Monday May 12th 2025
Good morning I was up early got bread in the oven and started laundry. It will be a busy day today I will head up to the Farmers market for flowers for the front of the house...Since I cannot dig in the flower beds I will just buy potted plants to go on the porch...I will also get a few herbs and pot up an herb garden in a large pot to use in the kitchen,,,. I also will go up to the dairy store for milk. Then if I have time i will stop at the HL for some border fabric for the quilt... The closest quilt shop in too far to go today, When I get home i need to put together my new bird feeder It was a birthday gift from last September that i never ordered,,,it came yesterday,,,I do love watching the birds,,,and feeding them but the squirrels keep dumping my bird feeder and making a mess,,,the new one has a baffle to keep the squirrels out,,,I know they need to eat too,,,but I have an abundance of bleck walnut trees here and they have plenty of food...and they are all fat so they need to stay in the back yard and the bird feeders are in the front...
Well hope your day is full of adventures like mine,,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning from St Francis, KS.
I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. We had brunch with Amanda and Maddox, then drove up here to the NW corner of the state.
I'm rearranging this morning before driving on to the RV garage in Colorado. I need to have everything that's going to the house in the Jeep, so we can unhook and the manager of RV/Boatel can park the MH in the big area of the building. I best get to it.
Y'all have a good day and prayers for your needs.
Lyn

Good morning!
I'm still in Utah! The wind blew so hard yesterday, that I thought the whole state would be picked up and moved. Everything else was! Watching out to the east, I saw a neighbor's deck covering go flying through the air and land in another neighbor's yard, a good 500 yards away. That wind is now someone else's problem.
Not much here for me to do. Just a Dr appointment, in the early afternoon. Matt brought me a plant to add to the yard. A hydrangea. It looked rather forlorn, as it needed a good drink of water. It's back to looking good this morning. Now to get it in the ground. Wants morning sun and afternoon shade, so somewhere on the north side of my house, or by the deck on the east. Daniel came by too, with another chicken to add to my collection. I have quite the menagerie - chickens, roosters, flamingos, sheep , a bear, and a cow. Oh, a cat too.
A few Monday uglies to do and then what's left is my playtime. One big ugly is getting a new budget in place. So not in the mood for that!
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Monday May 12th 2025
Good morning,
Monday, Monday...... The start of a very busy week for us. Between the two of us we have 10 appointments in 5 days. And next week will be almost as busy. I feel like I'm running a gauntlet, or maybe shooting the rapids in a paper canoe.
LORI - we are cooler than usual but seems everyone else is warmer. Texas is going to be seeing several days in a row over 100 degrees - which is breaking records for May. And my DD, Lara, and her hubby, Lee are retiring and coming back home. They've been living in an apartment in Alexandria, VA for the last 6 years while he finished up his career with the Naval Shipyard. They are buying a large fifth-wheel and truck and going to full-time RV until they are ready to settle again someplace. Their truck and RV have been ordered from our local dealerships and their household goods are being shipped on Thursday to us and everything - the stuff, trailer, truck, and kids will all arrive probably around June 7th. They will drive their car across the country and I think they are selling it to their son, Drew, when they get here. We have room for their trailer and Bill will probably haul it here for them from the dealership with our truck. They think they'll be here about a week after the trailer arrives so they can move their stuff into it, visit friends, their boys, and then hit the road and start their retirement life seeing the country.
JUDI - Sorry you were so sore yesterday. But I bet your yard is looking nice! I hope today you are better. Maybe a hot bath in Epsom salts or a cup of vinegar added to the bathwater is in order. But breakfast out sounds good, too. And I hope you can find the fabric you are needing. I'd share some of mine, but florals is one fabric (probably the only fabric!) I don't have much of. We thought we'd solved the squirrel/birdfeeder problem by putting our feeder on a clothesline rope and running it out about 10 feet from the house. Nope. Those squirrels figured out how to walk the tightrope and got to the feeder!
JANA - I hope your deck is finished soon so you can enjoy some summer living! I didn't know Kate had left FD and was trying something new. I'm sure that job was a load of stress. I hope she enjoys her new career. A bummer about Mr. G's toe. Is it broken or just hurt? I'm anxious to hear about your BP visit. Mine was pretty high when I was in the ER last Friday at 4am - 186/90. But by the time I left 2 hours later it had dropped almost back into my normal range of ~133/80.
MARY Q - I hope you got all the calls, dinners, etc that you were hoping for yesterday. And I'm with you - I love sewing outside. But if there's even a slight breeze it's a bad idea. We were up in the mountains once, parked in the woods next to a a river. I set up my machine and iron and we used generator for power and I was happily sewing away when a bit of a gust came along and blew some of my quilt pieces into the river and off they went! Also, when I bought my machine back in 2018 is specifically stated that if I ever used it outside it would void the warranty. Dust, you know. Are you leaving Thursday for WI? You told us, but all I can remember is that you were waiting to clean house on Wed so it will be clean when you come home.
CHRISS - I hope you are feeling less anxious about that little tumor. Sounds like they are not uncommon and require nothing more than monitoring. Nevertheless, I'm keeping you on my prayer list. I never buy charms. I can never figure out what to do with those little bits of fabric except make yo yo's. Do you just sew them together randomly or do you try to arrange them in any kind of order? How were the parents yesterday? What is dad working on now?
DIANE - sorry your BBQ got washed out. But I'm sure you had a nice visit with family anyhow!
LOIS - your weekend sounds blissful! Kids, breakfast, shopping, sewing! What was the gift your son left for you? I LOVE German Shepherds! Five weeks is pretty young to leave mama dog isn't it?
LYN - you are almost there! Can you smell the barn?? Save travels to you!
Yesterday we cleaned house in the morning and I got all my llamas finished in the afternoon. I'll start sewing them together today. Also, our friends who are realtors are coming by about 10am just to evaluate our house and property so IF we were to consider selling, we'd have more info to make informed decisions. My leg still hurts some, but the steroids are really helping. Pain level, on scale of 1 to 10 with ten being the worst, is down to about a 3. I tried for a dr appt but earliest I could get in was July 29 so I bagged that. I saw the ER doc, my chiro, and tomorrow I'm going to try acupuncture for first time. My problem is like sciatica though according to my chiro not a true sciatica. That term is kind of used as an umbrella term for angry muscles that go down the leg. I was moving a loveseat to make room to lay out my NYB for photos 11 days ago and that is probably what did it. I have chiro appt at 0900 today.
I might get time to trim NYB today. When I had it out on the floor it measured within 1/8" on all sides. (99x109). It will be on our bed by the end of the week!
We got a surprise face-time with Amara yesterday. Antonio is SOOO good about sending photos/videos of her every single day and then the occasional face-time. She was pretty busy using sidewalk chalk on their patio but stopped to smile at us every now and then and jabber a bit. "I got chalk" was about all we understood.
I hope you get to empty lots of bobbins today!

