So today I will continue working on my butterfly

Tina sorry about your troubles I pray that things get better for you real soon.

Good morning,

Today would be my brother, Albert's, 89th birthday. He was 15 when I was born and such a sweetie. He had dark curly hair and he used to let me stand behind him on the couch and try to comb the curls out, I was never able to do that but Mother Nature took care of it for him later in life.

TINA - so sorry to hear you are having such problems in your life. Praying all will resolve for the best ASAP. MARY Q and I have talked and we're going to co-host the Christmas swap. I will post it but blocks will be sent to her as we will be leaving for east and south about the time blocks would be due. The theme will be quilters' choice - the block that means Christmas to the quilter - in traditional colors of red/green/white.

LOIS - I lost track of what you are working on, I guess. A butterfly? I thought Snowman was on your work table. Tell Vinae to check the swaps! Christmas swap is going up today! I am working on 3 things - quilting my embroidered "over the river and through the woods" quilt, set of placemats for Drew's birthday, and the quilt from Amara's baby clothes. Just didn't make much progress on any of them yesterday.

LORI - that party must have been a hoot! I've always wanted to go to, or hold my own murder mystery party. There used to be a murder mystery dinner train in WA that I always wanted to go on. Thought it would make a great birthday activity. But they discontinued the train years ago.

CHRISS - I think it's time to give up on your fruit trees and just enjoy the oxygen and the shade they give you and get your fruit at the fruit stand. But if you REALLY want those few plums, you might put a few fake owls in the trees. Owls eat squirrels if said squirrels are dumb enough to go near them. Hey! I wear those same Gloria Vanderbuilt Amanda jeans! Nice and stretchy! Can't wait for your stove to happen!! Is it being delivered to your house or are you and Dad going to fetch it? Send photos!

LYN - your plan for testing our repaired slide motor is a good one. Except for a few details. Lee & Lara would have to fold up their tent, hitch up their trailer, and back out of our way. Then we would have to hitch up but have no hitch in our truck! The truck is FINALLY going in for repairs! Hooray!! So Bill took the hitch out - no small feat! This new hitch of ours is huge! The truck will be gone for a few weeks. So testing will have to wait until mid July. Our truck will be back then and the kids will be gone for at least 2 weeks, maybe longer. I sure hope your hitch problem 'ain't no big thang'. We want you back in Texas this winter, safe and sound!

MQ - see my post to Tina! And yes, it was "Allan, the Dumb" that was on the ladder. Five years of nagging from my sister did nothing but annoy him. She says now she can elevate her nagging to "I told you so!". He seems to be OK. And to be fair to him, he won't be 88 until October. What day are you actually leaving for AK? And what day will you return? I need to know when to start missing you.

JANA - congratulations! I won't whisper a word! And if you get the BLOCK magazine, there just happens to be a baby quilt pattern with little train engines! Even if baby is a girl, you could do all the engines in pinks! It would be adorable! If you don't get BLOCK, talk to me. I will be glad to share my magazine.

JUDI - a trip to the UP! Where my Bill is from! Have a pastie for him! (hey! maybe that's I should make for supper tonite.) Just don't go too far in October! We'll have to hunt you down! You are already organizing your next projects! You keep me motivated! We have no plans for Fourth of July. Just try to keep our pets soothed from all the noise. But we might invite friends over for early supper. July 4th is kind of special to us. While we'd met about 6 months before at dance lessons, something clicked with us on July 4th (I had a party at my house and he came) and by the end of the evening we were a couple. πŸ’– It was sort of an instant thing. And I can still feel that 'zing'!

So yesterday was chiropractor and then mammogram. My foot has been really bothering me lately and the chiro worked on it and my ankle. It's not totally there yet, but it's much better! The foot is connected to the hip which is connected to the low back issues. Ugh. It's all part and parcel. So I didn't get much sewing done yesterday - a little progress on Drew's placemats. Visited with my 'new neighbor' for a while. Then ordered a new iron - a Black and Decker Allure. It should be here this morning. I had a Durathon and liked it, and I've also had a Chi from Costco. Most of my irons last about 2 years. I had a Shark once and within 6 months the handle started getting so hot it burned my hand. Will never have THAT one again!

Today - more sewing, maybe pull a few weeds. The place is starting to look like Sleeping Beauty's castle by the 99th year! I took 1/2# hamburger out of the freezer. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. We had burgers and corn on the cob last night. Maybe a one pot dish - fried hamburger/onions/macaroni with a salad.

