Good morning,

JUDI - you are off on your trip today. Have a wonderful time! Your family is so lucky you love to cook! homemade bread sounds delish!! I can smell it now! Yum! Sorry about your finger. Hope you are packing lots of bandaging materials. And maybe some rubber gloves? I got a small slice on my left index knuckle while cutting up watermelon (Bill finally sharpened all the knives!) but it didnt' even need a Bandaid. I wonder how many other folks got cooking injuries for the Fourth. All they talk about is fireworks injuries.

LORI - I also like the pretty fireworks and in fact when I was little I remember I called them "pretties". But the noise really bothers me, mostly because it really bothers vets and pets. Why do we have to celebrate with loud noises? Scottie even gets upset if one of us sneezes. Last night we gave him a little cat tranquilizer that Lara gave us and I think it calmed him somewhat but he was still frantic when the booming started. It was a long 3 hours here and our bed got pretty small. Foxy spent part of the night UNDER the bed. We also closed all the windows to soften the noise.

MARY - You are probably wise to not start your packing until the last minute. Less chance of overpacking and overthinking. How was the BBQ at your neighbor's? That sounds like fun! And you know, I never thought about paper piecing some of the characters from Lord of the Rings for Drew's coffee table runner. I was just going to do something like log cabins to use up the LOTR fabric scraps. But maybe I'll give your idea some thought . . .

LYN - I'm hoping you finally got your birthday dinner. And I'm so thankful the electrical problem was not yours! And I'm praying for all those in Texas affected by the flooding. I know it's not too far from your place. Antonio said they have water in front and back yards of their new place, but not actually flooding.

JANA - Maine Coon cats are awesome, though I think all cats are awesome. But I happen to be partial to Maine Coons myself, having one sitting here snuggled up to my hip as I type this. They have sweet, gentle personalities, come in almost any color, and are BIG. Foxy weighs in at 18#. What month are you working on for OWL? Or are you tracing all the months first? Sorry about your fusible being no longer available. I usually use Pellon #821 (I think that's the number but am too lazy to get up and go look). I save every little scrap down to about 1-1/4" in a small plastic tote. Those pieces come in handy eventually.

FLO - how did pickle day go? I no longer try to make them. Every single time I've tried they fail. And I've used all the no-fail recipes people have given me. I've wasted hundreds of dollars until I finally admitted pickle defeat and gave up. I buy mine at the store now.

CHRISS - how did your day go yesterday with your family? Did your dad and stepmom go, too? Did you stock up on snuggles?

Yesterday I got my pasta sauce cooking in the crockpot, then mopped, vac'd, and cleaned the main bathroom. I hacked up a watermelon and made garlic bread. Lara made pesto with spaghetti. I served my sauce with rotini pasta. Susie brought a delicious appetizer and after supper we passed around Costco ice cream bars. It was a great supper on our deck. I also finished my big ABC block. Whew! I thought on that one, and stalled, for a couple of weeks. Still not sure I like it, but it's here to stay.

Today is a free day. I might clean out some drawers and cupboards in our master bath. And I'll work some in the sewing room. Maybe the yard, too. Maybe I'll go thrifting. Maybe I'll go to Home Depot and buy Bill's Christmas gift (a Milwaukie impact driver, whatever that is) and hide it in my trailer shoe cubby. Or maybe I'll just read. It's good to have choices!

Have a restful day!

Good morning!

Well, we're still here! After all the fireworks last night. The mess of leftover spent firework shells is all over the streets! They'll get disposed of today, after they have been checked to be out and cold. People were good, except one nearby and finished their displays by midnight, the limit on noise. One thought it would be great at 2 in the morning! Either he didn't have many or PD showed up.

OWL is just in the stage of tracing. I have it's fabrics all over my sewing area at the moment, when I'm ready to do that step. The Cave is a huge mess! A messy area is a sign of creativity! Just made that up.

My kitchen got a bit more attention than planned yesterday. My grand helpers made a mess of my trash can cupboard. I don't like my kitchen cans in view,, so had a trash cupboard installed when I did this kitchen. It pulls out and holds two large cans.. one for garbage and the other for recycling. Well,, they miss, and mix up , so it was a huge gunky mess. It's not now! And then since I was cleaning that, the refrigerator needed some attention, so I did that and then since I was working right there I ran vinegar through my dishwashers and soaked the faucet too. We have extremely hard water and it needed doing. Well all is well in the kitchen, now, except the stove is trying to get my attention, saying , me, me me! I'm not listening!

Kids will be home from camping today. Aaron is in St George until Wednesday. Then this week, Emma's gone to Canada, the boys are off to scout camp, up in the Tetons. The only one stuck here at home is Baden. His time will come. Joseph is gone with all the boys as a scout leader for camp , so Sarah has the week to herself, well, except for me.

Time to get going on my day,
Hugs,
Jana

My BP seems to be behaving. Running around 129 - 139 or so over 65-70. My dental surgery is Wednesday morning, early.

Good Morning Girls

Happy Day After!! Not much in the way of sunshine here this morning but that's ok. Temps have cooled off a little but I'm not sure I want to turn off the AC yet.

Judi.... Just in case you peek in... hope you have a wonderful restful vacation! Sorry you sliced your finger! Kris has done the very same thing---sliced of a piece of finger with that Mandolin slicer!! I've been tempted to get one, but I think I've changed my mind!

