Good morning,

It's very cold outside we got about 2 more inches of snow yesterday afternoon the problem is there is probably black ice under the last 2 inches we got and I don't think it's going to warm up.
I did manage to figure out the ribbon border.
Today I think towels need to be done and the bathroom needs to be clean so I will put off going to the store if I have to.
I don't know what's for dinner might be tacos.
Well I hope everyone has a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good morning,

LOIS - brrr!! I sure wouldn't go anywhere in snow with ice underlay unless I REALLLY needed coffee. Or TP. Or wine. Glad you figured out the ribbon border. Somewhere I have directions, but finding which magazine they are in would have been a chore. But I want credit for saying I would have tried for you!

LYN - That's so nice that Garry and his sister got to talk to each other. Where does she live? Sounds like Minnie has you trained very well! I was getting the stink eye from Foxtrot yesterday when I was in my recliner because he wanted on my lap and I had a lap table there while I frogged dino blocks. They do rule the household!

DIANE - I hope you survived your day of enforced sewing. What pattern did you choose?

JUDI - sounds like you got stocked up on life's necessities, too. Are you expecting more snow?

JANA - we were rooting for the Bears, too. The Hawks played Rams a few weeks ago and it was a nailbiter. I prefer to keep my nails, thank you! In our NICU, we usually told parents to expect their wee ones to go home on/about their due dates, too. But I'll tell you, if Baby had a good course - was eating and gaining weight, didn't need any extra O2, no other problems, they almost always went home early. You may get your Valentine baby yet!

LORI - I've never cooked fish, but if I did, I would for sure do it outside - and I'd wrap it in double foil so it wouldn't contaminate my grill. Then I'd feed it to Foxy. He'd be a happy cat! I've been to both QIAD and MSQC. I wasn't prepared for either but I did find an armful of fabrics at Q. MS, like you said, is overwhelming! And they've added stores since I've been there (about 8 yrs ago). Next time I go, we're making rezzies in the RV park so we can stay longer and I can take a few days to peruse it all. And we've been to the Stitchin' Post in Sisters several times, just not during show time because it always conflicts with our RV jamboree over in Pendleton and a few years we've been in Alaska in July. I liked your quilt!

TINA B - as I sit here snuggled under my pretty blue blankie I promise you that I will do my very best to beat those Rams for you!! Just for you!

CHRISS - my DMIL had no pantry. Nothing. Nada. She had 1/2 of one shelf in an upper cupboard half filled with a few cans of things, and a few spices. Maybe one or two boxes. The fridge was equally empty and she only kept ice in her freezer. She shopped every single day for supper than night. If famine had hit, she and Dad would have been the first to go. I've tried to dig out stumps before. Best thing to do is to embrace the stump and set a flower pot or a cute yard ornament on top of it and tell people that was your idea all along. Hey! My Ghost book arrived yesterday! I've started my Christmas shopping! I'm not going to make another quilt, though.

VAL - very nice of you to spend your sew time helping your friend. She sounds like a sweetie, and so are you!

MARY Q - my eye dr also sends me a notice every year when it's time for my annual exam. I got my first glasses when I was 11 and my older sister noticed I was holding my books in front of my nose to read. I haven't missed an annual exam since then. How much snow did you get?

Yesterday I walked 6 laps at the Y, and three were without using my cane. I alternated with/without. Around the house, I don't use it much either during the day, but come evening, I am stiff so I use it then for stability. I got a dino block re-made and frogged a third (and last) one. Today I plan to get another block made. I just wish I'd had better background fabric. That's my problem. It's a mottled gray but it's too dark. On well. It is what it is. I don't think Scabooch is going to complain. When I was making my choices, I was still on pain meds. That's my excuse.

I'm thinking about supper. I'm in the mood for a meat and potatoes kind of dinner. We have a small steak in the freezer that I think I'll thaw. Bill can bundle up and grill it and we can share it. I'll make mashed potatoes, green beans, and a salad.

Have a marvy monday!

Good morning. The birds are busy at the feeders. By the looks of one feeder, it will be time to get more food today. It's a white 3 story house with windows. I can see thru the 2nd and 3rd story windows, so it's 2/3rds empty.

