tuesday jan 13th
Good morning I am up and still fighting this cold..( the cold is winning) But the show must go on. I will take Sophia fabric shopping this afternoon after school. and see what we can get done. Id like to get her started on her project, Im not much of a garment sewer so It is basically re teaching her to follow a pattern ( we made jammie pants before) I thing I bought her a basic sewing book for Christmas one year so she probably needs to pull that out, I will try to get one apron laid out and cut out, If i get her started Im sure she can do it...These are for her other gramma who is taking care of Mickey with cancer...He is doing ok but not good.
Lyn posted on facebook a very nice article about Garry and a good picture. If you have facebook it is worth a look and prayers are needed there too.
off to get coffee...have a wonderful day,,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Morning
Yesterday took a turn. What's the old saying "want to make God laugh, just make plans." Well DS got an emergency dental appointment, so I had DGD. School is only 4 days a week out here, so kids always have a 3 day weekend. So baby will come home today. The friend I taught to cook and bake wants to learn water bath canning, so that will be soon.
Lyn, my thoughts and prayers are with you and Garry.

Good morning, everyone!
What a great night! 8 hours of sleep! Whoo hoo! Makes me feel like I can do anything today! I might even make myself a list of little chores.
JANA - thanks for the flan ideas. I'm not giving up on making it - I'm just changing my mind to something that is easier to fix because at this point, I can't stand for too long in the kitchen at a time. Flan was a lot of standing and stirring - too long. Hence, layered Mexican dip w/chips.

LORI - so sorry to hear your shoulder isn't getting any better. Hopefully it's not getting worse! Are you still going to PT? What does dr say? Maybe it's time to talk to another dr? Do you have an actual diagnosis other than "hurting shoulder"? But you seem to get a lot done despite the shoulder. That's a good sign. I will think of you every day at 4pm now. That's about when we also sit down - and have a glass of wine! Sometimes two!
CHRISS - today is Elliott Day!! Hooray for Elliott Day!! Come back with stories of games, chases, and smooches! I believe you know the rules! And no, it would be beyond difficult to walk the Y track with a cane, hauling a folded up walker along. lol! I just set the walker in a hallway+ out of the way. Today - I'm going to try not even taking the walker into the building. If this works for me, for a few days, then the walkers will get folded up and hung up in the rafters of the shop, waiting for the next hip surgery.
MARY Q - I remember my dad giving my mom a new Singer when I was about 8th grade (1965-ish). A portable. She was thrilled! He joked for years about it being portable - it was HEAVY and he hated moving it around for her. She didn't leave it set up, but had him drag it out everytime she wanted to sew something. I think my sister took it after Mom died in 1989. And I have no idea what happened to Mom's old old Singer. Wish I knew, but she must have given it away. Your area is sure making the news.
LOIS - how did your Bill's dr appt go? My Bill had a long unpleasant dental appt yesterday. Sounds like both Bill's needed a bit of coddling last evening.
JUDI - I hope you're feeling better soon. Bill was talking with his sister yesterday and she's had a similar cold and finally went to the dr and was dx'd with RSV. Said she was in bed for 2 days and is still not feeling well 10 days later. I have no idea if she had the vaccine or not. She hangs out with grandkids a lot. They are little petrie dishes. Have fun with Sophia today. Fabric shopping is always fun!
FLO - have you tried your Baby out yet? Is she happy to be home? Let the buttonholes happen! OOPS! I just read that your yesterday took an unexpected turn. Hope your DS is OK.
VAL - everything OK? I hope you're just busy and not sick. So much sickness everywhere. When I was in the ER last week, there were guerneys lined up, head to toe - maybe 2 or 3 dozen (It's a HUGE ER)- with patients and it looked like they all had the flu.
LYN - thinking of you and Garry - every day.
I talked with TINA R yesterday. She sounds very tired. She is still working delivering things to people. And says she will keep working until she is able to start collecting SS in another year or so. Also, next week she is going to start babysitting Baby Ava for Holly in addition to working. So there is no sewing going on at her house. Tina's dad isn't doing very well, and she is also still making many of his suppers. Sometimes they take it to him and sometimes he comes to their house to eat.
Yesterday I got my fifth dinosaur halfway cut out. I spent some time reading. I walked four laps w/ cane, and 1/2 lap was without even the cane. Today - not even taking the walker into the Y. After finally starting to get some good sleep, I am feeling stronger. I feel like getting so little sleep for 2 weeks really set me back. This morning I've already given the main bathroom a lick and a promise so when LuLu comes tomorrow (Yay, LuLu!)) she won't be too shocked. I'll do our master bath next time I go downstairs. I do stairs pretty well, but carefully, leading with the good foot going up (because good goes to heaven) and with the bad foot going down (because bad - well - doesn't go to heaven).
Which is how PT explained it! lol! I've got chicken out to thaw. I'll chop it into bitesize pieces and marinate in Mr. Yoshida's marinade. We'll also have rice and a salad. It's going to be a great day!

