Good morning,

58* this morning on the deck. Going to low 70's. A little rain is forecast for later this week and I hope we get it because low 80's are coming back by the weekend. We are dry, dry, dry and have a few fires raging in our state.

CHRISS - today is cardiac surgeon day. The room is going to be pretty crowded with all your invisible friends crammed in there with you! πŸ’— What time is 'our' appointment? Sending prayers and best wishes with you.

LORI - that candy cane block is cute. I'm still waiting on my kit. The place I purchased it had a good price, but no patterns it turned out, though after I questioned them 3 weeks ago they said they were being shipped from their supplier by end of July. But I've not received any word that they've shipping to me yet. Starting to get worried. Scottie is doing fine and he thanks you and your boys for inquiring about him. He has a small growth on his right eye that was removed 2 years ago but it's grown back. We don't really want to put him through surgery again at age 12 so we just live with it for now. And he has arthritis all along his spine so he doesn't really want to walk much anymore. But some days I make him anyway. He is still barking at squirrels though!

MQ - Glad your party was such a nice gathering with the sibs. Do you all live in the same general area? We are spread across the country in my family. Is your DB going south this winter? Yep the beef burgandy was delicious and would fit any low/no carb diet. I added extra veggies to make it a full meal deal. Recipe says to serve over mashed potatoes or hot noodles. But you don't have to do that if you don't want to. (we wanted to. :D )

JUDI - you really get a lot done in the morning before you hit our forum! I counted some fabric squares, fed my fur-boys, sent one text, and waited impatiently for the coffee to finish brewing. Oh - and I combed my hair. Worries me a little that my hair looks better after I sleep on it that it does after I fix it each morning . . So, would you say your bar is half-finished? 3/4 finished? I'm planning to inspect it!

JANA - yay!! We don't see prices go down very often! I hope there's no catch to it. Our friends make brownie bites. For something chocolate, they aren't bad.

VAL - any word on your truck? I think ours is still a week out. They've had it almost 6 weeks now. I sure hope yours is a faster repair!

LYN - how has the weather been overall this year in Canada? Seems like you haven't been out fishing as much as usual. Are your thoughts starting to turn toward CO and ultimately TX yet?

Yesterday was house cleaning day. And laundry, sheets, towels, etc. Didn't get back with my sewing machine until after 1pm so not a lot accomplished but that's OK. No rush. Still working on the same projects. And I will be for some time yet. I have no other projects lined up since my KT VCS isn't here. Except I want to watch more videos on Cathedral Windows, decide on my method, and prep some to practice on. That pattern really fascinates me. My grandsons are planning/hoping to visit Japan later in the year. One on vacation with his partner and one to be sent by the Naval Shipyard for his job. Be funny if they are there at the same time. But - I told then if they can find, and buy, some Japanese fabrics, I will reimburse them and make them both quilts to commemorate their visits to Japan. I think CW might be a great way to showcase those beautiful fabrics. The boys say they love and treasure every quilt I've made them (and that's been quite a few!) so it's fun to sew for them.

A small crisis in my sewing room - Foxy's dish of dry food is in there on a carpeted cat tree. Right next to the doorless closet filled with shelves of fabrics. Yesterday morning Scottie got excited and started trying to wedge his fluffy self into those shelves. I knew exactly why- cat food crunchies were in there! And how did they get there? A mouse!! Oh, the irony of it!!! πŸπŸˆβ€β¬› I emptied out all the fabric, shook out the cat food, much to Scott's delight, replaced all the fabric, and Bill set a trap. I'll leave it to him to check his "trapline" later this morning. In the meantime, where to put Foxtrot's food dish?? For now it's on the dining room table. but it can't stay there. Maybe Bill's office . . . . Just a small window into life here at the Rockin' Z!

Happy Tuesday!

