Sunny, but only 36° at the moment. 🥶
Minnie and I are snuggled under the comfort quilt on my recliner, with a cup of coffee.

Our friends are early risers and have already gone over to Newmar's campground and got our favorite spots, right across the street from the service center lounge.

We'll go over after it warms up. Our appt is for the whole week.

I got some cleaning done yesterday and will do more today.

Valerie, I think my CPAP goes up to 8 or 9. Like Tina said, it starts out low and slowly raises. I hope you can adjust to it, they really do help.

Judi, Happy Anniversary! Was dinner good?

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning,

Today is my brother, Jim's, heavenly birthday. I sure do miss him. We were very close - kind of like twins separated by 13 years.

LORI - I love your little quilt. I recall you making it. At least I think I do because I've seen it somewhere before. Did you use a quilting pattern when you quilted it? It suits the quilt purrfectly and is beautifully done.

VAL - funny - I find when cleaning and doing other tasks that I don't have to think about is when I really like audio books. But when I'm driving I can't follow if there's traffic at all. I've seen ads on TV about a CPAP device implanted sort of like a pacemaker. I know nothing about it except for the TV ad. Does your RRT say anything about that? I think I'd rather have restless nights than wear a mask. Are you starting to seriously plan your Sept trip yet? Turns out, if nothing stalls our plans, we will also be doing a cross-country trip, leaving home soon after Labor Day. It's a trip we've been planning since we got married. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we ran into each other some where along the way. Our route will be kind of a slow zig zag seeing friends, relatives, and places along the way, ending with holidays in Texas before coming home in January.

TINA - good news that your insoles are helping your feet. Expensive, but worth it if they fix you up. So, does the doctor say this is a permanent issue for you or is it correctable?

CHRISS - so just how big of rocks are we talking that you have in your yard? The rock we stole was about 2x2x2.5 feet. HEAVY! Now there are some nice rockery rocks over there that I'd like to have. They are much smaller so we can lift those into the tractor bucket. The new owners (a development company) told us we could take what we want so I guess we're not actually stealing them. I never heard of a company that comes and harvests rocks but sounds like a great business. My nephew did some bulldozer work for us years ago and he dug up 3 rocks about 4 x4x4 feet and placed them around our yard with the dozer. Can you tell - I love rocks! Bill used to have an app on his old phone that let him know when our local EMS was activated and what kind of call they were going on. But for some reason the app didn't transfer to his new phone.

MARY Q - your patches are done?? Another sweet and monumental charitable project in the can. But it's exactly what I've come to expect from wonderful you! Yes, Vicki's house was demolished not long after the squatter OD'd. We were told a few days ago that development will start anywhere from 2 months to a year from now. Not looking forward to that. When I applied for SS, I was told since I'd had 3 husbands plus my own work history I could draw from whichever total overall earnings was the largest. Which was Bill's. Mike and Roy didn't live long enough to make a lot of money. And my job was mostly part time. But your benefit, drawing from your DEX doesn't detract from his own benefit or that of his new wife's should he die. Also, I learned that to draw off an 'ex' you have to have been married for at least 10 years.

JANA - I'm glad Andrew is happy with his assignment. But I'm not sure I can wait 2 more weeks to find out where he is going! Did you find a new happy home for all those wonderful toys?

LYN - so happy you are getting your SS adjusted upwards! Sounds like your appt went very well. Nice steering system you have in your rig. When do you have to be in CO for graduation? And you still plan to go to Canada this year? I think you mentioned that this might be your last year. How will you get your boat back home? Nice you both have so much in common with your friends who are parked next to you. Bill also used to do competitive shooting. My nephew did it for years - maybe still does. At one time he was top in the nation at some kind of event. He's won several Glocks. We had the misfortune once to be invited to his house only to learn it was to move his 6 ft tall gun safe - up a curving stairway! Ugh!

JUDI - I hope all your unwanted plants will have new happy homes soon. I envision your strip along your fence to be lined with rocks (I know where there's some good ones!), gravel down, and a few pots of pretty flowers set on the gravel, maybe some deer statues, and a dead log or two, perhaps a gnome here and there. It will be nice to have your yard work simplified. And how is your garden quilt coming along? Happy Anniversary Eve!

