Good morning all...it is sunny and bright but still in the 40s. High today in the 60s. I have a full day today. This morning i will get my chores done round here some serious dusting, then head over to DD's to cook for the kiddos. I will make fried chicken , and what ever else is there, to cook making sure they have stuff they can reheat, and i will bake a loaf of homemade bread for them too...I will start that here, Then if they want we will have game night, It might only be Ken and I and Sophia. Nolan has to work afternoons and I am not sure what Liams plans are,,,but we are ok entertaining Sophia...she is fun too.
I did get one label made and the quilt fully loaded on to the LA. I have 2 more labels to make and a couple of my own for quilts I have here,,,It was my resolution to get them labeled and my ufos at least worked on,
I need to get Ken some breakfast and kitchen duty done,,,Too sunny for windows 11 more to go...It will get done...Hope you are all doing something fun,,,and please rememeber Why we celebrate memorial weekend,,,for those who wont be celebrating,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo

Good morning, everyone,
JUDI - You do have a full day ahead of you! How long will Jeff & Colleen be gone? It's nice of you to go over and make homemade meals for the kids. You are closing in on your windows. Only 11 left? I only have 11 in my whole house, plus the sliding glass door.
LORI - it's could be kind of handy to have an extra house close by - a guest house! Will Jonathon stay for the summer or will his visit just be a short one? I enjoy hand embroidery, too. But maybe my next project will hopefully take less than 3 years to complete!
JANA - I like background noise, too, when I'm sewing, but oh, I would be yelling at the TV, too! Of course occasionally seams end up not matched, but we have to try, at least. I listen to audio books, though I have to turn it off when I'm concentrating hard on a new pattern or a problem. Sounds like you chose wisely for your route home from your eye appt! We've been through SLC many times and there is ALWAYS major construction going on. Same with El Paso. At least SLC has some work arounds.
CHRISS - it's great to give your cousin the photo of your grandparents. I bet Richard and eventually Elliott might also like copies. Those sound like special photos. I didn't have any cousins to share photos with, but I did have a lot of siblings. It was fun making scrapbooks for them. By the time I was done sorting, purging, scrapping my parents' large cardboard box full of pictures, I was left with just a half-filled photo box. Felt good to get that weeded through. Did everyones' parents store their pictures in a big cardboard box? What a mess that was!
MARY Q - Yes, I could walk to my hair appt. So much easier to do than fight through some road construction with the car. And yes, that tree is still there. One of the advantages if we decide to sell is getting away from that tree. What's happening in your sewing room this weekend?
LYN - You've been down the mountain almost every day since you got back to Estes, haven't you? Did you get to stay home and play with your new toy yesterday?
LOIS - Did you get Posh Sunflower all cut out? Start to sew yet? I bet you are getting very good at curved sewing by now!
VAL - What was the update on your BIL? Is he still living with someone? job? I was worried for you when he came back for that memorial service. What is the project du jour?
Yesterday I got a haircut. Shorter than I usually like it - only about 2-1/2" long.
I'll find out if I like it after I shower and fix it later this morning. We are going to friends for 4-couple supper tonite. Crossing fingers that I don't go looking like Sideshow Bob! I got out my Bewitched blocks (witch's hats) that I made last winter in Texas and started putting them together. Today I might get that top finished. But first I need to make an apple pie to take to the dinner. It should be 74* today so I think I'll wear my white jeans and a green or blue silky top. I guess it's time to dig out my summer clothes. We've got all 70's and a few 80's in the coming week.
Enjoy the holiday weekend! But remember why we have Memorial Day. So we never forget the sacrifices of so many brave men and women for our freedom. May we never take it for granted.

yesterday I was sitting on the couch like I always do, typing my post. And Foxy was sleeping right next to me like he always does. When I signed off I reached over to pet him. He must have been soundly asleep because it startled him, he shot about a foot straight into the air, over 6 inches and came straight down spread eagled like a cartoon cat, claws out and he raked the coffee table on his way down. Now we have quite and impressive scratch in the finish. Gotta love cats!

