Post by grammiequilts » Mon Apr 07, 2025 4:30 am

Good morning It is sunny and still cold here, Still winter coat weather. I need to go out this morning for and audiologist appt. hearing aides are covered by our insurance and I found I am not hearing as well as I used to so I will find out today, Ken of course cant hear diddly but he wont go, When you get a husband did you know ears are optional..and are sold seperately.???
I am still plugging away at the blocks...#4 after frogging itt a few times is going ok...perfection is overrated anyway,,,
I am stumped as to what to make for supper tonight,,,but after my appt I will stop at the grocery store to pick up a few things and hope i get inspired. if i dont there is leftover taco meat in the freezer and mexican rice,,so it could be tacos or tostadas, or taco salad...all sound pretty good.
well I hope you all have a good day,,XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,,

Good morning,

It was an early morning for me today. So here I am! Waiting for the coffeemaker to do its thing.

Today our little Kumquat turns TWO years old! I believe the kids went camping in Loisianna to celebrate the big day. We are going to send her a short video later of her Nonnie & Pop singing happy birthday to her. 💗

JANA - I'm sure the little girls have a lot of fun decorating everything at your house. I would, too! I'm kind of little and I'm a girl. Put me on your decorating crew! Your special breakfast sounds just that - special! But maybe a little too sweet for my taste. Though I certainly wouldn't mind giving it a try.

LYN - could that Ziplock be in your car perhaps? Under a seat? or in the console? Someplace where you would be able to grab it first? I sure hope they turn up soon. Could they have fallen out of the trailer when you opened the doors and are laying underneath? I think this calls for a serious talk with St. Anthony. Happy Birthday to Garry!

MARY Q - happy birthday to Corinne! I remember turning 16. I thought I was all grown up and knew everything. Turns out I wasn't and I didn't. And if I ever did know everything I've forgotten it all now. Was the shower fun? Glad she got so many nice things. I haven't been to a baby shower in a lot of years. Kids do have funny names for things. My kids always called pajamas "bunnies". I don't know where they got that. When it was bedtime we called out, "Time to bunny up!"

DIANE - good to hear from you and that Joe liked his quilt. How is he doing? Aren't you going to L.I. for Easter? And Joe and Lily's birthdays?

CHRISS - Sounds like your Grandpa had a ganglion cyst on his wrist. Historically people would hit them with a heavy book, like a Bible. Hence the name "Bible Bump" was given to this cyst. But I think a board would probably work just as well. Today, the preferred method of treatment is to surgically remove them. Glad you have discovered audio books. What cozy were you listening to? If you are weed-eating I can see why the ear buds are working well for you. I listen to audio books (mostly cozy mysteries) constantly but use my 'buds mostly when we are in the trailer and Bill wants to watch a movie or read. But I can never get the right bud to stay in my ear so I usually just use the left one.

LORI - oh yes, the flowerbed is all Foxy's. Until now. Now he has to share it with a row of iris - if they survive my less than tender gardening care. And if there's no reason to rush with Dad's house, it's great that you can deal with it in your own time. It's been a long journey for you and I think some Lori time is in order.

JUDI - We tend to keep extra paint if we still have those colors in the house. If the can is nearly empty, we open it and let it dry out. Then it can go to the dump. Otherwise we have to take it to the hazardous waste place. Glad your embroidery is going better now. How goes cleaning the storage room? Is Ken helping or is it better if he's distracted somewhere else? Yes, I've heard ears are optional when ordering a husband. What is it with men - Our friend, Doyle, is always asking everyone to repeat what they say. But he REFUSES to consider hearing aides. Bill isn't as bad as Doyle, but he also refuses to admit he can't hear as well as he used to. Your Mexican options for supper all sound good to me. I was thinking chili over baked potato but I have leftovers to use up first.

LOIS - you must be on a spring cleaning roll. I hope you can circle back to sewing soon. You still have Mr. Snowman to do!

VAL, if you are checking in, I hope the fishing trip is going well for everyone!

Yesterday was rainy so we went to Costco. The parking lot was completely FULL so we came home and will go again another day. Drivers were following people to their cars just to get their parking spots. We didn't feel like fighting the crowds so we came home and I did 3 loads of laundry and worked on NYB. I have 5 blocks left to do. Yay!! I'll work on them again today. I made stirfry veggies over rice for supper. Maybe today I'll take those leftovers and make chicken veggie rice soup . . .

That's all I've got for this morning. Mind those bobbins now!

Good morning,

I did great yesterday I cleaned my living room walls with my spin mop and bucket it was so much easier then anytime I have had to wash my walls down so that room is complete.

Judi I hear you about men's hearing Bill doesn't hear completely but we are not covered for them
Bills sister and brother both have miracle ear hearing aids and both have had to go back so many times finally Joyce switched to an eye phone and now she's good and Eddie had to have his replaced because they broke.

Today I will do some wash and I think I will take a break from the cleaning.
Happy Birthday to Amerà I hope your day is great.
Lois

Mary z thanks for the reminder but I have the lone star cut out but there is more cleaning that needs to be done so while I'm able to do all this purging and cleaning that's what I will do.