Yesterday I got the second NYB triple border about 75% completed. Then I went out to help Bill clean and organize our shop (24x36 ft separate building from garage). This is where the truck, tractor, wood splitter, lawn mower, work bench, etc all live. But Lee & Lara are retiring in a few weeks and their household goods are being shipped here so we needed to clear out space and clean it all up. Then I moved into the yard. We've had so little rain that our dirt is almost like cement. We have a bit of rain forecast Tuesday. I hope it happens. In my mind, I've kind of divided the yard into 13 sections that I can clean in a half-day. I've got 3 done. I hope to have 5 done by end of business today. I plan to spend the morning working on my borders - finish the bottom one and start on the longer, side borders. They actually are going together more easily than I'd anticipated which was a nice surprise. But they are time-consuming! I'm seeing the light at the end of this NY tunnel!

Enjoy your Sunday! Be blest!

MaryZ, The graduation is May 15th. Going to Canada the second week of June. As for the boat, it has to be stored on the U.S. side because of an insurance change which they didn't really explain. If we decide this is our last year fishing Lake of the Woods, getting the boat to Texas will get figured out.

Break over, more cleaning.

Good Morning Well thank you for the anniversary wishes ( My anniversary is tuesday 59 yrs my father said I would be divorced before e knew it, my Mom loved Ken) But we will go to dinner on tuesday my anniversary gift will be hearing aides,,praying they turn out well,,,I was very anxious to get them and be able to hear better but as it gets closer I have a little anxiety about something new...
Yesterday was a great day ti be out side,,,A lady I never met but I answered her request on facebook for hostas..I have a yard full of them, So she came and dug up an entire bed full and loaded up her car,,,I showed her a different kind to dig up next trip. She might come back today but I kind of told her to get these in the ground and watered, so we shall see,,,I showed her what to dig up next time if I am not home...She lives about 2 miles from me and had just bought her first home and loves hostas...If you have trouble with slugs eating your hostas you put a tin or dish of beer in the garden apparently slugs are alcoholics,,they crawl in the beer and drown...I have more trouble with wasps eating the leaves...but since I have my house barrier sprayed they seem to stay away. ( My nephew is a bug guy and he puts a barrier spray on my house bugs wont come near it so they stay away from the house and foundation, but it is harmless to the polinators...
After the young lady left ( she is youinger than my Colleen) I was going to clean up the beds but got into the garden shed ( fondly know as the barn) and OMG! Ken was in so much trouble..but I started throwwing things away and clearing all the stash out of there,,,( the squirrels invade the barn and live there rent free all winter they shred paper towel and bring in hundreds of black walnuts to feast on all winter,,,the mess is outagious but there is reallt no way to nkeep them out, so I started the iviction process and spent much of the day hauling out old junk ken thinks he will need one day,,,we have a truck load to go to the dump since it will not fit in the pickup cans. There is Liams stuff in there too..pieces and parts of things, much of it is going so i can find a rake and a shovl when I need,,,
So today more of the same...if I can get the guys to move the heavy stuff. Hope you are having fun,,(I actually love this kind of work...but I hope to get back to sewing today some time. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo

Good morning!

Supposed to be a rainy day here, that's quite fine with me. We always need the water. Free water for my yard is a good thing!

The toys have been corralled and ready in the donation pile. Judi reminded me about our barn. I need to do some eviction too. Not squirrels, just kids stuff. When Aaron and Kate built the new house, much went to Sarah's house, but they ran out of space there, so it went into my barn. Daniel wants to organize the barn, so who's junk is there, needs to be gone. There's stuff from all of the kids!

Church is a bit later. We are doing four hymns today, all I know well and are easy. I like easy!

The house is in order and all the laundry caught up. Sarah decided that I need to help her sew some skirts and shirts. She has a hard time finding things that fit. She has a dress form and makes her adjustments to the patterns and I'll sew. Sarah likes buttons, she'll do those! One of my old activity day girls got married yesterday. On Thursday, she, the bride, went and took photos in her dress and some how broke the comb that holds the veil. She needed me to re-attach the comb, but my fine eyesight skills are non-existent, so Sarah did it for me. Took all of 5 minutes. The bride's father knows how to sew, but the bride said no, I want Jana to do it. Nice to be loved!

