Morning
Yesterday was long. Up and out door early. We drove 3 hrs to Kansas City, Kansas to the Ikea store up there. We have been looking for couches down here fir 6 months and was not finding anything we liked under $3000. Score! Found a sturdy, comfy couch and love seat for about $1800..nice thing is the upholstery is removable to change or wash, so we bought an extra set in color we liked. DDIL spent day here babysitting my beagle as we thought we were going to gone a lot longer. So after she helped us I made a quick supper for us.
Today is the uglies I didn't do yesterday.

Good morning,

Today its supposed to be a little warmer so I have some wash that needs my attention and also still going through my sewing room I never new how much stuff one person could accumulate.

So I have 2 trash bags of folded fabric to bring to good will.

So that will take place this week
Flo you furniture sounds like it's on the order of lovesac furniture with the interchangeable colors that's wonderful.

Well I have to get a move on if I plan to get anything done have a great day and do some sewing for me.
Prayers go out to all.

Lois I donated all of my fabric stash to a church group that makes stuff animals for kids at childrens hospital and they were very appreciative....have fun cleaning out your sewing stash,,,I no longer keep much of a stash...What little I have left I will probably get rid of in the near future...there are a few pieces I will keep for projects I am still working on..

Good morning Girls

Man, I was sure hoping it would be a little warmer here today. I'm baby sitting the kids' dog Zara and was thinking it would be nice to take her on some walk-abouts, but I can hear the wind blowing and there is no sunshine here today. I heard talk of snow, but I think it will be way south of me. Alexa says we might get "0.05 inches". Guess that hardly counts!

Flo.... You drove 3 hours to IKEA? There's a huge IKEA store near the Mall of America---in my hometown of Bloomington, but I haven't been there in probably 15 years! I do remember the last time tho, that IKEA has some pretty cool stuff!!! If I could, I'd have those organizer shelves everywhere in my sewing room, but that would require a much larger sewing room! How fun to get new couches tho!

Lois.... Isn't it amazing the things we seem to collect. Every time I see a new sewing gadget I think I have to try it and so now I have a box full of misc gadgets! My sewing machine sits on an old desk that we had at our drugstore---with lots of drawers... who knows what's in all those drawers now! Might be a good TV watching project---to clean out all those drawers!

Judi..... Hope all goes well for you at the Dr. this afternoon---sending prayers for all good news. I'm guessing this is a cardiologist? I've been doing some sewing for the Bundles of Love, just putting 8" squares together for little quilt tops and sometimes I feel so bad because the fabric they have been given is so um um what's the word "crappy" . I know they like to make use out of all the fabric they get donated to them, but I keep thinking who would want a baby quilt with pictures of sewing machines!!! I had one batch that the fabric was so thin and awful and frayed that I substituted some of my own. Some of it is worse than Walmart fabric!

Maryz..... Must be ESP... Peg and I hit up Goodwill yesterday too! I too prefer the "Non-Goodwill" ones. There is a nice St. Vincent one just up the block from me but I haven't even checked that one out yet. Are you packed and ready for your trip? From SEATAC it's only about a 3 hour flight right? Glad to hear Scottie is doing a bit better.

Chriss.... Did Dad get lots done around your place yesterday? Does he live far from you? (You've probably told me before but I am sometimes forgetful   ) Did you recognize the fabric in the baby boy quilt? My goodness you did get a spurt of energy! That happens to me but not so often any more. I used to chalk it up to "that time of the month" but since that is long gone I rarely get that urge, and since sewing is much more fun than cleaning, I put off the cleaning as much as possible.

Lori.... I LOVE Riley Blake fabric!!! There's a gal on Facebook that has sales now and then of mostly RB fabric at about $5./yd. I've bought from her and her husband for years. One of only about 3 people on Facebook sales I trust.

Jana.... Sometimes you just have to jump in with both feet!! Glad you went for the kit! Oh gosh, that reminds me that I have a kit in my closet I bought in 2023~ I guess I should drag that out one of these days!!

Yesterday I was going to make a mad dash to Michael's to find stretcher bars for my needlepoint project and called Peg to see if she wanted to ride along---she's usually up for a trip to Michaels!  They had NO stretcher bars---online only. So we figured since we were close to a Joann we'd stop by and check it out. No really GREAT sales, but I did pick up a little more flannel for baby sleepers and a piece of fleece for a baby bunting---can you SEE the squirrels running around my house! And of course since there was a Goodwill within spitting distance we had to check that out too. I found a book, some darling baby things and an Artbin---as well, who couldn't use another Artbin!! All fabric is washed so the project for today is to get it all folded (It went in the washer before I had my jacket off!) and cut out. Found some fabric in the garage I could use for wedding quilt, so I might make a test block and see if I like it or if I'll have to find a plan b.

For now I better get in gear. I was up at 0730 to wait for Zara's arrival---what do you wanna bet I'll need a little snooze this afternoon!

Wishing you all a Wonderful Wednesday

Good morning!

