Good morning ladies, DH has been off the last couple of days. Hence my absence. He goes back to work today. Seems I just don't get things done so well when he is home. I did get my KT fabrics into a bigger tote yesterday so they are all together now. Cleaned Dad's old room and got that looking better. It has a lot of my fabric/kits in it so not pristine. My Stars are on the design wall and I have rearranged them a few times. I am doing the Moda Blockheads this time around and did get the current block cut, will sew it today. Also cut out the blocks 10 of the new Flower Sampler quilt. (same designer as Barn Star). I have 2 boxes of Dads clothes packed up and ready for the second hand store. Still have about half the clothes to pack up. IN the process of doing that I found some ties I did not know he had. Flying Tigers, Star Trek, and a few others. I held those out in case the boys (mine and my sisters son) want them. I also discovered he has two kilts which I didn't know either. He was scottish. I will save one for each of my kids as they are the only ones who showed any interest in their scottish heritage. Other than that, nothing else much new.
Chriss that is an adorable picture of you and Elliott. I can't believe he is that big already. Time goes so fast now a days. We did not go to any fireworks here. True to this towns nature, somebody apparently shot a gun up in the air (did they not realize that bullet was going to come down somewhere?!) Well unfortunately it did and hit a women and she did not survive. Also there was a random shooting at the waterfront where the town does their events. I am wondering if your aortic valve issue is the reason you passed out a bit ago?
Lyn certainly praying for Texas. I have to be reasonable and assume those missing have drowned but that is so hard to think about those children in that situation. I pray that they did not suffer. Some things are just hard to accept. I am almost to the end of my pile on the new machine cabinet and will be able to put it back up and start a bit of exploration with the embroidery and quilting sections.
Lori I did not realize Bill was a vet either. Yes Vietnam was a tough one. My DH brother is a Vietnam vet and he never talks about it. I remember one patient I had had severe PTSD. He would not even go outside. Dark times for many of them.
Oh Jana don't remind me, I have to get to my fridge soon. The top part is good but stooping down for the bottom, that's another story. I need to pull the step stool in there to sit on. I usually just run the shelves through the dishwasher.
Mary I think come August 1 I will start getting things together. I still need to start that list. Today is hopefully the day.
Judi have a great trip, hope they give you a break from cooking, at least they could do up the dishes.
Maryq make sure that warehouse does not sell out before I get there!
Off for some more coffee and possibly breakfast.
Have a great day everyone.

