Friday March 14,2025
Good morning,
I got on here late yesterday but at least I made it on here.
Today I will be in my sewing room trying to figure out things I'm thinking on redoing things but will see.
I have no appointments and have the sheets in the washer and the next thing will be the blanket.
There is no more news to report.
I hope you all have a great day and everyone is well.
Do something fun today.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Morning Lois and all to follow,
Yesterday we went back to kids house. Clearing all the weed vines from back broken wire fence. It will be a few more days of work before fence back up, but the house behind them is vacant and up for sale. We have permission from elderly lady that owns house to do this. She wanted it done for awhile, but they didn't have the means to get it done. DGD and granddog have playtime here, so the fence down isn't a problem.
Last night I air fried chicken for supper. I'm having fun with air fryer. I also cut out 2 more denim teddy bears. Today I will embroider the faces. Then we will go out for supper with friends.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Flo

Good morning it is sunny and going to be 66 today,,,spring might just be doing a test run...I did more purging this morning and more to go to the salvation army store when I get a trunk full...It wont be long...I did get rid of 3 purses but having 20 more is a problem,,I love shoes and purses...
Last night was the parents and players hockey banquet,,,Liam recieved a coaches award for being positive no matter what the situation is and always being a great teammate...( we knew all this) Parents were very proud Colleen said they had such nice things to say about him ( but we knew that too). So since Liam had the parents for the evening that left Sophia home alone....so we went and took her to Olive Garden her favorite restuarant and had supper with her,,,,It was fun she is so chatty and entertaining,,,14 going on 21 for sure...
Still working on the emb roidered block I am doing a sample to see how it turns out and will sew a few blocks together to test my ability on Y seams...if all works out I will gather the stuff and do the whole quilt,,,there aare 72 large hexigons many with embroidered motifs on them...I will be a long project..
well thats all the news here
Flo we have a lot of over grown fence and some of it is broken due to trees falling on it during storms...over the years it is our lower yard and we dont use it much but the deer and raccoons have a good time down there we really need to clear it, On one side the neighbbor took down part of the fence and left the rest,,,it all need to come down since neither of our neighbors do anything with the lower yards,,,and dont really care about a fence,,,none of us have dogs to roam down there,,,maybe this year,
Lois I hear you on rearrainging the sewing room from time to time,,,It gets cleaned and refreshed and feels good to be in there,,,
Everyone have a great day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo

