Starting off with a cool but clear temperature. Feels good after so long of heat, humid and rainy days.
As usual I've been trying to get ufo's under control but they keep on growing in the dark at night.
Hubby and I are doing well and I hope everyone is enjoying the start of fall. This year seems to go by to fast. Thanksgiving is right around the corner with Christmas fast behind it.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Diane

Then I finished quilting the table runner, Today the binding and that will be done. I might just start quilting the KTVC and get that project done. I do have to start the t shirt quilt next,,,So always something in the wings,,,Good thing I enjoy it,,,
Ken got a lot done yesterday, Repaired a broken chain saw so some scrub trees can be dealt with He also got the leaf vacuum going so we can get some of these leaves up. ( it runs behind the tractor sucking up the leaves as it goes) We got the porch closed for the winter,,( got all the summer plants gone , the herb garden gone, and all the knick knacks stowed away. we have a few little chores done for the year, I need to start the downstairs windows but this week will be very busy, There is something on my callender everyday but wednesday, Ken says he will be home all week,,,but then again he might get a call.

Good morning,

We had a wild storm last night - not so wild as most parts of the country see, but wild enough for people who live under a HUGE rotting tree leaning over the house. But it didn't come down. Yet. Though now the dry ground is saturated . . . The owner - an absentee landlord - has refused to acknowledge our letters, our registered letters, our attorney's registered letters, and the two official arborists' reports, one of whom is the official city arborist. So - we just sit and wait for that tree to fall one winter and hope we're not in the house when it happens.

LORI - I hope you had a very nice birthday, had your very favorite cake, and received a very special, dare I say furry, little present! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚πŸˆβ€β¬› Seems like last year you either spent your birthday with your friend in AZ or you came home from AZ just before your birthday.

LOIS - how far did you get on Flamingo?

JANA - that sounds like a great way to plant bulbs! Have a young man do the grunt work for you!! I love spring flowers but gave up planting the bulbs years ago when my back gave out. And the squirrels have dug up and eaten most of my tulips. The daffodils are poisonous, so they leave them alone, but still, most of my daffodils are gone now. Oh, poor Gracie! I bet it hurt, even if she didn't cry. I had a similar fracture on my 16th birthday, the first (and last!) time I went roller skating. The doctor called it a greenstick fracture. Sounds like a green willow stick fracture to me! :D

LYN - Look at us - weather twins! Though it sounds like we might ALL be weather twins this week. Smart move to hire your painting done with your vaulted ceilings. We have them, too, in our living room - 15 feet high. And our stairwell runs from the top of that 15 feet to the bottom of the lower story of our split level. That is definitely a job for the pros! But maybe that will be next year's project. Glad you got a lazy day. You've been running helter skelter for weeks! I think you need a whole lazy week!

DIANE - good news that you two are doing well. How are your lymph nodes doing? Have you started PT yet? And I do think UFO's multiply during the night. Good luck with those!

CHRISS - I have to ask, since you are on a lifting limit, how do you get Moose Dog into the bathtub? Just curious. A tuxedo cake from Costco is a very nice dessert to take to your friends. And yes, Amara did bring her rain boots and a little slicker. But there is no puddle splashing in this wind because we live in thick foresty woods. Maybe today she can go out today with her parents or Pop. Yesterday Bill became Poppy, so we'll see what interesting names she might come up for us other than Nonnie & Pop which is what the boys call us.

MARY Q - you are right - it is so much fun to hear little feet running through the house again! The last little feet through here are now big 28 yr old clod-hoppers! She does chatter a lot and we catch about 15% of what she is saying. Yesterday she wanted a tea party. And pointed to my curio cabinet where I have a small collection of tiny tea sets. But one of them is plastic with Sylvester on them (a gift from the grandsons), so we had a tea party yesterday. But after a while she wanted the very pretty china tea set. After some thought about that, I figured why not! It's sat in there for many years. So what if it gets broken. It's not really precious. So we drank our tea in style! And it didn't get broken! BTW, my parents saved, and now I have, my grandparents tax returns and cancelled checks from 90 years ago. Also, their farm records and journals. "100# Chicken feed - $1.25" - it's family history now.

JUDI - Gosh, your day and week sounds buys, busy busy! Seems you were just having 80-deg weather and now frost!? Where has the year gone? I don't decorate much for anything but Christmas either. When we're home for the holidays, I pull out all the stops! And even in our trailer, I put out quite a bit, including a 4' tree. At home I have one full tote for "Americana" decorations and another single tote full of all the other holiday stuff. So have fun pulling out your Christmas stuff! It's the best time of year!