Lori, I want to make some more lavender sprags. That's the beading project.

MaryZ, Marilyn lives west of KC. I think you met her at Houston one year. Sounds like you are recovering well and will be able to keep up with Amara when you see her.

Chriss, Until you decide on windows coverings, you could buy tension rods and pull some fabric from your stash to hang over them.

MaryQ, Thanks for the glasses info. I need to go out to the Cabin and see what looking at my cutting mat is like.

The next door neighbors invited me for dinner yesterday. Chris is a very good cook. She fixed beef stew, fresh cornbread, salad and cherry pie. We started with wine and chit chat. They bought the house on the north side of us a year before we bought this. They are good neighbors!

Today will be a repeat, go see Garry and come home and get something, anything done. Since the inside isn't going to get painted any time soon, I think I will start hanging things that I brought from Colorado. This house means a lot to me. WE picked it out, We bought the furniture. It is Our home. The Colorado house Garry had and I moved in. Yes, I had my sewing room and we remodeled the kitchen, but it's just not the same. I Love Our Texas house.

Y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Good Morning Girls

No way in God's green earth I am leaving the house today!!! We are at 8 Below zero with possible wind chill temps this afternoon of 30 BELOW!!! Why do I even live here!!! Sure wish I was one of those snowbirds that could spend winters in Texas or Arizona.

Lois... Good Idea to stay off the roads with that ice under the snow. Tacos sounds good, I might join you for taco dinner!

Maryz.... We really didn't get much snow, but it was super windy and every year the way it blows between the buildings here, Katie and I always seem to get a drift by our front doors. I might go out and shovel a little this afternoon---or I might not! SIX laps around the track... You are rockin' it Girlfriend. I don't think I could make one lap! I am looking forward to spring tho, just to go for a short walk up the block. If I babysit Zara the dog, it motivates me to take her for a walk. I'm going to baby sit her this week, but with below windchill temps, I don't think she will even want to go for a walk!!

Judi.... Yeah for 8lbs!! Isn't that almost a size? How often do you weigh yourself? I weigh me every other day--on shower day. I'm thinking I might get a new scale, I don't like what this one tells me!

Valerie.... I bet fabric warehouse we went to has Chenille!! Too bad they don't do online orders!! Katie next door has an old chenille bedspread, would that work?

Chriss... When I moved here I found a really pretty shower curtain for my main bathroom at Target online... last fall I decided I needed a curtain in that bathroom, so I ordered another one, cut in 1/2 and shortened it and made curtains for the window! Turned out great!!! I have very deep window sills, so I just hung them on a tension curtain rod---easy peasy! I have one big huge drawer with all that stuff---ladles, big spoons, spatulas....Every time I dig in there, I'm afraid I'm going to impale myself on something. Needs a clean out!! I'm just afraid if I throw something out,

Jana.... Probably a good idea having Kate being the only one to hold little Enoch... cuts down on germs, tho, I'm sure everything is sterilized. But he knows her heartbeat and her breathing and her smell. That alone I think can be healing. Will she be able to nurse him when he's able and her milk comes in? With the fancy pumps they have these days she'll be able to get some built up for when he gets to go home. I've seen folks give away frozen breast milk. Hope Kate's heartburn is better now that Enoch is here.
Been there done that!!

Lyn.... I was just thinking about you, and here you are. I flip screens as I type and refresh often. Hope you get your glasses figured out. I thought I could get used to the curve but it was just too irritating! hope you have good afternoon with Garry, but have some time to spend at home and maybe at least pay a visit to your cabin.

Laundry is started and I just heard the washer play it's little tune. Yesterday I got the borders on one little quilt then put together one of those "One Yard" quilt patterns... Three colors, one yard of each. Found some shades of green in my stash and made a small version of Jacob's Ladder. Will get borders on that today and if it weren't so dang cold I go stash diving for some backing! I have a MSQ pattern called "Magic Carpet" all cut and ready to stitch, so I may do that today!.

oh oh...coffee's cold!!

Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday

Good morning!