Re: July 6, 2025
Good morning,
CHRISS - that picture of you and Elliott is majorly adorable! So sweet! And I love your haircut! purrfect! I'm sorry to hear you have some cardiac issues. Keep us posted. My friend, Esther, had the same thing. You've got a great support team in all of us!
LORI - Now you've done it. I spent all yesterday morning until 2pm cleaning cupboards an drawers and cabinets in my master bath. (there's a lot!). I came upstairs for a break, read your post about cleaning your fridge, and thought to myself - "Fudge. I really should clean my fridge, too. Darn that Lori. Or. . . . should I make fudge instead . . .
" I compromised and made a blueberry pie. But your idea of getting out of Dodge next July 4th is a good one! We might have done that except for two things - we have a 40' "home" blocking our path to get our trailer out, plus we have no truck at the moment to haul said trailer. Maybe next year . . . And YES!! Our truck is finally in the shop!! It will be at least two weeks before it comes back.
LYN - I saw that several teen girls have been rescued in the Texas flooding. Rescues were still going on by helicopter last night. Lake Travis is nearly 70% full. You made me curious so I Googled the route of the Guadalupe River - New Braunfels to San Antonio to Gulf of Mexico. It does not flow into Lake Travis. I'm happy to hear you are happy to be where you are, fishing or no fishing. Is it too soon to ask how long you will be in Canada?
MQ - Quite a coincidence that you and Peg went to same school - and she was in your DB's class! Does she live in the other half of your duplex? You know I graduated in 1969, too. I think I'm 7 months older than you are. Yes, thrifting did sound like my best option yesterday - but I didn't do it. Sigh. I spent 5 hours cleaning in our bathroom, washing out drawers and cabinets. I tossed 1-1/2 packed grocery bags full of trash. And made a pie. And just like that, *POOF!* the day was gone. What did you do?
JANA - congrats on your BP numbers! Funny that we seem to be running a very similar path here. What med did your doctor put you on? I am on Losartan 50mg. now. So far, so good. I will be with you in spirit on Wednesday. When I did OWL, I prepped 3 backgrounds at a time, but I could only trace and fuse one block at a time or I got them mixed up. Ziplocks were my friends. They are probably my most commonly used non-sewing item in my sewing room.
JUDI - I hope today holds all you could wish for!
VAL - are you getting excited? You leave in about 8 weeks! I think we'll be a week behind you. We are still waiting on a bit more "life stuff" to make sure we are going and when we'll be going. You have a lot going on in your sewing room. It's hard to keep up with you! You said you found some of your dad's ties - ever thought of making a tie quilt? So many ideas for a project like that. I remember a few years ago Sue was collecting ties to make one. And the kilts would be family treasures! I am a very sentimental person. I'm carefully saving a cracked green Fire King bowl of my mom's. Maybe because I have so little that belonged to her . . I can't use that bowl, but I do display it in my kitchen.
Well, you already know - I cleaned bathroom cabinets and drawers yesterday. Today I'll do the fixtures, scrub the shower, clean the mirror, window, and floor. And wash rugs. Our kids will be preparing to leave early tomorrow morning on their maiden run with their new fifth-wheel. They will be going about 100 miles south for two weeks, maybe more if they can get a campsite at the military campground out on the coast. But not to worry! We won't be lonesome - we have friends from Bend, OR arriving July 10 for 3 nights with their trailer. So we will be having a gathering here July 11 with about 11 people. One will be another overnighting Oregonian so we will put him up in our trailer. So I need to get it guest room ready, which is usually is, but Bill has been monkeying around out there, running wires under cabinets and making a bit of a mess. So maybe I will be doing that today.
In sewing news, I'm using some of Amara's little sleepers and tee shirts to make letters spelling out her name on her quilt. So if I get any time in my playroom this afternoon, that will be the project of the day. I don't know what supper is going to be yet. Kids took us out for Mexican last last night. I had a chicken taco salad and Bill had carne asada tacos. I'm still needing to eat soft-ish foods. Maybe orange chicken . .
Have a really nice Sunday!
Tuesday is deadline to sign up for the Christmas Swap. So far we just have 7. Can we purrsuade anyone else to join???

Good morning!
Well, if yard read the news, you may see a story about Herriman. Seems as if a 3 car vehicle crash, on the large main drag through town , crashed into a building which went boom, big time! Blew the roof up and off completely. We heard the sirens, between all the fireworks last night. This took place about 18 blocks, east of me. PD closed the road, issued evacuation orders, so it was a huge deal. Called in mutual aid for fire, 60 more fire fighters, and I have no doubt Aaron got called out as well. He didn't go to St George as planned, Kate was having a bout of morning sickness. So I will get the rest of the story today. I use that main drag all the time. Hot time in Herriman!
Church is a bit later. We are singing two of my all time favorite hymns. It will be lots of fun with the music today..
Sarah is home safely, as well as Matt. So we'll probably get invaded, as we call it, this afternoon. Sarah is doing laundry, as Joseph and Ethan leave in the early hours of morning to camp in the Tetons with the scouts. Tanner and Logan too. I'd be tempted to send the clothes dirty, it's scout camp!
So burn down the state legally is now done until the 24th.
For my BP med, i take Telmisartin. Works for me so far. It's one in that class of sartins, there's a few out there.
Well, time to get going, get Mr G on schedule to leave for church. I have a schedule to keep and be on time, slightly ahead of Sacrament meeting starting, to finalize with my organist how we're doing the music. Doing the music for me, is like getting all my points to match on a quilt, I'm fussy!
Do fun stuff!
Hugs,
Jana

