Good morning,

Sun is shining and will be in the 80's today.
I have the last load of clothes going as I type I'm happy to report that every last bit of camping gear is put away I didn't want it to be caught in the dinning room catch all. .

Today's plan is to go to Kohl's to do 2 Amazon returns and to do a little scavenger hunt and then I might go upstairs to clean my machine and maybe start Minecraft if it doesn't get to warm.

Well that's it for now have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning,

I slept pretty well, but was wide awake at 0400. The kids think if I get up, they get to eat their breakfast, but I'm a mean mom and told them they have to wait until 0500. Oh the huffy sighs I am getting!

CHRISS - sorting out old photos is a big job. My parents had a huge carboard box full of them, too. Do you know if they are from your dad's side or your mom's? Or ??? Some of the photos of life in this area went to the historical museum as my grandparents came here 116 years ago and photographed many changes. But as I delved deeper into the box I found pictures of my great-grandparents in NY, NYC, and PA and many of their homes. A real peek into my own history. Only a few were labeled, which was unfortunate, but I managed to name most everyone by comparing the few pix that were labeled to others. Then I paid to have copies made for all my sibs & kids. And I labeled everything after that! I felt like a TV detective trying to determine who they all were. It was kind of fun. And thus my interest in genealogy was born! Elliot sounds like a brilliant little guy. When is the diaper derby? Yesterday? How did he do? I bet he earned the Golden Diaper award!

LYN - Glad the boat is nearly taken care of. Something to cross off your long list. It seems like you just were getting it out of the water. Your time in Canada is growing short. We do chuckle about our kids learning RV life the hard way. Lee has read a lot and stocked up on everything you can think of, rather than wait to see if it's something they really need. Amazon is on our doorstep nearly every day delivering something. I asked Lee if he had a little saw on board. He asked why would he need a saw. But the first trip out he found out and had to go buy one to clear his site! Second trip we said, you better fill your water tank. Nope - didn't need it. Or so they thought. But lessons learned this way are lessons better learned, I guess.

MARY Q - How is Eli? He does seem to break bones easily. Metal rods in both bones kind of makes me shudder. (Can you tell orthopedics was definitely not my thing?!) Congratulations to the new addition to your family! Yes, I think old names are coming back. MY sis has an Eleanor, and I see many Claras, Evelyns, and Henrys. Autumn has Factor V, discovered during her IVF journey. Now she takes a baby aspirin every day. I told my DSIL about it, and I also told her of my good friend in MN, who has it in her family. (that's you!) :D It was comforting to them to know they weren't alone. She was going to talk to Khloe's doctor about it. Good news is that Khloe was moved out of ICU yesterday afternoon. Our Michaels does have fabric. They've had it for about 2 or 3 years now. And for such a small selection, I think they've chosen the fabrics they offer wisely. Also, the Sew & Vac place where I have my machines serviced started selling fabrics a few years ago and upped their stock as Joanne's went under. Just wish they were closer than 15 miles away in Tacoma.

VAL - sorry that you came up short of fabric. If the store keeps records of their sales, you might be able to trace it back and see if you were shorted. Or if your credit card shows only 2.5 yds purchased. At the price of fabrics, I hate to see mistakes like that. I bought some fabric in Seaside, OR last April at 50% off. But the new person at the till accidentally charged me full price which I didn't notice until hours later. I called the store later and they credited my card. I love CW fabrics, too, but the CW we've been discussing here lately is Judi's Cathedral Windows. Check out her photos!

LORI - what Halloween quilt are you making? Inquiring minds are inquiring! I did find good stencils for Antonio's Army blanket and I used a Sharpie. It came our purrfectly! If it fades over time and washings, I'll redo it for him.

JANA - Did the boys make it home OK yesterday? I hope the computers are up and running and all is good. If I hadn't married Bill I don't know where I'd be with computers. I am a computer dunce, but his degree is in computers, and he worked for the City of Tacoma as a Network engineer. So because I haven't HAD to learn about them, I haven't. If something happens to Bill, I will be sunk. I told him I'll be tossing the computers, TVs, and phones into the hole with him!

LOIS - is life back to normal at your house again? Glad you have all the camping gear put away. I didn't realize they were camping. I thought they were moteling it. How big is your Minecraft quilt?

JUDI - your quilt is awesome! But now - what's next? I see a couple of the girls are dipping into their Vintage Christmas a wee bit early . . . . are you tempted?

