be a "make or create" gift--if you can't make something, then "create" a basket of goodies. This stresses out some, because they aren't able to craft anything, but they manage! It helps all the kids to get to know one another! That sounds strange, I know, but I've learned alot about my own kids this way!
Wow, I wrote a BOOK!

That was happening to me on Thanksgiving Day. I took out the bobbin and casing and cleaned out all the lint, then re-threaded my machine from the beginning. It worked, so you might try that before moving to bigger troubleshooting issues.

Wow.....I just looked at the calendar.....if I break down my days off as the only sewing days (just in case) before DD's wedding, I only have 18 more days left to get quilt finished. I guess I better move into overdrive.

Good Morning from COLD SO. California. It dipped down to the low 50's overnight. The day should warm up to the high 60's later in the day. We have some fog.
No quilting/sewing for me today.
Jeff is in the shower and I am to follow, then it is off to pick up Jeff's friend, pick up oldest son and girlfriend/fiance. We might have to drive with two cars. I only have seatbelts for 4. Bjorn will be at church allready since he works their sound system all services.
Should be a nice drive along the coast up to Orange County.
After church we all go to Sandors and Brandy's home to play Risk.
<grin> Jeff did not even give me the grummies when I told him to get up and turned the shower on for him.
A few prayers for the friend Bruce that he actually WILL come along to church would be very appreciated. It might make Jeff feel better about going to church as well.
Take care, cause I care.

Hi Suzette!
Another thing I have been hearing recently, is to have the presser foot up, when you are threading your machine & needle, instead of down, like I have always seemed to do. For some reason, this helps some machines thread better, so it may be worth a try. I use C&C thread alot, & have had no major problems with it, I just stay away from the cheaper invisible thread now, & have learned to buy them in the better brands, & they work great!
I want to roll my big cutting table out to the front room here & pin baste a quilt, the way it was posted to do in the photo section. Just need to get DH to find me some more of his big clips to use, lol. Looks so much easier to do this way!
I also have to package up my Secret Santa gift, to mail tomorrow. Hope the weather cooperates! Rain today, but rain & snow showers tomorrow, so we'll see. I have everything, just need to get it mailed.
I have been playing & piecing another quilt, I found a tutorial on, in one of my yahoo groups. It's called Tesselating Tiles, & if anyone is interested, let me know & I will post the link! I am doing it all in different fabrics & it's coming out real interesting & pretty! Using batiks pretty much & I love it! DH has been watching it come to life & is already giving me more ideas using this pattern, good way to use scraps too!
Can't believe tomorrow is already Dec 1st, wow, where did the year go! You all take care & hope you find a little time to quilt today, I know I plan to!
Nancy

Re: Good Morning November 30th
Joanne, I love the way you do your gift giving. The make it or create it idea really makes people think about what they are giving and extra thought is put into each gift. I love making gifts for all my family, it saves me money and I everyone gets a one of a kind gift. DH's family gives gift cards which I have never enjoyed. To me gift cards are too impersonal and it really doesn't take any thought at all to get a gift card. Sometimes I will include a gift card for iTunes for the teenagers in the family, but that goes along with a handmade gift. Last year I put a card into the inside pocket of a totebag I made for DD, she really loved the surprise.
Well I guess my break is over and I need to get back to quilting my custom order, I want to get the binding on tonight and finish it off tomorrow if possible.

Re: Good Morning November 30th
Nancy, thanks for the secret santa reminder. I have to pack up my stuff and get it in the mail this week also.
The reason for keeping the presser foot up is that the tension is released from the top and the thread is able to engage into the tension disks properly.
I would like to have the link for the Tesselating Tiles, sounds like an interesting design.

Re: Good Morning November 30th
Today I slept in late and am getting ready to shower. I worked at Joann's friday and saturday and my body is feeling the pain today. It was a mad house. We were busy all day both days with no breaks. I did get a little time in tho shop though. I wanted the 10 drawer organizer but they were all gone of course but someone returned one yesterday before I got to work and someone else bought it. They returned it a little later themselves so I grabbed it up. YIPPPEEEE. I didn't get the door buster price but I got to use my 50% off coupon so I did good and I also got the desk top ott light which is very nice.
Today I need to sew on a quilt I am working on so I guess I better get moving and my laundry is laying on the floor in my bedroom so I have to do a ocuple of loads of that also.

Re: Good Morning November 30th
brrrr our heater isn't working...we have a fire going but that is only taking the chill off of the living room. I know it isn't cold here compared to where most of you are but I am a wimp.. It is 67 in the house. That makes it hard for me to sit at the machine and sew. Maybe I will bake something and have the oven on for awhile that will heat the room up too. A fire at one end and the oven at the other and put my machine on the dining room table that is in exactly halfway between the fireplace and oven..