I typed up a post and Maryz beat me to it so I copied it to here

Good morning well I have been up dressed and took my car to the dealer and came back did a load of laundry and still no one is here, I also fed and watered the birds ,
Today is a do nothing day while I wait to hear about my car. The windshield washer quilt working ( under warrenty) I made the appointment 3 weeks ago and it was packed when I got there, very busy place, but I have bought my last 3 cars and had all my service done there they are really good and nice too.
I will do laundry and stitch and try to finish up the Cw and get them ready to add to the quilts and be done...
No word on my sister in law. Neither by text phone or facebook ( ) so we pray she is ok. We introduced her to quilting after my brother died,,to try and give her something to do with her time...she jumped in with both feet and created some of the most beautiful quilts and projects they were all very challenging and she mastered them in a short time...She joined a couple of classes and made friends with the local quilt shop group so we were happy to see her doing well . But we have never been close to this family and even less after my brother died...its been 20 yrs, but your prayers are appreciated...
Have a wonderful day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
PS More prayers needed Chrissy1 is having heart surgery tomorrow to repair a broken Mitral Valve in her heart, Apparently they will go in an artery and not open heart surgery, so that is good but stil she is scared...I will let you know when I hear from her or her daughter,,,xxxooo

JUDI - sorry I beat you to the punch this morning. If no one has posted when I start typing, I type into a blank tab, then check to see if anyone has started the thread before I post. If they have I cut and paste in my post. If they haven't, I add a date and hit submit. Everyone once in a while in the 5 seconds it takes me to do that, someone is quicker than I! Sorry you are getting no update on your SIL. How did you find out she was in the hospital? FB or did someone text/call you? If so, maybe you could reach out to that person? How is Mickey doing? And has your son gone back to work yet after his fx'd collarbone?

Good morning

Maryz those blocks are from the Vintage Christmas blocks from Kansas Troubles. Same quilt Lori is working on. They are blocks 1 and 2. Starting blocks 3 today which as the candy blocks. I have no idea when the truck might be ready. They are ordering parts and they have not determined yet what all is needed. If it's longer than 6 weeks, that will suck as we leave in 4 weeks and 2 days. We are pushing to have it done in time to get the shell on the back before we leave. It is due in by the 18th at the latest. No more word from the police and frankly, they deal with so much violence here I am not sure how much investigation they will do since no one was actually injured. We are at 8 murders already this year. About 1 a month. I feel for Scottie, it is tough to get old. Spinal arthritis is not fun but DH won't carry me everywhere so walk I must.

Chriss anxious to hear about the surgeon report. I think the cath process is the preferred method these days whenever possible. At least it's my preferred method. I actually had to ask my DH about the GF saga. What the heck! Well life goes on. Somethings you just have no control over.

Lori I think if we had a regular camera depending on how it was set up it might have shown more. We have just the camera on our ring and while it has a wide angle, it doesn't really capture their house. But you know what they say, when life hands you lemons, make lemonaide.

Maryq with any luck, I will still have $$ when I get to your place! Yes it was actually in the street right out front one house over. Though the casings were found in about a 4 house area. We do think about moving out of California but finances at this point in time DH has to work about another 2 years if possible. We still are paying some loans off and at this age (70) it would be hard to find another job. DH wants to move to SD but I am not sure I want to do that.

Jana I thought the new rule was repairs had to be given a 4 hours time slot? Maybe that is just California?

Judi I try to get things done before hitting the forum but sometimes I don't get back here when I do that. I have had my BK and coffee this morning but now need to pick up a bit. Make the bed, sew the binding on my Ryan's Sampler. Today is KT day again so will continue with the Vintage Christmas.

Guess I will get to getting, shower time and want to get this binding on the front of the quilt before I leave. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning!

The big mice, as we called them, all descended on my back yard last night. Cleaned and weeded the yard. There was Daniel stuff, Aaron stuff and Sarah stuff, which has all now migrated to its new, rightful homes. And my yard is clean! Tanner and Ethan will finish up weed whacking in the next few days. Daniel has been doing the finishing work on the deck, dressing up all the edges with trim boards. Finish work is tedious cutting and mitering edges. Some how, the last two boards he cut for the bottom treads, disappeared and we need to order just one more board. No, the boys didn't take it last night, this was known awhile ago.

Sarah and I are going out to get mulch, to dress up the flower beds. She's working 8n the morning, so it will be later.

Learned about the party- food will be BBQ and a taco bar. Aaron is smoking brisket, pork shoulder and chicken. You can have BBQ or use the meats in a taco with all the fixins for them. On the BBQ side, there's baked beans and potato salad. Dessert is goodies from a local bakery, Kneaders. We have yard games, big block Jenga and corn hole. And lots of visiting. My girls always do a great job!

