Good morning,
JUDI - prayers go into the OR with your son and his doctors and nurses. I hope he has a quick and uneventful recovery. And no more foot races!! You got a lot of things accomplished yesterday. It feels good to be so productive. And mama Dove will probably get over her little snit. How is your Nolan doing? He's got his first year of school nearly wrapped up!
JANA - so sorry about Karlie's kitty. It's hard. But a new kitty will help to fill that hole in her heart. And I always love having two (at least!) at a time. Maine Coons are cool cats - I think it's the only true "made in America" breed. They can get pretty large, with wide eyes, ear tufts, come in lots of different colors, and have friendly personalities. I think your cobalt blue planter is beautiful! It's a striking color and will be a great backdrop to set off your flowers. I did some grocery shopping too yesterday = mostly fresh produce.
LYN - that's going to be a big ouchie if you have to replace ALL those batteries. My 'sources' tell me if one battery is bad it can drag them all down so if you took it somewhere to test them you might get away with not replacing them all, but at 9 years old, you've gotten good use out of them. Sorry about the graduation. Is he going to attend even if he's not walking? You could kick him all the way down the aisle to his seat.
MARY Q - So sorry to hear you've got fires, too. Fires are early this year and seem to be in more unusual (to me, anyway) places. Hope you got all your errands done. What an honor to have a bird nest in your little tree! We had one nesting in the wreath on our front door one year. I left the nest in the wreath after it was all over. I wear cheap clothes, too. The fanciest places I go is the grocery store. And how is your grandson doing with almost a year of college under his belt? You leave for WI tomorrow. I'm going to miss you.
Isn't that weird? Do you like your new haircut?
CHRISS - I'm with you on your house. Live there as long as you can/want. Ours is paid for, known taxes (going higher each year, though), and it's HOME. I don't want to move. But this developer is huge and they have a lot of power. And will pay a lot more than a residential buyer would. It's not tempting me yet, but it just might if they were to double their offer. For now, we'll just wait and see. I like to do my grocery shopping all at once, too. We do Costco and Fred Meyer and then I spend the afternoon putting it all away, washing produce, and filling the freezer. With the distances you have to travel, and the cost of gas in CA, I'd do ALL my shopping in one trip, too.
LORI - I'm too well aware of "incidences" with cats. lol! Just goes with the territory of being a cat person. But I don't think I could live without at least one. I've never not had a cat. One year when we were at our RV Rally in LaGrande, OR for 5 days, a pair of birds kept trying to build a nest under the slide of our fiver. Mama was so fat and kept up incessant tweeting at dad as he frantically flew back and forth with little sticks and grass, building the nest. And every day Bill would wipe his hard work away since we were leaving in a few days. After about 3 days they gave up and went somewhere else. We've also had birds nesting in our trailer pin box at home. New we're more careful about keeping that "unavailable" to them.
LOIS - did you get to your fabric warehouse yesterday? And did you find any treasures you couldn't live without?
Yesterday was a busy day for me. My acupuncture appt went well. They used 20 needles and I didn't feel most of them, and the few I did feel was just a slight pinch. Then you "relax" for 1/2 hour and they come back and remove the needles. The hard part for me is laying still with nothing to do for that half hour. I am a terrible relaxer. But my afternoon was completely pain free! My night - as usual - was not. My right leg is still running about a 5 on the pain scale from about 1;30am on. But hopefully this will improve. I go for another appointment next week. In sewing news, I have all my llamas together and the backing and binding ready to go. Today's project will be to trim, bind, and label NYB. I have one, maybe two more evenings of work to finish my embroidered "Over the River and Through the Woods" quilt and then I can start assembling that. I have all the FG and star blocks already made. Just need to put it all together.
Have a great day and hope you get to spend some quality time with your machines.

