"CATURDAY", January 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jan 10, 2026 6:58 am

Good morning,

Today my last baby, Autumn, turns 49. And it's also my dad, Fred's 114th birthday. And my late sheltie, Shamrock, would be 41. We used to have some bang-up birthday parties "back in the day"!

JUDI - there is a long time between now and the graduation quilt. Something will come up, I'm sure. We quilters are seldom bored! I'll be on the lookout for a project for you! I'm here to help. :D

JANA - I'm glad you were able to find those precious little outfits! Safely tucked in with the trains! And I'm glad you now know how to operate all the guns on the Vietnam-era destroyers! You never know when such tidbits of knowledge will come in handy - like if you are playing Trivia in a saloon!

LORI - I'm glad you got some better sleep, And I hope last night was even better yet! I do just shake my head when I see street interviews on TV - I don't know how some young folks today ever got out of 3rd grade!

CHRISS - today is your ottoman class. I hope you fall in love with sewing again and end up with a beautiful ottoman. Cindy G made one and called it a tuffet in her class. Disneyland sounds awesome - something to discuss and dream about. But the reality is this year, Elliott wouldn't get much out of it and his "team" would end up having to do a lot of carrying. He couldn't go on very many rides at this age. I hope they wait a year or two. But if they don't, have a great time and take lots of pictures! I know Lori and Carol both live very close to DL. Would be wonderful if you could have a meet'n'greet with them.

DIANE - first of all, it's never too late to post here. I think we all go back next morning and read the prior day's posts. UFO's. I was reading an article in a last issue of BLOCK magazine about how to organize your sewing room and the first thing they said was to empty it. Everything! ALL the fabric. And you will find stuff you had forgotten, UFO's, fabrics to keep or to 'share'. Now I'm not doing that, but if you want to, go ahead. Jenny Doan says it's the thing to do for the new year. That process would take me a solid week even with two good hips! I'd rather spend my time sewing. And do I really want to find any UFO"s? They became UFO's for a reason!

MARY Q - My brother, Jim, spent his 4-yr Navy hitch on the USS Sperry in San Diego (Pacific Fleet) Gene was on the USS Mulllinex based in Norfolk, VA in the Atlantic Fleet (both 1956 - 60). Gene saw the world, Jim mostly saw San Diego. But if you Google the ships, there is all kinds of fun "merch". We found a mug for Gene with a picture of his ship, and all the facts about it - commission/decommission dates, water displacement, guns, etc. You can buy caps, shirts, plaques, blankets, certificates, etc. We ordered a mug for Gene and it arrived in his mail one day as a complete surprise. He LOVES that mug! So if you haven't checked out the USS Caron's site, it might be fun to do it. Everyone in your family gets a cap or mug next Christmas!

LYN - I'm glad Minnie snuggled up with Dad. I hope she continues. Pet therapy, even with a strange pet, is so comforting, but with your own beloved pet, invaluable. I know I'd feel much happier if I had Foxy hogging my pillow and Scottie taking up all the foot room of my bed. Little Minnie holds a lot of healing power if she can overcome the strange setting. I hope you can keep taking her.

LOIS - I hope your Bill's dr appt went well. If/when he starts dialysis, many patients do their dialysis at home, often while they are sleeping. This has been done for decades. My high school friend's dad did his own dialysis at home and my niece's husband is doing it now. I's not for everyone, I know, but it's something to think about if/when the time comes.

Yesterday was chiropractor. As I limp along with walkers and canes, it's throwing my low back and left hip out of whack. He is helping to keep me in good alignment. Then we did a couple errands, and went out to brunch. I had waffles! I haven't had waffles in probably 20 years. Yum! At home, Bill did 3 loads of laundry and I finished my second dinosaur and cut out a third. We heated up leftover "stewp" for supper. That was pretty much the day around here. Weather was cold but dry. I'd really like to get out in the yard and do some clean up in my flower beds. Our side yard is buried in fall leaves. But that's going to have to wait a while longer, I guess. Today - another dinosaur.

We are taking the kids out for Mexican food tonite. If their plans happen as they are hoping it will be their last night here. After 7 months they will be leaving us tomorrow, starting on their "camp-about" which will probably be 1 to 2 years around the country - before they decide when/where they want to settle down. And at this time of year, the only choice to begin their travels is heading south. I will miss them, but I'm so happy for them to be starting out on their long-held dream. And even though today is Autumn's birthday, we're going to be celebrating Lara's birthday tonite. In 3 weeks she'll be 54, and who knows where they'll be by then.

It's Saturday! Or around here we call it "caturday". I hope it's a good day for all of us!

Very breezy and cool. We were supposed to get some much needed rain, but it disappeared. Cedar is very high. I will be stuffed up in short order when I get outside.

I'm happy to report that the new right headlight assembly is in. Hopefully that's the last Jeep issue for a long time.

I will take Minnie today. She can sleep in the Jeep while I feed Garry. I will take her in after lunch. I think the Scorpion really traumatized her. Usually my inside house cameras go off maybe 4 or 5 times as she gets up off her bed and looks out the sliding door, in a 4 hour period, then goes back to snoozing. Yesterday the camera went off 74 times in 4 hours.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning!

A touch more snow this morning but the will be it for a week. Doing my nurse duties this morning. Picked up another new med to incorporate in the routine, so I needed another pill box for those new ones. They'll be here today, almost faster than me driving downtown!

Seems we all have kids born in 1977! Sarah turns 49 in February.

Working 9n the baby quilt. Sarah will be down. She'll help with the embroidery.