Our missionary, Andrew just got transferred to a new area. This happens every so often. But this transfer had a different twist. Andrew was serving in the English speaking part of his mission , but Andrew is fluent in Spanish, so the mission president decided to put Andrew's Spanish speaking ability to use so Andrew will be speaking and serving with the Spanish speakers in Texas. Andrew is very excited to do this. So the adventure continues.

House uglies are caught up, so I will help Mr G in the Batt Cave. He was organizing some papers and the window was open, when the wind kicked up outside, blowing in said open window, and blew the organized papers, back to their unorganized state!

I'm doing quite well adjusting to my new teeth. I am getting to the point I'm not consciousness of them. Only when i see something delicious, hard and crunchy, that I can't eat, yet! It won't be long. I'm making a list of what will be the first, yummy, crunchy food I will eat. A steak, corn on the cob, heck, I love crunchy Cheetos! Anything not soft! LOL!

So I'm off, breakfast and keeping an eye on Mr G. He, for some reason, unknown to him or me, put his daily med pill box, yesterday in the dresser drawer, along with the little dish that holds his keys and his wallet, and a couple of other things right there. This is the first time he's done anything like that. Life is full of new things!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

Another delightful day in Minnesota. Still a little hazy from Canadian fires, and it might get a little warm later this afternoon 80 or so but it ain't bad! Nothing like the 90's we had a while back.

Maryz... All of my sibs are in MN, tho Greg & Carol lived in Nebraska for quite a while before Greg retired. He is 67 miles from me, David 35 miles, Tim 37 miles, Ann 31 miles and Bill is 46. All easy drives. Annie lives about 2miles from the house we grew up in. How are the hips this morning? Do you find you have good days and not-so-good days? I'm glad for you that you don't need the Losartan --being on Losartan my Dr says NO IBU and that's my favorite for aches and pains. (losartan goes through kidneys too) EEKKK a MOUSE!!!! Where was Foxy?

Judi.... Not good to not have winder shield washer working!! I should take my car in also, my rear wiper will go off randomly from time to time. No rain in sight and the back wipe starts going. I think there's a short in the wiring, but I can live with it! Hope all is well with your sister, will send some prayers and good thoughts for her and Chrissy !!!

Valerie... South Dakota ain't all bad--ok it gets cold and they do get a fair amount of snow. BUT if I remember correctly, they don't pay income tax!!! So that's a bonus and I'm sure you would find it less expensive and less violent!! Sounds like you are counting days until you hit the road... will cross fingers that everything falls into place so you can head out as planned.

Jana.... Totally forgot about your new teeth! After I got my braces off, the first thing I had was a caramel apple!!! I've had braces twice and that was my go-to after they came off! Your party sounds like it' going to be the event of the year!!

Chriss... Will be thinking of you all day and sending lots of prayers that your appointment with the surgeon answers all your questions and puts you at ease about a plan going forward.

Oh my gosh,... here it is almost 11am and I haven't done a darn thing. There are some dishes to wash, (1 plate, one bowl, one coffee cup and one wine glass--how hard can that be!!) After that I might start cutting out the fabric I have for baby boy quilt--due in December. OR I could start working on some items for the craft. Just might have to flip a coin to see which direction I go today!

But first.....more coffee!

Have a great one everybody

Good morning. What a beautiful day is starting out to be.

Plans have changed. My appointment with the surgeon has been moved to next Tuesday. In my research I stumbled on information from the Cleveland Institute and now have more study time. So, Tuesday the 12th is the new appointment date. Thankfully I feel great and am not having any symptoms, I'm doing quite well.

I never made Costco yesterday. I did go to Home Depot and Lowes, opposite ends of town. When I drove by Costco there were (no exaggeration) fifty gazillion cars there. I chose to pay whatever the cost for eggs was at the grocery store.

Lori, I like your candy cane block. The fabric is really cool, perfect for a candy cane. Moose appreciated the scratch on the head and responded with a tail wag.

Maryz, not sure if a mouse in the house is better or worse than a batch of squirrels outside. Not a fan of either. Hope the boys have fun in Japan and find fabric for you. That would be really cool. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a little rain. It would be nice to see the sky get a good cleaning.

