Good morning,

Today will be another dreary day with fog and drizzle put it this way just icky

Yesterday I cleaned out the small closet in my sewing room it was full of clothes that will never wear again so another donation.
Now I will have enough room to put 2 plastic stacking draws on wheels in the bottom I will put fabric in it will fit once I start getting rid of fabric that what was I thinking of when I bought it.i want to get rid of these 2 white Pantry's that I have had for about 15 years.
So I want to do this because I don't want to leave all this behind after we are gone it wouldn't be fair to my kids to have to do this.
Today's plan Sandi is coming for a visit method to her madness she needs help with cutting 2 1/2 " strips her shoulder is doing better she just needs help with that so I will put my cutting matt on the dinning room table and cut what she needs.
At the moment the sewing room is trashed so that's what I will do.

I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good Sunday morn to all.
Looking at the storm coming across the country--we need as much rain as possible. The closest fire is 70% contained. The woman that was arrested for the fire was given a small fine because she didn't intend to start it. Houses were not burned--BUT--smoke damage. She put families lives in danger. So, I hope ALL neighbors will sue her. There were warnings as to a "burn ban" because of the super dry weather. Her neighbors TOLD her not to start her fire pit because of it. She had no water hose or even a water bucket nearby. Sorry for the vent, I guess you can't fix STUPID

I'm trying to use up my stash. So far I'm doing pretty good. Little by little. Then HL does 40% off fabric. Oh well, my good intentions go out the door LOL

I hope everyone is safe with this storm.

Good morning,

39* and rainy here. But I do have my daffodils, violets, hyacinths, and forsythia in bloom so at least there's something besides puddles to took at from the windows.

DIANE - Those fires had to be scary for the people who live close. Maybe you can't fix stupid, but a deluge of lawsuits might get her attention.

LOIS - Lucky Sandi to have a mom who sews and loves to help! I hope her shoulder is fully recovered soon.

LORI - How is Dad doing now? Is his pain under control?

FLO - supper in the crockpot. What was it? I use my crockpot a LOT. That way I can sew away my day and not be surprised to look up and find it's 5pm and there's no supper plan!

TINA - Good for Preston - trying different things. I would send you some crab (ugh!) but I don't think 5 days in the mail would do it any good. But, honestly, whoever thought eating sea spiders would be a good thing? And there is a saying - "'Twas a brave man who first ate an oyster."

MARY Q - what is the occasion, if any, for the quilt for your niece, Erin? Is she one of the ones who is having a baby soon? I usually get inspiration for quilts from magazines or from QIAD. Or if for a specific person I look for blocks with names same as that person. Or Sister's Choice for my sister. Pat's Star for my friend, Pat. Get my drift? There also different wedding patterns besides just traditional wedding ring.

LYN - I was at my machine yesterday afternoon. Were you at yours? You found some great fabric at a good price!

JUDI - did you try some Y seams? Like everything else, it takes a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, you may find a new skill you love. So how big are these hexies you are working on? And is this where you are doing the embroidery and the Y seams?

JANA - Your church and my Catholic parents were on the same page! We couldn't ride bikes on the road (quiet country road) until we were 12, no lipstick until 14, and no dating until 16. And there was no breaking any of those rules! So did you get into your batt cave yesterday like you planned?

CHRISS - how is/are your baby quilt(s) coming along?

Yesterday morning was a flurry of appointments - and we made them all on the dot. Scottie isn't good. He spent another day in doggie hospital getting IV fluids. They gave him an appetite stimulant and after that kicked in he started eating and drinking. The doctors think he has intestinal cancer, and arthritis so bad in his spine that it's starting to affect the operation of his back legs. I think these days of hydration to keep him going are more for us than for him. We'll see what today brings. We have four different meds to give him plus prescription canned food. But things are looking pretty grim for our crazy little sheltie.

I did get two more blocks done on NYB. I think that's 32 done and 22 left to go. My sister and dbil (Al & Tina) arrive tomorrow, so sewing time is going to be extremely limited until after they leave again which is March 26th. I'll probably go into withdrawals. Today is a trip to Costco for a few things to have on hand for their visit. And a couple spins on the dance floor doing the Maytag Mambo. Supper will be leftover chicken parm.

Hugs around,

mary z

A cool 55° but will warm up later.

Y'all been talking seafood and it's reminded me of a story. My MIL reconnected with a childhood friend, Vern, after my FIL died. Vern was having dinner with us and he and Garry were talking about their military life. Vern served in WWII and was stationed on an island near Alaska. These men almost starved except for an occasional ship that would drop off mostly potatoes and lots of butter. There were these funny long legged things that were in the water, but being a Kansas farm boy he and others had no idea that those crabs and their legs went very well with butter.

MaryZ, I'm sorry to read that Scottie isn't doing well. Our fur baby's hope we do right by them, even when it means really hard and sometimes sad decisions. Hugs 💞

Had some chores yesterday so never got to sewing. I did get the large backing yardage cut, up on the clubhouse tables. Today is gospel jam, so I will go listen and make hexi's.

