It's warm enough to be out on the deck this morning. And I am being serenaded by a concert of roosters, owls, and little birds of all kinds, not to mention the tinkling fountain. I love early mornings in summer weather!
LORI - you have just the right amount of wool. If/when I need more, I know where to look. Tell me again - what's your address ?..... You will have fun with your friend. I don't get to see my BFF very often anymore, but when we are together it's like no time has passed.
LYN - thanks for the article. I do very little garment sewing anymore, but sad to know patterns won't be there if/when I need one. The last time I went looking for patterns - 3 yrs ago - pickings were slim already. I couldn't even find a simple man's shirt pattern. Jana gave me one of hers to use. I had a friend (she passed away last Thanksgiving

JANA - with new pattern shortages in the offing, would you like your pattern back? My machine will make good buttonholes, too, though I've rarely used it. I generally use snaps, but they are getting harder to find, too! Especially the heavy duty ones.
CHRISS - My friend has white Corian in her house. Every single little crumb or bit of pepper shows. We got our countertops through Costco and saved quite a bit of $$. I'm not sure what all kinds of countertops they offer but it's worth picking up a brochure and asking.
LOIS - I see patterns in thrift shops all the time. Maybe I'll pay more attention to them now, But you never know if all the pieces are there. I'm excited you are starting your snowman quilt! Your background will be purrfect! I used pale blue snowflake for mine. A batik I bought in AK. Is Sandy starting hers, too? Does she live close to you? And by the way, how close are you to NYC?
JUDI - if you make a stitch book, do you make a note on each stitch sample what foot, throat plate, etc you need for it?
VAL - we started planning our trip and looks like we'll be leaving home about the same time you do. We've both made lists of all the people and places we want to see, made a very rough itinerary, and will work on that more as time goes by. Do you realize we'll be leaving in about 12-1/2 weeks?? We will only be averaging about 200 - 250 miles per day though. We'll never keep up with you!
Yesterday I washed my red/white stripe backing for my red/white Ohio Star and dried it on the line. It dried nearly wrinkle free. So I got that project all ready for quilting. And I decided that I'm going to quilt mr. and mrs Clause wall hangings (~30x40" each) as if they are one project and do them with one backing and one batting on the long arm. So much easier than using Chip, the Bernie. I can cut them apart after they are done. So, right now, I have no project happening in my sewing room. But I'm starting to think of winter projects for Texas and kitting them up. Maybe I'll decide on wedding quilts for my 3 grands and start on those. And then just set the tops aside when they are done to finish up later if/when weddings happen. Tops are so much easier to store than finished quilts. Also on my Maybe Some Day List are 'sweater weather' quilts for my kids. They are Norwegian on their dad's side. I've seen some pretty cool quilt patterns that look like Norwegian sweaters. Maybe I will finally make those, but in their favorite colors.
No further word from the development company on our house. Which is fine. They are far more motivated to buy than we are to sell. So if they want it badly enough, they will have to come to us with a very good offer. If they do, we'll take it. And if they don't, that's fine, too. We like it here.
Today it's to be 86* so I'm going to wash sheets and towels and dry them on the line. Don't know if Lee & Lara will be here today or not. They did get their new truck yesterday in Vancouver which is 2 hours south of us. They may be hanging around there and extra day or they might just go on to their son's house which is 30 miles north of us.
Happy Sunday!