Our niece, Khloe, is out of ICU. And she's pretty happy to be out of PE, too, when school starts! Silver lining. But the doctors are still trying to figure her out. Yesterday I picked up "Chip" at the sewing machine spa and dropped "Stitch" off for his turn. I have Lee's quilt finished as far as I can go until my border/backing fabric arrives. Amara's baby clothes quilt is finished, Antonio's West Point blanket is done, and a few other smaller things accomplished. Today is several little chores: make Lee's binding, shorten Sis's jammie pants, etc. And see if I have everything for my Christmas boxes for my sisters. If so, they can be wrapped, packed, and put into the trailer. Things are slowly coming together here and the decks are clearing.

I have one more comfort quilt to quilt & bind and then that, too, will be done. Do you all realize when we had a big donation push about 5 years ago, we received over 1,000 blocks, fabrics strips, bindings, and $$ from everyone here?? It's taken me a while, but I did get all those blocks squared up and put together. I matched donated backing fabric as best I could to the tops I assembled from all those blocks. The total quilts were over 50. Tina took half and I kept half. I have one last one to quilt & bind. We've given out a lot of comfort over the years. The last of the quilts (19 of them) are going to MARY Q to go to cancer patients. Good job, Ladies!!

Supper tonite will probably be burgers on the grill. We're to be mid-80's so it will be nice, eating out on the deck (though we do that every night during the summer.)

Have a super Sunday!

Good morning!

Another almost perfect day here. Just wish it would rain. Haven't heard from my boys yet. They may have changed their plans and will be home today. Aaron's days off are Mondays and Tuesdays, but Daniel has work tomorrow. And it's Karlie's first day back to school. The other grands start back next week.

Logan, who'll be 17 in September, passed training and certification to teach swimming and because of that is now the head life guard at the city rec center. Keeps him busy! He's also saving up to do a volunteer humanitarian service trip, somewhere in the world in the spring. The cost to him is about $5000. Because of school cut off dates for starting age, Logan is a junior this year.

Yesterday I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed more and got my stove cleaned. The oven is the easy part, just push a button. But the top wasn't! And I washed the large area rug in my great room. So I'm working my way up the room. Cabinets are tomorrow. Ethan is helping me by doing the stairs. When the chair lift is added, I will replace that carpet. It's the original stuff here and really needs it! Even though the party is outside, I have several friends that are coming from California who are quilters and will want to see the Batt Cave. A little mess in the Batt Cave will show a creative mind. ROFLOL! A bit of fabric here and there.

Church is a bit later. They scheduled a musical number, a piano solo and a intermediate hymn, as well as the speakers. Not enough time for all! So I'm campaigning to punt the intermediate hymn. It's not a easy one to conduct. It's Be Still My Soul. Starts on the second beat of the measure, a pain to count! And it's long to sing! Our meeting lasts a hour and we need to fit lots in that hour!

After church, I'll be 8n the Batt Cave, straightening a bit.

Hugs,
Jana

Time to get something done around here, I will bake a loaf of bread before it gets too hot. and try to decide on supper. maybe caesar salad and grilled chicken,,
4 more weeks till out trip up north,,,We are looking forward to it. Ken is working on the basement bar, he is making the upper cabinets,,and shelf. it looks really good.
Hop you all have a great day, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo

Good Morning Girls

Another hot one! UGH! I ask Alexa what the temp is every morning when I wake up. This morning at 8:30 it was 67 degrees, an hour later it's 71 degrees on the to 81! I threw a couple doors open but now I hear the AC kick in--- I don't know about you guys, but I'm ready for "sweater weather"

Lois... Boy I remember that.... hunting gear all over the living room !! DEX went deer hunting every year and when Shawn got old enough he went too! Did you find a little window AC to put in your upstairs to cool it down a little?

Maryz... Texted Jen yesterday to see how Eli was doing, but she didn't answer, I'll call today. I hesitate to call because of time difference--and they do like their naps! For a minute I thought you meant L & L come over, looking for breakfast at 0400! Then I remembered who "the kids" really are!! Nineteen quilts OMG!! I'll have to stack them in the corner somewhere until I can deliver them to the Cancer blanket team!!

Jana.... Don't you love to just push a button to clean the oven!! Though I remember cleaning my Mom's oven and I kind of liked it! It was a 1956 built in so it was "eye" level and didn't require bending!  Now I'm very happy to just lock up the oven and hit "CLEAN". Though since I don't cook much, I've only had to clean it once in the 3 years I've had this oven!