Maryz... BBQ was fun with Peggy and Gary and Katie. So convenient too as Peg & Gary are right across my little parking lot! We had a burgers on their electric grill and played a card game. Gary has some dementia, but still enjoys playing cards. He loves to go for walks but sometimes goes too far and can't remember where he is. Peg and I graduated from the same High School--she graduated with my DB Greg in 1966, me in 1969--so it's always fun to chat with her when we have common memories of our hometown.--Bloomington, MN. So many fun choices for you to do today! Thrifting sounds like the best choice of all!! Or sewing.

Jana.... Isn't that the way it goes---you have to clean up one mess and it leads to another project and another project and before you know it the day is over! But you sure accomplished a lot!! Glad to hear your BP is settling down! Wishing you all the best when your surgery starts on Wednesday. I've been to St. George.... It's beautiful! We drove up there from Las Vegas one year through Zion Park!

Lori.... I didn't realize Bill was a vet. Please thank him for his service. The Viet Nam years were tough ones and our soldiers did not get the respect they deserve.

Not sure which direction I will go today. I found a box of FQ's in my closet and they seem to be calling my name to make SOMETHING out of them--some Prairie Woman fabric I picked at Walmart when they were on clearance. Though I definitely shouldn't start anything new now!! I might save for pencil cases if I need more! or little tote bags or coin purses.... the possibilities are endless. The only thing I have to do today for sure is go check on the cat. May start laundry but then again maybe not. Maybe I'll sew a bit then clean up sewing room, but then maybe not! It's a MAYBE day!

What ever YOU do today.. may it bring you joy!

Sunny but windy, so no fishing. We've become fair weather fishing people. Just not interested in 24 mph wind gusts on this lake. I'm not a fan of white caps, on the water that is.

Please pray for the Hill Country of Texas. It's still raining at our house this morning. The storm hit yesterday in the early morning, 4-5 a.m., in Kerrville area and water rose 26 ft in 45 minutes. That's why there's so many dead and missing. In our area they have opened the flood gates on Lake LBJ, which is by our little town. The water will be released until it reaches Lake Travis. Travis is very low on water and can use it all. I don't know where the Guadalupe river goes from Kerrville, guess I should get the map out.

Judi, I hope you have a good restful time at the lake, when not feeding the crew.

MaryZ, Nope, we didn't go out to eat. It's my fault, I just hesitate to spend that kind of money. It's expensive up here.

Jana, If you run out of stuff to clean, you're welcome at any of my houses to clean away.

Chriss, How's Elliot?

Yesterday I played more with the alphabet on my machine, making samples to show my friend, Carol, in Texas, who needs a couple labels. I have fabric ready to make them today.

I hope y'all have a good day.
Lyn

Good morning. It's a beautiful morning here. I was thinking that if that sun didn't pop over the mountain, it would be perfect weather, but it's not obeying. I've been able to have the house open this morning, it's wonderful.

Tonight I'm going to a fireworks thing over at Lake McClure. Not sure why they are having it tonight instead of the 4th, but it is what it is.

Yesterday was a fun day. I held that baby for hours. He likes my glasses, and I had fingerprints all over them. I was truly in my glory. We had burgers and dogs, then cake for dessert. And after eating my cake I noticed my son didn't eat all of his frosting, I finished it for him.

Got a call from my thyroid doctor, I am benign, he wants to see me in a year. I also got a call from the cardiologist. My appointment is on the 16th. It appears my aortic valve leaflets are severely calcified. While Google is a great resource, it's also a rabbit hole. I figure a procedure is in my near future. I have the neurosurgeon appointment on the 26th. It will be good to have all my medical stuff figured out this month.

The neighbor across the street had fireworks but thankfully we only heard about 5 pops and it was done. No other noise all night.

I've already watered outside and will need to pick tomatoes today. My onions aren't growing as fast as I'd like, but I do have one cucumber on my plant. I've completely given up on fruit trees. They will one day be replaced with something less messy.

And that's my story, I have breakfast to eat, bathrooms to clean and a carpet to vac. Hope you all have a wonderful day
Chriss

Chriss, OMG that is an adorable picture of you and Elliott. I bet you had the best day ever. The critters don't bother our citrus tree. We have a lemon, lime, and orange, but they love the peaches.
Glad you got your appointment all lined up for the month.

Lyn, that flash flood was incredible. I hope they find those missing children. How heartbreaking for the families of the ones that died. I think as we get older, we like things to be easy. You'll get your fishing days in eventually.

Maryq, it's so hard not to start a new project. But I really should finish up what I already have started over the last few years.

Jana, I need to clean out my fridge as well. I had a pure bred Maine-Coon years ago. She was one of the most beautiful cats ever, but had a lot of health problems that the vet couldn't figure out.

Maryz, we decided that next year we will leave and go to Idyllwild. Our daughter, her husband, and the dog went up for the weekend to get away from the fireworks. She said it was really quiet. It was crazy noisy and a very long night for Jack and Wrigley.

Yesterday was a long day into night. The loud explosions started about 2pm and continued until midnight. Once it got dark, it sounded like a war zone outside. I don't understand how that is fun. Plus the air quality today is really bad. The boys are passed out this morning. They finally fell asleep when I took them to bed about 11pm. They got on the bed laying next to each other and were exhausted. I'm sure there will be more tonight, but not near as bad.

I have the house opened up until it gets too warm. Should be in the upper 80's to 90's for the next week or so. I didn't get my binding done yesterday, so maybe I'll get that done today. Dinner will be leftovers.

Have a lovely day.
