Good morning,

It's been a real stretch of hot 🔥 weather today will be at 87⁰ and will be getting strong storms later on today.
I got the Minecraft quilt together just have to add borders.
I have my last load of wash going and trying to help someone with his packing but I don't complain because I do this every year.

Well that's all the news from here.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.

Morning
Yesterday busy, but uneventful.
Maryz, the bear DGD got was not from DFIL shirt, but my jeans. DFIL shirt bears are going to my kids to remember their grandpa.
Today is a lot cooler, so may get yard work done.

Good morning world! Can't believe it is already the end of July. Where is this year going? We are currently at 57* but should be getting to 80*. Wind yesterday kept it a bit cooler. It seems to have calmed down.

Jana I would prefer California not fall in! That might hurt! Isn't there something special about Lake Bonneville? It sounds familiar but I can't remember why.

Chriss funny I bought Cottage Cheese after not buying it for a long time. I also bought peaches, which I am not supposed to eat but I do. The Tsunami didn't fizzle out, it just was not as bad as they predicted. We had no affect here. Creasent City had about 4 foot waves and that was the worst for CA. Hawaii I think got it a bit worse. Funny how the PO works these days.

Lori I am just torn over the issue with by BIL. I am not sure what I will do if that surgery gets scheduled in September. I already have several reservations and while they are cancelable, that is not what I want to do.

Judi Rhythm is slowing coming together though I thought I may get it done in these 3 days of sewing but that is not happening. I am getting through about 2 steps a day. I think once the blocks are all together the rest will be quicker.

Maryq so happy to hear they have batiks. Since I can't find the fabric I bought for my last AP&Q Gem tones block I may just look there. I would have bet money I bought it but can't find it anywhere. Also not sure where I put a book I bought. I am taking a class in October. Might look for my coordinating fabric for that too! DBIL aneurysm are 2 in his leg and 2 in his abdomen. He did not tell me which arteries/veins. I am thinking poplitieal maybe and abdominal aortic. I should find out.

Chriss so glad they are not lingering with your appointments. I have seen people wait months after serious diagnosis for follow up. I have not seen the new blinds. So glad you will get to brag about the grandchild this year.

Carol I have not had sloppy joes in I don't know when. That recipe sounds wonderful though with gastric issues many of that I can't eat. Wonder if I can adapt it somehow. I do have garlic and onion flavorings that I can use.

Maryz any Tsunami issues up there? While pulling out your stuff did you find my fabric and missing book? If you did I will not have to pull all the books down out of my closet. It would save me a lot of work.

So was just scrolling through FB this morning. Found the info for my 50th school reunion which I knew about but chose not to go. Turns out I am on the missing list! I am NOT missing, I am right here. I did put in a comment on another friend who passed away so they would stop looking for him but I think I am just going to stay missing. I don't use my maiden nane on FB. There is one gentleman though I may contact. We were good friends in HS. He was in Demolay and I was in Job's Daughters. We attended several events together. He is now a minister and does Weddings in the Napa Valley and he works for a Hospice. I need to find out which one.

For now, off to get breakfast, more coffe and get done what I can before I leave for open sew. Have a wonderful day.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning its 62 this morning but the smoke from the fires is bad again,,i rained all night here but it didnt get rid of the smoke like you would think/ Its almost jacket weather and such a relief..high today around 75.
I did finish my made in America quilt and Maryz posted a picture, It was kind of wrinkled since it was packed in a bag for the guild meeting, Everyone love it and thought it would make a great QOV. We already have our next veteran for this year and just have to get the quilt made, My quilt was a bit to feminine so we will go with the traditional sampler style. Each person makes a red whilte and blue 12" (12 1/2 inch before sewing) and we put them together with sashing and border. Pattern is the quilter choice but many do the Ohio Star...and churn dash are very popular,
I was up at 5 this morning couldnt sleep so up and did some filling of the needle cases with threaded needles. Then after Ken left for work I vacuumed the sewing room and hall...(Lots of threads migrate into the hall way)
I will do some hand work and try to get the CW finished , It is a throw only so not very big,,,but it is fun, and it will be another project put to bed,
I do have to go the meat market and stock up the freezer, that will be a process of packaging up the meat into serving sizes and vacuum sealing it for the freezer, i will have about 3 months worth today...tonight will be breaded pork chops mash potatoes and cucumber salad ( my sister gave me some garden cukes to use.) I have a ton of tomatoes on the vine here,,but they are mostly green...a few look to be starting to turn....soon.
Well I hope you have a great day all...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning, Everyone!