Judi.... Just think, in 4 weeks the temps will be cooler and the leaves will be turning and you'll need to pack sweaters and sweatshirts! Are you going up to the UP?

Chriss... I don't envy you that task of sorting pictures!! My Dad took a lot of SLIDE film so that was a fun task --to go through all of those. BUT there is a really great app for your phone, that will scan slides (and one for photos too) so that you can digitize them. I did that with a lot old stuff, then I put on computer and from there to a flash drive! So much easier to store one little flash drive. I did the same thing with several computer diskettes I had (remember diskettes?) The app is free to use for like 3-4 days but even a one year membership was only about $35. It was worth it to get all those photos stored electronically!

Have no real plan for the day. I did go out to the LQS in my garage and pulled out some fabric to make more aprons for the craft fair in November. I think I sold quite a few so will make more this year. Am also thinking about making a few of those "10 minute table runners". I'm just trying to think of ways to use up fabric!!!

Time to grab more coffee--then throw sheets in the drawer!!

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday!

Good morning. We should see triple digits through Tuesday the highest being 103, then a cool down in the high 90's.

So, this morning I was reading my devotions, and it said, what do you see every day and don't even think about that shows you God exists? Just then, outside my window two hummingbirds landed on some flowers and had breakfast. I do get an occasional one hummer, two was a treat.

Not sure what I will or won't get done today, I'd like to clean the bathrooms so will start there and see what happens.

Lois, my spare room is my catchall. Kind of the junk drawer of the house. Glad you got it all put away and are on your last laundry load. Nice to have the laundry caught up. Did Bill have a good time and did he catch any fish? Can you put a fan blowing out the window in your quilting room so the hot air is drawn out?

Maryz, the donation quilts were so loved by a lot of people. I have mine from when my grandma died and it is my favorite quilt. It's the perfect size and when it's cool I use it daily. I also have the ones sent to Jerry. He was so appreciative. Those quilts served their purpose for sure. I didn't realize 5 yeas had passed since we had that drive, it sure was successful. I did go through most all pictures. They were mostly from my dad's side of the family, which creates two sides. Dad's dad and Dad's mom. I have most of it figured out and put them into folders by person. What I haven't gone through is old newspapers and magazines and such that were saved for a reason but I don't know yet what thatreason is. Someday perhaps I will get to it. I also did my geneaology, which helped contribute to the pile of stuff stacked neatly in the corner of a closet. The diaper derby is Labor Day weekend during the Mariposa fair.

Jana, I hope the boys get home safely and enjoyed their trip. Happy conducting. It will be nice to have old friends from Cali attend your party. sounds like it will be a fun event.

Judi, I'm in a quilting slump too, have been for a while. I have stuff in my head to do but no oomph. Glad the bar is coming out nicely, it's going to be a great place to hang out. I'm not doing any outside work until it cools off either. but those oak leaves all over the place could sre use a good raking.

Maryq, I thought of scanning and flash driving those pictures but the reality is that they will likely end up in the dump when I die. Richard isn't interested. Kids (he's 36) just don't care about the old stuff anymore. I have a built in a cabinet oven. The circuit board went out. The plan will to be to remove it forever and figure out what to do with the hole. A microwave will go there but there is more hole than microwave and they don't make my cabinet doors anymore. Update us in Eli when you know the outcome.

I do need to go get some more chicken, I have only one package left. I love the already off the bone rotisserie chicken at Costco.

Dinner will be a bacon cheeseburger. Have a fab day,
Chriss

Maryz, it's called "Witchy Manor" from Fatquarter Shop Spooky box last year. I can't believe that big push for donations was 5 years ago. Where does the time go. Glad your niece is doing better.

Jana, I was scrubbing with you yesterday, only I was doing the BBQ grates. It took 1 1/2 hours to clean the inside of the BBQ.

Judi, sounds like the little doggies are happy to be with Grandma.

Maryq, do you make aprons for adults and children. I like to make matching for mom and kids.

Chriss, hummingbirds are fun to watch. I have flowers that they love to feast on. I sure hope you cool down. It's only been warm for a couple of days here and I'm over it.

I read over my new trust documents this morning. Oh my they are so dry. Found a couple of errors that need correcting. They I was about to go up to dads to go though some files, and I go a text from a friend asking me to come over and sew. So I did that instead. Came home had coffee with Bill and now we're watchin the Cub game. He just went to pick up our pizza for dinner.

Sleep well ladies.
