MONDAY, September 1st

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Sep 01, 2025 5:49 am

Good morning and happy September!

JOAN - you have a lot going on before you leave on your vacation. Homemade salsa and spaghetti sauce sounds pretty tasty to me!

JUDI - if I lived closer to you, you might find me at that cabin in Northern Michigan! Surprise! I'd bring the wine!

MARY Q - we were talking a month ago about you waiting until Labor Day sales to go dishwasher shopping and then suddenly it's Labor Day weekend and it occurred to me that furniture is on sale, too! So we did some shopping ourselves. And I completely forgot to ask you if you were looking at dishwashers. So - did you?

CHRISS - you are now 4 days post-op! Yay you!! I have to tell you, you are my hero for how you've handled your entire situation with grace and courage. Have they started to talk about going home yet? Is the pain starting to ease up? When it comes time for Scar Show 'n' Tell, you will win first prize for sure!

VAL - Thursday is coming up fast! And yes, we plan to take our trip next year, hopefully. Fingers crossed. Though if I have all the surgeries the doctors suggest I have I might be busy next year, too. But I'm not having any surgeries until at least one dr does an actual physical exam. So far they've just looked at XRs and MRI. So, I'm going to do my traveling vicariously through you, if you don't mind me "tagging along".

TINA - Elijah is a cutie! How old is he now? He seems to be quite the ladies' boy! Have fun at the reunion. I think you said once about 100 attend your family reunions.

JANA - glad you are getting a start on your JA quilt. Your and Sarah's kits seem different as you describe them. Are the fabrics the same? I wish one of my girls quilted or even sewed. But it's not their thing. You and Sarah have so much fun! It would be a dream come true if the A-Team would come home for Christmas, especially since the other kids are here. I haven't had my family of 11 all together in 14 years - my 60th birthday.

LOIS - those dancing flamingos are pretty cute! They've got fun attitude!

Yesterday I did 2 loads of laundry, did a little bit of grocery shopping, worked on my CW's, and napped. Then we went to friends for HH. L&L went along. My back and rib pain has been getting worse and worse, especially at night, so I have an appt at Urgent Care this afternoon. I hate ER's (especially on holiday weekends!). I'll see what U.C. has to say. In the meantime, I"m kind of laying low. Maybe a nap will happen. I've had very little sleep in the last 10 days and I'm really tired. I was thinking of making a chicken noodle casserole for supper. Comfort food.

It's time for another cup of coffee here. Enjoy your holiday, whatever you are doing today. Did you know it's National Embroidery Day? Someone should embroider that on a pillow!

Good morning I ws up at 630 today Ken was up at 6,,,we cannot seem to sleep later even ion the weekends, Happy September to all
Maryz if you showed up at the cabin there i an extra bedroom and plenty of quiet there. Except fr the waves crashing on the lake shore...( soothed the soul) Im sorry your in so much pain,,,Sounds more like and inflammatory thing going on that a bone thing, but my back hurt and it was my knee throwing my gait off. I sure hope you can get a REAl Dr appt soon.
I got up this morning and cleaned up the kitchen ( somehow at night the kitchen gremlims make a mess,,,,I have addressed my concerns with management. I put a loaf of bread on to rise and emptied the dishwasher seems management has found that dishes go in the sink if the dishwasher is full of clean dishes, no other option...
I will put a big pan of scalloped potatoes on to bake to take over my sons this afternoon. We go there at about 130...lots of good food to be had there,
On the quilting front i have one more candy cane block to do...This block had worked my seam ripper skills well...I will be glad when this one is done...luckily she gives lots of wiggle room and squaring up the blocks make them come out cute..but 8 blocks did test my patients,
Well thats all folks...Hope Chris is doing well should be talking about her next big step...home or rehab center or dads house...prayers it all turns out well...
Prayers for all others,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!

Beautiful morning here. Almost sitting out on my deck, I'm right at the door that leads to my deck from my bedroom, but the sun is glaring too much to see out there. There are two ways to the deck, the great room and my bedroom.

Nothing much here. A couple of uglies and then I can play in the Batt Cave with my JA. Yes, our fabrics for the jA are exactly the same. The LQS that made up Sarah's kit, packaged her kit in a much nicer fashion. I ordered mine from a shop on the internet.. our LQS here is owned by the Aunt of one of Sarah's very good friends. So we try to shop there as much as we can, to support that LQS. It's a great shop and carries a great selection of counted cross stitch, patterns and supplies, which Sarah always has several going at the same time. It's a very dangerous store. And the Riley Blake warehouse has moved and increased in size and is in sight of Ethan's cello lessons. Thank goodness, the warehouse sales are wholesale license only! I could get in so much trouble while Ethan was at his lesson!

Chriss - won't be long until you're sprung! I remember all the happening when Mr G went through his heart procedure. Hang in there!

Maryz - oh how I hope UC can help. New furniture is great! We're leaning that way too. But I'm so not in the mood to go look, sales or no sales!

Well, if I get going, the sooner I'll be done.

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Good morning Girls

Oh My Gosh! September!!! You know what that means... in the blink of an eye it will be Christmas (sorry)

Maryz... Back when my d/w crapped out you suggested waiting and watching for Labor Day Sales for a good deal!! Who knew that it would come this fast!!! I did stop at Home Depot yesterday and snagged a good deal on a Whirlpool one---sale ended yesterday!!! It will be delivered this Saturday and may sit in my garage until Shawn and Kris have time to come and put it in for me. As I was cleaning up things in my bathtub closet yesterday, I came across your Christmas swap blocks--I will send them out to you tomorrow!! I almost forgot about them, I bet you did too! Let me know what they say at Urgent Care.