Sunny and breezy, may or may not fish.
Chriss, What a happy photo!! Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry your having some heart issues, praying it's easily fixed.
MaryZ, Orginal plan was 2 months here, but it might change. I hope your kids shake down trip, as we've called that first one, goes well. Remind them to check power at the pedestal, for me.
Didn't get much of anything done yesterday. Visited with friends, checked updates on Texas and went to the grocery store. I ran into my friend, Jackie, at the grocery store and she told me to come over for a glass of wine, so I did. Jackie's DH had gone home to Winnipeg for a couple days to mow and such. We had a good visit without men.
I made Garry sit outside with Minnie which turned out a positive, because Marty stopped by. Marty was the maintenance man here for years, his wife is still the head housekeeper here and he'd driven up to check on her car tire. So it was a win win. Dinner was taquitos and a side salad.
Prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Good morning Girls
Time to open the windows a little... I can only stand the AC so long then I have to get some fresh air! Not supposed to get super hot today, so we will go with open windows as long as I can stand it!
Valerie... Tell you what, when I get home from Alaska, I'll run over to the fabric warehouse to make sure they are still fully stocked. Though I don't think I've ever been there when the parking lot wasn't full! Besides quilting cottons, they carry just about every type of fabric--knits, fleece, drapery, utility, costume things like beaded and sequined fabric. They have thread and lace and fat quarters and kits and even leather! https://srharrisfabric.com/
Maryz... Can't say I accomplished a whole lot yesterday, not as much as you did for sure. I did sew up a few more pencil cases-bringing the total to 41 now. I'll finish up more when I get back and can get some more zippers. Katie says she has a lot extra so I'll go "shop" in her sewing room. How exciting for L & L to go out on their maiden voyage? A short trip will be a good test of the camper and how it is to pull it around. They haven't pulled it out since it's been parked right?
Jana... OH my Gosh!!! I googled the news! https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/ut ... ngNewsSerp Poor Kate with the morning sickness... I remember it well. I remember thinking that if this is what chemo side-effect is.... you can keep it! Hope she feels better soon. Now I remember Telmisartin... I just remember the brand name Micardis! I don't think I saw it used a lot in nursing home care, but I do remember the name.
Chriss.. Oh my gosh, the little boy is just so darn cute! Lucky you, you got to snuggle him all day! Love the hair cut too! He looks like a very happy baby! Won't be long I bet he'll be walking all over the place!! Such good news that your test came back benign!
Lori..... Oh yeh, so easy to start something new.... I see a pattern and think, Oh I have the perfect pattern for that---or I go out to the garage for one thing and come back in with something else and another UFO is begun! Sounds like a great idea to go up someplace quiet next year, will be easier on Bill and the dogs!
Might sneak in a little sewing time today, but will kind of lay other clothes for the suitcase and see what I can squeeze in without going over weight in the suitcase! Need to go check on the cat in a little while too, not sure what time the kids will get home. On my phone I can see where Evie and Kris are at any moment, so I'll know when they are on their way home.
And I need more coffee!
See y'all tomorrow

Maryz, I didn't get the fridge cleaned yesterday, so today it is. What a cute idea to use the clothes for letters.
Maryq, oh yeah...searching for one thing and you pull out 3 other things to make.
Jana, that was some explosion. I wonder what was the source of the explosion. Maybe they hit the gas main.
Judi, I bet you are enjoying yourself.
Chriss, you'll be flying high for a while after spending all that time with Elliot in your arms.
I already walked with Jack before the sun came though the clouds. It warms up quick once that happens. Hopefully we'll only need to close up for a few hours this afternoon when it gets hot. I'm really going to clean the fridge today. Right after I log off of here. I think dinner will be takeout Italian.
Have a lovely day

