Thursday, April 17
Good morning,
Our last day of camping. I think it will be a lazy day in camp and starting to pack up this afternoon. I hope to finish up my last NYB block except for the one with the missing piece of fabric. It has to go home to be finished.
Tina, it will be a big job to fill your pond with a wheelbarrow. What kind of fence do you have? Would it be easier to take a section of fence down and use the tractor for the entire trip with the dirt and skip the wheelbarrow? I remember when my parents were raising six kids. My dad would come home from work and dig out our basement with a shovel and wheelbarrow and take the dirt about 100 yards out and dump it. It took him years. It was a big basement but he dug it all by hand. You guys are doing the reverse bringing the dirt IN by hand.
Chriss, that was scary the guys that were kind of creeping you out. Too much of that goes on these days. $2.49 seems kind of a lot for celery. Was that per bunch or per pound? The thing I can’t get over is radishes. They are $1.59 a bunch at our Fred Meyer. I stopped buying them. They don’t add that much to a salad or a veggie tray.
Lyn, did you get the steps and skirting all finished? Are we done now? Can we play?
Flo, what kind of cake did you end up making? I used to drink my coffee with cream and sugar. But when I got pregnant the first time I couldn’t handle coffee at all and when I finally could drink it again I couldn’t handle it sweet. 54 years later, I still can’t handle sweet coffee.
Jana, your brother-in-law owns two planes but does not have a pilot license? That really seems a little odd to me. How old is he? My brother Gene used to own a plane but he did have a pilot license. A bush pilot. And what kind of new cheesecake have you come up with?
MQ, did you finish your little girl quilt? You are really knocking out your “gotta have done by such and such date” quilts.
Judi, will be nice to have that permit on the days you need it. Is that extra furniture gone? I sure could use a tall narrow bookcase. My Quilting books and patterns are starting to take over valuable real estate in my sewing room. So how are you handling the sawdust with your fresh paint? I hope there’s not a “conflict” there.
Lois, is your DH‘s neck improved? Better not let him see the honey do list for a few more days.
Valerie, $2700 for your boat?!! But like a land RV, they only break down when you are using them. We usually don’t use our 1-ton puck-up unless we are towing our trailer. So I guess it’s could be considered part of our RV. We had to replace $6000 turbo last November. Fortunately, after we paid off our trailer, Bill kept making payments into an account to pay for such things. But it was still a hit to our savings account.
Lori, did you get the binding on your patriot quilt? Are you working on UFOs? Something I plan to do when I get finished with my NYB. Judi and I were discussing UFOs the other day. Usually, I don’t have any but got behind a couple years ago. I have swaps and lotto and things have mounted up. I think I have about 10 now. Blocks I made last winter in Texas, but have yet to put together. Also have two quilts waiting to be quilted so really is that my UFO or can I put them on Bill’s list? I like potatoes on the grill, too. I slice them up with butter& olive oil, onion, cheese, salt, and pepper, put them into a foil packet on the grill. Delish.
Yesterday, our friend Bob came to visit. Our supper lunch – lasagna, garlic bread, and salad, went over very well. Bob left about 2 PM. Tex left at 5 PM. I was the only woman listening to five hours of man talk. We covered trucks, tires, RVs, and repeated the cycle. No sports. None are particular sports fans. But like I’ve mentioned before, I got a lot of embroidery done “listening” to them! This morning will be machine sewing. If I get this block finished, I will start sewing some of my blocks together. And I just happen to have half of my design wall with me that I took to Texas for my quilting class and we forgot to unload when we got home. That will make it easier to keep track of how the blocks are oriented.
Going to make chicken tacos for dinner tonight using leftover chicken from two nights ago. We will be leaving early tomorrow morning to go home. Annette will come down and join Tex for a few days and they will come home April 23rd. She has been sick, but I guess is feeling better.
Group hug to everybody!

Maryz, sounds like it's been a good trip. No, I didn't get the binding on. I haven't been sewing. Too many other things to take care of.
I'm meeting a friend for lunch today. Then I need to find some documents for an appointment next week. Chicken enchiladas are on the menu tonight.
Have a lovely day.