So - to recap my post to Tina. MARY Q just texted me. We are going to co-host the Christmas swap. I get to start us out, but blocks can be sent to her for sorting and returning. That way we can be off on our trip and swappers will get a little extra time. Quilters Choice, red/green with white background, 12-1/2" blocks. I will post the swap today! Please check it out!

Today we will be 79*/cloudy. Then a 3-day dip into the 60's followed by at least a week of 70's and low 80's. Purrfect PNW summer weather. 😎

Have a terrific tuesday!

Good morning Girls

Delightfully cool this morning--nice to have windows open again.

Lois.... Seriously 106* Oh my! We've had that in MN but it's very rare. I've been in AZ when it's been that hot and I just don't like it---dry or not! That's too hot to even sit on the deck with a cup of coffee! Yup, there is a Christmas Swap! Thanks to Maryz! I'll be her swap buddy! Hope you will join in!!! The more the merrier they say!

Maryz.. Thank you for stepping in for Tina! Love quilters choice! And you know I don't NEED another Christmas quilt, but what the heck, it's tradition! You make pasties too? That was a requisite when I get married---to learn how to make pasties as DEX was from the Iron Range. I only make them in the winter. Glad to hear the Chiro helped the ankle. I checked out your new iron on Amazon... let me know how you like it and I'll put it on my "next time I need an new iron " list. How cool is that... you still get the zing!!!

I've been staring at the computer screen---ever have that happen, and your mind goes blank! I'm looking at the clock and see it's almost 10am! Guess I better grab some more coffee and get back to work.

I did post a picture of the Alaska Quilt this morning.... It's now carefully placed on my bed.!

Happy Tuesday to you all

Sunny but only 54Β° out.

Lois, I would like to trade a few degrees to even us both to a better temp.

Tina, Sending prayers.

MaryZ, I hope the shop gets your truck fixed correctly and quickly. My problem is a tag axle leak.

MaryZ and MaryQ, Thanks for covering the swap. I don't have any Christmas on board, but there's a new owner of the QS in Kenora and it gives me a good excuse to check out what she has.

Chriss, I too wear Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans. Im not a Capri girl. I hope the new stove works great. If you are getting the one with the griddle plate in the center, I want to know how you like it.

I got a few things done yesterday, house wise, but never got to the boat. I will work on the boat today, though to be honest, I'd rather set up my sewing machine. I will do that on the next rainy or windy day when there's no fishing.

Hope you play with fabric today.
Lyn

Good morning, quick Drive By. DH still home and my schedule is all messed up. I went to MAD Monday yesterday. Got one quilt done and another started. Today is Open Sew and I will continue on with my Blueberries and Cream stars.

Have my trip tentatively planned, at least the first part. Hotels are reserved for SD and Washington DC. I do not think I will reserve for the trip through the midwest and will play it by ear as we go. Have decided to take the truck just in case. May have to spring for a camper shell to secure items and will have to get a detail before we go.

Tina thoughts and prayers go out to you. God will sort it out.

Lori our peach tree keeps getting leave curl even though we spray it. The guy caty corner behind us doesn't do anything with his and think it spreads to ours. Just like people, diseases spread. So we havent' had peaches in a couple of years now. I cannot think of you as a killer, maybe there was a mistake.

Chriss I am still trying to figure out how we could get more time. DH takes almost 2 weeks off every April so that cuts into his time. I will have to do a bit of clothes shopping for the trip. Not sure where we will have access to laundry facilities.

Maryq yes there is a difference between enhanced ID and Real ID, You need a real ID to get on a plane no matter where it's going.

Jana secret is good with me. But March 27th would be a great day. That is Mom's BD.

Maryz I guess as long as DC doesn't sink until after I leave it is okay. Uhm, wonder if I could get a cutting and start a tree here?

Well stuff to do before I leave, have a great day.

Good morning!

We're getting hot again, but that's life here in desert paradise.

Took Ethan to cello, which gave me time to get the 13 year's old version of the camp trip. Quite different from his mom's version. πŸ˜€ I won't see much of him as he has activities all this month. Then got my haircut and stopped at Costco on the way home.

Maryz - while I was at our Costco, they were sampling a new product. Something they always do, but this one caught my attention - not for what it was, but the name of the product. It was named Amara! Some kind of a yogurt snack. Immediately thought of Ms Boots!