Yesterday we had tea parties, ran little cars all around the house, and decorated the tree. Amara didn't actually put any ornaments on, but she found two little bell ornaments and she was off and running around the living room, ringing in the holiday! So she had fun. Until evening time came. She's had quite a time - lots of car travel, different places to sleep every night, two time zone changes. So we had a bit of a meltdown about supper time. I wasn't surprised. It was overdue.

Sewing-wise, I did nothing with my usual stuff. But David delivered a 50# bag of corn to us so we filled all the heat packs I made and then I stitched them closed. Now I'll start on pillowcases for each of them. I also mended Antonio's pants but when I tried to use my overlock stitch, my machine would only straight stitch. It wouldn't do zig zag or any other decorative stitch. I'm thinking it might have to go back to the shop again. I had it cleaned in July or Aug, then sent it back for a repair of something - can't remember what. And now this. Grrr...it's only 8 yrs old. But I'm going to give it a chance to resolve itself. I'm too busy right now to give it that chance though. It's always possible that it's operator error - the operator being a bit foggy on pain meds. :?

This morning I have a button to sew on for Autumn. The kids have been trying to just rest and get their laundry caught up and their car cleaned out. The supper plan is soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Is anyone doing Christmas sewing this year? Other than the llama quilt I made for Amara last summer (and she is going to receive today) I've done none this year.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Good morning!

The heat is on! Remember that song? So the house is warming up. Haven't seen the sun yet, as the clouds are in the way. Snow is predicted for my house today.

Ethan may, after church , help put more bulbs in the ground. That auger really does make quick work of planting. We have about 150 more to plant. All of these are in one long bed, at the top of my great wall of Herriman, as we call it, in the backyard. Maybe 40 feet long, by 30 inches wide, on the edge of the lawn. When I have this bed filled, I work on adding bulbs in other beds around the yard, next fall. Planned naturalizing, as I call it.

I have the music for today and only one new hymn. The church is publishing a new hymnal next year. The one we currently use, was done in 1985. The church is releasing the ne hymns being added to the old ones, a few at a time, for us to use and sing. It's a big undertaking!

Sarah will be home, late this afternoon. We are keeping Ethan home from church, because of perfume smells. His asthma has been under better control this week and frankly we are all tired of Urgent care visits! Strong fragrance tends to set it off.

Gracie is doing good. Learning to be left handed! The Dr wants her to be checked by a pediatric orthopedic Dr, because the break in near a growth plate. And Gracie is growing fast! She quite tall and skinny as a rail! She's 10 now and the Dr expects that Gracie will be close to 6 ft in the next two years. I'm tall and there are tall genes in Kate's family.

So if it's snows, I'll sew, if not, I'm helping Ethan with bulbs,.

Happy Birthday Lori! Hope your day was wonderful!

Hugs,
Jana

Thank you for the birthday wishes. No I did not get a kitty. 20 years ago on my birthday is when I got Molly and Emma. Not this year. When the time is right I know. I've only been without a cat for 9 months of my adult life. So I know I will get one eventually. Right now I'm working on getting Jack better. He seems much better today. We did a little bit of a walk and he's still good. Baby steps.

Maryz, I bet you are having the best time with the A team. Melt downs are just part of a toddlers life. Not a big thing.

Jana, I don't have asthma, but strong scents can give me migraines. My mom wore a lot a perfume and sometimes I would have to come home and change after being at her house and getting hugs. A small price to pay for good hugs.

Maryz, our city tree out in front of our house was dying years ago. The city guy came out and said nothing was wrong with the tree. Clearly there was. A few weeks later the tree fell just missing our house by inches. The core was completely rotted out. No, I wasn't in AZ last year. Just home doing my thing which is the normal everyday. I not a big birthday person. I mended a pair of Bills pant using the Sashiko mend style. He said he'd wear them. It really doesn't show that much. I used a matching thread. I had intended on doing Christmas sewing, but haven't been sewing lately. There's still time.

Judi, glad you have Ken home getting things done. I still need to do some windows too. Luckily we don't have to winterize things here. It just stay the same. The coldest we get is about 38* and that's not very often.

Maryq, my parent too kept all their tax returns. I do 7 years. When I do my taxes, one goes in the shredder.

Chriss, my mom was a secretary for a few years and used to use shorthand. There are book about that. It's very different. Did you find a bed for the stinky dog?

Diane, I know what you mean about the UFO's multiplying. It happens here as well. I think I've found them all them 5 more show up.

Lois, sounds like the machine is working well. So glad you are back to quilting your tops.

Yesterday I went to the farmers market and the LQS to get a backing. Then just puttered around the house. Went up the street and watered, then came back and did some simple embroidery. We ordered in Italian for dinner. It was yummy. I need to run the vacuum today. I'm going to see what projects I have that need to be finished and make a UFO list since Diane brought that up. Dinner will be enchiladas. We haven't had those in a while.

Have a lovely day.