Good morning it is sunny and will get up to 60 today,,,I am baking bread 2 loavestoday one will go into the freezer. Second rise is in the kitchen. I did get some cleaning done in my bedroom the furniture was dusty...so got that done then a friend called and wanted to chat,,,so there went an hour .
It did get the next block out for my garden quilt,,,this block is sewn with piping and a piping foot...I forgot how to do that so later I will look that up and "relearn" that new trick. It is an applique block but only the frame is piping,,,10months will then be done..2 more after this,,,I will need to buy the border fabric as I cannot find it here,,,must have used it for something else.
I also have left over chicken to use today but I think we will just have that with fried potatoes and left over coleslaw...or maybe some broccolini I have too..
Hope you all have a great day,,,I need to run up to the market for some apples...seems the peach cobbler for Easter has been vetoed in favor of apple crisp with the ice cream...I will just have to make the peach cobble for Ken another time...
Well I need to get moving,,,the bread should be ready to bake and I need to comb my hair to go up to the store...hope you all have a great day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning Girls
Is anybody else having internet issues this morning? Took me a while to get on line to get here!
Looks to be a lovely day and the windows will definitely be opened up today!
Today is the day I promised myself I would go get groceries so that's on the agenda. I'm going over to Sara's folks for Easter dinner and am racking my brain trying to think of something to bring. From the sound of it, it looks like they have everything they need. Maybe I'll grab a bottle of wine? Maybe I'll bring some of my cheese bread---frozen bread dough with chunks of cheese.
But first a mad dash to the fabric warehouse to get some fabric for the backing on the Alaska quilt, what I sent with Viv wasn't big enough!
Maryz... Seems like you just got to your campsite and now you are packing up to go home. I just have to put borders on baby girl quilt. It will measure about 50" square so I think I can quilt it myself.
Lori... I can only imagine how much you have going on now. Were you POA for your Dad? Probably lots of paperwork etc? Chicken enchiladas? I'm coming to your house!!
Chriss... You are so right.... I tell Jen that allllll the time!! Be aware of what is going on around you!!! There are areas of Anchorage that she just will not go to. Every city has those places I'm sure. I don't think I've been to downtown Minneapolis is ages and NEVER at night!! Yeh for a new weed whacker!! My drill needed a new battery once... it was cheaper to buy a whole new drill than just the battery! Ended up with two drills! (hmmm wonder where they are now--I suppose Shawn inherited them)
Lyn... Nice that your boat is now LEGAL!
Do you still have a boat parked up in Canada? Will you do a lot of fishing up there this year?
Tina... You sure have a big project going on down there! too bad there isn't somebody with one of those little back-hoe things (I forget what they are called) It's going to be a tough project to fill the hole by the wheelbarrow full.
Judi.... Your homemade bread sounds so delicious! I'm sure it's much better than frozen bread dough! I've seen videos about making it from scratch, and it really doesn't look all that hard. Maybe I'll grab some yeast at the grocery store, just in case I get the urge to try it!
Speaking of grocery store, I better get in gear.
Wishing you all a wonderful Thursday

