Saturday November 8
Happy Saturday
Got a few chores done yesterday. Then made the second pillow case. We drove to a town named Pahrump which is about an hour down the road. There is a small quilt shop there. I gota batik jelly roll to make a two sided table runner. She also had some complimentary patterns so I took two the those. We were thinking of going to Tonopah today but it's a 2 1/2 hr drive. Maybe I will suggest Henderson which is only about an hour. Then we can go to Quiltique.
Chriss did you win big.
Lori the dr ordered home health. There is just nobody that will come out here. Had the same problem when my sister was sick. He is getting frustrated and angry with people when they call. He doesn't necessarily know that many of the people who call aren't associated with Home Health. He has the knowledge he just can't or won't apply it. Yes. I need to go home.
Lyn that recipe looks wonderful. I may try it one-day.
Not much else new around here. I do have a load of laundry in the dryer to fold. Should straighten some of the clutter.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Re: Saturday November 8
Good morning,
Happy Saturday to everyone! We have no weekend plans - just the dinner party last night. Good food, good people, good wine, good music. This group, our Supper Club, is the 3 ladies that are Bill's best workout buddies from the "Y". We take turns hosting and the host decides on a main dish and makes that. The rest of us bring desserts, appetizers, salad. Our turn usually falls in summer so we usually grill and eat outside. Last night we had pork roast. Delicious!
JUDI - I had to Google Hallmark shops as I haven't seen one near us in years. And found one tucked into a
small shopping center in Tacoma near Trader Joe's. Now I want to go check it out! I hope you got everything you wanted on your 'spree'. Did you buy any Keepsake Ornaments? Last year Lara gave us one - an RV ornament - a tiny replica of Cousin Eddie's RV from Christmas Vacation! lol!
LOIS - did you get your next project on your frame?
DIANE - glad you have passed the halfway mark on your radiation. You keep hanging in there! Waiting for test results is worse than the test itself!
JANA - and we'll wait with you, too, for Mr. G's test results! And my Bill will be having an ultrasound on Tuesday so we'll join you in the waiting game. He has a lump on his thyroid and biopsy was "inconclusive". Those roosters must be pretty cool! I remember years ago Cindy G was doing a set of roosters, appliqued. If I remember correctly hers were sort of goofy, very colorful roosters that projected attitude.
VAL - Hopefully Tony will catch on to everything once he has to rely on himself. You've been an angel to him and now the best thing you can do for him is take off his training wheels. And he knows if he's REALLY up a creek without a paddle, you are only a day's drive away. In the meantime, a road trip to other towns sounds great! As long as you are in Henderson, the dam is very close and also the lake. Interesting to see. We have been to all the places you've mentioned. Even the Pahrump quilt shop.
MARY Q - My DBIL's DSIL also hates veggies, and simply refuses to eat them. In his mid-fifties he had to have 51 polyps removed. The doctor told him if he didn't start eating veggies colon cancer was a real possibility for his future. So - get those veggies down! Lots of salads, veggies roasted with seasonings you like, smoothies, soups, shredded and hidden in meatloaf, casseroles, etc., V8 juice. even V8 in beer (called red beer). Except beets. You don't have to eat beets. NO ONE has to eat beets! This has been a PSA.
FLO - what a special, wonderful quilt for your DH! And a real nod to his career in law enforcement. Can't wait to see a photo of this!
LYN - thanks for that recipe link! I love dishes like this. PJ's on a sunny porch sounds delightful. Get your Vit D the natural way! Sorry you had to go buy more hardware. But that is the quickest way to find what is lost. Of course, you can't just buy new - you have to actually open the package and use the new items for this theory to work!
CHRISS - nope, the kids aren't home yet. They toured the Oregon Coast and Northern CA down to Sonoma and are in Sacramento today for a wedding. They will shoot home from there - about 1800 miles. Autumn has a board meeting at work that she HAS to attend on Wed or Thursday. Amara probably was sick because of too many hours in her car seat, so I'm glad I'm not traveling with them this week! Her mama always was car sick if she rode in the back seat. But back to your "hole in the wall", it's good to have a plan B. And you could pull up cabinetry on line and look for ideas we might not have thought of yet.
LORI - I was telling my chiropractor about Jack. He offers laser treatments and said vets used to bring their 'patients' to him all the time for laser treatments and now they are fairly common in animal hospitals. He hopes Jack benefits from his treatments. Me, too!
Yesterday Bill brought out 7 totes of Christmas stuff for me to sort through. And nope - I ended up not purging any of it! But I'm not putting much of it out either. But I did get it all repacked, totes clearly labeled, and he tucked it all back into our storage place under the stairs. I don't want to have to put it all away again right about surgery time (end of Dec or beginning of Jan). This weekend, I'm bringing out my Christmas dishes. As to sewing, I recut the pieces for the truck in my table runner and remade those parts (the tires) that I messed up a few days ago. As I suspected, it was operator error. I'll work a little more on that project today. Also today is a trip to Costco We haven't been for nearly a month and it's always fun to see what jumps into our cart. For supper I think we'll grill a small steak and winter veggies out on the deck and fries in the air fryer.
Have a great Saturday!