Re: tuesday jan 13th
Good morning!
Still a bit dark here. And cold. We still have a bit of snow on the ground.
Today starts our PT. Sarah is taking Mr G to this appointment. It's across the valley and it's a setup one. The rest ones, I do and those appointments are local. Also today is my Emma's birthday. She tells me it's a very special birthday. She turns 13, born on the 13th and was born in 2013. All the 13's align. I smile. I need to check and see if it was a Friday, I don't remember.
Finally got the meds all set up and in rotation. The new med for Parkinson's had to be cut in half to start, cut down on side effects. One side effect I'm not looking forward too, is it could cause agitation. Not wanting more of that! This med is to help with mobility, bending, etc. PT should help with that too.
That's about all here. Do fun stuff! Oh, my flan is no standing and stirring, just mix and bake, no stove top on either recipe.
Hugs,
Jana

JANA - I can't believe Emma is 13. And on the 13th! Did you know this is called her golden birthday? When you are the same age as the date you were born, it's your golden birthday. And happy birthday to her! You should consider putting your flan recipe on our recipe page. I hope everyone remembers that we do have a recipe page here.
I got in my four laps, sans walker! Whoo Hoo! Plus, half lap was no cane either. Plus, I walked to the car in the parking lot instead of waiting to be picked up at the door. Admittedly, Bill got a fairly close parking spot - but every little bit is a triumph. I've got dinner planned and will get it started soon - marinating the chicken.
I saw Lyn's FB post and photo. It's a great photo of Garry and a beautiful post. Bless them both.
And now I'm going to finish my coffee and then head for the kitchen. Feels so good to be useful again!
mz & Mr. Cat who is now back in his usual spot next to me.