Good morning!

A beautiful day , so far. Warming up to. The big parkas, have been parked away 8n the closest, not to see the light of day, until next winter! We can use a light weight jacket and be just right! Guess it's Goldilocks weather.

I have bunnies hoppin all over the house. The little girls put them hither and thither. They had fun and raided the candy jar too!

Today it's PT and a run to Costco. My new tools for the upcoming quilt are shipped, a good thing.

Mr G had the hearing of Superman! Note the operative word, had. In the days past, he could hear, the corona on the power lines outside the house. They make a humm of a cycle - it's a electrical thing. So he could hear extremely well. Our kids hated that, as he'd hear them getting into things in the house. Now, he's lost some of that, but still hears quite well. Part of his work days, the company did hearing and vision testing. Railroad rules.

Karlie flys home this afternoon. Daniel has been very busy with the finishing details on Sandee's basement. This has taken him a long time. And he's glad to be almost done. Paint is about all that's left. There will be a bit of sadness at Daniel's house. The little kitty, Smoky, isn't doing well. At the end of her life and has extreme problems, untreatable and in lots of pain. The vet said it's time, but they are waiting until Karlie is home to say goodbye. Smoky is a very sweet kitty.

So later on I'll be in the Batt Cave.

Got interrupted, I detest all these companies calling, wanting to update this or that, and want me to verify who I am. Who I am, no way, I want their verification! So I will call them, when needed, so I know who is who! Uggh! No way do I give out anything over the phone! Now just got off the phone, I called them, and fixed the upcoming order. Not word one about a new system they were supposedly upgrading too. Missed that phishing expedition!

Time to scoot,
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It is going to be a wonderful day today. We should see 70's for the rest of the month.

Yesterday I went to the nursery an got some more tomato plants and some onion bulbs. I put some onions around the tomatoes in one of the three planter boxes. It's an experiment. In the last few years I would buy too many tomato plants where less would do. And each time Jerry would say I bought too many, so why should this change. I have two cherry tomato plants and I think 6 other kinds of tomatoes. Today I will buy some cucumber plants to go next to the onions and that will fill the boxes without over crowding. I will either have the best tomatoes around or an epic failure. I also got some more weed eating done, I'm making progress.

Also yesterday was the one year anniversary of Jerry's death. I had my favorite meal. Steak with grilled onions and mushrooms, a baked potato un-poked, and bought myself some carrot cake cupcakes. Not really the dessert I wanted but out store in Mariposa is limited. I can see the added few pounds on the scale this morning so I will spend the rest of the week correcting that.

Load two of two is in the dryer. Today will be some light housework and, you guessed it, more weed eating. I enjoy mindlessly weeding and listening to something on my phone. I also think that a dog in this house stinks and could use a good bath.

Lori, I'm not loving the quilting like I used to either. I have so many things in my mind I want to make but getting my butt into the sewing room is a challenge. Glad you are able to take your time with your dad's house. the whole process is a job for sure. I really don't need anything at the sales either. Mostly it's a chance to hang out with friends. I'm pretty cheap and don't buy much.

Judi, I'd put all those taco fixin's and add refried or black beans and make a burrito. You made me laugh about the hearing. My dad has hearing aids but rarely wears them. My stepmom has Alzheimer's and asks the same question over and over. she asks or says something to him and he says huh? It's a tail chaser for sure.

Maryz, wow, two years old. Hope a happy birthday picture is posted so we can see her. A picture wouldn't completely exonerate you from the bobbin issue but it could help. That's the thing about Costco. It's either too crowded or you luck out and can get in and out quickly. I like the self checkouts, I usually don't buy too much so I can get in and out

Lois, I never thought about using the spin mop on the walls. You are brilliant. What did you use as a cleaner? I may steal that idea just like I steal your other ideas. I should hang out with you more often, I can learn things.

Jana, I often look at heavy jackets then remind myself, I don't need one here. Long sleeves under a zip up hoodie and I am warm enough. I own two sweatshirts and both are in pristine condition. No bunnies here, and no candy either. your house is much funner than mine.

The dryer should be finished soon and I need to get dressed and start my day. Perhaps I will go into town this morning and head on over to WM. and to Costco to fill my tank. I have no clue what dinner will be but it won't have any carbs. I really overdid it yesterday. I'm going to have to stuff my fluffy butt into my jeans kind of like putting a pillow into a pillowcase. then suck in the gut to zip them up. It's not pretty.

You all have a fun day,
Chriss

Good morning Girls

Well, I've watched all the news I can stand this morning and will go through the day hoping it gets better! Man what a mess!!

Judi... Year ago, probably when I was early 20's, I remember a news story about how all of us "boomers" were going to end up needing hearing aids because of all the loud music we used to listen to!! I get ads in the mail all the time for them, luckily I don't need them .... yet. When my brother first got his, he heard this funny noise and then realized it was the birds chirping that he had never heard before. So, if you get aids, just think of all the things you'll be able to hear!!