Re: Monday May 12th 2025
Good morning everyone. 24 more hours and DBIL goes home! Same issues as the last time he was here. I was talking to my DSIL (other brother's wife) and she thinks he may be on the spectrum somewhere. He just doesn't think like a normal person. She has had to deal with him to from time to time.
Saturday was the memorial for DH cousin. Hadn't seen many of the attendees in years. Some in 25 years. Let me tell you, 25 years really ages a person. I have always thought of Karin more than the others as her BD was only 2 days before mine. When we were younger we used to vow to always have a joint BD party but sadly that never happened. After the memorial we stopped in Dixon on the way home. The May Fair there is always Mother's Day weekend. I hadn't been there since I was a child. We stayed long enough to see the quilts and other handcrafts. One of the LQS workers workers won Best of Division. Another lady I quilt with won a first place so that was exciting. Then we went and had some fair food, went to see the animals and then home.
Yesterday I finished my Jelly Roll race and then spent a long long time trying to figure out how to use the quilting part of my machine. Could not figure it out. I will have to call Skip and see when he might me able to come show me. There is some issues at that shop, his partner is retiring and trying to sell her part. I am not sure what will happen. Skip has another full time job so can't run the shop full time. When I went and picked up my BOM, they gave me the whole rest of it. It was supposed to last through November. I am not sure what will happen with the billing. It was supposed to be billed monthly. I am praying they don't bill the rest all at once. $360!
I have sent an email to my Dr about the jury duty. He is not the easiest person to get ahold of. I don't think he works full time. Seems he is off a lot. I may just have to show up and take my chances. A friend of mine has given me a few suggestions as to what to say so you don't get picked and how to answer those questionaire's they have you fill out for serious cases. Since this is Vallejo, it could be a murder trial.
It 53* now, high of 62. Cooler than the last few days. We have had some light rain but I think that is done. Winds starting at about 4 pm. Hand is cramping, started last night, I think it has just been over used. So I will sign off for now and catch up some more tomorrow.

Good Morning Girls
Here we are again... another new week!!! Not sure what Mother Nature is thinking but she sure is making it HOT up here!! 90* today!!! With luck, I'll won't have to turn on the AC just yet. It's supposed to cool down later in the week and I hate to start it for just a few days! I think I can tough it out. I could just set up a fan I suppose.
Judi... You have bread in the oven already!! I'm lucky I'm up and dressed!!! Those darn real squirrels, I can't tell you how many times my Dad would try to build the perfect bird feeder that the squirrels couldn't get to!! Do you ever scoop up your black walnuts? Is there much of a difference between black walnuts and regular walnuts? My dad used to order black ones from California to put in his fudge every year!
Lyn... Doesn't look like you have too far to go today. How long will you stay in CO before you head north again?
Lois.... I keep thinking of that owl baby quilt and it's just so darn cute!!! I'm going to remember that one next time I need a baby quilt--tho I think that might be a ways off from now! I did order the wall hanging and might start that next week.
Jana... Hope all goes well at your Dr Appointment!!
Maryz... Yup, I'm headed down to WI on Thursday. I was going to ride down with Kris, but think I will drive myself. I'm going to stop and see Miss Norah on the way. Might stay until Monday morning and stop at this place called "Horsefalls" on the way home---it's a huge variety store with all sorts of fun stuff! How exciting for Lee and Lara to start a new adventure. I know my DB & SIL have been enjoying their "nomad" life---tho they do have a permanent home now.
I started typing this at 8:10... it's it now 10:10-----I got a little distracted!
Better get butt in gear, kitchen needs attention and if I remember correctly there is a load of towels in dryer
Wishing you all the best today!

