Friday 13,2025
Good morning,
It's going to be cloudy and in the 70s we are suppose to have a rainy weekend.
We are not doing anything this weekend but that's ok.
I've been sewing on my snowman but not steady as there is always something that needs attention and I like to go on the deck in the afternoon and sit for a while.
The subject of pockets Bill always wears pocket tees I think it's a force of habit from when he smoked all those years ago.
Well there is nothing new to report have a fun day.
Prayers to all.
Lois

Good morning Lois Hope the day proves nice enough to sit on your deck...We do the front porch here,,,watch the cars go by,,,
I have a load of laundry going and another busy day here, I have a toe appt at 10 then at 230 taking the DDIL to therapy. Around her house she can walk around the kitchen holding on to things but out and about she uses the wheelchair...she can drive but cannot get the chair in and out of the car by herself. it is lightweight but bulky...so I go for the company and the assistance....
I worked on a few more stitches and did a couple of embroidery blocks . The embroidery is very simple motifs that can be done in a hour or 2, So I am working on them...that will be a fun quilt to put together with hexigon shaped blocks and Y seams...
well I hope you all have a great day,,,Ken and family are supposed to golf tomorrow for the Alzheimers benifit,,we are hoping it doesnt, rain and a few prayers for my DD she has an infected tooth with a crown..they put her on antibiotics and pain meds til monday when they will have to remove the whole tooth and do a bone graft for an implant. She is already freaked out as she hates dentists,,,I am hoping they have some valium handy... I may have to take her if Jeff cannot.

Good morning,
LOIS - there you are! How are you liking your Snowman? He was a fun project to make. I think he's made in sections and then the sections are put together. I like our deck in the warm afternoons, too. Smart choice!
JANA - yay! Good news about your BP! Now I hope to follow your excellent example. Though as soon as I sit in that dental chair - boom! Up it goes! I see my dr June 25 and go back to the dentist July 2nd.
LORI - welcome home! Oh, no one is happier to see you than a dog! Whether you're gone for a week or just to the mailbox - their tails just can't stop smiling when they see you again! LA's are fun! I will say, though, if you ever get one and have an option for hydraulic lift - GET IT! It was a $100 option on our frame and was beyond worth it. A real back saver. Chili over potatoes is one of our menu standards, though we haven't had it for a while. I think we're due again. Sometimes I forget about dishes I used to make. When are you going north? To Sisters in July?
JUDI - maybe Ken thought he cleaned up his mess? Bill always thinks he does. But no matter what he thinks, I always find sawdust, bits of tubing, wires, packaging, etc. And he always says, "I thought I did clean up my mess!". ha! Male eyes are so very different from female eyes. I've seen a hydraulic gadget that lifts a wheelchair up and locks it in place on top of a car. My dad had a boat loader that lifted his little boat up to the top of his camper - same idea. I wonder if something like that would be of help to Val when you aren't available. And I feel sorry for Colleen and her tooth. When I had my tooth removed and the graft for the implant the oral surgeon put me out. It wasn't bad at all.
MQ - You are going to have a busy fall with all your company! Glad you found something you couldn't resist at the garage sales. A box of sewing goodies! That must have been fun to go through. Yes, it will be nice to have L&L right in our yard! Their fifth-wheel is not an Arctic Fox. It's a Brinkley. Ihttps://www.brinkleyrv.com/rvs/fifth-wheels/model-z/#Floorplans model # 3515. It has a little room at the back end for an office space with a door to the outside, too, so they can slip their bikes into that space. If it were my trailer, you know what would be in that room!! Hope you found some time to cuddle up to your sewing machines yesterday!
LYN - I have a plaque that says, "I'm not being bossy - I'm just telling you why I'm right!" I hope the pkg you were waiting on arrived finally. Ironic that the extra bottle they are sending you to make up for the delays you went through is going to delay you yet another 1 or 2 days! But you know, when things like this happen I always wonder if the delay is keeping me out of an accident - or out of a big storm - or . . . Did you get your Super Box hooked up? Is this a TV/internet thing? I think Bill is going to look at Starlink - for his Fathers Day/Birthday gift.
VAL - I'm been fortunate to meet a lot of our forum members. Chriss, Cindy, Sue, Lyn, Tina, Chickie, Mary Q, Jana, Sharona, Mel (remember her? She was from Yelm, WA and her little DGS was 4. Well, he's now graduated high school!). Not to mention my SIL, Terry. This trip I hope to drop in on MQ, Judi, Irish, Lois (heads up, Lois!), and Becca. One day, we might be able to meet up with you! Bring your RV and come visit. We have room, power, and water! Even with the kids' trailer in our yard. There's always room for one more! Or perhaps we'll cross paths when you are on your return trip and we are still going east. Meet you for coffee somewhere mid-country?
