Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone! We're all Irish today, aren't we? Though, in my case, I really am. My grandparents came from Galway, Ireland about 1875.

Scottie report: He is still with us and seems a bit improved. He is eating & drinking some and asking to go outside when he needs to. And the exciting part is that he needs to! He even made it up the stairs yesterday, and later he went down all by himself. He is 11 yrs old - 12 come July.

JUDI - you are so organized. I always think I am until I read about folks like you! Have you tried any Y seams yet? I was looking ahead in my NYB and it looks like I'll be needing to do some, too, on the center blocks which are different from the rest of the quilt.

LYN - that is a funny story about Vern! If they'd only known. Didn't you say you're leaving April 1st? Leaving for your house or leaving Texas for the season?

MARY Q - A wedding quilt! And two baby quilts! You are having a fun quilty year! And yes, there are more diagnostic tests they could do on Scott. One is a more specific ultra sound - $1,300 and another is a special blood test - $550. We've already spent way more than we can afford. And those are just diagnostic - not treatment. And he is almost 12 yrs old.. . . You eat talapia? Bill likes some fish but that is one he refuses to eat after he read how they are farmed. He's sticking with halibut and salmon. But as you know, he only gets it in restaurants.

CHRISS - I hope the stuff going on at your kids' house is all good stuff. A new baby really upsets a household until they all find their new normal. Has your dad met Elliott yet? I bet he is excited to meet his new great grandson! Does he have any other greats? A bummer about your TV. Funnny how we get used to the bigger screen! I remember many years ago I bought a console TV with a 'huge' new 21" screen! We were living large then!

JANA - a bummer that no one in the family can wear all those new sox! But somewhere there is someone who will be grateful for them. Nice that you have all those family treasures. And that your kids and grands also treasure them. My parents had nothing and we kids split it 6 ways. And then I had a total loss fire, so problem solved!

LORI - How many "months" do you have done on OWL now?

VAL - sorry about the tire expenses. I hope you really needed all new tires. Once a Firestone tire shop tried to tell my little sister (she was only about 20 then) that she needed new tires. She would have believed them except she'd just bought all new tires a few days before! But at least now you know you'll be running on good tread when you take your big trip.

Yesterday Pinterest got me. They know me so well. They dangled a pattern in front of me for a 48" Christmas tree skirt - and it's 6 different color cats all around the skirt - all paper pieced. Well, of course, I ordered it!

Yesterday we hit Costco for a few last minute things before my sister gets here this afternoon. I'll be making homemade pizza for them (with green crust, of course!) for our supper tonite. I was going to do laundry yesterday but decided to save it for today as I'll be downstairs anyway where the laundry duo dwells, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning the bathrooms. I should have a bit of time this afternoon to sew. I have Block #36 prepped and ready to go. It's going to be a time-consuming one so with company here, I may not get it finished for a while.

Well, I'm off to shower. Then I'll make Scottie's breakfast and give him his meds. I have chiropractor at 9am. Then I'll be home to start on all those last minute uglies I've been saving up.

B'gorra! 'Tis a fine day I hope ye all will be havin'!

Good morning and Happy St. Patricks Day to you all...Every one is supposed to be irish this day....I do have my emerald green shirt on today,,,
It is cloudy and cold here,,,typical...we used to go out on St Patricks Day to a favorite Irish Pub with some of our friends and now the pub and the friends are gone...so we stay home...I will of course be making corned beef and cabbage for my one third irish husband,,he loves it I just eat the veggies,,,not a fan of corned beef,,,
I am working on the embroidered blocks of the hexi quilt. The hexis are very large 4 3/4 in so this quilt will be a throw size with 72 hexis...they are not all embroidered and some have very small motiffs
Laundry is going and i just finished cleaning the kitchen,,,I will change the sheets today too....Ken didnt do it yesterday and i figure one day will not kill...he does it because it is my most hated house chore...
I hope you all have the luck of the Irish,,,Top of the mornin and the rest of the day to yourself.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
A little tid bit of info....In Ireland St Patrick's Day is not as festive as here,,,they consider it more of a religious holy day,,, but it is usually a day off from work or school, but we did have some corned beef and cabbage ( a german dish brought to ireland) when we visited the Emerald Isle...

We didn't venture out because we were having strong wind gust and I don't like to be on the road way.
Today will take a ride to Walmart to get my plastic 3 draw carts and what ever jumps into the cart  .

I will be making corned beef cabbage for dinner.

Have a great day.
Prayers go out to all
Lois

Good morning!

Windy, windy and more wind! Sorry, Tina, it's most likely heading your way!

