Saturday March 22, 2025

Good EARLY morning,

I'm up I can't seem to sleep I guess it's going to be one of those days.
I'm making great progress on decluttering my sewing room have even tied up a bunch of magazines to get rid of the two cabinets I have are completely empty and are ready for the dumps so I have to see when that can be done I dropped off 2 huge bags of what was I thinking when I bought this fabric to goodwill I browsed in there but it's not my thing so Bill and I left.

Also found all my cards from everyone from when I shattered my ankle in 2013 but I will keep them .
Today I will see about this old cutting table I would like to get that out of here with the 2cabinets get rid of all three at the same time but it all takes time.

I hope Everyone has a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good Morning all It is cold again in the 40s all week. no snow but windy.
Lois congratulations on getting all that sewing room done...I have done mine and it is refreshing to come in there and know where everything is.
I got a text from Maryz and she and her sister arrived safely in Alaska.
We had fun at Colleens last night Liam had a nice quiet birthday, he likes it that way,,,
Today Ken will go and take Sophia driving, He is very good a teaching kids to drive safely, When I was a wee child my dad taught my mother to drive, She never had a car and as a young woman she took the bus or "streetcar" where ever they needed to go ( work shopping etc) .My dad took my mother to the cemetary to learn to drive because he said she couldnt kill anyone there, So today Ken will take Sophia to the cemetary to drive..Her mom took her out and said Ken should do it,,,she is not very good at it,,,but she will learn...it is hard to believe that she is taking drivers training already ( at 14) .
Today I will head to the basement to clean a bit...the floor need a good mopping and dust arrives daily..so I will be down there while Ken goes...at least thats my plan...and we all know how plans go.
I hope you all have a great day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!

Rained most of the night and now our skies are clean and purdy! The proverbial they say that by the end of the week, we will see 75! I would say, feel 75 is better!

Oh Judi - you gave me a big chuckle today of your Dad and Mom! Never thought of learning to drive in a cemetery before! We always took the kids to the church parking lot. Mr G loved the part about using the street car!

House is in decent order, so I'll be down in the Batt working on OWL. Finished going through the stash of dresses I own and have that ready for delivery to Deseret Industries. That's like Goodwill. It's a church organization and helps families with great buys and also employs those with disabilities. Saturdays there's a line of cars at the one near me to take donations. I have a trunk full of goodies for DI.

Well, off to get my day started,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning everyone 🌞
Lois, sorry you couldn't sleep, I hope you get a little nap in today.
Judi, wow 14 is young for drivers ed isn't it? I think here they can take it at 15 but they can't get their permit (to drive with a licensed driver) till they're 16.
Jana, the donation place sounds nice and I bet they'll be appreciated.
We're to have 20mph winds today and I'm really hoping it doesn't kick up more dust...it shouldn't 🤞
I have 3 loaves of banana nut bread to make this morning, do my PT exercises that I do every day at home, they take me an hour. I'm working on quilt labels too. Frankie is going to take the tractor to our driveway, we have drifts of sand that are dangerous for Dad to walk through so he's going to get that taken care of.
We're supposed to be 79° today and by Monday 85°
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need 🙏
Tina

Sunny and breezy, until the wind hits this afternoon.

Judi, Thanks for the update on MaryZ, I wondered about their arrival. Driving lessons, brings back memories of teaching my girls. One thing I did was take them to a big empty parking lot after a snow, so they could learn what to do if car started to skid sideways on snow or ice.

Lois, It sounds like you're working on a make over in your sewing room.

Tina, How's the foot?

Yesterday I got the coverlet layered. I hope to finish it as soon as the sewing Cabin is settled into.

So this morning has been different. I woke up just before 8 to find Garry not in bed. He was dressed and sitting in his recliner. The man who I have to practically drag out of bed at noon. He thinks he got up at 5 or so. The projection clock sits on the floor and points at the ceiling by bathroom door, it had fallen over, so no time on ceiling. He had eaten and taken all pills marked with a B, for breakfast. I count out pills for a week and today is my counting day. He missed 2 RX pills. And because he had already eaten he can't take his Thyroid pills which are very important. I hope the rest of the day goes better. I may start on the quilt my sister picked out when we shopped last July. I have some magazines to go through.

Hope you have a happy day.
Lyn

Good morning from frozen North Pole. We had a pretty good trip coming up here. The plane didn’t crash so I call that a good trip. And the car rental was about three steps from baggage claim so no difficulties there. The beautiful Northern threads quilt store in Fairbanks isn’t far from the airport. I actually only had to take one turn to get there. Talk about convenient! I bought the fabric I needed to make the border for my NYB. Some of it was from their clearance shelf so, I win! Then we drove out to our hotel in North Pole. My sister was not feeling well. She stresses a lot with things like this adventure so we just hung out in the room, watched a couple cooking shows and went to bed early with our books. Strange to think our brother is sleeping only 1 mile away and he has no clue. I did text him yesterday morning about other things and he said he would see us on Thursday. Huh?!! Turns out he is flying down to Seattle. No more details but I think he will pick up Terry and all her stuff and they will drive back up Alaska Highway. He never gives an entire story. He likes to leave his little sisters guessing so that is my guess. Would have been funny if we had ended up flying on the same flight back to Seattle.