Re: July 6, 2025
Good morning. It's going to start heating up around here. I'm so thankful that our 100+ weather comes and goes. I don't think I could stand living in constant heat.
We had so much fun last night. There were three of us who went and watched the fireworks over the lake. There was a family sitting next to us, adults and young kids. Before the fireworks started the kids were playing bible trivia with one of the adults asking the questions. Those kids had it down. They knew just about every answer. So we started palying with them. We'd raise our hands and if they couldn't answer the question they would call on us to answer. It was fun.
This morning the three of us walked and will do it again tomorrow. Glad to be walking again. I was a little anxious about it but now know I can get back on it again. The rest of the day will be spent doing miscellaneous chores around here and perhaps a run to the store for salad fixings.
Lori, I have an orange tree but when it gets pea sized green oranges on it the wild turkey's decide to eat them. I have had the tree for quite a lot of years but only had a couple of oranges. Sorry the boys had to hear the fireworks. Just seems that the darn things should be outlawed and put to rest. They are pretty but I bet the same thing could be done without the loud noises and such. I'm really going to vacuum today, right after breakfast. Wonder if your fridge and my vacuuming will really get done?
Valerie, is your fridge really full? Mine is almost empty. I keep soda's and bottled water for the parents and there is tons of room for more on the shelves. Some time back I went through and got rid of expired stuff and stuff I just don't eat. I bet it feels good to have that bedroom all cleaned up. Amazing how much stuff a person can stuff in every nook and cranny. I don't think my passing out was related to my heart. I do know something is wrong with my heart and will likely need to be fixed, but I am sure Iwas really dehydrated because of the antibiotics.
Maryz, sounds like it will be a fun time at your place with all that company. I'm not worried about the heart stuff. I am thankful that I will know a plan of action soon. I figure this has been going on for a while and I've been ok. I am looking forward to seeing that quilt made from Amara's clothes, it will be adorable.
Jana, which hymns are your fav's. Enjoy church, all morning I thought it was Monday. Just saw the link that MQ popsted about the roof near you, my goodness, that would be quite scarry.
Lyn, I'll be fine, This morning I walked about a mile and a half some of it up hill and didn't have any issues, I was anxious about walking that much but did it and will do it again tomorrow too. Hope they find everyone in TX, is that where you will go when you leave where you are now?
Maryq, the hair cut was an oops. I told the gal to take 2 inches off and she did. I guess her two inches and my two inches were using different measuring sticks. It will grow. Elliot, the cutie with 6 teeth, pulls himself up and walks around a table or holds on to my hands to walk, he's certainly preparing. Gosh I wish that sewing warehouse was here.
Judi, safe travels
I have hamburger and bacon thawed out, wonder what I could make with that?
Time to see if that vacuum cleaner wants to play, you all have a super duper day

Jana, Has Kate tried, Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Acupressure Wristband for Motion & Morning Sickness? There $7.97 on Amazon or I'm sure a drug store has them. They really helped my Stacey when she was pregnant 20 & 17 yrs ago. I used them when we first started boating, but rarely use them now, but they're in my pocket when fishing.
Chriss, I saw a man using a hula hoop around himself and his baby. He had it tilted so the baby could hold onto it and walk without someone holding the baby. The baby looked like he was having a good time.
If someone gets in gear, we will go fishing. Guess I better see what's taking so long.

Thanks Lyn, passed on the info to Kate.
Let me say, pictures don't do that explosion site justice. Suffice to say, we here in Herriman, have a first hand idea of what a B -2 bomber dropped bunker buster bomb can and did do! Yes, it did hit the gas line, meter at the rear of the pizza shop, which the store was open. The back of the stores are on the main street side. We drove by the site after church a minute ago. No Domino's or Jimmy John's or Supercuts there for a long time! It may also affect Herriman drinking water, as the city has a main well there too. Much of our water is from wells around the city.
