Monday Decenber 1st, 24 days til Christmas

Post by grammiequilts » Mon Dec 01, 2025 5:11 am

Good Frosty morning 16 here, Im not ready for this cold. 30s I can handle but the teens and below arent my cup of tea.
I am still in cleaning mode here I still have lots to do and a calender full of appts and things to do. Cookies arent going to bake themselves and I need to order food and delegate dishes to bring,
I might just put cookie dough together and get it chilled. while that is chilling I will get to some chores. Peanut butter, chocolate krinkles, sugar, chocolate chip and maybe snickerdoodles.
Id rather be sewing but tis the season...
Hope you are all having a fun time. I wrote out a bunch of Christmas cards last night over the years I have just saved the left over card in a box so this year I brought them all out and I will use them up as much as I can. So many do not send cards anymore but I try to keep that tradition alive. Seems we have lost so many traditions and I miss them. I am trying to send a few to folks we havent heard from in a while. AND I bought forever stamps a couple of years ago so I feel like its still a bargain to send a few more cards out...

Morning
Quiet Morning for me. Joe of to state highway dept. He drives snowplow in winter. Usually only gets 2 or 3 call outs.
Maryz, cross stich project is a 3 piece tablecloth that's stamped. I picked panels up as a bundle at thrift shop years ago. It's sunflowers with trellis. Panels are so old could not find them online anywhere. I am alternating yellow and orange flowers. Almost done with last piece. I will then join them together and will layer. Trellis lines will be my quilting lines. Will try to post on our Facebook page pic.
Have a great day

Good morning,

We have landscapers here doing the rest of the leaves.
After they are finished I will go for a trip to hobby lobby for cookie boxes and odds n ends.
I really want to try and get things done .
Wednesday we have 2 apts and about 3 more for the month of December then I'm hoping that's it until January this has been quite a year for appointments.
Did get some of the cleaning done yesterday.
So I will continue through out the week.
Jana I hope you are feeling better today.
Judi have fun.
Well that's all the news from here.
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning,

It's December! This fall has raced by so fast! Next thing you know, we'll all be wearing our cyber Easter bonnets! Costco has already gathered up what's left of their Christmas stuff (which isn't much!) and put it all in one little spot.

JUDI - You might shake it up this year and make haystacks which don't need baking . . . I like haystacks. Yum! Or Rocky Road Candy. Yum Yum! I still want to bake something - maybe those peanut butter cookies. And I'm with you on cards. I keep sending. But receive only about half of what I send. And I always buy forever stamps, too. Did you get that sashiko foot for your Bernie or were you just mentioning it? And how are you liking your new Bernie? Bill tried to talk me into getting that same model during the sale, but I'm so happy with my B480. It does all I want and more. I'm a simple sewer. Why fix what ain't broke, I say.

CHRISS - I'm sure dad is loving all the meals you are bringing him. Have you tried making a big pot of chili? You can freeze it in meal-sized containers of Ziplocks. Chili is so easy to make with a crockpot. And white chili is a nice variation - using chicken and white beans. I've had food poisoning twice in my life. The first time I was only 19. I was scared I was going to die and afraid I wouldn't! I can't imagine having it on a plane!!

JANA - oh no! Not Nurse Jana! How are you feeling today? Did anyone else get sick?

MARY Q - Snow! I'm jealous! I love snow! I remember when I was a kid, my mom kneel on the couch and watch it snow from the big front window, chin in hands, and sighing at the beauty of it. And when there was about 3", we'd all pile into the Ford station wagon and go for a snowy drive. Good memories! Thanks for the 'cold' advice but I can't stand Nyquil! I think I'd rather have the cold than take that stuff! Though it's my sister's drug of choice. But so far, if there is a cold, it's holding off. And after today, I have to stop taking everything except my two Rx's, and the gabapenten. And I can take Tylenol. No more IBU. No more supplements of any kind. Sorry about your poor Vikings, but happy for our victorious Seahawks!! They were certainly flying yesterday!

TINA B - you were in Europe??? When you said you were going for a little getaway for a few days. I was thinking maybe someplace within about a 200 mile range and staying in a nice B&B. Germany this time of year must be gorgeous! I was there in October, 2003. I loved it! Glad you were able to make that little getaway! But what an adventure you came home to!!

FLO - your X-st project sounds lovely! What a great find in the thrift shop! I've been a stitcher longer than I've been a quilter - about 45 years I'd guess. I've done stamped patterns and regular X-st, but I need to use larger aida now.

LOIS - anything going on in your sewing room right now? I hear ya about appts! I've lost track, but I counted from May to Sept I had over 100, counting my chiropractor. This coming Thursday I have 4, but one is a massage and the other 3 are all in the same building, one after the other. I am tired of appts, too!

VAL - glad to hear Tony is doing OK.