Re: Saturday November 8
Good Morning, Val you sure are earning reward points for doing all you do.
I was up doing laundry early I am trying to get as much done as I can because we have 4 yes 4 hocley games today. I will probably stay for at least 2 of them. Liams season will start today woth a 4 game scrimmage. I hope they do well...it is his last year for hockey.
I am moving along with the t shirt quilt. I will probably put some larger jerseys on the back of the quilt. along with the backing...I have about 20 blocks fused and cut to size. My friend has called a few times about her quilt but she will do fine,,,We may go to another quilt shop about a half hour away to see about backing fabric for her ( fishing) and mine hockey. it always involves lunch,
Laundry is going, I am trying to get it done before I have to leave The games start at 1 and do not quit till after 5.
Yesterday was such fun at the Hallmark Store...I got the dancing snowmen one for me and one for DD, I also bought a lot of cards for the coming year, as a VIP shopper I also got a great gift basket, It was a good sized basket with a Christmas tree candle, a fleece throw, a keepsake ornament, and going over the spending limit ($150) earned me a beautiful glass candy dish also. I picked up a few gifts for Christmas, All in All it was a fun experience and certainly got me into the Christmas spirit.
Well thats it or me the dryer is ready to chirp its finish song, Hope you all have a great day,,,the weather people are threatening snow for today but so far it is just cloudy and cold...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!
Looking to be a beautiful day here. A not to cold day. Just medium!
Nothing on the docket either. So I'll just fuss around a bit, watch BYU play early today. Sew a bit in the Batt Cave too.
Mr G is reminding me of a bunch of different phrases about not being dead. Like, not looking up and seeing the roots, and instead, looking down at the flowers.
Well, time to get dressed, make breakfast and ready the roosters for Daniel. Yes, these roosters have attitude! I also cut, and painted 4 cats from wood. One, the family all say is a self portrait, of me, with attitude. Me, attitude?,
Hugs,
Jana

Maryz I think the shop you're referring to was The Quilted Dragon. That has been closed for quite awhile. There have been several small ones open but none have been successful. This one is called A Touch of Alaska. The owner is from Alaska. We will see if she can make a go of it. I hope so.

JANA - attitude? You?? Whatever could they mean???
We are off to Costco as soon as my IBU kicks in. Can't believe I'm excited to go to Costco!

Good morning Girls
Happy Saturday! Ok, supposedly Saturday is chore day, but I did a quickie cleanup yesterday and I'm calling it good for now! We'll worry about the floors next weekend. I have other fun stuff I would rather be doing today!
Valerie.... Local Drugstores used to carry ostomy supplies--- or had access to them, but not so much any more. If you go to a Walmart Pharmacy they may have some, but I'm thinking your best bet might be to try a local Medical supply store. Be sure to ask if they are "Medicare Providers" otherwise they will not be able to bill the supplies to Medicare for you. I would guess that most medical supply stores will be providers. There's mail order places too and they may be able to set up an automatic deal where they send stuff to Tony on a regular basis. I should ask my DB-David how he gets his. I'm so excited for you to be able to go home.... You haven't been home much since you were here!!! OH I hope your new Alaska Quilt shop does well... maybe she will import some of the beautiful batiks they have up there!! And the Barbara LaValle fabric!!
Maryz... Oh I eat veggies---lettuce, celery, onion, carrots, tomatoes (tho technically a fruit) It's just the weird stuff like broccoli, peas, asparagus and cauliflower that I won't touch. Not going near a beet either!! Tho I remember how much my mom loved them and would eat them right out of the can!! LOVE V-8 juice!! Red Beer was always a thing for my Dad on Sunday mornings after church when he'd prepare the brunch! I'll skip the beer thanks.! How convenient that you Christmas stuff is under the steps!!! I'm sure it will be a while before I get my stuff down from the rafters!! ----when hunting season is over!!
Judi.... Sure wish you lived closer.... I'd take you to the fabric warehouse... I bet you could find some fishing and hockey fabric there!!! Did you ever get to the SR Harris warehouse when Colleen lived in MN? Glad you scored your Snowmen!!! gotta love the little song the dryer plays when it's done.... better than the LOUD buzz my old one made... though I think I should write some words to it so I can sing along!
Jana... Gotta love those "nothing" day! No place to go, nothing that HAS to be done, just do what ever the mood strikes!
Chriss..... How did you do at Bingo? I think I've actually played Bingo once in my adult life. The Local Legion had a "purse bingo" one Sunday afternoon so I went with Kris--- I did win one!! I did give it to Kris as was more definitely her style than mine. I don't carry a big purse anymore---too darn heavy! (Ordered my sink from HD yesterday--free deliver next week! I'm getting excited)
Lori... Hope you and Jack both do really well with the laser treatments. I wonder if laser treatments work on just plain old aches and pains!!
Just hanging out here this morning, Viv may come over for a visit or I'll go over there for supper later. Am debating about going down to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving this year. It's always a good time there, but a lot will depend on the weather forecast as I do not drive if there is a FLAKE of snow in the air. Between Viv's house and mine the weather can be completely different----nice and sunny down there and a snow storm up here! So will make a decision just before it's time to go. Nothing in the way snow coming up in the next 7 days... but this IS Minnesota and things can change in a blink!
Time for more coffee!!!! Wishing you all a Super Saturday