Lee & Lara left again yesterday for another 2-week stint of camping. They are about 100 miles south of us and their truck, supposedly fixed, is giving them the same trouble. So Lee is taking it into the Longview dealer today to try to figure out the issue. It only happens when they are towing so that should narrow it down a little. A good thing they are keeping fairly close to home base (our place) during this break=in phase.

LOIS - We were nearly as warm as you yesterday at 86*. Cooling to low 80's today. Do you have any special plans for yourself during the guys' mancation? Other than sewing?

JANA - right! Let the kids handle the party. They are throwing it, aren't they? Even though it's being held at your house? And you don't have to worry about a thing. It's their gift to you. You're lucky they didn't just walk you into someplace and everyone yell, "Surprise!". The history of Lake Bonneville is fascinating. Nice for you to have "lakefront" property! Whenever I hear a siren I always say a prayer for the victim/patient and another one for the first responders. They are special people!

CHRISS - sometimes I wonder about the USPS and their package routing. Yum! Pineapple! Do you know it's supposed to be one of the strongest anti-inflammatories known? But, as soon as it's cut, it needs to be stored in a glass container, not plastic or metal. Glass. The other materials destroy the anti-inflammatory properties. Fruit in cottage cheese is delicious. When fresh fruit season is over, try mandarin oranges. My favorite! And Costco sells them by the case.

LORI - it's a pain in the patootie, signing up for SS and Medicare, but once it's done, yay!!

JUDI - we use ground sirloin, too. If they stay true to their labeling, we know what we're getting. And I've made your hamburger buns a few times. They are delicious! And great if you want different sizes for kids, sliders, less "appetited people". But I never heard of an ugly CC cookie. That really isn't possible, is it?? Your quilt is lovely! I hope everyone checks out your photo!

MARY Q - We put shredded cheddar on top of our open faced sloppy joes last night. And I even added a bit of sour cream. It was a good dinner! So I'm guessing you hit the 100 mark on your pencil cases yesterday. Wish I had some zippers to share, but I only have a few and they are 14 to 20", metal, and so old they are nearly vintage. I didn't think they would work for you. I can't say for sure that the Losartan is causing my achy muscles and joints, but I didn't take it last night and feel quite a bit better already! I didn't take any IBU yesterday because I wanted to go fully symptomatic to the dr, and even without the IBU, I began to feel better in the afternoon, the further I got from my night before dose! You are going to have a fun weekend with all your sibs!

CAROL - We really enjoyed our sloppy joes last night. I made a big pot, tweaked a few of the ingredients depending on what was in the pantry/fridge, and we had enough for two nights, plus froze packets for two more nights.. Mary Q is right when she says they make good traveling meals in our trailer.

VAL - I hope your BIL's potential surgery doesn't affect your travel plans. Maybe you could talk to your BIL before his appts and give him your dates. Patients do have some choice in surgery dates. Maybe he would try to accommodate you. The trip we are planning has been on the table for more than 20 years, put off many times because my brothers, Jim & Albert, were just too sick to leave, Bill's mom, and other reasons. When people ask us our departure date we always have to add the caveat, "God willing and the creek don't rise". btw, it's set to be Sept 13th. Hope it happens. My sister is going through testing right now, too, to R/O aneurisms in her carotids. Love your Rhythm quilt.

So yesterday was doctor day and she/I decided to quit taking BP meds altogether. My BP wasn't really that high except for one stressful day. I'll monitor my BP but I am going to try taking non-odorous garlic which is supposed to keep your BP down. I have an appt in Feb for a re-check. Also, I had an hour to kill so I hit Marshall's which is next door to the dr office and did quite a bit of Christmas shopping. Since my sisters and I "do" Christmas whenever we are together during the year, I need to get it all together to take to CO. I picked up a few little things for Bill, too.

And I did a very bad thing. So the baby clothes quilt - Autumn sent me some very old worn out batting from an old comforter. But there was nothing - NOTHING - left of the outside of the comforter. I couldn't figure out why she sent it. Well, it was from Antonio's blanket from Westpoint and had his name on it. I never saw it, and after saving it for a few months, and not being able to figure out what to do with it, I threw it away. I feel AWFUL! Aut says no worries - just made it easier to 'rip off the bandaid' to get rid of it. But we Googled Westpoint blankets and saw it was really an Army green comforter. So we ordered a new one and I'll have to figure out how to get his name on it, Army style. It won't be the same, but maybe it will be better? Don't know, but I'll include a bottle of good brandy to go with to sort of soften the blow and sweeten the new deal I'm giving him.

I finally have my orthopedic appt this afternoon. The reason for the appointment has long ago been resolved, but by golly, I'm keeping it! I've waited for this appt for 3 months and I'm not giving it up. I will also work on the QOV quilt (Hero's Stars). Lots to cut here. And lots of HST's in 3 different sizes to trim. But I'm in no hurry. Dinner will be sloppy joe's 2.0.