Re: Friday March 14,2025
Good morning,
Cold here - 34*! Brrr! But it's not raining!
Scottie is a little bit better. He spent all day yesterday at vet hospital on IV fluids. They did ultra sound and XR's. Inconclusive other than she saw a "cystic structure" in/near his intestine. Not sure if it's just fluid, a cyst, cancer, or "other". We brought him home at 5:30 but he wouldn't eat, drink, or pee. Just laid down. Our friend, Annette, came over with her computer and energy device (think electronic Reike). She attached a belt around Scott's belly and connected it and her device to her computer. Through the program on her computer she said she saw liver involvement, low Vit B, dehydration, and bacteria. She sent him "zaps" and after a while he started to respond and his numbers on a variety of things started to improve. Respirations, oxygen level, Vit B level, even his hydration improved. He never moved all evening but did noticeably perk up. She finished at midnight. Scott took a drink at 2am and again at 5am. Walked steadily this morning, peed, drank more water. He still won't eat, and is certainly not out of the woods yet, but he's much improved. He'll get another day in hospital on IV's and Annette is coming back tonite. At least now we have a little hope of saving our dog. Insert heart imogie here.
Sorry that report was so long, but hey! I'm a nurse!
FLO - so nice for the kids that you and Joe are able and willing to help out with big jobs like this. I hope the weather made it nice to be outside working. Two more bears! Did you say you planned to make 5 in all? Or are those 5 still in waiting - from Hawaiian shirts?
JUDI - are you still working up your nerve to cut into Liam's shirts? It's a little scary. But you're a brave girl! And you had a doctor appt - how did that go? I've been sidetracked by Scott. Sorry. Congratulations to Liam! What a great addition to humanity that young man is! And fun to spend an evening with Sophia. I always enjoyed being with our grandsons sans their parents! They really open up and share! I love purses and shoes, too, and also have way too many of both. And funny thing - I also love coats and jackets - but I hate wearing them!
LYN - thank you for the prayers for Scottie. Keep 'em coming - he seems a little better! Hope you had fun at the shop hop. Where all did you go? And more importantly, what all did you buy??
CHRISS - Glad for your wonderful neighbor! Glad your weeds are gone, glad your slash pile is burned, and glad Elliott is coming to visit! Sorry about your dad's sciatica. I hope his chiro helps him. Mine sure keeps me going! My meatloaf? Sometimes, I experiment but this last one I stayed pretty traditional: ground sirloin, ketchup, mustard, 1/4 c bread crumbs, an egg, diced onion, minced garlic, S&P, and a few shakes of Montreal steak seasoning. blah! Where do I go wrong??? But the leftovers were great in the spaghetti sauce last night!
LOIS - what are you thinking of changing around in your sewing room? Storage? Fabrics? Painting? Furniture? I am constantly trying to think of better ways to arrange things but it always ends up the same. But my room is tiny - only 10x10 - and I have enough crammed in there to fill two rooms that size.
LORI - Are you taking those photos you found to your dad? Do you have pictures in his room of him through life? It's nice for him but important to remind the staff that he is a person, who has lived a good life. Is it on-going for a while or just the one day? Glad you enjoyed your class. Was it in person or Zoom? And did you finish your project? I love that you try new things! It keeps you young and engaged! And then we get to learn about what you learned! I think I won't be making meatloaf any more either. Bill didn't make that a request, but I can see it was an unspoken hope on his part.
JANA - I used to make fancy scrapbooks. It was fun. I made what I called Heritage Albums for my 5 siblings and my 3 kids. Then I did a scrapbook for each of the 3 kids starting from my wedding to Mike (their dad) up to their own weddings. And I did a book from my belly dancing years for my dance partner and myself, and finally I did books for some special trips. Now I am DONE! now the pictures all get labeled and sorted into photo storage boxes. As for baby books, I think the first baby gets the good one, the second baby gets some notations. The third baby starts complaining in their teens that they didn't get a book and you quickly put it together from memory (and maybe a bit of imagination
). Subsequent babies are out of luck! We are busy!!
MARY Q - Did you do it?? Did you go sit outside and get some Vit D yesterday? They say almost everyone is deficient on Vit D, you know. I'm with you. At this point I don't really want to get deeply involved with anything anymore. For 12 years I lived and breathed our Christmas toy drive, working 9 hour days for a month setting up, then give-away day, then pack-away day after Christmas. I could count on losing 5# every December! But when I was done, I was done. I did my part and from now on I just sew quilts I want to sew and then give them away when I see a need. Love your sweet quilt! And it's certainly big enough to wrap up a baby on a cold day! I'm sure it's going to get a lot of use for tummy time, on chilly stroller walks, and more. I guess the new thing is no blankets or pillows or even toys in cribs. They just dress babies in warm sleepers now until they reach about 1 yr.
TINA - I'm glad your PT knows about your foot and lack of XR's. And if she can pinpoint where it hurts the most with pressure, walking, etc., that would be good. I hope it improves for you. Sorry for more wind! I worry for your sewing machines with that fine dirt blowing in. Do you keep them covered when you're not using them?
VAL - so??? what are you going to do today? Because you ain't goin' to work!!
Yesterday we stuck close to home waiting for vet calls - we had 3 yesterday with updates. I did get 2 NYB blocks finished and a third, #31, prepped. We don't want to leave Scottie alone so it's going to be a few quiet days here.
I have NEWS!- !! I texted IRISH a few weeks ago because I hadn't heard anything from her for a long time. No answer. So I texted her again yesterday and she answered me this morning while I've been typing out this post! She has new floors, new furniture, and, - drum roll please - a new man! Yep! Irish has a new boyfriend named Eric! So you can see, she has a very good excuse for being too busy to quilt! Plus Kathy is coming to visit. And even more good news, she is feeling great - healthier than she has in a long time. I wonder why . ..
Anyway - thank you all for your prayers, texts, good vibes for our Scottie Dog. He is hanging in there, better than yesterday. I'm hoping we're turning a good corner with him.
Going to have chicken for supper. And for fresh veggies I only have a single carrot so a grocery store run might be in order. My sis and dbil arrive on Monday so we need to stock up on some stuff anyway.
Y'all have a fantastic Friday!

Re: Friday March 14,2025
Good morning!
Mother Nature isn't giving up winter! Snow and cold here! My yard is all nice and clean and now covered in snow. Oh well......
We are doing PT, then over to Costco to see about a mattress for our bed. The current one we have is needing to be replaced, big time! We've gotten 25 years out of it, I think it's time for a new one. Daniel will meet us there with his truck, if we decide on what Costco has. He's working from home, so he can help.
Ethan stayed after school yesterday and with his team of 5 students and a teacher entered a pizza making competition. They took second place. They made a scratch pizza, that was Tex-Mex inspired, with a cornmeal crust of some sort. Ethan made homemade Pico de Gallo. Everyone loved it. The judges were a bit unfair, as the teacher on Ethan's team, has won the last three competitions, so the judges were upfront and.told Ethan's team, that the team was given a handicap and the smallest kitchen to work in. The team said fine and still pulled off a second place. Ethan had fun!
Gracie is now playing fast pitch softball. She's loving it, so far. Practice just started.
Not much new on Stu's car. Just waiting on the insurance. Daniel being the car guru, is looking for a good truck for Stu. Currently Stu is driving Sarah's truck to commute to work. As Stu's car burnt on the side of the freeway, his boss just happened to drive by and took pictures. So he's letting Stu do some remote work from home.
So after today's traipse, I'll head down to the Batt Cave to play.
Hugs,
Jana

