Morning
Judi, if you have smoke from the fires, stay indoors and be careful.
Maryz, I didn't know you were also a law enforcement wife. My love and prayers to you. The case I was interviewed for was a young adult raping a teen and filming it. I honestly told Judge I couldn't hear testimony and see the video without thinking of my granddaughters.
Had fun yesterday with my sewing machine. Repaired my wallet, made 2 small rice bags for sore muscles, cut out 1 bear. As i cut each piece of bear I fuse muslin to back of each piece because shirts were very worn. Dad wore them to every gathering I remember. I will sew a few buttons on tummies, make tiny pickets with "Rex" embroidered on them, and make tiny stand alone collars to replace ribbon bows.
The last of my denim bows get mailed today to my 4 yr old granddaughters..ok she turns 4 next week.
Joe is ready to scream about shingles too!

Good morning!
Up early, as Mr G has Dr visits. 2 different Dr's, in 2 different parts of the valley. One early and one late. Sarah is handling these. One is with a neurologist, who we've waited almost 18 months for a visit! That is ridiculous!
Didn't make the Batt Cave yet, but laundry is washed and folded.
Kitties, they'll be here next week. One, the little girl is blue eyed, creamy white and tipped with rusty color markings. She's a short hair kitty. Her brother is the standard looking gray and white striped tiger kitty. He's short haired as well. I think they are about 7 weeks old. They are in a foster home until they come to us, next week. Both have very pretty faces.
So not much else here. My grands are off again to another outing until Saturday afternoon. Emma is due home from Canada in about a week. Daniel is finishing up the last of the welding on the deck railings. All the railings are custom made.
Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Re: Thurs July 17th
Good morning ladies, sorry I missed yesterday. I did get into the dentist. He pulled one tooth and scheduled a root canal with the "specialist". I will then go back on the 6th for a crown. He is a general dentist and I am not sure why but he cannot do root canals. I am on soft cold food only for 3 days. He put in some stitches and doesn't want anything getting stuck there. I also have to ice it 3x a day. Pain med and Antibiotic. I am going to so skip Open Sew today.
Lois I have not even checked the weather today. Okay just did, 56* now, should get up to 75 - 80.
Flo what a shock! I am going to clear off my sewing table and see what I find. Who knows, could be a completd quilt. Had to laugh, the other day at Open Sew my friend opened her project box to see what was left needing to be done on that quilt, Guess what? It was already done. That has never happened to me.
Maryz My trip starts on Sept 4 which is 7 weeks from today. I will be back 27th or 28th so a bit over 3 weeks. I looked at that pattern, doesn't really look too bad but $40? That's a lot isn't it for a pattern. I will have to think about that. After all night do we have a place to put the long handled catfood spoon in the dishwasher? I hate it when that happens. I am not sure there is anything that works all night long for sleep. I bought a time released Melatonin and it only lasts 4 hours max. I will have to look into Insomnitrol. Never heard of it.
Jana we used to do a lot of scouting stuff down in the Concord area. Not sure if your boys ever did the badge classes up here. Can't remember what it was called now but we had an all day event where boys could come and work on their badges. We had many from the Concord area come. I am thinking there is a good possiblity I have ran into them somewhere along the line. Have been out of scouting now for probably 7 or 8 years. DGS eagled in 2015. I am sure you will do great at your music event.
Tina good to hear from you and praying you are okay. I am trying to get back into to the walking also. Not too much pain today so may go for a bit out to the Eucalyptus grove. I did not realize you had gone back to work. Sorry you are not getting your sewing done.
Lori it was quite a relief for me when I got through all the financial and attorney stuff. Still working on the clothes and whatnot. I have gotten half the closet done. Will really start serious next month as I have to have things ready to go for our trip. Dropping things are my son's, nephew's and sisters.
Yes Maryq, hoping you make it out of Alaska today. That was quite a little shaker up there. Glad to hear you are out of range of the Tsunami.
Lyn I would not want to get shaken up out on the waters either. I want everything calm when out on the boat. I did not realize you were in bear country. Why would anyone leave food out like that? That will only keep them coming in.
Judi so sorry about your DD FIL. I can't imagine being in his position. Over my years of Hospice nursing I have seen so many things. I am hoping they can work through things.
Well time for some ice so I will be off. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Thurs July 17th
Good morning,
JUDI - I feel for Colleen's FIL and his family. I've said some prayers for them to ease their path. But happy to hear Val is doing well. And I hear you on the internet. Bill is an internet/phone junkie. Even when he goes outside to do something, I see him through the windows - on his phone. He finds more rabbit holes to go down. Though in his defense, he does all the research, ordering, bill paying etc for us both.
FLO - your bears will be so special! I could never make little collars like you are doing. I can barely make a normal collar. I hope your shingles aren't caught up in tariff issues and delayed. You may have to find a new supplier.
TINA - So glad to see you!! How long have you been working? Sorry there's little time to sew. Is Jazmyne still living with you? How are your feet feeling?
VAL - I did manage to remember that your departure date is Sept 4, but I couldn't recall your return date. Glad it's 3+ weeks and not just 2. Back in 1997 we did a cross country trip in our motorhome in 3 weeks. It's doable, but we didn't linger anywhere. If you only want the pattern book for KTVCS, I found it for $16.https://www.etsy.com/listing/1868227744 ... gIKPPD_BwE
JANA - sounds like Sarah has a big job! Glad to hear you are healing. Keep working on Mr. Grumpypants for that kit. Judi received hers but mine is delayed because, while they have the fabrics, the patterns are now backordered. Since we are leaving in a matter of weeks, I called them to see when they expect them in and they said they'd e-mail their supplier and get back to me. So far, no word. And your new little grand kitties sound adorable!! But then, what kitten isn't??
