Morning.
Maryq, I do not have a server. We sewed right sides together, turned then top stitched.
Yesterday I was approached by friendDebbie's, one who just passed, husband about doing a quilt for him. Debbie started a quilt for him, but passed as she barely got started. He asked my hubby if I still quilted, answer was of course... not sure when stuff will be shipped, but I will be honored.
Supposed to be a stormy day today.

Good morning.

I did get some sewing done yesterday. Put the sides on the Sunflower quilt. It will just be me now until Wednesday so hope to get it done. And then I can give it to the quilter when I go home for a few days.

So the nasogastrip tube is back in. I did talk to the doctor last night. And she believes it is an ileus, and that it should resolve on its own. I'm going to have to push him to get up and start moving around to get things working. It's not his favorite thing to do so this may be a challenge.

I also got the vegetable drawers and lower part of the refrigerator cleaned. Check the dates on everything and threw out a bunch of stuff. With just me here to eat, it won't take so many groceries. I will restock the house once he's getting ready to come home.

Hope all of you are well and able to get in your sewing time. Have a great day and I will check back later. With no Wi-Fi here the site moves pretty slow..

Good morning sunny and warm again, Ken is home so life returns to normal. at least til they cll him to go back maybe a week or so. he has a honey do list here so it might get done.
I have laundry to do. Kens and mine both so I will be in the laundry room today.
I got the quit loaded on the long arm. Didnt have th correct color of quilting thread,,,then I opened the batting package and it was too small even though the package had the correct size. So I ordered a new batt after calling the quilt shop and hobby loby and both didnt have a larger batt in stock. I think this quilt is cursed,,,
Now I will wait a week or so for the order to come. In the mean time I will get the carpets shampooed upstairs and start on the windows... we are supposed to get at least cloudy days here this week. I did manage to clean up the sewing room and put away the tools and stuff I do nhave a lot of scraps from this kit. After I cut the binding there wasnt as much as I thought, I still need to make the binding,
Today is Sophia's homecoming dance so we will go over there and see her in her finery, take a few pictures,,,after that I will stop at the market for lunch food for the week and that is my day How are you spending the weekend? XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,

Good morning,

VAL - I'm glad you took a day off to enjoy your birthday and even got in a little sewing. How is Tony doing today? Yesterday's report wasn't too positive. Yes, if he gets up and starts moving around, everything will go better. Especially the intestines. As you know, they sort of go to sleep with anesthesia and they need to be woken up.

CHRISS - I KNOW your dad would love a whole day 'off'. My brother, Gene, took care of his wife, Marge, for 2 years during the height of Covid. With no help, no full bathroom, not even a real bedroom (she couldn't do the stairs). He couldn't leave her home alone if he had to run an errand. He had to park his semi for 2 years. After vaccines became available, one of his sons would occasionally come and spend the day so Gene could get a break and take a load in his truck. (his truck is his happy place). It is a rough path your dad is traveling, and I bet he keeps most of it to himself because you have been traveling your own rough path. You two are so blessed to have each other. 💗

MARY Q - I did read that some homemade spray starches, depending on the ingredients used, can draw bugs later when items are stored. So I suppose the same would be true for homemade adhesive sprays. Plus, yeah! Let's not wasting the vodka! That would be as bad as when my DMIL used to use DFIL's beer to rinse her hair. How he used to squawk about that! 😄

LYN - did you get out of Dodge? All the way to Sundance?? Praying for good weather for you your entire trip. Hope you get to visit your friends along the way.

TINA B - enjoy those soccer games. These days go by so quickly! Love twins! I always wanted to be a twin and always wanted to have twins. Two of my brothers got twins in their families but not me. But it's great that your twins are their own little persons! And I think you got a LOT accomplished this past week! You are a busy, busy bee. But being busy keeps you youthful!

JANA - It must be interesting to be able to look across the valley and watch winter approach! Good to hear Stuart's elbow is healing well. And I'm not sure I understand Ethan's new on-line school. So where is he, physically, when he's attending on-line classes? MARY Q had great advice - make yourself up a Medication sheet - or I think you can find them on the internet and print them off. Even as a former nurse, I have to keep track of my meds. Also, be sure any meds are OK to take together. Though, by this time, I know you are on top of all that. Are you able to get in any sewing time at all? You have so many projects going on. How is JA coming along? How is the chair working out? Is Mr. Grumpypants OK with using it? And did you find a place for Grandpa's bit chair and the little one you use to display on the landing?