Well, time to get going,

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

for some reason, I just could not make myself get out of bed this morning, but finally the bladder won! No nice bright sunshine this morning and there is rain on the way which is fine with me --- April Showers Bring May Flowers!

Lyn.... What do you guys do while they are working on the MH? I'm guessing your friends have one too so can you kind of visit at each other's whey yours are in the shop? I see big MH's on the highway around here once in a while and I always think of you when I do.

Maryz.... Only about 5 more patches to stitch out today, after they are all stitched and trimmed I just need to iron some black fusible interfacing to the back and they will be ready to go. Then I can get back to the other zillion projects I'm in the middle of!!! First Up I have to get the borders on the wedding quilt so I can take that to Viv in a couple weeks. No Rain in Seattle? You may have to go out in your back yard (where nobody can see you  ) and do a little rain dance.

Lois... Bagels for breakfast? With cream cheese!!! Oh how I miss bagels--it would be so great if they could make them without carbs!! I do love a good bagel with thick cream cheese! You've got the baby quilt going already. Did you have to go buy fabric for it or did you have it in your stash?

Judi.... Did you drag Ken out to the barn and give him little talking-to? I have to say, that if I'm in the right mood cleaning out a space like that is kind of fun. I'm waiting for the right mood to hit me to clean out my furnace room. Today is not that day! You must have been a baby when you got married! Yikes 59 years! That's amazing! And your dad said it wouldn't last!!

Jana... Doesn't it feel good to have the donation stuff OUT of the house. I try to keep a box handy to toss things in as I run across them, once it's full I usually take it to a faith-based Thrift store near me. I only take good stuff that I know they can sell. It's a fun place to shop at too as they have quite a bit of craft supplies and fabric!

Chriss.... Do you use the brodcastify on your phone? I looked it up on my computer but really didn't get into it. With all your yard work etc I bet you haven't had much time to sew have you.

Well, in between typing thoughts here I've been going back and forth looking at the news online. Do you ever think that the world has just plain flat out gone crazy!!!
If I'm ever going to get those last patches done I better get going--need a coffee refill first

One more quick question. Do any of you guys have the Kindle Unlimited plan with Amazon? I'm debating about signing up for it. They have a deal for 3 months for only 99c. Thoughts?

Have a great great day everyone!

Good morning. What a soggy beautiful day today is going to be.

The plan to volunteer for the friends of the library didn't happen due to the rain yesterday, we are supposed to meet at noon today and so far it hasn't been canceled. My feelings wouldn't be hurt if they cancelled it but the job needs to be done. When I am done there I will do very little grocery shoppping.

Most of yesterday was spent sewing. I was able to piece a back and sandwich the crib quilt I'm making. Hoping today I can start on the quilting and get the binding ready. I found another quilt top that I made with some babyish fabric, I want to sandwich it as soon as I figure out what I will use for backing.

I also went through the stack of batting I have. I have a pile that is too small for anything but pot holders. Perhaps that will be my next adventure.

Tina, hoping that in future years you get a little more rain to tamper down that dust. I wonder if your dad's cpap machine might need to be checked out? Mine starts at 4 and can ramp up to 20. But it will adjust itself to my needs. My old machine ramped up too, but didn't adjust like the current one does. But it never came off of my face unless I took it off.

Lori, I did use a heat gun on that stinkin' chair. and it worked, but seemed to also sort of burn the wood a bit. I bought a different brand of stripper and if it doesn't work I give up. It's either I conquer the chair or it wins. I will gladly admit defeat. I love your newest quilt. I'm imagining you hanging them all on a wall, like an art gallery. Like your mom, I used to buy all the colors when I finally found a shirt I liked. Now I usually get my shirts in a thrift store.

Lyn, I am also snuggled under a comfort quilt with my coffee. Moose won't fit in this chair with me, but yesterday, during the thunder, he and I sat in the other recliner, not sure it made him feel safe but he was almost in that recliner before I could lift the foot rest. Hope all gets fixed and tweaked during your week long appointment.

Maryz, are your kids going to travel when they retire? Will they be selling their house? The part of my rocks that stick out from the ground range from small to really big. Not ElCapitan big but big. No telling how much of them is underground. I have an app that the sheriff and fire department use in emergencies, I get an alert. Not sure how that implanted cpap device would work, I've seen the ads too. I don't think I want anything implanted in my body if I didnt have to have it implanted.