Re: Monday May 12th 2025
Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today. We should be below 80.
I opened the house up early this morning, and loving this crisp cool weather. It's nice to sit here under a quilt with coffee and you all.
I got calls from my dad and both kids yesterday. While it would have been nice to get together I enjoyed my day here.
Today the parents will be here, I need to deposit a check so perhaps my stepmom and I will travel to town to put it in the atm.
Lori, I'm reading "it's ok that you're not ok" by Megan Devine. It's about grief and things people say or how they act, and so far it is so true. Saw the painting of Wrigley on FB. Very cool.
Judi, it's like we are twins. I love the birds, but the squirrels are not loved by me.
Lyn, glad you had a nice Mothers Day. How old is Maddox now? happy travels.
Lois, so nice that you have that machine and can quilt your own quilts. I bet that puppy is adorable, give Luka an ear fluff and belly rub from me when you see him.
Jana, sounds like a zoo in your yard. I love hydrangea's, they remind me of my grandm, what color will yours flower?
Maryz, so glad you got to talk with Amara, the queen of the chalk drawings. If she only had bubbles she'd have it all. You are at the chiro by now and home relaxing. Yeah, I'm not as concerned as I was about that tumor thing. I will have it monitored and go from there. But boy, the words tumor and brain in the same sentence is scarry. I have a million (slight exaggeration) 5 inch and two inch charms. I just sew the 5 inches together randomly and the two inches are for hexi's which are also random. Someday I will have a colorful hexi quilt and a colorful 5inch quilt.
Valerie, I have never been on a jury, I have been called to come serve many times but have been told not to come because it was settled before the trial. Hope you figure out that machine. Might want to set your alarm so you can be sure DBIL is out of the house and on his way. Maybe even take him to the airport the night before he leaves.
Maryq, I often get distracted when typing, Marilyn has been texting me while I've been trying to type here. I love that girl. You asked for sunshine and you've got it. guess the heat just comes along with it. Enjoy your shopping at Horse falls.
I really need some breakfast. Not too sure what to have. and once again no clue what dinner will be. I guess I have decided to be indecisive.
you all have a wonderful day,
Chriss

Chriss, the book sounds like a good one. Grieving doesn't end, it just changes over time. You don't move on, you move forward. Peoples reactions to things are all over the place. I like when people say, "if it was me, this is how I would react." Honestly you can think you'll react that way, but in reality of the moment you never know what your emotions will bring up. When people ask me how I would react, I always say, "I don't know, I can't predict the future." I just try and make the best out of most situations. We're only on the planet for a short time. Your step mom will become unmanageable at some point. Does you dad have a plan for that? Maybe you could guide him towards one.
Maryq, I hope you can make it though without the A/C. We had to turn ours on. It was 99 on Saturday.
Valerie, It's nice to see people you haven't seen in a long time. How fun to get to see the quilts and know one of the winners.
Maryz, that's a lot of appointments. I was wondering if your leg pain was connected to your sciatica. Sometimes it will travel all the way down my knee to my foot. I can usually knock it out with Motrin. I've never tried acupuncture before, but would. Let me know if it helps. Hope you get some relief from the chiro today.
Jana, I have hydrangea. They are so pretty when they bloom. The ones on the north side of the house do best. I have some on the east, that do okay. Glad you didn't blow away.
Lois, glad you had a good day. I love German Shepard's. They are very loyal dogs. The puppy ears are so cute when they start to grow.
I need to go to the bank and go though the safety deposit box today. I should also fill out some paperwork for dad's estate. I've been dragging my feet on that. Don't know what's for dinner just yet.
Have a lovely day.

Re: Monday May 12th 2025
Home from my dr appointment. Starting a BP med. Pharmacy out of stock, so will take the first dose after getting it tomorrow. Saw the vampires too, they took a bunch of blood for testing. The Dr did tell me I can add Voltaren to my arthritis regime of Advil and Tylenol with arthritis meds. So no dental surgery for a couple of months. The Dr wants my BP down and stable first. I have a target number of 135/80. Right now, it's running at 180/80. We'll get there.