Re: tuesday jan 13th
Good morning everyone.
Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.
MaryZ, I heard you. Things will get done someday. The drive to the nursing facility can vary. There's 3 different roads to get to Burnet, 2 are more scenic. I usually take a scenic route.
The pest control company offered to respray for free. So yesterday afternoon before the guy got here I decided I should blow the leaves off the porches, forgetting that besides leaves there was Cedar pollen.
2 Benadryl later, I was still sneezing like crazy. The guy, Josh, they sent had worked for the previous company and has sprayed here many times. After I told him about the Scorpions, he knew what the other guy hadn't done. Hopefully the house will be Scorpion free now.
Time to get moving. Hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Good Morning Girls
Oh Oh, slept in a little bit this morning, but what the heck, I'm retired!
The sun was shining brightly when I got up, but has since gone under! But it's going to get pretty warm today, so I'm sure we will lose a little snow---ok by me! I'm sure we will be getting more!
Judi... How fun to go fabric shopping with Sohpia. Is she wanted to sew clothes to wear for herself? I used to sew a lot of clothes when my kids were little, and for myself as well. Have you seen the price of patterns lately? IF you can find them!!! Every once in a while if Peggy and I go thrifting I look for patterns there. I've been promising to make myself a couple of shirts for a couple years now!
Flo.... YEAH Baby's coming home!!! People laugh at me because I have 7 sewing machines in the house, but I just could never go with out! (ok so not all 7 work!)
Maryz... EIGHT hours of sleep!!! amazing!!! I'm so happy for you. What a difference that will make in your day!! I know this sounds crazy, but if I have to go down a lot of stairs, I hang on tight and go down backwards. For some reason that seems so my easier on my achy-breaky knees! You are so right---a lot of madness in Minnesota these days. Though some days I think the whole world has gone mad!
Jana... What a fun birthday your Emma has... 01-13-13! Yes a golden birthday. I hope there will be cake! My Eli will turn 13 in May---where did that time go!!
Lyn... I had to check out your Post on Facebook, but logged off right away as I can easily get sucked in there! You are the pillar of strength for Garry and I'm sure he knows it!
Chriss... YEAH, it's an Elliot Day Unbelievable that he's 16 months old already and probably running, not walking, every where he wants to go. Can't remember the last time I wrote a check!! About a year old, my bank was bought out by a different bank--they ordered me new check, only 50 ---they will last me about 3 or 4 years!
Lori.... Sorry to hear that your shoulder is still bothering you? What's the next step? Surgery? UGH!! I like washing windows, but that little area where they slide---not so much. My kitchen window, where my ironing board sits, seems to collect not only dust, but a lot of fabric lint too! Imagine that?
Guess I better get to work, It's after 11 here already. I did manage to finish putting together 2 small (45x45") tops from a bunch of layer cake squares and a MSQ tutorial--ok here it is.
Today I'm going to work on getting borders on then another project from a jelly roll I found!
Wishing you all a Terrific Tuesday! Prayers all around!

Maryq, I love that pattern. I won the blocks from the lotto and mad that quilt. Mines a bit bigger though. What?...dust and lint from fabric. lol It's amazing how much lint I get in my sewing room. I won't do surgery unless there are no other options.
Lyn, glad the pest control is going to spray again. Bummer about the Cedar pollen. Hope you have a good day with Garry. Prayers for you both.
Maryz, we're going to have to call you speed racer. I bet it's great to finally start walking better. Shoulder is frozen. Because I sleep differently, I get knots in my neck and upper back muscles. I have an appointment Thursday with my doctor. Hopefully we can figure out a better plan. Funny, you're having wine and we're having coffee. We do stay up later though.
Jana, happy special birthday to Emma. Hope it's her best ever.
Flo, I've never done that canning, but was always interested. Maybe some day when I have extra time. lol
Judi, I bet you'll have fun shopping with Sophia for fabric. I taught my granddaughter to sew and then 5 years later she made her own quilt. And not an easy pattern. If she wants to sew, she will. It's in her blood.
Valerie, what are you up to these days? How's your BIL doing in Vegas?
Chriss, I know you are having a blast with Elliott today. Enjoy every moment.
I have some angry knots in my back and shoulder this morning, but I have things to do so I will power though. I'm having friends over tomorrow for a paint party and lunch. I need to dust and vacuum and prep food today. If I get a free moment I'll do another row on my quilt. That's all I got together yesterday.
Not sure what's for dinner just yet. The boys have been walked and I need to get busy.
Have a lovely day.

Hi all
Just a quick drive by to say hi, prayers to Lyn and Garry.Lyn you are such a strong person, I am proud of how you are doing everything. I often wonder how I would doin your place.
Prayers to Lois, Bill, and all dealing with life’s challenges. House is about 90% undecorated and still working on cleaning and doing bedding. Went to retina Dr for checkup today but can’t sew tonight because eyes still dilated. I read all your post butI feel helpless and wish I could send you all a hug.
Take care be safe and find comfort in knowing others are praying for you.
Hugs

Lori, Years ago my Chiropractor told me to put 2 tennis balls in a long sock and tie a knot next to them. Then hold the end and place it on your back where needed and lean against a door frame, lean into the door frame. Adjust as needed to hit the spots.
MaryZ, You are going to be Walker and Cane free soon.
Chriss, I hope you gave Elliott enough hugs to get mine covered too.