CHRISS - Did you have a good day with Dad and DSM?
Yesterday I got binding and label on my hexie GMFG quilt. I think I posted a picture last summer when I finished the top. Bill quilted it with a computerized meander. My next project is going to be a challenge - Autumn sent me some of Amara's old clothes though not very many. Some are just scraps of old clothes. and a crib sheet. And an old, worn out hi-loft comforter batting. Her instructions were "can you do something with these and make a memento quilt for the Daddy?" So I've got some ideas from some of you, from Lara, and from websites. In other news, I have an appointment this afternoon with an orthopedic specialist for my low back, and right hip. I'm going to guess he prescribes P.T. We are leaving Monday for two days of camping in Yakima Canyon in central WA, then 3 days in Walla Walla (in SE WA) with friends for some wine-tasting. We'll be home next Saturday.
Supper tonite is going to be grilled pork chops, asparagus, and corn on the cob.
Friday the 13th! We got Scottie on a Friday the 13th, 2013. Which probably explains a lot about our goofy dog!
Hope it's a lucky day for you!

Re: Friday 13,2025
Good morning!
Hot again, but oh so nice. Had a discussion with Mr G about how to use our bigger deck. He argued every point, but I'll make it work. He's a resistor. Maybe I should say, diode! That's a electronic component that works in one direction only. You can make good use of that, if you understand that principle ! Mr G still uses his pocket for a pencil, have to have a pencil at all times! Before his new cellphone, which has a stylus to write notes with, he carried a small notebook he logged all kinds of info/notes in. His black book. To which I accidentally washed and destroyed all that info, once. Boy was I 8n the doghouse for awhile! When we bought the new cellphone, it had to pass the pocket test, would it fit.
Our front door lock keeps a log and notifies me of when it's opened or locked. So yesterday Grumpy thought one of the kids came while we were out and didn't lock the door when they left. He's extremely diligent about locking the house. Well, I knew he forgot and he swears he did lock up before we left. I had the evidence otherwise to prove him guilty in a court of law! HA,
It's nice to be in the Batt Cave. I'm fussing around with OWL. Getting all the remaining months kit assembled, ready to sew the blanket stitching on them. Playing with Kimberbell stuff too. My Girlfriend's Quiilt shop, where I get my fix of Kimberbell, made mention that many of the Kimberbell patterns for embroidery have the downloads for machines that use the smaller hoops. You just reboot to do the embroidery work. Oh, Maryq....
Andrew is in Provo now. I get letters each week. Getting one written up for him now. Gathering good sage Grandma advice. Now if I was that wise ol saged Grandma....
Time to scoot. Haven't heard back yet from the oral surgeon. My family Dr did change my BP med, he upped the dose, so that starts today. All my labs are back too, he's not worried as some are just barely out of range, like a thread width out of range. So I'm good!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Friday 13,2025
Good Rainy morning.
Looks like we are in a wet pattern up here---or maybe I should call it a "Pacific Northwest" pattern---rain off and on for almost the whole next week. Weather app says we won't see the sun until next Saturday! Evie is having her grad party next weekend so I sure hope the sun comes out!
Lois.... When I had a house with a deck... I so enjoyed sitting out there in the early morning with a cup of coffee! It faced directly west so was often too hot to sit there in the afternoon, until fall. It's good that you take a little "me" time to enjoy your deck!
Judi.... How is your DDIL doing after her special treatments? Does she notice any difference? Was the treatment designed to slow the progress of her MS? OH gosh, Poor Colleen... will send a little prayer for her ! I too am not a fan of dentists!!
Maryz... LOVE the kids's RV!!! Man what a way to go! Once upon that was my vision of retirement---travel around from September to April--then park it and enjoy a home on a lake in MN during the summer. Best laid plans............as they say. Happy for L & L that they can now enjoy their retirement. I'm sure you and Bill can show them the ropes and give them lots of info about where to camp etc! What fun!!!
Jana.... Kimberbell patterns for smaller hoops? My machine only does a 4" hoop and if I accidentally download a bigger design and put it on the flash drive--it will show on my machine's screen but won't allow it to be used. If I won the lottery I'd upgrade to a large hoop. I've bought a lot designs that included the 5x7" ones---I've kept them all on my backup hard drive--just in case.
Lori... I like Bill's idea of what to put in his pockets!!! How fun to play with a Long Arm! Viv taught me a lot about hers and I can do a panto in a pinch. But after what goes into using it---the cleaning, the oiling, getting the tension right, the getting all the pieces set up, I'm glad I don't have one!!! Viv loves doing it and doing pantos. I thought it was boring! Must be my ADD. The first time I went down to see it, I decided I was better at attempting to organize her stuff for her than actually doing the LA!