LORI - I rec'd and printed those directions. I plan to work on prepping that project today. What kind of project(s) are you working on right now? Are you still taking the water color classes?

LYN - So nice that your friends have landed in the park with you. How long will they be staying? If we were there, we could help with stress-reducing happy hours.

Yesterday we went to Costco, Target, and CVS. After putting everything away and making lunch, I sat and wrote out Christmas cards. And everyone is going to get our photo card of our grandkids because we needed about 70 but they were sold only in increments of 50, so we had to buy 100 of them! And by golly, we're going to use them! So you're welcome! Last night we combined charcuterie snacks with L&L and we watched Muppet Christmas Carol. I love the Muppets!

Today is chiropractor and mailing 3 packages to family. Then I'll be working on more cards, prepping my wool mitten project, and maybe bake something. I always have a list to work from but usually don't get to it all. Bill has my Vintage Christmas quilt about halfway quilted. I told him I was hoping to have it quilted, bound, labeled, and on our bed for Christmas. I'm sure it will happen. I've set my Nativity painting aside for a few days.

Like Judi said - only 24 more days until Christmas. And 3 weeks from today is winter solstice and we'll start gaining daylight again! Spring can't be far behind! Can it?

Good morning!

The worst has passed. I am feeling better. Moving very slowly.

We got snow! About 3 or 4 inches. Everything looks so pretty. It might stick around for awhile, we were at 21, and now up to 25. Some excitement in the neighborhood last night. PD was driving up and down the streets looking for something, lights, but no sirens. We heard a noise in our yard, but that was it. Boy, do I miss Aaron being with PD! I could find out all the doings!

Daniel came over between snowflakes and took Karlie's big bear home to her house for her bd. Haven't heard if she liked it. I know she does, she had asked for a bear as big as she is. This one is! Grandma's house is a great hiding place for snoopy grands!

Do fun stuff!

Hugs,
Jana

Jana, so glad you are feeling better. I'm sure Karlie loved her bear.

Maryz, I'm working on another wool project that's a pillow that says Joy. I just need to put a zipper in and make the pillow. It will go to my sister for her birthday this month. I don't need anything back. The patterns I found in the packet are all different. All very cute. I may have to make another one.

Lois, I was thinking about going to Hobby Lobby for something the other day, but can't remember what it was. I guess I don't really need it.

Flo, your table cloth is really pretty. That will be nice on the table.

Judi, brrrr. I have my cards just need to write them out. I too have leftovers from years past. I try and keep the tradition of cards going, but not many people send them anymore.

Valerie, what are you up to today?

Chriss, sounds like your dad is doing much better. I bet he is so glad to have you as a daughter. I used to make all my dads meals the last year he was home. I even bought containers that were easier to transport and heat up. They were for meal prep area of Target.

I need to get dressed and take Mr. Jack for a walk and do my exercises. Then I have some phone calls to make this morning. I also need to put away fall quilts and bring out the Christmas ones. I think I have more fall than any other season. I'm going to finish up a small project I made for my sister and start another small project. Dinner will be chicken on the grill with potatoes and onions. I think I have some fresh zucchini as well.

Have a lovely day.

Back -

Have I got a good story for y'all!

On Thanksgiving, at dinner, my Tanner was making a huge fuss about going to Lowe's on Black Friday, morning, because he wanted one of the free Lowe's buckets they were giving away. He wanted that bucket, big time! Now in the bucket were gifts, mug, carving knife, etc and a chance at a $2000 gift card. Tanner wanted that gift card to buy tools. Turns out that gift card was for any appliance under $2000, not tools. Guess who won the big gift card, yup Tanner! So because he's only 15, Crenda had to collect the winnings. She got a brand new permanently stacked washer and dryer. Tanner was very happy, just that he won! And got his bucket!. So Matt took the truck over and gathered the winnings. There were confetti, balloons and pictures taken by the store. So Matt is redoing the laundry room, all nice and pretty this weekend. Cabinets, counter and paint.

I'm feeling much better tonight. Still tire easily.

Just thought I share the fun,
Jana

Hi all,
Its 26 here now at 8 pm and snowing again. Might get 2-3 inches tonight. Didn't go to water aerobics today thought roads would be slick. Maybe tomorrow. busy day going through collected mail, and two weeks of laundry. Bed needed to be changed and put flannel sheets on too. Yes the Christmas markets were just opening and they were great fun too. Saw many towns and heard many legends. It was fun to get away.
Will make the most of each day, like you all have cookies just a few, cards and decorating to do. Picking at it at a steady pace.
Hope all are safe and warm with this early winter blast. With the snow got out of cutting grass and picking up leaves one more time. While we were gone big tree in back finally dropped all its leaves. Next spring will rake them up. The rate time is flying by, two blinks of an eye and it may be March. Time is fleeing.
Be well, safe and warm. Prayers to all.
TinaB