Re: Wednesday May 14, 2025
Good morning!
Rained a bit, about 12 drops, just enough to dirty a window! And the temperature dropped to 46 for the high. Today we should warm a bit too.
My house is in a state of entropy! What is entropy? It's a thermodynamic law, that everything will decay back to It's original state , fall apart, back to nothing. In three short days, my house is a total disaster! There's not a spot anywhere that doesn't need cleaning! Got a first round of the restocking grocery run done and now to put it all away. Grocery bags everywhere! I need to do laundry today, wash, fold and iron. Change bedding, do a window or two, or three, and dust! The wind the last three days, blew up from the south desert and rearranged the dirt here in the valley! Not as bad as Tina's dirt, but close! Mr G will help a bit. I had two beautiful hanging flower baskets, one we saved, the other, the wind totally destroyed. We had constant wind around 50 mph, with gusts near 70! Ethan helped haul in all the grocery bags. Then I put away the cold things, after checking, twice, to be sure I didn't miss something.
I was able to get Mr G's prescription yesterday, but mine didn't come in, so I need to get it around 3 this afternoon for that.
No sewing for me! Sarah was playing on her phone, looking at quilts. Found the JN seminar the day before, yesterday a Lori Holt quilt. Sent me a text and picture of one she wants to make. Well, I already have it started in the Batt Cave from awhile ago. All the templates needed, so Sarah was happy, she'll raid my stash of templates. Too many squirrels! They are running rampant too! I suggested that we find out the class schedule for the big quilt show in September at Thanksgiving Point gardens. Usually Lori Holt teaches a class or two. In the past Jenny Doan has too, but not this year. And Kimberbell stuff, oh, the trouble I'll get in! And my credit card tattles on me, before I get home too! The other day, I heard about, if you had a superpower, what would it be? Humm, mine might be, how to add extra hours to a day, so I could sew and finish all these quilts that the squirrels keep bringing in to my house. Oh, light bulb just turned on in my brain, squirrels are the culprits, the masters of the law of entropy! Now I'm really in trouble!

Humm, daughters too!
Well, I've stalled long enough,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning,
Never got to go yesterday to the fabric warehouse
But that's ok I went upstairs and quilted on the baby quilt it's almost finished so today that's the plan we already went to the chiropractor so that's where we are at today.
Today's dinner will be chicken soup it damp and chilly so it's a good day for it.
Well everyone have a great day.
Prayers go out to all
Lois

Re: Wednesday May 14, 2025
Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today.
The parents will be here at about 10am and I will take my step mom to the beauty parlor to get her hair done. She is pretty excited but has only called me three times to ask about it. I really need to find more things that we can do together that don't require a lot of walking. She doesn't like crafts, I'll keep looking.
So I am taking two antibiotics, one every 6 hours and one every 8 hours. I called the pharmacist and asked if I need to wake up to take them, no definitive answer. I called the doctors office, they will leave a message for the doctor to get back to me within 72 hours and let me know. By then I will be half done taking the meds. Oh well, what's a girl to do.
Lori, how is Miss Molly? What happened with that cat that was at your dad's house? Dinner last night was wonderful. The steak was perfectly cooked and Moose got the bone. I find things I had forgotten in junk drawers too.
Judi, kind of nice when your son needs his mama. Hoping the repair goes well and he heals completely. Now that your herb garden is planted the dove can relax with her babies undisturbed.
Maryz, I can't imagine you laying there for an entire half hour with nothing to do. I imagine your mind was racing with what you could be doing. When the subject of selling a house comes up, I just think of all the stuff inside and outside of the house. Just what is in the garage alone is too much stuff. But there is also a price that would make me move. Not sure right now what that price is, but it would have to more than pay for the next place.
Jana, we got quite a rain storm yesterday. I sure wasn't expecting it, but it was nice to not have to go out and water. Which LH quilt is Sarah wanting? I've often thought about the stuff I have here and how the kids will likely just sell it all after I'm gone. Sure makes it all less important, and puts it in the entropy category. While you are putting away your groceries and things I will work on cleaning my kitchen.
Lois, chicken soup sounds so comfortingly warm for the tummy. I wished I had the stuff for a hearty thick beef stew yesterday but wasn't willing to go to the grocery store for the ingredients.
Happy Wednesday,
chriss