Have a Blest day.

Good morning Girls

Up, showered and dressed!!! Which is a big deal for me at 9:15am!!! Bren is stopping by on his way back to college so I didn't want to be in my jammies when he gets here.

Lois,... Love the vision in my head of your sewing room "trashed" It gives me great comfort to know that I am not the only one with a messy sewing room. I'm with you on trying to get things organized for when I go to sleep and don't wake up----as my Gramma used to call it. I find little things around my house all the time--little nick nacks and things that were my grandmother's that my kids will be stuck with. I'm sure a lot of stuff will end up in a Goodwill Box.

Diane.... Don't you just wonder sometimes how people can BE so stupid!! To light a fire without any water near by!!! Not much scares me anymore---except for snakes and FIRE!!

Maryz... Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear that Scottie isn't doing so great! I was so hoping that with a little good food he'd be back to his old happy self. I forget, how old is he? Will they do tests to determine if he does in fact have some form of cancer? The quilt for Erin is for her wedding in October, which is why I thought leaves would be appropriate. Meaghan is having the baby and they are sisters. I got to be with my sis in the delivery room when Erin was born and I am her Godmother.

Judi.... I hope your guild decides that a QOV for the veteran is the right thing to do. I mean, why would he be any less deserving!! Several years ago I bought a book called "In Case of Emergency, Break Glass" It was a download so I printed it all off and put in a yellow binder and every once in a while, I remind the kids to look for that if anything happens to me. It has forms to fill out for all pertinent information---such as Drs, financial info, where you want the dog to go, last wishes for funeral arrangements, who to call in the event of death etc etc. Every once in a while I try to go through it and make any changes.

Tina... If you ever see Talapia at the grocery store... give that a try for Preston. It's a very mild fish and not at all "fishy" tasting. I just fry it in a little butter with seasoning salt, covered until it's done and it doesn't take long. I sometimes find it at Target, but it's hit or miss whether they have it. I picked up two big bags of it at Sam's club. Maybe that will be supper tonight!

Chriss... Was yesterday an Elliott day!?

Yesterday I did get baby boy quilt sandwiched and pinned so I think I might get that quilted today, unless Katie wants to go to the warehouse this afternoon. We were going to go yesterday but it looked like snow was moving in---turns out we only got about 10 flakes and the sun come out and it was nice---cold but nice. Still cold today and snow is predicted for Wednesday. Gotta love Minnesota.

Looks like Katie and I headed to Warehouse....

Wishing you all a GREAT Sunday

Good morning.

Last night my tv finally died. The picture has been going out for a while now and last night it gave up and said no more. I have sound but no picture. I do have a 32 inch tv that we used in Jerry's room when he was in board and care. Boy is it ever small, I can't even read the words on the tv guide. Going from 55 inch to 32 inch isn't going to be happening here for very long.

Nothing really going on here except for a few indoor and outdoor chores. I need to get the garden beds ready to plant. I think I will start some seeds and see how that goes. It's still too early to plant but I want to be ready.

Lori, I love that your dad recognizes a picture of your mom and feels that love that they had together. How sweet is that?

Lois, I belong to a FB group about organizing your sewing room. Gosh the ideas are endless. Small or big rooms, there are storage solutions. I can imagine your mind just thinking about it often.

Maryz, I'm so sorry about Scottie. Absolutely nothing I can do or say to make it better but know that I wish there was.

Judi, feels really good to purge and organize. Funny, as we age we want to make it easier for our kids to go through our stash of treasures. Just the opposite of how we "nest" when getting ready to have a baby. I googled that I'm dead now what book. There's another one called "Sorry, it's your problem now"

Maryq, Elliott is supposed to be here on Saturday. We are having a day at my parents house. I haven't been in much contact with the kids for more than a month now. Lots of stuff going on there so I am not getting in the way.

Jana, hope Logan has a fun time at the prom. I like group dating, it's funner and less awkward than one on one dating.

And that's it for me. Not hungry yet so not ready for breakfast. I do need do a few things around here, perhaps a load of sheets and towels. dinner tonight will be leftover rotisserie chicken and some kind of a veggie.

You all have a great day today,
Chriss

Good morning!

Home from church, sort of. We went to Sarah's Ward, as Ethan did a cello solo, with Sarah as the accompanist. A 2 for 1! He did a beautiful job. They played Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. A favorite of many. In a few minutes we goback to our own Ward, as I need to do the music. Good hymns I know well and one is a very favorite of mine, Let Us All Press On. A fun one to conduct!

After church, I'll head down to the Batt Cave and get into trouble! That will be fun!

I got Mr G to go through some of his clothes and found several packages of brand new socks that he's never worn and won't wear as they don't fit right. He's beyond fussy about socks. So those as now in the donation box, which I'm gathering. About 15 pairs! I'm still working on dresses.