Lois, do you make sandwiches using bagels? Hope they were good, I haven't had a bagel in such a long time. We are also having tshirt one day sweat shirt the next weather.

Judi, I laughed at your slugs are alcoholic's comment. Guess that explains my ex. He certainly became a slug. way too funny. Glad your new friend is finding plants she loves and that you are getting rid of them. win, win. Dang squirrels. It's a continual war with those rodents. They are digging under the cement in my breezeway, wouldn't want them to go around the long way. There are squirrel traps but the law says you have to trap and release them elsewhere. Like there aren't other squirrels to take their place. Happy shed cleaning, what fun, hope you find a treasure.

Jana, isn't it something how the kids think storing their things at the parents house is a thing. I have a lot of things stored here that belong to the kids. They havne't seen the stuff in years, and don't want to come and go through it. UGH. Yes, it is nice to be thought of, that gal who wanted only you to fix her veil must think highly of you.

Valerie, I have found that if I use my earbuds and am doing something mindless, like working outside, I will hear the audio book or pod cast. Otherwise, I just zone the audio off and think about other things. We did get a ton of rain yesterday and it included a lot of hail. I haven't gone out to visit my tomato plants yet, hoping they survived. I can't remember exactly but I think it took a couple of weeks for me to get used to using my cpap machine. For me it was a life saver, I hope it ends up working as well for you. Did you get your spaghetti sauce? Sorry your friend won't get help, hope the quilt helps some.

Maryq, I use Broadcastify on my laptop but I bet you could get it on your phone. I don't have Kindle unlimited, but I'm not really a reader. MZ told me about Libby, it's a library app, you can listen to audio books or read books on your device, and it's free. I love it, sort of makes her off the hook for all that empty bobbin stuff that happened recently. If you look at Amazon and have prime there are free books that you can read that are available with a prime membership. Yes, I do think the world has gone crazy. When breaking news is where everyone got to sit during the Pope's funeral and other who cares news items, it's crazy. So many real things going on and who sat where is insignificant.

Last night was my spaghetti squash with sauce, and that just might be brunch for today. I have chicken tenders thawing, not sure just how they will get cooked up, probably air fried with some broccoli and cauliflower rice.

You girls have a groovy day,
Chriss

Good morning everyone, 48* now but likely going to be in the low 70's. After a few days of cold it will feel good. Maybe the strawberries will pick back up. I have a respiratory appointment at 8:30 so can't stay long.

Chriss did you get to the library? I spent a good part of yesterday sewing. Got the second MC almost done, need to do the last seam and sew the white border around it. Then only 2 more. That will be my home project for the next lilttle bit. I think I will take the guitar quilt for open sew. I did not get my spaghetti sauce. May try again today. I did order though some onion and garlic substitute. I found it on Amazon.

Maryq those darn bladders, mine wakes me up too.

Jana years ago I went to a wedding for DH family. WE got there the day before the wedding. The guys had picked up their tuxes and low and behold, 3 of them didn't fit. I spent the evening lengthening sleeves, pants hems.

Judi hope you had a great anniversary. I am glad you are getting new hearing aides. I have been considering it. Not sure what insurance will cover. I am not sure we have hostas here. UHM, I need to do to my garage what you did to the barn. I so believe DH is a horder. Yes, we have lots of stuff too we "may need some day".

Maryz the TV ads are about a device that is surgically implanted. I do not think I want to go there right now. I am doing okay the first part of the night, but once I wake up, I just have a horrible time getting back to sleep. I will quickly fall asleep though if I take the CPAP off.

I have been thinking about the September trip and will start thinking more seriously next month. I am hesitant to make to many reservations in case things change and I can't be where I initially planned on any particular day. I will have to pick a date though for Washington DC as those reservations have to be made 30 days ahead. I will have to look into the Smithsonian also. MIght need specific reservatioins for that also. Wouldn't that be fun if we met up on the road somewhere.

Today is Mad Monday, we make charity quilts. I will go to my appointment and then come home and get things together. I have a binding to make and then will start a new quilt. I try to only sew on these charity quilts on Mad Mondays.

But for now, need to pack up the CPAP and get myself in gear. Have a good day everyone.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!