That's about it around here,

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

When I first logged on, there wasn't a post started for today but I figured somebody else could be in the process of starting us out for the day, so I sent and took my shower... and WA-LA here we are!!

Maryz... Was thinking about Aut's birthday yesterday... remembering that it was the day before Jen's. Funny you mention the web site for the USS Caron.... many years ago my Dad bought us all watch-caps from the ship store online. Not sure how he found them, because he was pretty computer illiterate! I have mine somewhere around here. He was super proud of that ship, long ago decommissioned. Named for Wayne Caron, who was killed heroically in Viet Nam. What a great experience for L & L. I'm sure they have done all sorts of research on places to go. I wish them well!!

Lyn... Poor Minnie, that scorpion really must have scared her. Enjoy your day with Garry, I'm sure he is always so happy to see you.

Jana.... We have a bit of snow here too this morning, just enough to coat the roads again. Thankfully nothing in the snow Storm category. My grandkids drive back to South Dakota for college tomorrow, so I'm always nervous about the weather. It's about an 8-9 hour drive. I always check the weather along their route!

Good morning,
Well its suppose to get up in the 40's today I don't care I am not moving out of this house it seems to me that this past week has been all Drs visits pharmacy and grocery.
House finally got cleaned wash is caught up bed is made dishes are done and I'm going to sit here and sew I miss my machine.
This afternoon we are getting rain.
My son in-law is going to be celebrating his 50th birthday the lady at the restaurant let the cat out of the bag along with his mother my daughter is very upset and now there is no surprise so this morning I found a great panel it's an eagel on a motorcycle dressed in an American flag so I'm going to make this sort of like a quilts of valor and birthday surprise so the panel should be here by next week and I will give this to Sandi to give to her husband as a surprise she's not even going to know about it.

Well that's all the news from here.
Have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Lois... Oh that's a bummer that somebody spoiled your SIL's surprise!! I take it your SIL rides motorcycles?

Chriss.... Salisbury steak.. OMG I bet I haven't made that in years.. not sure I even remember how!! We were talking about good meals to fix the other day at lunch and somebody mentioned Beef Stroganoff! Man doesn't that sound good too!!! I wake up every morning trying to think of something to fix for supper.

Lori.... I like that theory. I know I move a lot slower!! Part of the thing I hate about time going faster is I don't seem to be able to get as much done during the day as I used, or at least it seems that way!

I did get a few things done yesterday. Finished the little kit Viv gave, only had to fix a HUGE mistake, only to get it back together and see another smaller mistake--so I'll be spending some time with jack later on today. Got the border on another little random project and started sewing together squares from a disappearing pinwheel project I started quite a while ago. While watching tv I went through a jelly roll putting pieces together for a pattern I found in a magazine. Trying to use up all the jelly rolls I have around. Eventually I'll have to quilt some of these tops.

This morning I'm getting ready to go out to lunch with Kris and Evie. Afterwards there's Purse Bingo! A while back I played with Kris and won a really nice purse! SO I guess I'm the lucky charm! It will be fun to spend the afternoon with the girls--especially as Evie goes back to school tomorrow.

time to run and put on face and do hair and with any extra time, do a shine up in the kitchen.

See y'all tomorrow!

Good morning all//I started to post here and went poof so i went down to get coffee and came up made the bed got dressed and started to shred some papers...push to shove I finished the pile and bagged up the shred, I would have loved to take the whole bag of shred and just toss it out the upstairs window to see where it would go. but my 79 year old self told my 5 year old self to just take it out to the trash, Im sure it would have looked like a snow storm,,,
Today I was supped to go to the quilt shop with Sophia but Ken made early dinner reservations at a fancy steak house for our last years anniversary dinner we just kept putting it off, so today is the day...and Sophia didnt want to go till noon ( teenagers waking hour on the weekend) and I had to be ready to go a 3...not near enough time, to brouse a quilt store... get fancied up and go...so I will try to connect with her during the week. We will be getting her started on the cobblers apron...She only want me to get her started on one then she will make 2 aditional for her other Grammas birthday, ( story is that Patty has one from the 80s she is dtill wearing and it is raggedy,,,so Sophia wants to replace it with an everyday, a christmas and a birthday one) I am happy to help.
Last night We went to the hockey game the boys lost to a top tier team but they played well..I will need to get the graduation quilt done before May and graduation but I am still loving and working on JANE...I did 2 more small applique blocks ready for hand applique...I will do a 4th and start the hand aplique,.they are a lot smaller and should take much less time.. I really think this will be my favorite quilt when its done...very complex but so pretty. I loved the other Jane Austen quilt but this one is even prettier. And the hand applique is stunning, makes the quilt look so nice,,,I cannot imagine doing this by machine,,,
Well I have things to do Hope you all have a quilty and happy afternoon.
Lyn When Ken was a young teen he was visiting his brother who lived in Houston at the time. He got bitten by a scorpion and rushed to the ER thinking he was going to die ( watch a lot of movies) the Er dr said to him the scorpions you find in Texas hurt a lot but dont kill you. But if you dont calm down you will give yourself a heart attack. I lived in houston for 2 yrs and never even saw one....XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Christmas is down and packed away in the railroad storage area. Nice to have help and tall grandsons! Tanner reached down all the nutcracker wall and I packed them all away. I still have Dickens to do, but that's Mr G's thing, as the lighting is delicate. The house needs cleaning and does look so empty! I can see my mountains again! A tree was in the way before.

Now to cleanup the Christmas dust that the elves left!