Re: Thursday, April 17
Good morning!
Raining at the moment and probably most of today. Supposed to be clear for Easter.
The funeral is happening on Saturday afternoon. So Sarah and Joseph are leaving tomorrow morning at 5 am, for Concord. Ethan is staying here with me. And with Sarah leaving, the backup Easter dinner plan is now in place and will be here at my house, Ethan will be my helper. He'll help me setting the table, and fixing food. I have a plan in place to do a bit each day. Kate and Aaron will hide the eggs. Matt and Crenda are in St George and won't be here until late Easter afternoon. Menu is easy , so it will come off. I hope. Sarah is staying in San Ramon, where Joseph grew up. Not far from Concord.
So shortly I'm heading to get groceries, in the rain. I won't melt! Home and make the kitchen gluten clean and start prep.
Jim, our BIL, has the two planes and when he bought the first, planned and started work on his pilot license. The first plane needed work and that mechanic didn't do what he should have- another story. But in the mean time a beautiful plane, flight ready became available, so Jim bought it. A Tri-cor Pacer, I think that's the correct name. Then health issues raised their head and sort of smashed his dream, but he hasn't given up totally. Jim just turned 74.
So the Batt Cave may not see me for a short time,
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Thursday, April 17
Good morning. It's going to be a perfect day for working in the yard. A little breezy and overcast, it won't be a hot 65 degrees.
I never made the crock pot granola yesterday so that will be on my todo list this afternoon. I'm also still chugging away at that jigsaw puzzle, I bought it used and found two extra border pieces. I really hope I don't keep finding extra pieces, that would be frustrating.
Maryz, listening to the men talk was like an audio book play. You had a front row seat. Glad the lasagna was a hit. that cost was for one bunch of celery and it wasn't really pretty. I will be in Mariposa soon and look at their celery. Mariposa has hit and miss produce. Safe travels home.
Lori, glad you have time to find your documents. Hope you are finding everything you need and are having success at accomplishing each task. It will be nice to have it all done but things just take time. I also haven't been sewing much. I'll get back to it but just not yet.
Judi, when peach cobbler isn't going to happen I will gladly settle for apple crisp. I think peach or apple anything is good. I made chicken parm last night with my chicken strips, it was marvelous. Are you making that garden quilt that uses up all the different feet on your machine? Carole sent me that pattern.
Maryq, after thinking about it I bet the guy in the truck thought he knew me and wasn't sure. At least that's what I want to believe. I don't like to be in town after dark, and rarely am. I'm pretty excited about my weed whacker. It should be here on Wednesday. Yay you for two drills, you could use one for each hand. Deviled eggs is my go to thing to take to a dinner. If not deviled eggs it's another appetizer kind of a something. Happy grocery shopping.
Jana, always good to have a plan B. When I used to cook big for holidays I loved having it at my house so I could wear slippers all day.
So there's this black furry cat outside, Moose hasn't seen it yet. It's looking for a date and doing that "hey, I'm available, look hither" meow. Do only girl cats do that or do boy cats do it too? Anyway, it's really a beautiful cat. Hope it has it's babies here and they feast on squirrels when they are old enough to do that.
Dinner last night turned out to be an amazing chicken parm. I have leftover sauce and leftover chicken and could do it again or cook up the spaghetti squash and add leftover sauce and call that dinner. Plenty of choices.
You girls have a fun day, I need to get to work.
Chriss

Chriss, we have the same weather. It should only get to 63 here today.
So yesterday we found standing water in our yard. Bill and the gardener spent 45 minutes trying to figure out the origin. It wasn't coming from our water, it's the neighbors behind our neighbor to the west. The house is for sell and no one is living there. The neighbor called the realty company, but nothing was done. I I just got off the phone with the water company and they will come out and shut off the water.
Jack has been walked and Wrigley is out with dad now, so the boys are good. I need to hop in the shower and get ready for my friend.

Re: Thursday, April 17
Well, Aaron's at it again!
Seems as if a pickup truck traveling on a city street, was going at a high rate of speed, ran a stop sign, hit a jersey barrier and a parked car and ended in a man made lake, Oquirrh Lake, in a planned community named Daybreak. The truck landed upside down in the water. Maybe about 6-8 feet of water. South Jordan PD quickly called for mutual aid and Aaron was right there, almost on scene as it happened. So in the water Aaron went, worked and finally got the door unstuck and opened , seat belt undone and pulled the driver to safely. The driver was listed in critical condition. The hospital, where we did PT is less than two blocks away. And they have a helicopter pad. So that's today's excitement! At least Aaron lives close, about 2 miles west from this scene. And it was cold - not just raining, but snowing and stuck on the ground during this incident! So he could change into dry gear.
Aaron just called with more details - he was just leaving his office, for home, quitting time, and got another call to another incident. This time it was a semi truck, loaded, running a red light, and broadsiding a car. Not a good call. So he's just now heading home, after 8 hours on these two incidents . OT is handy.