Re: Saturday November 8
Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today. I know it got cold last night. I set my heat at 64 (no clue why I picked 64 and not 65) and the heat was on when I woke up. I am grateful for heat and for A/C
Last night we went to Bingo, I won $75. It was fun and I hadn't won in so long, I was due. It costs $20 to play.
The parents are supposed to come up today. Dad will work on putting a shelf in my oven hole. He will need to move the electrical outlet as well.
Lori, so glad you are improving. Hope Jack improves too
Valerie, Glad you are finding quilt shops as you take rides. We have the same trouble here with IHHS. Tony is probably frustrated and anxious because you will be leaving soon and he will have to do this on his own, You are his crutch. Once he starts accomplishing tasks on his own he will get more confidence.
Maryz, how nice that the kids got to go up the coast on their way home. It's such a beautiful drive. I guess foryou it's down the coast, for me it's up the coast, but eventually we will meet in the middle. I used to get car sick all the time. Once it was bad enough that we had to stop at a store and get me some clean clothes. I've been looking at kitchen ideas for months. I've used Pinterest, AI, and other sites to get ideas. And I'm still looking. I don't need a fancy kitchen, just a kitchen that works.
Judi, today will be a long and fun day for you. Are the games back to back and all at the same rink? I googled it and the nearest hallmark store is almost 2 hours from me. But I did look online at their ornaments.
Jana, happy putzing day.
Maryq, I think you will like that sink, I love mine. I bought some SS polish but haven't used it yet. I just wipe the sink dry each time to avoid water stains. My grandma did the same with her sink and it stayed pretty. I bought a towel rack thing and dad attached it to the inside of the cupboard door under my sink to hang my towels on. I'm so excited for you, countertops and a new sink. It's good to be you. I'm not a big purse person either, If I didn't need to carry keys, a phone and a wallet I wouln't even need a purse. I also wouldn't drive in the snow. It's like we are twins.
I'm going to go get dressed and start my day. Dinner will be whatever I find in the fridge, probably a sandwich or a salad.
You all have a groovy day,
Chriss

Valerie, hope you had a nice day no matter the direction you chose.
Maryz, I too am getting laser treatments on my shoulder. They help one of our dogs years ago. Sounds like the kids are making the most of their trip. We never go to Costco on the weekend. It's crazy enough during the week.
Chriss, WooHoo...big winner. How's the self coming along? I'm sure your dad will make it perfect for you.
Maryq, hope your weather stay good so you can enjoy Thanksgiving with the fam. I don't think I would want to drive in snow either.
Judi, how was all the hockey? 4 games seems like a lot. I bet they are really tired at the end of the day. Sounds like you had a fun time at Hallmark. I used to love their Christmas weekend about this time of year.
I've been getting some boxes marked Christmas down from the rafters and going though them the last few days. There's a lot of stuff that's been up there for years. I did find a couple of cute tea cups that I brought home. Most of it will go to Goodwill or the estate sale. And some of it is just trash.
I think there are some more painting up there as well. It's very dusty, so I do it in the morning before I shower. Dinner will be grilled chicken and mashed potatoes. I need some comfort food since Bill decided to share his cold with me.
Have a fabulous day.