Here I sit on hold with cheesy music to finish up a med supply order for the diabetic meter. They make me it until the very last minute before I can reorder. So I'm multi tasking with y'all,

Not much new in these parts. We're going out to dinner with Matt and Crenda tonight. Postponed from Saturday because of the 9ers game. After a few uglies, I'll head downstairs and work on the baby quilt . I got the mending done too. Milkshake the stuffy went home to Karlie. Daniel got some of his cars running. The red jeep is now drivable, but he's hoping that it will throw a rod, a part of the engine, and then the warranty company will cover the repairs. The simpler repair the warranty company doesn't cover, so eventually the expensive one they will.

Finally done on hold and everything is ordered and will ship tomorrow. So I'm off to get things done.

Hugs,
Jana

Lois, I've never done a ribbon border, but they do look nice on the right quilt. Tacos sound good. Might copy you.

Maryz, when I was at MS they had 14 stores. You mean there are more now? We spent the entire day there. We had to stay at a town about 15 mile away because there was no lodging in the area. I think they have changed that since.

Lyn, glad you are in a space that has good memories. How wonderful of your neighbors to invite you for dinner.

Maryq, I don't even know what it's like to have sub zero temps. That just sounds crazy to me. Definitely stay inside. I have the politics of CA, but you can't beat the weather. That's why we're still here. I too have laundry started. Magic Carpet looks like a fun and easy pattern.

Jana, it's always great when you can do something else while on hold forever. Where will you be going for dinner?

Jack and I have already walked. It's a bit cooler today, but will warm up. I'm going to cut out some wonky hearts with my new Accuquilt die. I have a couple of ideas on how to set them, but will just play for now.
I think I'll make tacos like Lois. That sounds good.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning, it's going to be a lovely day today. We aren't supposed to see fog for a few days. I don't like the fog.

Yesterday and Saturday I was in my weed eating zone. It was wet in the back of the house but I still got the job done. My arms are tired so I am taking today off.

Lois, yay for figuring out the borders. Any updates on Bill? glad you don't have to go to the store in the snow, it doesn't sound safe. Now that you have played with it for a while, do you love your quilting machine?

Maryz, Mmmmmm, steak with salad and potatoes, my favorite meal. yay for 6 laps, you are rocking that track. My fridge is pretty empty. The door is full but if I removed dad's diet pepsi it would not be so full. I just don't eat much and mostly have salad stuff. If I use a can of something I add it to my list and replace it the next time I am at the store. My ghost book will be here Thursday.

Judi, high five for 8 pounds. Yay you, your muffin top is gone. I think chicken parm is a great choice. Do you mix parm cheese with your bread crumbs before frying?

Lyn, tension rods are a good idea. Right now I have blinds in my bathroom and living room and a curtain in my bedroom. My dining room drapes have been taken down, I do wish I had waited, I love looking out the windows, and am far enough off the road so no one sees in. but I do want my windows "dressed" You have special neighbors, so nice of them to invite you to dinner. I'm glad you love your Texas house. It's so good to love where you live, it makes going home a happy event.

Maryq, I cleaned out that utensil drawer and put the excess out of sight. I haven't wished I had any of it so now I will take it to the thrift store. I don't like freezing weather, but 30 below is crazy cold. Seems like your blood would freeze in your veins if you went outdoors.

Jana, ugh, hold music. glad you got those supplies ordered. Where are you going for dinner, just incase I choose to pop on over, I'd like to know what is on the menu.

Lori, I agree, the weather he is unbeatable. And the produce is great. I won't be leaving Cali, I've thought about it but won't do it. Moose and I have also done our walk.

Last night I put some rotisserie chicken, a can of Rotel, some black beans in a casserole dish and topped it with cheese. that was dinner and it wasn't bad. Tonight I hope to have a bacon cheeseburger depending on if the hamburger is thawed out. I need to clean my stove top and might as well fry bacon before that happens.

I have nothing else on my todo list. hope your list of chores is minimal

Have a cozy day
Chriss

Dinner out is at Lonestar Steak House. Matt loves their roasted brussel sprouts. He can have them! Never will a brussel sprout cross these lips! Ever!