Up, dressed and ready to go. I have a dds appointment shortly. Got Mr G fed and listening to his fussing over a prescription. That's a daily thing!

After my appointment, he has PT, then I'll finally be home, middle of the afternoon. Sarah worked last night at setting up both computers. Mr G was no help - he's not happy at the way computers have changed and gives us why, even when we don't want it. At least I have a semi-operating Quicken. We opted for the wrong version, and Sarah is fixing that today.

Just a FYI, about IKEA, you can order online and they deliver. So if the store is far away, it works. I've used delivery too and my store is close, a couple of miles away..

Time to get going, so not irn the mood, I could come up with better uses for today!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It's going to be a beautiful day today.

The plan is to go into town this morning and get myself a tv. I've narrowed it down to three brands, and will likely get it at Target since they are about the same as WM. Dad and I have already removed the old tv and Slim, who takes my trash, has already hauled it away along with the rest of my trash. I have 6 garbage cans and the last time they were emptied was right after Christmas. I'm not quite as trashy as I used to be.

Moose got his bath yesterday, but before he did he managed to track dirt on my clean kitchen floor. Crazy dog. I put his leash on and he headed toward the back door untill I steered him toward the bathtub and he jumped right in. He got a treat after his bath.

Tina, my goodness that is a lot of dirt. And you have a lot of places for it to gather. Frustrating I bet to have to deal with that so often, hoping the worst is behind you and you get a good rain to hold that dirt on the ground.

Lori, going through things is a slow process. You are likely finding things that bring back memories, good or bad, and some things you are just rolling your eyes at. Either way I bet you are smiling a lot. How is your dad doing? Is Hospice communicating better?

Maryz, I like the birthday story. I think I will buy myself a cupcake and celebrate everything that has happened in the last year. You're right, I am really doing pretty dang good. I agree about the smaller thrift stores being the best. Yay for Scottie, making the big turn around. Give him a belly rub and ear fluff from me. My DIL is also on a diet that includes no dairy. So, when they come to visit I am providing sandwich fixings, deviled eggs, and perhaps a pasta salad.

Flo, glad you found the furniture you wanted. I'd like to have a new set of living room furniture, but not now.

Lois, the laundry room is all yours. The other day I washed everything, bedding, quilts, towels and clothes. Not enough dirty stuff here to make a load, but next week we may need to share. I saw that Lovesac , its cool but pricey for me but it would be cool.

Judi, hope the doctor appointment is just routine. Nice of you to donate fabric to charity, especially kid stuff. I wish there was an IKEA near me, the closest is in Sacramento easily 2 1/2 or so hours from me. I also recently bought a set of glass food storage containers, no more plastic.

Maryq, you are a hard girl to keep up with. You always have a project, I need to start making myself do things, even when I am not in the mood, perhaps that will jump start me. Dad did get a lot accomplished here yesterday. He says he has some small jobs he wants to do then we will look at the rest of the windows. I didn't recognize that fabric for the boy quilt but am so glad it worked for you.

Jana, glad Sarah is on the job. Would be ncie if she could get in there while you and Michael are out, that way she wouldn't have so much help.

I need to get my tush moving. I really want to pick up that tv so I don't have to do it tomorrow. And, I'm out of tomatoes and cucumbers.

No clue about dinner. Yesterday I had a BLOAT salad. Bacon, lettuce, onion, avocado and tomato. Today's grocery ad shows an avocado at $2, not going to buy that.

You all have fun day

Chriss, I bet Mr. Moose feels like a new dog. Funny that he will get in the bath on a leash.
Hope you got the TV you were looking at. Which brand did you decide on?

Jana, my dad used to use Quicken, but forgot how to use it. I used it years ago, but just seemed like an extra thing I didn't need. Hope you get used to the new computers. Change is not fun as we age and our brains slow down.

Maryq, what kind of dog is Zara? Did you find the stretcher bags for your needlepoint? I have several different sizes, but not really sure where they are right now.

Judi, that's a good idea of where to donate fabric. I too use glass containers. Pyrex and Anchor hocking are American made. I also use canning jars. They are great for soups.

Lois, someone will be very happy to find your fabric.

Flo, sounds like the looking around paid off. Glad you found what you wanted.

Maryz, Kaufman warehouse is here in Orange county. A group of us went and they tell you about the dyeing process and where they are made. It's very interesting. I'm glad to hear Scottie is doing a little better. I bet that's a relief since your will be gone for a few days. We had a cat that would throw up every time we were headed out the door with our suitcases. As if to say, you can't leave if I don't feel well. And yes, every time. I've been to that mission, but never on the day the Swallows return.

So happy for the Astronauts that finally got home. I guess it's good to be friends with the guy who makes space ships and rockets. Went to see dad this morning while the nurse was there. He looks so small and weak. I don't think he will last the week. His heartbeat is very faint. I did a little work in his yard this morning. I think I'll take the afternoon and just go out and read on the patio. It's in the mid 70's and sunny. Might do a little work on the OWL later today.

Dinner will be chili.

Have a lovely day.