Judi, prayers for SIL and for Chrissy too. Enjoy your do nothing but wait for the car day.

Valerie, I like your quilt blocks. Guess we will wait another week to hear my surgeon results. It was a paperwork issue. Either way, I will have to wait until the insurance approves the procedure, whatever it will be. I also hope that truck is done so it can be your chariot as you travel. Will the mechanic go through and make sure all is good like tires, brakes, transmission etc. Not sure I would want to move out of Cali, just because my family is here. If you sold your house and moved further from the coast you could probably buy a house and pay off loans and still have money in the bank. Although, if you moved to some areas you couldn't get fire insurance and there is the heat, I average about 20 days over 100 degrees each year, but it's a dry heat

Jana, glad you found the meds. so many places to stash things in a house. hope you can always find them. Funny about the papers in the wind. Imagine if you put an oscillating fan near the papers, organizing them could wind up being an all-day job. Hmmm, something crunchy. I think my go to crunchy thing would be crock pot granola. It's really just nuts with some monk fruit sweetener, but I love it. Will Andrew get to stay in the same place he is staying now or does he have to move? high five to him. The bbq sounds wonderful.

Maryq, what to take always confuses me. Ibu, Tylenol, Advil, I just don't know what is for what. I was taking Ibu but read that I should be taking tylenol because of my heart. Not sure what is true, but, because I very rarely take a pain reliever, I bought the smallest bottle of acetaminophen that I could find and it's what I have on hand. Happy baby boy quilt cutting. Do you have a pattern all picked out?

My son texted me to ask if I wanted to come see him Thursday, I told him that was a silly question that I would definitely be there. Silly boy. Elliott is entered in the diaper derby at our local fair along with his cousin. I think I will work on his crossing the finish line while I am there. Have to get my grandson in shape so he can compete with those other babies.

The plan is to do small things around here, if it were a bit cooler I'd go rake some leaves but it's already too hot for me to play outside.

Dinner tonight will be rotisserie chicken with broccoli; I'm on a broccoli kick lately.

you girls have a super duper day

Hello everyone

I have been busy I had an order for one of those big bag this lady use to work at one of the practices when my daughter was an M A.
Well to make a long story short she called my daughter about a month ago and asked if I still makes those bags so I told Sandi to call Kathy and yes I would make another the first one was for a boy now she is having a girl and wants a girly one so now that job is done and it came out nice.
With all this talk about cathedral windows I found a pattern in block book from Missouri Star and I might look at it for now while I'm relaxing for a few
Then I have to go upstairs and clean my machine along with the one down here.

In two weeks we are having a weekend away in Lancaster with Sandi and Virgil we will be visiting quilt shops and fabric stores  .

Well that's all the news from here have a great rest of the day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Maryz, Valerie's blocks are from KT Christmas sampler. I posted a completed candy cane block yesterday as well. Glad Scottie alerted you to a mouse. What the heck is Foxy been doing? Making new friends with the little rodent? Wrigley has a golf ball size growth on his right shoulder. We had it removed once, but it came right back. They checked it and it is benign. so we just leave it. I have a collection of Japanese fabric. They are a different texture and width. I have a plan for them. How exciting for the boys to be going to Japan.

Judi, funny they gave you info and then no update.

Valerie, you must be going in order. I just pick a block I like and make those. I'm going to make all the candy blocks first, then the ornaments.

Jana, glad your teeth are working out. Not eating crunchy things would be really hard. I didn't fussy cut the candy cane, it just worked out that way.

Maryq, you could make crafts and work on the baby quilt. A little of each.

Chriss, glad you are feeling good. Glad you have more time for research before your appointment. The diaper derby sounds fun. You'll get Elliott ready in no time.

Lyn, are you fishing?

Lois, nice of you to make the bag for her.

Jack and Wrigley walked me early. It's finally warming up. I had the A/C on Sunday, but yesterday wasn't as hot. Today it's supposed to get into the high 80's and keep climbing though the end of the week. So A/C will definitely be on. I'll work a bit more on the KT Christmas sampler today. I almost have all the candy cane blocks finished. We'll do a late lunch and skip dinner.

Have a lovely day.