JUDI - things are really rolling along at your house! Ken is back home and your KTVC is on the frame! You had a productive day! I have Section #6 up on my flannel board now and will put it, and maybe #7, together today. I will be doing my borders like you did - cutting them WOF rather than LOF. My wide backing is washed and ready to go. A neutral beige Moda flannel. I got it yesterday at our little quilt shop - Sew Hip. It cost a little more than if I'd shopped on line, but I like supporting my local shop when I can. (plus it's located only a mile away and on what used to be my aunt and uncles property). I did mention quilting this quilt to Bill the other day and he sort of acknowledged that the bells and holly design he has in his Q-bot would be a good one. It's a real bummer about that batting. I wonder how many packages came out of the factory mis-labeled like that. Sorry you have to wait a week, but sounds like you have plenty to do anyway.

LORI - what a great game last night! So much better than the last two games! That Grand Slam was a beauty! I was trying to text you some fireworks but my phone said 'no, ain't doin' that!'. I think they said that Suarez had hit 4 or 5 grand slams during the season.

FLO - It IS an honor to finish that special quilt your friend, Debbie, started for her DH. I'm glad he thought to even ask you. And it will be healing for you, too, as you sew it. And fun times at your house! You are so creative with your sewing! Except for quilting, my sewing skills are so rusty I can barely sew on a button anymore. And the aromas emanating from your kitchen must be something to really enjoy! Have a fun BBQ gathering tonite! 13 people is a lot! What's on the menu?

LOIS - how are things going in your sewing room? How is your foot/ankle doing?

For a day that had no plans yesterday we got really busy! We went to chiropractor, quilt store, dog food store, drug store, UPS store, and pet store. Happily, all are within a 2 mile loop. On our way home my hair dresser called and asked if I could come in earlier, so within 5 min I was in her chair. Whew! We were home within 2 hours of when we left. After lunch Bill went to Costco and I went to sleep! In the afternoon, I put away the Costco stuff, washed veggies, and made salad for supper. Bill finished up by cooking the pasta and heating sauce I'd thawed.

Today, if my hips hold out, I want to make a vegetarian lasagna for the freezer for when the vegetarians arrive next week. And maybe something for tonite. Still thinking about that. Kitchen work is the hardest for me right now, but I'm trying to fill the freezer with ready to heat'n'eat things. I might pop a couple pork chops in the crockpot with some potatoes for tonite. And I plan to work some more on my last two sections of KTVC. Like Judi says, this is a beautiful quilt, but some of the directions are written quirkily and caused quite a bit of head scratching frustration.

Wishing everyone a nice weekend and prayers continue for all who need them. And God knows who you are.

Good morning!

I see sun peeking up, but I don't want to know how cold it is!

Sarah and Stu will be here today. They are adding a plug on the stairs for the lift. We added a plug on the landing years ago, but now need one on the opposite side too. We don't want wires strung across where someone could trip. Yes, Mr G has used it, but he still can do stairs, but with all the things he has, the lift will be a big help. Later, we'll need to add at the top of the stairs, a safety gate, in case he loses balance and falls near the stairs. As for meds, we have always had a .ist, done with a Excel spreadsheet, to help in keeping track. Mr G started that 20 years ago, at least. I now am in charge of the meds and have devised a simple system for me. We have 2 cases, that holds a week worth of his meds, in individual daily containers. I fill those up and set out each days. For my ease, I have numbered each med bottle with where it goes in the daily box. Now one of the Dr's has changed a dosage which I need to do. And added to my list. We always check with the pharmacist on interaction between meds. Sarah's DH has a cousin who's the lead pharmacist for a major hospital here, so we can always ask him a question.

Now Ethan's new school. Ethan will work from home, via computer and Zoom lectures. The lectures are online, so he can refer back as needed. Ethan will get his assignments for each class, weekly and it's then his responsibility to do them and turn everything in.. Sarah is kept informed on how he's doing The Montessori he attended, while he was little and attended in person, ran the program similarly. Ethan learned and thrived under that method. The online school now is by our local school district. The district has a physical building that the online kids can do events, field trips, etc, together. It's done with very small groups. The orchestra Ethan plays in, is very prestigious and the school district is very happy to give Ethan credit in his grades for that. As to math, science, etc, we have many tutors available and willing to help. Matt, Sandee, Sarah and a former Montessori teacher. He'll do quite wall! And Ethan has so many friends, that social ability is good too!