Already been on the phone with Social security- uggh! Got a letter dated on the 7th, which arrived to me on Saturday, the 14th, stating iI needed to contact them by 10 days from the date of the letter or everything would be canceled! Bigger uggh, so I have already called, had to leave a voice message and now waiting on that return call. Thank goodness it's a recorded line, so I did make the 10 day deadline! We have a appointment here in the local office next week, already scheduled with the requested paperwork. Come on guys, we earned the money, just pay it to us! Jumping through hoops is not my forte!

Then add to my list of calls is Mr Grumpy's blood sugar meters. Again, government red tape and they won't ship until the last of the order is on his arm, so now we are watching for that to arrive and of course I must drop everything to take care of that! It's a calgon, take me away day! Oh, it's a PT day too.

While Mr G is at PT, I'll run over to the grocery store for a few things and then home. Daniel was over yesterday and put my new house numbers up. I ordered a fancy metal custom house number, it looks wonderful. Told Daniel where I wanted it, but before he permanently attached it, I went to double check. A good thing I did, he was putting on the wrong side of the garage door! I fixed that in a hurry. It's up and in the right place.

So the Batt Cave may not see me today. Dinner was to be corned beef, but I promised Mr G a favorite chicken and rice cassarole, that I have ready to assemble, so that will be dinner and the corned beef is punted until tomorrow or Wednesday. I put this cassarole off a couple of times already, so I have to make it now.

Hugs,
Jana

Top of the morning to you all on this bright and sunny St. Patrick's Day! With a name like Hanson you wouldn't think that I could claim to be Irish.. but me Mom's family came from County Cork, near the town of Dromcoliher. So I'll take credit for me Irish blood today! Can't say I'll be fixing corned beef or cabbage tho--maybe a little cabbage in a salad for supper.

Maryz.... Good news to hear that Scottie is doing a little better and can navigate the steps on his own now. We sure do love our fur babies and we don't want to see them suffer. I hope he continues to improve every day. Of course you had to get the cat Tree skirt kit!! It was invented with you in mind. Oh don't tell me how Talapia is farmed! AACCHH!! I do really like it--and salmon too. Maybe next time I'll try some Cod.

Judi.... I'm with you on the corned beef, tho I do kind of like the "Mary Kitchen" corned beef canned hash, tho I haven't bought that in quite a while--after I looked at the label closely for carb and fat content! You and me both----hate changing sheets!!! I'd even be happy if one person could stand on one side, while I do the other!

Lois.... Good luck at Walmart... things do just kind of fall in the cart!!! Katie and I stopped by there last week and all I needed was thread... how did my stuff add up to $55.! Oh darn that neat stainless mug fell in my cart. If anything says "On sale" or "Clearance" it ends up in my cart!!

Chriss.... Hope all is well at the kids house. Always an adjustment when a baby comes. I bet your Dad is anxious to meet his great-grandson. I suppose you have to go shopping for a new bigger TV now.

Jana.... How cool that you have all those family things. To me, it's not just having those things, but the stories behind them. I have about 1/2 of my Mom's china and my sis has the other 1/2. I just can't let it go because I know the story behind it, how she cherished every piece as she never in her life thought she would own china. I have some of her Waterford crystal goblets that she treasured as my dad bought them for her and she thought they were so rare and expensive. She wanted us to sell them and use the money for her funeral! I have a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt that my Mom's Mom started before WWII, that I inherited in pieces and put together. It's special because it's the only quilt my Mom remembers her mom actually buying the specific fabric for. So enjoy those family treasures.

Lori.... I wish I could take you all the warehouse!!! It's amazing!

So yes, Katie and I did run to the warehouse yesterday---I think every other sewist was there as it was pretty busy! I was a pretty good girl and stayed in my budget for the most part. All I really needed was backing for the Alaska quilt. If I get it all ready this week I can send it home with Viv when they come up this weekend. But I grabbed some flannel to make some little sleep sacks for baby girl. And oh darn, a little kit of fabric jumped in my cart to make the Popscycle
quilt similar to the one Lois made a while back. Any bets on how long that will stay in my "TO DO Pile"?

Plan of the day here is to get baby boy quilt quilted and the binding on. Then maybe cut out some sleep sacks and do a little cute embroidery pattern on them. We shall see how much we actually get done. If I can keep the squirrels out of here I should be ok!!

Time for more coffee!! Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all!!

Happy Saint Patricks Day.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Have been to the laundry mat to use the wash. Home now with clothes in the dryer. Was supposed to meet the old boss today to turn in my stuff but I haven't heard from her. I will wait a bit longer and then get on with my day.

Maryz glad to hear Scottie is showing some improvement. I think we really needed new tires. Last time I had the care in for its service they told me I would need them soon. The cut was about halfway through the sidewall so certainly couldn't drive that way. DH said best to just get 4 new ones so they all match.

Maryq no corned beef here either, DH doesn't like it and for just me, not worth the trouble. Yes two people to change sheets is so much easier. I would also like to go on the Warehouse trip!