Lyn.... OH my---I do love that saying... "I'm not bossy..........." I wish I would have had that when I had 23 employees!! Have you been able to head north yet?
Chriss... What's on Dad's to do list for today? Did you order your new stove?
Guess I better get in gear, the other day I had the AC on, now I think I might have to turn the furnace back on---it's kind of chilly in here!! Promised myself that I would wash floors today before I went to sewing room, so if I'm ever going to get to sew I better get to it!
Wishing you all a most wonderous day. With prayers for all in need and for the world in turmoil today!

Re: Friday 13,2025
Good morning,
Maryq sure wish I could say it was raining here, but alas, it is not. It is 55* but going close to 80*. My machine came with about 5 hoops the largest being about 11 x 18, down to a 4 x 4 I think it is. Have not had the opportunity to try it though. I am working towards that though.
Jana LOL my dh carries a notebook and pen in his pocket. If it's not in the notebook, he will not remember it. He uses it a lot for work. Sure hope Andrew's mission turns out to be everything he wants. It's hard work I know, but I am sure he will meet many wonderful people and suspect will be a different person when he arrives home. Most I have spoken too say the child (yes I know, technically he is not) is so much more grown up and responsible after their mission.
Lori, yes, glad to hear you are coming north, Chriss and I will be anxiously waiting. Uhm, end of October is not the Sister's Quilt show, that is coming up I think real soon, like next month isn't it. But https://quiltguilds.com/event/mountain- ... phys-ca-2/ is Oct 17 - 19. My BD weekend, I may need look into planning that. It's about 120 miles from me.
Maryz I wish I could meet so many more forum members. Looks like Lori might be a possibility. I am thinking my RV is going nowhere anytime soon. It's older and might be on it's last leg. Several things have gone wrong recently in addition to the vaccum leak. DH should never have let others use it but he did. That's when things started happening. It's likely not worth putting a bunch of money into. DH is only working less than 2 years now, at which time we will likely sell the house and possibly buy a new one then. Or newer used. Still working on those plans. We are hoteling it on our trip.
Judi I don't have MS and getting Dad's w/c in and out of the car was difficult. I can't imagine her trying it. Sure hoping the new therapy is working. The drs decided DBIL did not have MS and have now decided it is Parkinson's. He is doing better on the Parkinson's meds. Still has issues but not as bad as it was.
Lois we are thinking about the fair this weekend. It is real close, within walking distance actually but as with everything else in my town, dangerous. I would go in the daytime. DH works on Sunday so whatever we do will have to be tomorrow.
I have gotten the binding on the front of two quilts and will take them with me on my trip to sew binding on the back while traveling. I want to get the binding ready for Xavier's quilt so also sew on the trip. My Ryan's Sampler and Blueberries and cream should be done real soon. I have all the rest of the blue cut and blocks are ready to put together. I didn't have enough of two fabrics so found a couple more this morning and have them ready to go. Still need to get to the embroidery and quilting part of my machine. But for now, need to get some chores done. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Friday 13,2025
Good morning. We are cooling off to the mid 90's before our triple digits are predicted to be here next week. Woo Hoo, let the tomato ripening begin.
Yesterday I got my oil changed and hit a few thrift stores. What a great day. The Subaru dealer in Modesto is so much friendlier than my old Subaru dealer in Fresno. I'm glad I went with them.
Thift stores around here have had to raise their prices. Seems a shirt that was $3 is now $6. But I was able to find some deals. One clerk said she gave me my senior discount. I asked if that meant I didn't look like I was 20 years old anymore. she laughed.
Valerie, I use a Simplicity sidewinder for my bobbins. It seems to work for me. I bought mine years ago with a Joanns coupon, guess that Amazon would be the best option now. So glad you are going to meet up with MQ. I wish I was going with you, but someone has to stay home near a phone incase you two need bail money. I think I would also hotel it if taking a trip. The cost involved with an RV wouldn't be beneficial for me, I'm not a traveler. Even my dad has decided to sell his Airstream, he no longer travels either. He will be taking it to a consignment place, perhaps one near you would have a deal on something that would suit you? I'm curious, if you do end up selling where will you move to? And, are you going to downsize first or just move everything and go through it as you unpack. I'm a downsizer. I put that quilt faire in my calendar. I'd like to do that, It would be fun.
Maryz, sorry about the mouse who found you. The other day in my breezeway I saw a little mouse, no bigger than a walnut. I showed Moose, he caught the mouse, took it into the yard and ate it. Now why won't he do the same with the stinkin' squirrels? Glad you are having some good Lara time. Happy trip planning
Lyn, love your "I'm not Bossy" idea. I have a magnet that says, "Actually, I am the boss of you" I have a love/hate relationship with that VPN feature, I have Norton on my devices and don't bother with the vpn anymore.