Good morning,
Today I'm headed to the fabric warehouse I haven't been there in a long time so I'm curious to see what they have it's nice today the sun is shining but it's still chilly the high will only be 63⁰ but that is late afternoon.
Yesterday I was cutting out my posh sunflower and got stumped when it came to the background I kept reading and rereading so I left it go till before and the light came on so all is good I'm cutting.
Judi have fun with the grands.
Well that's it for me have a fun day.
Prayers go out to all.

Good morning!
Cloudy and we'll probably be rained on, but at least it's warm!
Sarah, Joseph, Ethan and Andrew will be here today. They are doing a "service project ", gathering up all the junk they have been storing here in my yard from all their moves into current houses! We've hinted over time that it needs to be gone, so that's finally happening. Most of it is in the area referred to as the corporation yard, translation, side yard. Andrew didn't go up camping, he'd rather stay home. So he's helping here, in exchange for Sarah teaching him to cook and food at her house this weekend. Andrew will be gone on June 2nd, his mission, so we're happy to have him.
I worked on the binding of a quilt that Andrew made, awhile back. I didn't get the binding done before he went to college, but now he'll take it with him to Texas. The binding is now on the quilt and mostly turned. I sewed the binding so I can flip it and stitch it by machine. First time doing it this way, so far, so good.and I only have a few inches left. Mr G's blood sugar crashed on me, so I had to stop and get food in him. I always keep things ready for a quick fix and then made dinner. So after breakfast, I'll finish that quilt.
Laughed at Foxy. I had a sweet kitty, a orange and white tabby, named Ginger. Her favorite thing was to perch on top of one of the wooden balls on my 4 poster bed. Not a lot of space, but she'd try. I had many cat scratches in that headboard! Now, Mr G found a cute little stuffed cat that looks just like Ginger and for fun, he put that stuffed animal, perched on top of our round ship's bells clock, so we see it all the time. We got Ginger about 1 week after we were married and she lived for 20 years. She was a character!
So it's a Batt Cave day and check on the music for tomorrow's Sacrament meeting.
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls
A quick hello this morning, as I need to do some quick shine up around here. Peg is coming over for coffee and tho Peg is a friend who doesn't judge, I should at least have a few areas tidied up! She knows me well enough that my house is never super neat --always various projects going on at the same time.
It's going to be a quiet weekend around here as the Shawn and family went to Wisconsin yesterday and Kevin--if he isn't working over the weekend --his family is probably up at Sara's folks lake place. No worries, tho I have lots to keep me busy. I was contemplating a quick dash to the nursery to pick up some more flowers for my patio, but think I might wait until next weekend. Memorial day will be pretty busy!
Better go clean up... I'll try to sneak in later on!

Re: Saturday May 24th, 2025
Cloudy morning on the Mtn. 46° going to 62° with possible rain.
MaryQ, I think you could update and get a Bernina, the info says the embroidery reads PES and many other formats. I think you should check it out, the sale ends the end of May. In case you want to check, Sew With Me in Coon Rapids looks like the closest Bernina dealer. Though the one in St Cloud may be easier to get to.
MaryZ, I was down the mountain every day this past week, except for Monday, and several days last week.
The owner of Above & Beyond wasn't surprised to see me.
He told the lady that also helped me, that I would be back. I picked up the embroidery unit and the tote they included. I then realized that I don't have any thread or stabilizer to play, so I bought 4 cones and a variety pak of stabilizer.
I then picked up the MH and it's back at the RV garage. I stopped at my favorite QS in Loveland, just to look around. I did buy a FQ of 30's fabric that might help repair the quilt my Mom made Amanda many years ago. It was 5 when I got to the house. I was going to make Oregano Chicken Salad but found that I didn't have Mayo. Well I did find Mayo in the back of the fridge, but dated 2023. So we had Domino's pizza.
I'm watching the sewing shows now. The only place I need to go today is the grocery store and maybe I will check out the local QS. I will play with the new toy after laundry is started.
I'd like to get a haircut but everyone charges $70 or more up here. What do y'all pay?
Remembering those who gave All for our freedom.