Maryz.... Happy Birthday to Miss Amara!!! Wow---here come the terrible twos!! Being there would be best but hope you can have a nice celebration on Face time! WOW only five more NY blocks to go!!!!

Lois.... Great idea to use the mop for walls!!! I use a mop to scrub the walls in my shower stall too! Not that I'm a fan of washing floors at all, but I sure do like the spin mop! Not sure what kind of hearing aids my brother has, but they connect to his phone and he can adjust the sound with his phone and they also serve as ear buds for his phone, so he can hear through them on phone calls!

Jana.... Oh I'm so with you on the annoying phone calls!!! Even the zillions of e-mails that come through on a daily basis, from different addresses all wanting to renew my AARP membership or offer me some new credit card all while giving them my social security number!! Not going to happen. Sounds like you are all decorated for Easter!!

Chriss.... Even tho I'm not much of a gardener, I'm kind of envious of your little garden for tomatoes and onions and cukes. There's not a whole lot better than a fresh tomato from the garden. Do you use a fertilizer on your tomatoes? Tom and Viv put epsom salt on theirs and have good luck, My tomatoes on the patio last year were one of the epic disasters. I found the wrapping paper this morning... St. Anthony must have been on vacation! It's just pink wrapping paper without looking like baby paper, it will come in hand someday. I should go put it under my bed in a box with my other wrapping papers, then I'll know where it is.

Diane....Oh we'd love to see Joe's quilt. Lyn can sure help you out, she's an expert at it!

Lori... You are so right, I don't what I'd do if I lost my phone... I couldn't tell you what my kids phone numbers are without looking at the phone! In my car I can just hit a button and say "Call Jen" I don't even to know the number! Sometimes you just need a break.... maybe find another hobby for a little while until your quilting ju-ju comes back.

Oh gosh, it's 10:30, and I think I've been on hold for about 20 minutes with MN DMV. I need to renew my drivers license and get the REAL ID thing, but don't know if I can just show up for it or if I have to make an appointment at the local DMV office. Thank heavens for speaker phones!

Since I was gone a good part of yesterday, nothing got done around here except that I made a mess cleaning out a tote box full of fusible interfacing and fleece, so now I must get that back where it belongs. After the shine up is done, I think I'll hit the sewing room. I have all the wedding quilt block pieces ready to stitch together and have dug out a cute jelly roll to do something with for another baby girl quilt! But to do all that I need more coffee and some rocking music!

Wishing you all a Marvelous Monday!

Good morning to all.
LYN--I didn't get your number. Please send it again. Thank you for helping. Me--I would do better back in the last century, this high tech floors me.

For example-last week I tried to delete so real old messages but kept all the addresses and POOF!!! All were deleted.

Today we saw the urol. and he said Joe is doing really well with the treatment. The next scan will be early on May 9.

I'll come back later to catch up.
Diane

Judi, tostados sound yummy. I haven't had those is a really long time. Bill has hearing loss, but his ear is damaged and a hearing aid wouldn't help. I just make sure I have his attention before talking to him. My hearing isn't what it used to be either. My dad's hearing was incredible until the end. I think because he worked in a quiet environment most of the time.

Maryz, Happiest of birthdays to the little Kumquat. I bet she is having a great time with mom and dad camping. Costco on a Sunday is crazy. I haven't been since the egg crisis, and I didn't even buy eggs. I do want to go to Costco to get a couple of folding tables for dad's house. I need a place to sort things.

Jana, I wish I had a decorating crew. I don't get verification over the phone, but I do get it in my email sometimes. I could say I'm anyone and they would accept it. It's really only verifying that you are a human.

Chriss, I was thinking about how you were doing yesterday with the anniversary of Jerry's death. You got though a whole year. I've gained a few pounds over the last 6 months and need to lose it. My pants are a little tight around the waist. I read that stress interferes with creativity. I see that. My mom was an artist and she stopped painting. I know why now.

Maryq, I have a little notebook that I wrote down phone numbers. I know Bill's and my dad's, but that's about all. Oh and all the phone numbers from work that I memorized years ago.

Diane, glad Joe is doing well.

Do you get surveys in your email? Seems every time we go somewhere or buy something, someone wants us to take a survey. Bill goes to CVS, and I get a request for a survey for his eye meds or whatever. It's ridiculous. I think surveys have taken the place of management. It's annoying.

I made a list and should get cleaned up and start it. Dinner will be orange chicken, rice, and broccoli.

Have a lovely day.

Good Evening Well hearing aides are ordered and I also have to go back and get the wx cleaned out of my ear...one side is pretty bad,,,not so as to impair hearing but he said it needs to be cleaned out before it does. It was tostadas for supper and all the mexican left overs are gone...I didnt know my hearing was as bad as it is...but part of me knew,,,The new hearing aides are very tiny and are rechargable,,,I did some research and they are the better kind for me and covered by our insurance...next I need new glasses...so does Ken, we shall see who wins tht race so far Judi 1 Ken 0 xxxxoooo