It is 14° outside. Rental cars come with big electrical cords so you can plug them in. I didn’t because the hotel says nobody bothers unless temps are below zero. 14° is not considered cold here in March.

Lois, I could sure use that bookshelf you want to discard. I have plenty of books to fill it. Though I Don’t know where I would put the shelf. It’s a conundrum.

Judi, I can’t believe Sophia is learning to drive. Seems like yesterday you were so excited about this brand new baby girl!

Today I will connect with my niece and my nephews. Restaurant where the birthday party will be held is in same parking lot as our hotel. Convenient! In fact, one nephew will be staying at the same hotel. We will help decorate the restaurant party room this afternoon. My other sister even sent decorations, though she is not here herself. I have the decorations, my niece has worked out an entire scenario to surprise, my brother.

Well, that is about all I have for now. Will check in later hopefully. I am a very early riser and my sister is a very late riser so I quietly shower and slip out of the room down to the lobby where there is coffee. And pretty soon continental breakfast.

Mz
But no Foxy this morning. 😿

Good morning. It's going to be a gorgeous day today and should stay that way through the end of the month. Perfect work outside weather.

Today the plan was for Elliott to come but he is sick and they will stay home. I have theories but will not voice them. Funny, I have a friend with two grown kids, each has kids of their own. One of them says, heck yeah, you found that candy in the couch cushions, go ahead and eat it, dirt won't hurt. Or, it's just a cough, if she's not feeling better in a day or two we will go to the doctor. The other says, no, you can't hold the baby unless you wash your hands or, oh no, a sniffle, best go to the doctor now. Easy to spot the more calm stress free parent. And, both are doing the very best for their child.

I was going to go to a flea market kind of a thing instead but my friend doesn't want to go. I considered going to a couple of yard sales but I really don't need more stuff, unless I change my mind and then will need more stuff. My laundry is done, just needs to be put away.

Since the kids aren't coming today I took was was going to be lunch to my parents house last night and we had it for dinner. Dad doesn't like me to leave too much food in his fridge because he can't eat that much. Well, I can't either. So he kept some and I took the rest.

Lois, you are so lucky to have Bill there to help you move things. When I was emptying a room with a big heavy computer desk that no one wanted I had to take it apart with a hammer and haul it out piece by piece. I also never find anything at our Goodwill, but the local thrift stores have a lot of stuff

Judi, wow, Sophia learning to drive. My mind shows a picture of her sitting on your kitchen counter helping you make something and she is maybe 4? Glad the bday party was nice.

Jana, I think church run thrift stores are great. Ours has nicer stuff than Good Will and is a cleaner place to shop.

Tina, thankfully I did find a tv. a 55" Vizio at WM for $264. It should last the rest of my life, hopefully. Does that sand and dirt blow all the time or is it seasonal?

Lyn, happy counting day. One thing about Garry, he sure keeps you on your toes. I wonder why he got up so early? Nice that he didn't wake you while he bustled around.

Maryz, glad all went well for your flight, hope sis feels better soon.

I think I will go get dressed and get some dirt for the garden, it's early but maybe there will be some veggie plants I can try. Maybe hit a thrift store and then come home and weed eat. but first, breakfast.

No clue what will be for dinner, but I am not having salad.

You girls have a marvy day

Lois, I was sleeping really well when Jack wanted to go potty at 2am. I couldn't go back to sleep and tosses and turned. So I know how you feel.

Judi, what a great place to learn to drive. Dust arrives daily here as well. Thanks for the update on Maryz.

Jana, enjoy your warmer weather. Is your deck ready for you to hangout there?

Tina, we had some crazy winds in February and out patio furniture was covered in dirt. I don't know how you deal with it all the time. I have some banana's that need to turn into bread. Maybe tomorrow.

Lyn, did Gary think it was time to get up because he couldn't see the time? Some days I wish I could sleep to noon. Are you going through the magazines to look for a pattern?

Maryz, sounds like you all have coordinated well to pull off the surprise. I can't wait to hear how it goes. Funny that he's flying down on Thursday.

Chriss, well bummer the kids didn't come out. Maybe you can go there and see them this week. I saw the picture of you posted on FB. I can't believe it's been almost a year since Jerry passed. You've powered through a tough time. You are a strong woman my friend. Yes, there are different aspects of raising children. I was a "go play in the dirt" kind of mom.

Valerie, are you fishing or camping this weekend?

Well I didn't sleep much last night. Mr. Jack woke me up and I never felt like I went back to sleep. I went to a friends house for a pot luck lunch and games. We had some yummy soups, salad, fruit, and cookies. I brought dessert. I made oatmeal, chocolate chip, cherry, pecan cookies, and fresh strawberries with a light glaze I made with honey, and fresh whipped cream. Everything was delicious. We played a couple games and hung out a bit. It was a good day. I did go see dad this morning before I left. He's about the same. I have no plans for tomorrow, but I'm sure my day will fill up. Cereal was for dinner.

Sleep well.