I got the laundry mostly done, just one load left. Also cleaned the master bath halfway, just the floor is left. My little handy dandy scrubber needed to be charged to finish. It's charged now, so I'll finish that this morning. And do the main bathroom too. Our BIL from California is coming this week for a visit. One of my kids is picking him up at the train, which is the middle of the night arrival. And not sure where BIL is staying, our house, or his brothers house across the valley. Need to talk to Daniel, he took the call from BIL.

Time to scoot,

Tina - you're loved!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning I am up and just not motivated to do anything,,,
Tina if you are reading I hope you know I will pray for you...and hope you re back with us soon...
I was going through my addresses and ran across Sherry ( forgot her forum name) and she hasnt been on here in a long time so I dropped a card in the mail to see if she is ok. We used to go to a quilt show each year and meet for lunch, But havent heard from her so I hope she reaches out.
It is another scorcher here 94 today, Yesterday Ken got the air going and then to cool off we headed to Liams hockey game...They lost 5-4 but it was a cool 55 in the rink and felt great. Hockey is absolutely not a summer sport and the boys werent happy with a summer league but they played good. It keeps them in condition for the fall...Liam will be a senior this year and we will sadly say good bye to our hockey carreers as cheering grandparents after next season,,, :( Ryker says he wont play next year he wants to do other things,,,
Im off top see if there are a few messes to take care of and then some sewing,, Prayers for all who need them...I have a friend who is in need of prayer and hope you will include him in your prayers,,,God knows the details. and I cant share them...but appreciate the prayers,,,Hope your cool where you need to be and warm where you need to be,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Jana, the kids have been feeding Amara her Amara snacks for about a year and a half. They are kind of tasty. It always makes me think of her too when I see them at Costco. There is also a long arm quilting machine named Amara.

Just to let everyone know the Christmas swap for 2025 is posted and we are taking names! πŸŽ„

Good afternoon. It's going to be a fantastic day today.

The stove arrived about 10 minutes earlier than their 8am delivery time, they brought it inside and took away the old one. Dad is changing over to LP and soon it will be in it's spot. He said I will be cooking on it tonight. I said, there goes my diet. I'm pretty happy with Lowes.

Lori, I have found that tree rats, like birds, are scared of whatever you try to scare them away until they realize it's not going to hurt them, they bam, they bring their army and steal your fruit. I had a friend who put stuffed animals in her trees, she didn't get any peaches either. Glad you got away with murder, sounds like a fun time.

Tina, prayers have been said, you're on my list now. hugs to you.

Lois, you are smart to stay indoors, 106 is way too hot.

Maryz, The fruit trees don't provide a lot of shade. But I also don't want too much shade because I wouldn't have tomatoes. It's a conundrum. We're twins, same jeans and I also have hamburger thawed out for tonight. I have a spaghetti squash so might make some spaghetti.

Maryq, your quilt is gorgeous, Jen will surely love it.

Time for me to get moving, I try to help dad but it's really a one person job.

Dinner will be spaghetti squash with sauce.

Happy Tuesday

Maryz, when I have foot pain sometimes I can feel it though my knee, up my leg and to my back. Stretching and ice usually help work it out for me. Yes, the game was fun. I've heard of trains and restaurants that do the murder mystery's but have never done them. yay for the Christmas swap. I was going to host, but you beat me to it. You go though irons a lot. Do you unplug them when they're not in use? Even though they are off, there's current going to the iron. I unplug my machine as well.

Chriss, how's the new stove? Does it make cooking more enjoyable? The critters come in at night while the dogs are sleeping. And yes they bring in their friends for sure.

Judi, Sherry was known as quiltmom. We haven't heard from Kathyquilts in a while either. She had some medical issue and was starting to get better I thought.

Valerie, to plan all the hotel stays would be a lot of work. We used to go to AAA back in the day and they would plan your route and suggest where to stay. I think they still do that. We had a problem with out leaves as well. Bill used copper spray and it seemed to have worked after several times.

Lyn, that's a tad bit chilly for summer.

Lois, you have the opposite of Lyn. 106 is brutally hot. I'd be staying inside.

Maryq, everyone could always use another Christmas quilt. I still have blocks I need to put together. I mix and match with different years. I just like to make the Christmas blocks more than anything. And yes, my mind does occasionally go blank. I think it's a reboot.

Jana, funny how kids are on a different planet of their own.

Washed the bed sheets, moved the bed to vacuum underneath, move the mattress around and remade the bed. Also dusted in there. I also did a little reading today. Not much else. We had a very late lunch so no dinner. I might have some ice cream later.

Sleep well