LORI - I usually do a sample block but I totally forget to check websites for possible pattern corrections. Thanks for the reminder. Glad the house uglies are done. My chores are pretty much done, too, except the laundry is starting to edge out the door, kind of like Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout's garbage! I'm going to have to deal with it soon. But not today.
LYN - sometimes I think you wouldn't know how to function if you didn't have a problem to solve. I thought the tag axle issue was taken care of. I hope it doesn't delay you when you are ready to hit the road again. And I'm told the quilting class is on at the library again this winter - probably in January. However, I told them it's a QUILTING class, not a SEWING class. And people need to have a basic knowledge of sewing first. And to bring their machines, oiled, threaded, and ready to go. I suggested the library talk to the quilting group who meets there and ask them if they are willing to give SEWING classes.
I talked to Mary Q - they went up to Talkeetna for the day - a 2- hr drive north of Anchorage. She didn't mention anything about the earthquake. She flies home this morning. Though with the 3 or 4 hour time zone difference and the 6-hour flights it will be pretty late by the time she gets home. She'll be tuckered.
Yesterday was my mom's 111th birthday. I thought of her all day long - though I usually do anyway, especially when I'm in my sewing room because she sewed a lot. I finished my football jersey cushion covers. One fits a bed pillow purrfectly. Another is slightly different size because the shirts were different, and I used the logo'd sleeves to make a small bolster cover. Next I will make the pillow form for the bolster but need to go to Michaels to buy some 'fluff' filling. Bill finished quilting BeWitched. So I'll make a label for that. Binding is made and waiting. I hope to get that finished this morning, too. But first - I have two appointments - one is to return my cardiac monitor and one is to have my permanent crown seated. Then about noon I'm going to a memorial service. So between all of that, most of my sewing day will be shot.
My next project will be to make Drew's LOTR tablerunner. MARY Q, darn her!, suggested repeating some of the paper pieced blocks that are in the quilt that I made 3 years ago. It's a good suggestion that I really didn't want to hear because I really didn't want to make those blocks! But I know it's what Drew would like. And I do love that young man! So - today I'll choose which blocks to make. The quilt had 42 blocks in it - but all designed by about 7 different designers, so the sizes range from 5" square to 12"x24" rectangle. Depending on the blocks I choose, I'll make 3 to 5 blocks.
Have a nice day, everyone!

Re: Thurs July 17th
Valerie, I will be so glad when everything is finished with my parents estate. I still have a lot of stuff left at the house. I did all the clothes first. Bummer about losing a tooth. I wonder if you ever crossed paths with Jana and didn't even know it.
Maryz, I started reading your post and got to laundry. Then I remembered I needed to put the sheets in the wash. They are washing now. Thanks for the reminder. That D&D pattern is kinda cute. Thanks for the update on Maryq. I bet she had a fun time with the family.
Jana, 18 months is ridiculous, but glad he is finally getting seen. I'm going to need to see picture of the cute kitties.
Flo, I assume you were excused. One of my best friends is a Superior court judge in Orange County. She hears felony cases for rapes and murders. Someone has to do it to put these monsters away. Hope Joes starts to feel better soon.
Judi, yes it is amazing how much you can do when the internet is down. I had a day like that last month. I guess there are good things about the internet and bad things. Seems like these days there more bad than good. But hey, if we didn't have it we wouldn't have out little chat group. It's the first thing I go to in the morning. Sorry to hear about DD's FIL. That's hard for everyone. I read "Where the Crawdads Sing" last year. It was a good one.
Lyn, people leaving trash out is not only stupid, but could cause somebody harm or death. They should be kicked out of the park if they're still there. Hope you get to fish today.
Bill and I talked about getting some work done on our house. We need kitchen counters/backsplash, stove, sink, oven and a new window in the kitchen. Then we also want to have the fireplace redone and the house painted inside and out. I'm going to have contractors give us bids. We will move up the street while they do it. By doing that, we will be covered under prop 19 in CA and the property taxes will remain the same on the house the street. It's a win win. Don't know what I'll do today, but I have the sheet in the wash and I need to run a few errands. After that no plans. Dinner will be chicken, potatoes and onions on the grill and fresh broccoli.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Thurs July 17th
Well, just added a new diagnosis to our plate here. We've seen lots of memory issues since Covid with Mr G. Now the diagnosis of lewy body syndrome with dementia is added to our plate. Monday will be more extensive testing to see where we are on the scale. So now a new normal. And I don't have to deal with the issue of him driving, that's off the table. So glad I have a Batt Cave for escape! And y'all!
Yes, I probably ran across Valerie in Concord. We frequented the same LQS's and were both involved in scouting for many years. Concord really isn't that big and the BSA council covered Vallejo. Heck, I was born in Vallejo, bought my favorite Solara (car) there too. My great aunt had a gorgeous old Victorian home on a hill in downtown. And we always stopped at the Red Top Dairy ice cream store, if I had been a good girl for a cone. And my Dad was a bridge builder, and built the old two bridges in Vallejo. Oh, my uncle lived in Vacaville. And I bought a serger from the shop in Vacaville. Yup, I'll bet I've run across Valerie!