Sewing is slow, but getting some attention. Sarah has designed our new baby's quilt. Sarah is taking patterns from Lori Holt and a embroidery program. Winnie-the-Pooh is requested, so we'll make a beehive with baby pooh characters that are embroidery and a few filler blocks. This is Sarah's quilt and grandma is still working on mine. Also a bunch of receiving blankets with a crocheted edge. The new little already has quite a wardrobe. I saved the outfit that Aaron was blessed in, aka, christened , for this little one. It's white and Aaron only wore it once, looks brand new! LOL.

My Highlander hatch acted up at Costco last night. Stuck open and wouldn't shut. Daniel and Sarah came and fixed it. But this is second or third time, so will need to take the Highlander to the dealership.

Time to get dressed,

Hugs,
Jana

Good Fall Morning to you All

Looks like a perfect day for a wedding!! My Sister's daughter Erin (I'm her Godmother) is getting married this afternoon! Can you imagine how pretty pictures will be with the leaves changing to their beautiful fall colors! I hope they are able to take some pretty pictures outside! It looks to be a lovely day with no rain in the forecast. I don't think the wedding itself is outside, but the trees would sure make a pretty background! The venue is about an hour away from me, so I'll hitch a ride with Shawn and Kris.

Flo... What an honor, to be asked to finish a quilt for a friend. I wish there was a way to actually measure how much love would go into a quilt like that but, but I just know that that quilt will be full. If you would like an embroidered label for it, let me know, I'd be happy to help out.

Valerie... On the wall above my desk, I have a post it note with QIAD birthdays... I see it every time I sit here to type a post. Can you picture my space after being here? Anyway... I looked at it every day and thought "I have to remember to wish Val a happy birthday." And what did I do.... I totally forgot. I hope that you were able to sit and sew for a bit, have some cake, relax and have all the fun things on your birthday! Happy Belated Birthday. I always heard you don't get out of the hospital until you can pee & Poop.. Hope that Tony will get "things" moving so that he can head home soon!

Judi... Sophie is going to Homecoming Dance? Isn't she the little girl we saw in a snowsuit---and now she's going to a dance? At her school is it a semi-formal thing? Does she have a date or going with a bunch of friends? And yes, sad to tell you, there is no Secret Santa this year. I wrestled with it for a long time and then decided to take a break. It's not that it's "work" because it was always fun to do, but there just seems to be so few of left that want to/able to participate. And with postage getting so expensive etc. I thought we'd would take a year off and reassess next year. I have many of the addresses for everybody and could set up a Card Exchange if we wanted to do that! Happy for you that Ken is home for while--even tho it means more laundry for you.

Maryz.... Oh yes, you definitely do not want to waste a beer on your hair, unless it's the cheapest nastier beer you can find. I think I asked my Dad once if I could "borrow" a beer and if I remember correctly his answer was "oh heck, no!" Oh Gosh, I forgot about your kids being vegetarians!! Will you be able to introduce some meat, ie: chicken or beef or pork to Amara? You did have a busy day, but I bet it felt good to get all of that done!

Chriss... I can only imagine what your Dad has to deal with on a daily basis. I hope he takes time to take care of himself. Once in a while my neighbor Peggy will text me that she needs a break and she will walk over for coffee. She did find and "adult day care" place for Gary to go to a couple times a week and I think that's been a really blessing for her. And she and another neighbor go support group meetings every so often and really enjoy it. I do think that women are more likely to actually ask for help and support. I know Peggy was even thinking looking at facilities in the area for when the time comes. She can leave Gary for a little while if she has to run up to the store, but if it's too long her DD comes to stay--or her grandkids. I did get that book Maryz suggested for her and she seems to be enjoying it.

Well, it's after 10am and I'm still in jammies. I have a few light chores to do this morning, so I just might stay in jammies until I have to take my shower to go to the wedding. Both my boys will be there so I hope I can get some good pictures--maybe I'll share one or two so you can see who I talk about all the time!! Most of my siblings will there too!

Wishing you all wonderful fall day!

We did get out of Dodge yesterday, not as early as I wanted but I got everything done that I felt needed doing. We rolled into the campground at Lamar at 6:15, sunset was 6:09. Luckily they put us in an easy spot to park at dusk, straight west of the entrance, on the east side of the row. (That will only be understood by MaryZ)

Thank you all for the travel prayers and wishes. I can sure use them.

Flo, I think it's a wonderful thing for you to finish that quilt for Debbie's hubby. You are a good friend.

Valerie, Happy Birthday +1. By the time I read posts, it was too late to text Birthday wishes.

Lois, I like Murder She Wrote, in the evening. Mornings I have a cup or 2 of coffee and then hit the ground charged. Lately I have been watching Fleamarket Flip in the evening after DH goes to bed.. It's relaxing to me.