Flo..... Chili dogs? A perfect Labor Day Picnic supper!! Do you cook the dogs on the grill? I like my hot dog burned please!

Lois... Have you seen the "Mother Cluckers" Block of the month at Fat Cat? Oh my gosh, another darling project!! Except now I'm out of Heat & Bond!!! Maybe I'll put a bolt of that on my Christmas Wish List!!

Judi... What a wonder vacation you have planned!! I bet it will be gorgeous up north. Will you drag Ken to any LQSs? Or will it be one of those trips where you sit and watch the lake with a good book and maybe some hand work?

Jana.... One of my favorite things at my old house, was sitting out on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee --- not to early tho. Or in the evening if the mosquitos weren't too bad!! Once in a while I'll sit on the patio with a cup of coffee--If Peggy across the way sees me, she'll come join me! I have wonderful neighbors!

Chriss... In case you peek in today... have been thinking of you non stop and hope you are feeling a little better every day. Any word when they are going to let you go home?

Ran my errands yesterday and got the Amazon returns done. I had ordered a bunch of new door knobs and none of them worked in my old dumb doors. But on the way home I stopped at HD and bought a couple to try and I actually got them to work!!! Ordered the new dishwasher--I'd almost forgotten about it as I've kind of gotten used to washing dishes by hand. When I got home I got busy trying to tidy up a few things. I have a few quilt tops stored in my bathroom closet that were laid out trying to find backings etc. Got them lined up and ready to go to Viv's later this fall. Lined up a few other things to stitch today--have a pile waiting next to the sewing machine. I got the wild hair idea to make a bunch of those 10 minute table runners for the craft fair this fall. Found some pretty Christmas fabric that I've had for ages and am happy to use it up!! While I stitch those, I'll make a few key fobs on the embroidery machine!

For now I need more coffee! Need to wash a couple of last nights dishes and them make some salad to bring to our little picnic later on this afternoon. Just the neighbors--Peggy, Gary, Connie and Katie! Kind of holiday thing!

Wishing you all a wonderful Monday

Good Morning:

Lori the picture you posted of the festival looked like fun. I sure do miss Calif. weather. Warm but never humid like it is here in the mid-west. Thanks for the update on the flamingo's.

Maryz: Sorry your vacation plans are on hold for now. Your right you will probably be ready to rock and roll by Dec.

Today we really don't have plans for the day, but dinner will be steak, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. I do have a lot the things to do before we leave. Salsa really wasn't one of them but I keep getting so many tomatoes. It's in the plans now. Tomorrow is the nuclear stress test, wish me luck. I've never been nervous for one until this one.

I think today I will try and start cleaning out my quilting room down in the basement. it's huge and so is the mess. Seems the bigger the room the bigger the mess. besides quilting machines, LA, two quilters dream tables and storage racks for material, I also have my card making things. Cricut, and everything to make greeting cards. It's going to be a big job getting it all cleaned up.

Chriss, hope your feeling better and have a date to escape. Will you be going to your Dad's or to a rehab facility, or maybe home with home help.

Happy Veterans Day to all. Freedom isn't free, I give thanks to all our Veterans,
Joan

Maryz, did they find anything new at your appointment? Not sleeping because of pain is terrible. I sure hope you can get some relief soon.

Judi, how was the BBQ? I bet your potatoes were a hit. Hope the management takes care of the problem.

Lois, ribs sound really good.

Jana, sitting outside in the quiet of the morning is always a good thing.

Maryq, glad you found a dishwasher. Now you'll have a few more minutes to sew each day.

Joan, yes, even though it's hot, it not too bad as long is you stay in the shade. The more space you have the more stuff you need to fill it with and make a mess. Hope you can get it cleaned up quickly and onto the next project.

I finished up my "BeWitched" today. Did laundry this morning and remade the bed with clean linens. Don't know what's for dinner, but thinking about tortellini.

Have a lovely evening.

Good late afternoon. A beautiful day with no afternoon shower, which doesn't happen often.

Lori, I'm not a Halloween person, but your quilt is cute.

MaryZ, I hope you got some relief at Urgent Care.

Chriss, If you pop in, miss seeing you post, but hope and pray you're healing.

I hope everyone has had a nice day.

I was at my desk, by the deck door and heard voices, so looked out and found our neighbors had come up from Greeley to check on their cabin. They had time for a short visit before driving up Fall River Rd. I thought about us taking that drive, but with the way my oxygen level is at 7,800 ft I'm not sure I want to try 12,000+, even with the little oxygen can I bought. I'm trying to do El's turn applique on the quilt I'm working on. I need to change the settings on the B570QE, so it doesn't secure stitches at both ends. I have it set so start doesn't secure, but haven't got the end to stop secure st. I have tried the 1303 st for quilting, but it still does the secure st when I use the scissors button to cut thread. I'm going to the sewing shop on Thursday for some training and answer my questions.

Dinner will be what I call beef hash, leftover roast, potatoes, carrots cut up and some gravy plus worcestershire sauce and other seasonings to spice it up a bit.