Re: Wednesday May 14, 2025
Good Morning Girls
Another lovely day in Minnesota... Maybe not as hot--Yesterday we hit 90 today we will only make 80. Had to turn on the AC yesterday, but I think I can get by without today.
Judi... Hope all goes well for your son's surgery today... saying "if you want to" is a son's way of saying "I really want my mommy!"
Maryz... I haven't seen Bren since he got home from college--he came home for a few days and then headed down to Tom and Viv's to go fishing! I think he has to report to work on Monday--he works as a surveyor with Shawn's company--they are anxious to have him back! Yup, headed there tomorrow. I'm going to stop and see the baby on the way down and as I told Kris... my car has autopilot and may detour into a Joann on the way home. Though now you have to buy what ever remains on the bolt.
I did a lot of damage to the credit card there yesterday. Glad to hear the acupuncture helped, but sorry it's still a painful night. OH I hear you about not being a relaxer!!! I have to have something going in my hands at all times... a book, knitting needles.
Jana.... I am so chuckling at your entropy---as that is exactly what my house looks like this morning! When squirrels run around the house, this is what you get: pieces of fabric here and there, a dirty dish on the couch (forget to stick it in dishwasher last nite) pieces of yarn here and there, things out of place and of course the usual dust and dirt. I so agree.... a few more hours added to a day would be wonderful. I even would mind if I could go back a few years and do them all over again.
Lois... Oh please send some of that rain this direction. We need it so badly. Looks like we may get some on Friday. This is Minnesota after all where the weather changes in a heart beat. 80 today and 55* on Friday! Sorry you didn't get to the fabric warehouse.. maybe today?
Chriss....No you do not have to wake yourself up to take your meds. How early do you wake up? If you take the every 8h one say at 7am ,then take at 3pm and then before bed. They don't necessarily mean EXACTLY every 6 or 8 hours, just spread out throughout the day. A lot depends on how late you stay up at night. And it can be important too whether or not you needed to take them with food--some work better with food, some not so much. The most important thing is to take the full course. A lot of people take a few days worth, then feel better and quit.. only to get "sick" again later. It is so fun to find things! When we packed up my Dad's office in 2002, we found letters that his Dad has written to his Mom when he was stationed in France in WWI. I wish I knew where they were now!
Lori.... Oh yuk... cleaning up poop in the middle of the night does not sound like fun in any way!!! I know I wasn't happy about such things when cleaning up babies, but I know I would NOT be happy cleaning up after a Cat But then I'm not a cat person at all!
Yup, got the summer hair cut yesterday---think Jamie Lee Curtis, but not quite that short! I'm still able to curl it a bit so I don't look like a drowned rat. Stopped at Joann on the way and found a few things that I can always use--fusible fleece and interfacing. Send Viv picture of things I knew she would like, so I grabbed for her too. The word there is that there are completely closed by the 28-29th.
I think this is going to be a full-pot-of-coffee kind of day! Want to have the place cleaned up before I leave as it's no fun to come home to a messy house! Sheets are in the wash and I need to remake bed and then pack up clothes. Want to load up tonight to bed ready to hit the road in the morning--not early tho.
So I'm off!
Wishing you all the best, I'll try to peek in over the weekend!

Re: Wednesday May 14, 2025
Good morning, Open Sew yesterday went okay. I have received my two charm packs in the mail so will maybe cut the one I need for the Fall table topper. I also have to search for a piece of background for my Kira quilt as silly me, I cut one of the blocks wrong and there was no more background in the project bag. This is a simple quilt but you do have to pay attention. Once you do your cut, if you mess up, it is not fixable. You have to start from scratch on that block.
The other thing I found out yesterday is both my Continentals need an update. I have read through everything online, it doesn't look difficult but think I will read it a few more times. I also need to get a USB stick. You download the files onto your computer, move to the stick and then transfer to the machine.
DBiL did leave, thank you Jesus! I started using my CPAP last night, that did not go so well. I got through 4 hours but did not sleep. Took it off and fell asleep about 1 AM finally. I will keep trying though. Medicare requires you to use it for 4 hours 21 out of 30 days. There is an app that somehow connects to the CPAP that you can track your info. You also get certain points for certain things like leaving your mask on all night. I am at 69 out of 100 points. Barely passing! But just one night. It will get better.
Lori I sure hope Molly is okay. Is she an older cat? It's unusual for cats to go outside of the litter box I think.
Chriss usually when ATB are every 8 hours we give them at 6AM, 2PM and 10pm. 4 times a day 6am, 12 noon, 6 pm and 12 mid. Best if you can take them around the clock. I am with you though, pill taking is not the most pleasant thing. Don't want to mess around with infection though. Not sure how you would get this though. What a surprise. I would be less worried about the Meningioma. They are more common in women than in men. I don't recall if you said they would do follow up scans but I think it's a good idea. I am strongly encouraging your Dad to have a plan in place. It is really hard to deal with the repetative nature of Alzheimer's.
Maryq our weather is going to start heating up too. Looks like by tomorrow it will be into the 80's.
Lyn wow, 16 batteries, that will take a little nest egg? Our RV is older and is starting to have problems. We can't get the generator to work and many shops around here will not work on the older models. DH has not been able to figure it out either. Sorry about your grandson, but really come 10 yrs, people just want to know he has a diploma. The fact that he did not walk won't even come up. My grandson almost didn't walk. DS and DDiL kept harping on him, scared he wouldn't walk. I finally convinced them to make sure he knows the consequences of not getting the school work done, then leave him alone. He did get it together and walked. The important part is he gets the diploma.
Jana so sorry about Smokey. It's so hard to loose pets. I don't have any, have lost too many and just don't want to loose anymore. Yes, I would think you are more than capable of following a pattern. I am not taking classes right now at the shop, they are not really in the budget anymore. But have looked up and purchased some of the patterns and most are quite easy. I have lots of fabric to use up so no sense in spending the money.
Maryz the rumor is that the Dixon shop will close and they are tying up loose ends. No word about the billing yet. Rumors though are just rumors. I have suggested to some of the girls that until a formal announcement is made, best not to continue to spread them. Hoping your sciatica gets to feeling better. I have to say I was a bit surprised that you thought of selling your home. Glad you are choosing to ignore it for now.
Judi I am not sure I have ever seen a Dove nest. We do have doves here though I think. There is a wild life area here that is mostly for bird type life. Each February I think it is is the Flyway Festival which celebrates all the birds. We are in the path of wildlife flying south. They have put much time and $$ into restoration of the marsh lands.
Lois did you get anything at the fabric warehouse?
Well off to start my day. Have a garat day everyone.