As to knick knacks, I've gathered tons, especially ones that are family heirlooms. I have place settings of my mom, grandmother, and my great grandmother 's wedding China. Not whole sets, just one place setting. My grandmother was married in 1895 and my great grandmother in 1870. Now that's old! My kids all know the stories of each treasure in my curio cabinet and they want to have these things for their families too. All part of family history. I make sure to share the family stories so they have some idea of where they came from.. I have one last ornament that was my mom's, that came with her, when the family moved to California from Utah. She was 5, and that was 1922. It's just a simple glass gold ornament, but is so fragile, that I don't know how much longer is will last. I also have a afghan that my grandfather croched, as something to do while he was bedridden before he died. And quilts my grandmother made too. So it's just a matter in my opinion that the kids learn to love these treasures as they learn to love those who made them.

OK, time to leave again for church,

Hugs,
Jana

Maryz, when it comes to our fur babies, we do everything we can to help them. Sometimes it's not enough. You'll know when it's time. Until then, just enjoy every moment with the sweet furball.

Jana, yes, those are treasure to keep and pass on the information for generations to come. The younger generation needs to know how valuable simple things were back in the day.

Chriss, bummer your big TV died. I mostly watch a 32 inch tv in the sewing room. We have a bigger one in the front room, but I don't spend a lot of time out there. I do like to watch movies on the bigger one though. How fun Elliott will be traveling your way next week. I bet your dad will be so happy to meet the little guy.

Maryq, have fun at the warehouse.

Tina, that is funny that he ate half and then decide he didn't like it. At least he gave it a good try.

Judi, it's funny the things we keep. My parents and their parent kept scrapbooks full of things. I've been going though many pulling out one or two picture to keep. I haven't even gotten to the knick knacks yet.

The boys have walked us. So now I'll get busy on the house. The sheets are in the wash and I'll put them back on the bed when they are done. I need to run the vacuum and dust today as well. I worked on the December OWL block last night. Just need a few more scraps of fabric to finish it up. Then I'll start another one. Dinner will be chicken and potatoes on the grill tonight.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning all, been AWOL the last couple of days but did get some things done that really needed done. Friday I went through my first sewing room (I have two sorta, the other still needs work) Got things in order and current projects owhatn the cabinet. Yesterday I had to get my car cleaned out (on the road all the time does a number on your car!) Sorted through all my nursing gear and packed up what needs to go back to the office. My hospice job never took their stuff back so will give them some of that too. Then went to the shop in Petaluma looking for Kim Deihl fabrics for a particular quilt I want to try. I really needed some blue but didn't find much. Still got about 1/3 yard of 15 different fabrics. Then we had lunch and just as I was getting in the car I noticed a cut in my tire. I have no idea how it got there but certainly not safe to drive on. Found a Wheel Works shop 1/2 mile from where we were so went on over. They said the rest of my tires while legal, were wearing and they recommended 4 new. So we went ahead and did that. Wasn't on the budget until closer to our trip but what's a girl to do. They took forever and so we had dinner late out. I knew better but not eating is really hard on the body. So because it was late, I was up half the night with Indigestion! This morning I have gotten the car washed and inside done. Did some grocery shopping and gased up the car. Now it is rest the knee time.

Lori so glad your Dad still remembers your Mom. My Dad never forgot my Mom either. Funny they were babies when they met. The sotry we were told is their Moms were pushing them in the carriages in the park when they met. I wish I knew the rest of the story as to why they stopped and talk but I don't. They did not get married though until they were 26.

Lyn I read about your Janome story, that is mostly true. On my M7 and M17 I do for the most part only use Janome needles. I also use a permanent marker to mark on the top of the bobbin which machine it goes to. I don't switch bobbins between machines either. My dealer though said for the paper piecing it is okay to put on a sharp to piece the paper. My less expensive Janome's do fine with Schmetz needles. The guy who set up my machine said it is okay to use prewound bobbins for embroidery.

Maryq our weather is 54 right now and cloudy, it looks like it may rain. But that's kind of normal for us I think at this time of year.

Chriss that sounds like an interesting meat loaf. I buy sage sausage though so not sure how that would go.

Lois I would like to get a new cutting table but I don't have anywhere to put a nice one. The one I have is okay. Plus my cabinet for my big machine turns into a cutting table when you lower the machine. I have so much fabric to go through. A funny story, one of the girls I sew with was using some fabric the other day and it was so pretty. Not realizing it was older I asked her what is was. Lo and behold I have several fat quarter bundles out in the shed of the same fabric! It's called Shiny Objects.

Jana I should also get a new a mattress, mine is probably 25 yrs old too. New sheets maybe too. I think waiting until 16 to date is a good idea. Kids are a bit more mature (not all but some) and able to make better decisions. There is more to dating than just having a good time.

Maryz I was hoping that Scottie would be better by now. Darn, I will add some prayers for God's will. How old is he? Funny though how it all came on after his little trip.

Diane people can sue but if she has no money then what's the point.

Well I think I will start some sewing. I have lots more things to cleanbut can only do so much at a time. Darn this knee. Am think about some cortisone injection but not sure I want to get into that. Hope you all have a great day.