Chriss, I fixed Marie Callendar Turkey Pot Pies for dinner and saw that they said not to use a microwave less than 1100 w. The MH is only 975 w. I cooked them at the top time and they did get to 165°. Maybe you don't want lots of features but wattage seems very important.
690 miles from Lamar to our house, by the route we are taking.

As I noted, we didn't get down the Mtn as early as I hoped, but I got everything done and house closed up. At the last minute I had room for a box that I put a small jewelry box, my grandma's pink cookie jar and the fondue pot in. Half way down the Mtn I remembered I wanted to put the fondue cookbook in too. Oh well, maybe I can get Kaylyn to bring it to Texas. I know exactly where it is in the cabinet. The Jeep is full.

We'll go to Amarillo today and have dinner with friends that now live there. They are still going to the coast this winter and will stop at our house in November and spend a night or two. They travel in a pull behind trailer these days. I better get a move on. It's just over 200 miles, but I have tanks to dump and need more water on board.

Have a blest day.
Lyn

Good morning. It's going to be a great day today. There are two birds outside who think they each own my yard and all the breakfast findings in it. They squabble each morning. To me they look like mockingbirds but I'm not sure if they are

This morning my sneezer has been working overtime, guess I need to dust and do something about the dog hair. dang dog, he's so lucky I like him.

Flo, it will be nice of you to finish up the quilt your friend started. Do you already know the pattern?

Valerie, getting moving is a task for sure. If I didn't have to go to rehab I probably would be less active. I think, because it's a set appointment, it makes me go, if it were a gym membership or exercise equipment in my house I could put it off. I'm thankful that I HAVE to go. Enjoy your you days.

Judi, I bet Sophia will be stunning for homecoming. Glad Ken is home, if you shut the ringer off on the phone they won't be able to call him. I think when you finish that quilt the curse will be broken and it will just be gorgeous.

Maryz, there was a lot of busy in your yesterday. Do you use lasagna noodles in your veggie lasagna? I tried making it with zucchini but wasn't thrilled. It was ok but zucchini holds a lot of water. How is your new hair do? Do you love it.

Jana, I wish I had saved Richards Christening outfit, it was also white and he only wore it once, Not sure what even happened to it. The pooh quilt sounds cute. I was wondering about the stair chair. Is there a grab bar at each end of the stairs to help with standing and sitting? I have to say I would love just one ride both up and down to check it out.

Maryq, what fun to go to a wedding. I couldn't tell you the last time I went to one. I agree, Judi's Sophia shouldn't be old enough to go to dances. I remember that snowsuit picture, and the picture of her sitting on the counter top helping with bread making.

Lyn, I will check for more watts, I was thinking over a thousand, and a little inside room, but nothing like air fryers or convection ovens, just a microwave. Do you know I have never had fondu. Safe and uneventful travels to you.

Time to hit the showers and have some breakfast. I'll get a few things done around here before the parents show up. Judy will look in my freezer about 10 times and mention that I don't have any ice cream, So I might have to take her out for ice cream again today.

Dinner, heaven only knows. I don't have a kitchen yet so will likely have a sandwich. I was just thinking pancakes would make a good breakfast but don't have the stove hooked up yet. ugh. It will all get done and when it is done I will love it, in the meantime I wait.

You all have a superb day,
Chriss

Chriss, the birds are probably brother and sister fighting over things. What is left in you kitchen to make it useable?

Lyn, glad you were able to get going yesterday. Now only a few days until TX house and sewing shed. Seems like even if you plan to take things you always forget something. That's me most of the time.

Maryq, have a fun time at the wedding. Nice that you get to spend time with the boys as well. I bet the fall colors are fabulous.

Flo, that is a great way to honor your friend. Nice that her husband thought of you to do it.

Jana, glad there are good alternatives for Ethan. I'm sure he'll do well with all of your support.

Maryz, The game last night was way better. Hope they can win one more. I can imagine standing at the kitchen counters is hard on your hips. I always wondered how cashiers could stand at the register all day long. That's got to be had on your legs and feet. Glad Bill helped you out with dinner.

Judi, I bet it's nice to have Ken home for a bit. Or is it? Oh no, a cursed quilt! Wonder how the quilting part will go. I bet Sophia will be lovely in her gown.

Jacks left leg is still bothering him. We walked 2 houses down and back. He's on an anti inflammatory so hopefully that will help. I miss my happy dog. He's just not feeling good because of his leg. I'll get the sewing room cleaned up today and work on a puzzle I put out yesterday. Don't know what's for dinner just yet.

Have a lovely day.