Re: Saturday May 24th, 2025
Good morning. Happy Saturday. I remember looking forward to the weekends when I was working, and now, to quote my dad, "Every day is Saturday, and every meal a feast"
Yesterday was a great day. It was decided that I must have been dehydrated and am doing well now. I feel so very much better. Before my appointment I cleaned the parents house. I also got a call from my CPAP doctor who had an opening and I got in to see him. I need him to update PG&e so I can take advantage of the medical equipment discount on my monthly electric bill.
Lori, so nice to be the sole heir, that way you can take your time with things. When I was the executor for my grandma I had to answer to her three daughters. I kept notes on everything each one monthly updates, and a binder to put the updates in. I'm glad you aren't rushed.
Judi, it must be a man thing. When Jerry died I cleaned up his garage and got rid of so much junk. I still have lots left. Now that my dad comes here I clean off the work bench, he fills it up, I clean it off and so it goes.
Maryz, sounds like Foxy is quite an acrobat. Nice to have a scratch to remember the event. My pictures are all in a tote, most are cardboard backed taken by a photographer, some are tin. Guess it was before they printed pictures on paper. My plan is to whittle them down so I can use a much smaller tote. Rich can had down to Elliott the family history stuff.
Lois, I've never been to a fabric warehouse but it sounds like a place to get lost in. Hope you come home with some great finds.
Jana, MZ told me how to sew binding by machine on my quilts, I tried it and never went back. It's so time saving. I love it. Nice to have the kids come get their stuff. Marilyn has a plan to come get her stuff some time, heaven knows when, using a uhaul. We will see how that goes.
Maryq, Enjoy your day. And if you decide to go to the nursery, I hope you find some beautiful flowers.
Lyn, I get my hair cut at Great Clips. I pay $22. Sounds like you scored at Above and Beyond. When do you get to go to your cabin next? Sorry about the date on the mayo. I found some Italian dressing dated Dec 2024 but decided to chance it. I won.
Dinner will be a roast in the crock pot which I will start this morning. I love a roast made in the crock pot because it shreds nicely. After that gets cooking I will do a few chores here and see where that leads.
You all have a fantastic day.
Chriss

Chriss, glad to hear it was nothing serious. A roast sounds yummy. They do shred nice out of the crockpot. I'm still trying to find the relative that I'm supposed to send the photos to, but I have a feeling the second letter I sent will come back too.
Lyn, I get my hairs cut at Fantastic Sam's and it's $30.00. I think way to much since it takes them 10 minutes to wash and cut. Glad you skipped the chicken salad. Have fun with the new machine. I love the big bobbin.
Maryq, nice to have friends that care more about you than the dust around you.
Jana, putting binding on by machine is definitely faster. I usually do it on charity quilts. Your ginger cat sounds like it was a fun cat. Molly was 20, and we had another one that was 19 years ago. Cats like to hang around a long time at our house.
Lois, hope you find something fun at the fabric warehouse.
Maryz, I'm on the 5 year plan with my Vintage Tin. I don't want to rush anything. Jonathan said he will say a few months. He's trying to avoid the crazy TX heat. Silly cat. I don't think I have a piece of furniture in the house without a scratch or teeth marks in it. I'm okay with that. I love my furry kids.
Well I worked on a closet up the street yesterday. It's in the office and was filled to the brim. I still have a little bit to go. My goal is to get the office cleared out so I can use it instead of the dining room table.
It's going to be a nice day today only about 72*. I'll go up and work on the room more today. Dinner will be teriyaki chicken and veggies. Maybe some pasta or rice.
Have a lovely day.