Re: Wednesday May 14, 2025
My little old lady kitty Molly left this world this morning. I noticed on Monday afternoon that her abdomen was looked very round. I had changed her food recently and she was eating really well, but thought it didn't look right. Then the incident over night happened. When I took her to the vet, they did an Xray of her abdomen and it showed it was full of fluid that could be caused by many things none of them good. Instead of putting her though all kinds of testing to find out what was causing it, I elected not to. A vet came to our house this morning and sent Molly off to the next life. She lived with us for 19 1/2 years. She was 8 months old when she came to live with us. I miss her terribly. Jack was her buddy and he's a little out of sorts today as well. He was so very concern about her this morning. We did let the boys see her after she passed. That way they know she is no longer here. I've been putting her things away this morning and am amazed at how much stuff she had. She was well loved for so many years. I'm going to take today to just be sad. She spent most of her day with me and that leaves a big gap in my day.

Re: Wednesday May 14, 2025
Hi everyone!
I just got caught up reading. Sorry I haven't been around, I got lovely food poisoning on Mother's Day and man oh man was I ever sick! I'm feeling better today, a little on the exhausted side but better and I can eat today.
Our dove here build the craziest nests, I don't know how the eggs even stay in the nest as sparse as they make them.
Jana, I'm so sorry about Smokey
we're looking at having to do that here with Duncan and Sammy soon.
Maryz, I hope your sciatica gets better soon, I know what a pain like that is. Hugs π«
Valerie, we won't have any more animals either, I just can't get through this end part anymore

Maryq, enjoy your visit! Safe travels
Lyn, here they let them walk if they're that close but they don't get their diploma until they complete the requirements. They actually don't give out any diplomas here at graduation, they get mailed out about a month or so later.
I watered my stuff in my backyard this morning before the wind and dirt kicked up too much, we've been having bad dirt storms again. My indoor air purifiers send me alerts all the time that the inside air is harmful.
I have 1 of my yard kids painted all black for the undercoat, now I can start adding colors. My turtle that a gnome sits on needs to be done too.....I actually need to do them all so that's my project this year for outside. Kevin and family gave me 2 new ones, a huge frog planter and a big turtle planter, they're the red clay ones from Mexico and they are painted so I'm sealing them so they stay nice longer. Frankie is going to plant the grass seed tomorrow, we're supposed to have less wind till the weekend so hopefully it'll give it a chance to start growing so it doesn't blow away.
Games are cancelled for tonight again because of the wind and school is released early again yesterday and today.....we have wind and dirt days to others snow days.
Well that's about it from here.
I hope you all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina
Oh.....yes, I plan on doing the Christmas block swap this year, not sure if anyone is interested besides Maryz and Maryq, but please think about it, it's always fun!
Lori, I am so sorry about Molly
hugs to you π«

Re: Wednesday May 14, 2025
Good evening to all.
Hugs all around to y'all. I have read posts through the day, but don't remember all your doings and needs.
Lori, Hugs, it's hard for us to do the right thing for our pets, when it's letting them go. A friend sent me an email, years ago, that was a Letter from the pet, which said when it came to this hard decision, the pet wants you to take care of them, as you always have, in their best interest, because you Love them and they know that.
Tina, So sorry to hear you had food poisoning. Did y'all go out to eat on Mother's day or was it something y'all bought and fixed at home?
I think I have our financial stuff figured out for the next couple months to spread out paying for it all. Amanda and Maddox arrived this afternoon to 35Β° and SNOW. It's sticking high on the Mtns. Been on and off all afternoon.
We had beef stroganoff wrapped in crepes and corn for dinner. Yummy and more low carb than noodles.
Plans for tomorrow, going to the Zoo in Denver, DGD will join us.
God Bless All.
Lyn