Hope your day is awesome!

Good morning!

Yup, another hot day here, but the temps are trending downward, still in. The 90's, not bad.

Lake Bonneville - it was a huge lake, basically a large inland sea, that covered most of the western US, anciently. It was huge. The mouth of this lake, the outlet, was up in Cache Valley, near the Idaho border. It broke open, like a dam bursting, draining the lake in a catastrophic flood, that created the Snake River canyons and the Columbia River to the Pacific ocean. The water that remained couldn't drain out and became the Great Salt lake , the very salty water we have now. Lake Bonneville had different lake levels over time and you can see those levels on the mountains. Very definite lines, very visible. The one level where my house is, is called the Provo level. Just about a mile high, above sea level. Lake Bonneville covered what's commonly called the great basin area here.

So not much here. A bit of uglies and then to the BattCave.

Carol - I grew up with that brand of chili sauce. That's what I thought, when I was little, was salsa. Still see that familiar round bottle here!. My mom always said it was spicy. It's not!

So I'm off,

Do fun stuff,
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning!
Oh what a beautiful morning it is!! Windows open, nice little breeze, low humidity and just a tiny bit of Canadian smoke in the air!

Lois....I think I saw your Minecraft on our FB group! Is that one for somebody special!

Flo... Some times an uneventful day is just what you need. You've been pretty busy with all the bear-sewing and babysitting!

Valerie.... Don't you hate that! When you can't find the one piece of fabric you really want to work with! It's Murphys law that as soon as you go buy a replacement you'll find the original piece. If you love batiks.... you'll go crazy at the warehouse. I hope that everything works out for your BIL that you don't have to change your plans.

Judi.... do you have ranch dressing in the house? Katie brought me over a cucumber salad the other day --it was delicious and I'm not a huge fan of ranch dressing.. but it was the dressing, shredded cheese and chopped up fried bacon (tho I think bacon bit would work too) Super good. I usually just slice cukes with a little salt/pepper and vinegar for an afternoon snack. You American quilt is wonderful!! When you and or Diane mention QOV I keep remember that I have a box of just RWB fabric around here with all good intentions!

Maryz... Hope L & L have an easy trip ! Wonder what's up with the truck! Not that I know anything about trucks, but they got the "hauling engine" right?  If the Dr says to DC the Losartan... go for it and all the better if it decreases the aches and pains. I always say, if I wake up tomorrow and I don't hurt.... I'll know I'm dead. 99 pencil cases!! I miss counted yesterday when I was stitching them so I'll make one more today for an even 100! With a new Army blanket around him, I'm sure Antonio will forgive you---it's part of the story of the original one.

Jana... Heck yeh.... if the kids are going to continue to plan the party---let them!! I still have fond memories all my folks 50th! Their anniversary was in December 1995, but my Mom did not want anybody driving if weather conditions were nasty, so we had the party in August. And everybody that was invited came! It was so much fun and somewhere around here are some great pictures! The days before digital cameras!!

Lori... Your Christmas blocks arrived yesterday! Thank you so much for the zippers! If I don't use them this year, I'll hang on to them for next years batch. The gal I make the pencil cases for also takes them to the Honduras for a mission trips --so I may be making more for her as well.

Chriss.... Peggy and Gary have those blinds that pull down from the top in their 2nd bathroom---which is directly across from my bathroom. It's great to let light in, but still allow privacy--as for some reason they put a LARGE window in the bathroom! We do try to take a family picture when ever we are together and leave a little space where Brother Chris should be. We promised Mom before she passed that we would stay together! I love to see where my packages go! I think one you sent to me, ended up 12 miles away, then back to Minneapolis, then back out to St.Michael. I could have driven over to pick it up!!!

Threw last night's dishes in the sink to soak this morning, so guess I better go wash them up. Still haven't decided what to do about dishwasher. The part alone is $400. with taxes etc. I think I'll watch for Labor Day sales and see what happens. Washing 1 plate, 1 fork, 1 pan and 1 bowl really isn't a hardship!! Might even forget it use the dishwasher to store fabric and thread! Heck My SIL hides stuff in their d/w (but she's a hoarder big time)

Wishing you a wonderful day!

Hi Everyone,

Jana - My mom made a very similar Chili Sauce to the "Homemade" brand. It is very savory and adds a lot of flavor to the Sloppy Joes.

It is a beautiful day here today with nice bright, clear and sunny skies. The temperature is mild.

I am working on a Tossed Nine Patch. I intend it as a charity quilt.

Tonight's dinner will be Sloppy Joes. We like a nice green salad and sweet pickles with them. Yes, I make a batch and freeze into portions for dinner.

Carol