Re: Friday March 14,2025
Good day everyone. Warm, breezy and fire watch because of low humidity and no rain.
So, I had started a post yesterday when I got home but got sidetracked. Just went to open that tab on my phone, I could see my post but when I touched the page to make full screen, poof my words disappeared. Next time I will take a screenshot first before touching page. Anyways I guess all that important stuff I was going to say to each of you, must not have been.
Friend Margaret and I had a nice time going to the 5 QSs. One is in Orange Grove, a ways west of Corpus. The lady has a small, but nice shop. Not sure it would be worth a trip when others are closer. I bought a pattern that was marked down, called High Tea, by Cozy Quilt Designs, table runner and placemats. I bought a couple yards of 2 different fabrics at different shops. Patience QS is out in the country, the shop is by her house. After I bought fabric, they told me I had reached their goal of spending whatever the amount and I now have a $25 gift I can spend by June, but I will go back, maybe today and spend it since we leave April 1st. I need backing fabric for the quilt pattern my sister picked out last July, maybe they have something.
MaryZ, I hope Scottie gets better.
I overslept, so I'm behind. I have to go to CVS and pick up a RX for Garry. Tried to do it yesterday. The automated system had text that one needed a refill and did I want them to contact the Dr, so I hit yes, thinking it was making my life easier. Nope, turns out the RX was filled in Blue Springs, MO, not here. So, it's been transferred to here and ready. I will pick it up and go spend that $25.
Hope you can sew something or play with fabric.
Lyn

Good morning, it's another rainy day here today. Snow on the mountain so I won't be even thinking of going up the hill. Instead will go down the hill.
I'll clean the parents house today, make a few stops including groceries. I'm really debating if I want to spend $15 on coffee or give it up all together.
I did get my new phone and my internet device hooked up and running. It's nice to have that off of my mind. It took some praying, but it's working now. Amazing the things that hook up to the internet and need a password added when you change internet companies.
Maryz, my meatloaf is pretty boring. two parts ground beef and one part jimmy dean sausage, white onion, an egg and breadcrumbs.
Dinner tonight might be chicken, or who knows.
you all have a great day

Good morning everyone
I'm running late....
Maryz, I'm so glad to hear that Scotty is better even if it is just a little, hopefully that little will turn into a lot. Yeppers I keep all my machines covered very well
That's great news about Irish!!

We had wind like you wouldn't believe last night, all night, ugh it kept me awake most of the night. We're cold and windier if that's even possible.....but it is unfortunately.
We got Dad's groceries by 8:30 this morning so that was the one have to today.
Preston wants to try fish so I'm making that for supper so he can try it.
I really don't know how our house didn't blow away or apart last night but it didn't thankfully.
I'll be staying inside today, trying to keep warm and out of the dirt, roads are already closing.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Tina

I forgot a very important thing that Margaret and I learned yesterday, that I wanted to pass on to those that have Janome machines. One shop, where the man told another customer that he serviced the Janome machines they sell, Margaret asked about timing on machines for general information. Her Bernina quilting machine is having problems. In the conversation he brought up that Janome machines should only use Janome bobbins and only Janome needles. Margaret has a small Janome and obviously we all know to use the proper bobbin to machine. But this man said that he finds many of the machine problems are because the person isn't using a Janome needle. Even mentioned that Janome had made a post or email on this. So, if you have a stitch problem with your Janome, go buy their needles.

Re: Friday March 14,2025
Maryz, sorry Scottie isn't back to his old self. I've been worried about him and you. I know having a sick furry kid is very stressful. Maybe today is the day he feels better. The class was in person.
No I didn't take the pictures/news clippings to my dad. He has pictures in his room and I show him the picture of my mom everyday. When asked who it is, he says, "the love of my life." They met when she was 9 and he was 11. He was best friends with her brother and remained so though the years. Thanks for the update on Dorothy. Sounds like she's having some fun.
Jana, I've seen girls play fast pitch. The can really throw that ball hard and fast. Good for Ethan. I'm sure all his time helping out grandma has made him an excellent cook.
Judi, I bet Sophia was happy to have you two all to herself for dinner.
Flo, glad you got the wire fence cleaned up. I bet the neighbor was glad you took care of it.
Lois, are you rearranging your room?
Lyn, It's nice when you get a little perk for shopping somewhere. Thanks for the info on Janome. I switch off between my Janome and Bernina. I didn't know about the Janome needles. I'll have to look into that.
Chriss, I dislike tech stuff because it takes too much of my time. Glad you are getting some rain too.
Tina, with all that wind you'd think a rain storm would blow in. That would knock down some of the dirt.
I stayed up last night to see the eclipse. It was pretty cool. As soon as it covered the moon I went to bed. I had bridge this morning, so I was a little tired today. Went to see dad this afternoon and didn't do much else. It's was cold and rainy all day. We never got a break to walk the boys. Tomorrow I'm going to play bingo in the afternoon. It should be a fun few hours. We had leftover lasagna and raviolis for dinner.
Sleep well ladies.