Chriss hope things get worked out at the kids. Being a new parent can be stressful but maybe it's some thing happy and wonderful? It's important for your Dad to meet the grandchild. I am so glad my Dad got to see at least 3 of his GGgrandchildren before he passed.

Jana I have sad memories about my Mom's china. My sister initially took it and then decided she didn't want it.Since I couldn't get there as quickly as she wanted my too, she gave it to the thrift shop. I don't know that it was expensive or anything more the sentimental value. At their 50th Wedding Annivesary though they got several pieces of Waterford crystal and I have all that, plu many of her Hummels. Don't you just love SS!

Judi we originally thought we were Irish as my Dad's grandfather grew up there. Come to find out he was actually Scottish but moved to Ireland at the age of 2. So I don't think I actually have any Irish but maybe. I should do one of those geneology tests. Not sure how accurate they are.

Well I am off to check the dryer and sew a few stitches.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning. It's going to be a great day today. The rain will stick around most all day and I'm hoping to get caught up on my indoor chores.

I've been having a pity party and it's time to lean into it and stop letting my mind wander. I've decided that I need to pick up my bible more and worry less. I've also decided that I am not going to read the news that pops up on my computer. I sometimes wonder if all these stories that use words like Might, Could, May, aren't just lures to make a person miserable and anxious. I'm not going there. I'm choosing to be oblivious for a while, I don't want to take part in those mind games.

On the upside, UPS is pulling into my driveway right now and bringing my new cellphone case from Amazon. Also, next month, Verizon will be sending me a 100 dollar gift card from Amazon, perhaps it will go towards a new tv. When things seem gloomy things begin to look up. It really is good to be me, I just need to remember that more often.

Dad just called, they will be here today, and he will help me remove the old tv and tomorrow the man comes for my trash and can take it along with my other garbage. Win, win.

The Miwuks are planning their annual rummage sale and this week I will take them a load. Amazing how much there is to purge as you go through things.

Lori, I laughed when you said you will put the sheets back on the bed. For so long I had two or more sets of sheets and almost always pulled a set out of the dryer to put them back on the bed. I recently got rid of all of the sheets and now have one flannel and one regular for my bed.

Jana, I have put a lot of things into totes that are hand me downs for the kids. Their names are on the totes. I agree about passing down the stories, I like knowing my roots. I have two hutches full of hand me downs. All that stuff just sits in those hutches not being used and hardly looked at. My DIL said that one day she would like to have these things, so there they sit. Once I'm gone it won't matter to me where these things are.

Valerie, so, how's retirement? I have not used sage sausage in anything but dressing at Thanksgiving, hope you get to turn in your work things.

Maryz, Glad Scottie is improving, hope it continues. While you have your green crusted pizza I have my corned beef, potatoes, and carrots in the crock pot. I've never made one before because I never had to. This will be my first.

Judi, what are you embroidering on your hexi's? Funny, the sheets are my favorite chore, I love to make the bed. My least favorite is toilets.

Lois, I don't drive in bad weather either. Hope you find some real treasures at WM

Maryq, I wish you'd come here and help me get things finished in the sewing room. I just don't feel like it lately. TV shopping is definitely in my near future, this small tv is crazy small. I remember buying it at WM for $88. I wish they had a fabric warehouse near me, it sounds like fun. For us it was always Libby's canned hash with a poached egg. I looked at a can recently and saw the carb count and put it back. Hash and eggs is just going to remain a memory for me.

Time for me to start my day that is half over. Hoping you all have a wonderful St. Pats day. and that the corned beef and cabbage is delicious.

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light. May good luck pursue you each morning and night.

Chriss, I stopped watching the news years ago. I'll turn it on to check the weather and that's it. I watch snippets on Instagram and then fact check things I want to know. You'll come out of your funk soon enough.
And yes, why fold sheets when you can just put them back on the bed. I have extra sets, but I don't like to fold.

Valerie, I like that Irish proverb as well.

Maryz, glad Scottie is a bit improved and continues to improve. I've had furry ones that I spent thousands of dollars on. They are our children. I have 8 months fused and partially stitched of the OWL. I just have Jan, Feb, Aug, and Sept to do now. It makes such a mess pulling out fabrics. I should just finish them and be done.

Maryq, sounds like a good trip to the warehouse. Things just jump in my cart all the time.

Jana, I'm going to have to sign up for SS this year. I'm not looking forward to having to deal with it. I started doing a little research on Medicare. So much information.

Lois, glad you had a nice day with Sandi.

Judi, I did know they don't celebrate in Ireland like we do. Same with Cinco de Mayo and Mexico. It's just an excuse to party for us here.

It was a nice morning, but has got cloudy this afternoon. Maybe a little rain on the way as well. I did a little shopping and went to see dad. Then came home and fused down my Dec OWL block. Dinner will be leftovers from last night.

Sleep well my friends.