Maryq, you just keep sleeping in. I will go to the thrift stores early and get all the bargains, then I'll come get you and I'll help you spend your money on whatever is left. Seems that yard sales here are year round where they used to be during the summer. When the Costco opens near you see if they offer a one day pass and check it out. I've never been to Sams because we don't have one nearby, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. My stove will be here at the end of this month. Dad is hooking up the electrical to my microwave. While he doesn't move as fast as he used to he really wants to do the work and does. He has great plans for this house and once in a while tells me about them and adds, if that is what you want to do. I also tell myself if I finish one task I can play, unlike you, I don't listen to me very well.
Judi, what is it with men and messes? Dad leaves stuff everywhere. The last time he was here and was finished working in an area I picked up everything and cleaned the area. Put all the tools in one spot and he asked if he had put those tools there. I laughed and told him that I did it. I didn't say, No Dad, you left them everywhere and I just gathered them up. Like you, I am not a clutter lover. I've decided to do my laundry tomorrow. But, yesterday I cleaned the nose prints from my living room windows and thought how proud you'd be of me.
Jana, glad you passed, really glad. Now you can move forward. yay you. Funny, I was thinking I could write down some great words of wisdom for Elliott, add them all to a notebook and one day he will read them and just know everything. The reason I thought of it was my first advice would be, don't open your mouth while weed eating. Then I couldn't come up with more words of wisdom, so I gave up on that task. ha ha. I had a few outside the boundaries things on my lab work too. My doctor also wasn't concerned. Sorta puts a mind at ease.
Lori, If it works out when you head north I'll join you and Valerie. glad you had a fun time with your friend, does that make you want to buy a long arm? Moose also follows me around when I've been gone for a while. We are just lovable pet parents. Nice that Bill keeps candy in his pocket. My favorite hard candy was called Cream Savers, I loved the strawberries and cream and kept a bag of them in my purse. Gosh they were heavenly. I had to quit buying them.
Lois, smoking was always why Jerry wanted a pocket. Ithink sitting on the deck and enjoying the day sounds wonderful. Not cool enough to do that here in the afternoon but after the sun starts setting it's a nice place to be.
My morning has flown by. I've had many interruptions since starting this post. I think I will have some breakfast, get dressed and start my day. I'll thaw some hamburger for dinner, maybe spaghetti squash and sauce. We'll see.
You all have a fab day

Valerie, I not going to Sister's this year. I'm going north to to Napa/Santa Rosa area. I want to go to the Charles Schultz museum and wine tasting. And may even to Clear Lake for the barn quilts. I really like that Blueberry pattern. I bet it's really pretty.
Maryq, My friend bought the red snapper quilt loading system. We set it up and it works really well. Only took me a half hour to load a quilt/batting/backing. I did one panto and one free motion quilt. I liked the free motion a lot. I wasn't thrill about the panto. It's very tedious.
Jana, I have a friend that loves My Girlfriend's Quiilt shop. She went up a few years ago and took the class they offer in September about the embroidery.
Maryq, The height wasn't the problem with the frame, she's the same short as I am. It was how wide it was. We could barely reach to back. lol I'm not going to Sister's this year. We're planning a trip for next year when they have the garden show. It's every other year. I want to go the the Charles Schultz museum and Napa area. Hopefully PT will solve any problems you have. My bio mom said her chiro thinks she broke her hip. She said it's been hurting for a month but couldn't get into see the doctor until the end of the month. They've started moving on things since it might be broken now.
Judi, I've got the sheets in the wash. I did some embroidery while I was visiting my friend. Hope Ken gets to golf tomorrow.
Lois, I love being outside. Enjoy your time on the deck.
Chriss, I love those little cream candies as well. When I head north I will let you know. I really need to meet my twin.
I made potato salad this morning and Jack and I went for a walk. He was so happy. I also got the sheets washed and back on the bed. Now I'm watching the Cub game and having a bite to eat. Dinner will be enchiladas.
Have a lovely afternoon.

Thank you for the prayers for Colleen....she woke ( well she said she didnt sleep much at all) this morning and was in such pain that she went over to the oral surgeons office when they opened...told them to do anything or she might have to get plyers herself...They squeezed her in put her out and pulled the tooth,,,the surgeon said "stuff' gushed out of that tooth, He cleaned it up and with in a half hour there was no pain. She came home and slept the rrst of the day,,,I talked to her and her kids are getting her smoothies and slurpies (frozen drinks) and she is much better, as a matter of fact she said other than her jaw being a little sore it doesnt hurt at all...Due to the infection they couldnt do a bone graft so they will have her come back in 2 weeks when the antibiotics are done..Ken never smoked and only likes pocket in his pants,,,He loves cargo pants with lots of pockets...xxxxxxxoooooooo
